When do you start seeing good youth players emerging from the youth squad? Ive been using Lvl 5 Youth for 2 years now and there have been no decent players at all in the squad.

How many years does it take for good players to pop up?

and also should I give contracts to the youth players to free up room for new youth players to come in at the start of the season, or do they automatically get replaced with new players?

Thanks for any reponses.

can you poach youth players from rival teams and tap them up?

c'mon i know some peeps have had luck with the youth team just wondering how many years before they started seeing results.

After one year of investing the minimum amount I got an amazing SS called Makeu Aid who starts off at 17 with a rating of 83 (I'm sure plenty others have probably seen him). Then after three years of investing the maximum amount I've had two decent players. Firstly, a reborn 16-year-old Marcus Hahnemann with high 80s response & keeper skills and the 1-on-1 keeper card. And then Dodo, who arrived with lots of stats in the high 80s and early 90s but with a teamwork rating of 9, and therefore an overall rating in the low 60s. From what I can tell, luck is the overwhelming factor.

actually, the players you get are kinda random. if you save your game right before the final week and check your youth team, you will see different players almost each time. some (usually 1, but sometimes 2) are really good and the description says the player resembles someone, but it's a matter of luck which ones you get, and never consistent, even with level 5 everything. the best i've gotten were single players in the 90s or maybe 2 players both in the 70s or 80s, all age 15. there's no development or anything, so don't bother waiting season after season.

yeah, kinda lame :/

My superstar didn't develop at all during his first season but from the second season onwards he developed quickly as you'd expect. Amusingly, he was World Player of the Year but couldn't get a place in the the Syrian national team. This meant that he was never fatigued so he could play every game of the season! According to his dossier he was based on Roberto Baggio... hmm...

I meant to say there is no relation between your Youth Team in one year and your Youth Team in the next. They are produced randomly each year and are not "leveled up" like you would normally imagine (or at least I did, at the start). It's like a trick-or-treat bag, or a box of chocolates..

thanks for your replies. I was really wanting to know whether it was worth scrapping together the money together to pay the £10 million a year, which is always a push with all the other costs. Just to get a couple of class youngsters, looks like im going to stick it out and see who emerges!!

ah, so it is not a bug when you get totally imba players? Because in my 4th season i suddenly got Burchet in my youth squad, 15 years of age and an overall stat of 95! You have no idea how fast i signed him ;)

Think the whole youth team thing is a nice feature to implement in a game, but i think it fails in Pes 2010. When you have youth team level 5 - Baaam! a 17 year old shows up with 90 overall! Then promote him, and he goes angry and wants to leave the club if i don't play him for a split second due to purple arrow :) in real life a 17 year old guy would be happy just to touch the grass once a week.

actually it's age 15 for level 5 ;)

and i just noticed that when it says it resembles someone, that the stats are sometimes direct copies of players who are currently in the game. one player i got was a direct copy of benzema, and another was a direct copy of a created player i made.

this really turned me off (not like i was ON or anything) cuz now waiting for kaiser or shaw is pretty pointless in terms of stats

and for the record, i've gotten up to 3 players with good stats in one youth team.

Did you ever watch Balotelli at that age?

I don't think that's true. Players remain in the youth team and develop till they're 20. Infact I think no matter how high a player's rating is, he should be left in the youth team for a year at least to monitor his progress, as some players with really high rating in the beginning decline when they're young itself.

Minanda has been in my youth team since the beginning - I'm now in the start of my 3rd season.

yeah, some of them will stay there for a while, but the really good players whose dossier says they resemble someone is random and changes every time. at least for me it does, dunno if i'm playing a different game :/

Well im in season five or six now, cant remember which. and ive finally got something for all my hard earned millions. a 16 year old who resembles Rio Ferdinand overall 75, and a 19 year old cudicini overall 65. not the best, but considerably better than ive ever had before.

We all start somewhere!

Got a goalkeeper named Hain (I don't know, but I catch myself calling him Mathias Hain? Maybe it reminds me of the Bielefeld keeper...), he's got 72 rating, aged 16. AWSOME. My keeper at the moment was Höttecke bought from Dortmund (199cm monster, 71 rating, 24yo I think) and my backup was Fährmann from Frankfurt (194cm, 70 rating, 22 yo).

Now, Hain is my first choice, only at 16 ;)

I've had level 5 youth team for 2 years and only in the third year did it produce a Youth GK, Graafland for me ... scout says he reminds him of Buffon. He's rated 95 overall, aged just 16 years.

I started as Burnley so M.Jensen was my first choice for my first season. He's rated at 64 overall but he was good enough for me then. In my 2nd season though, his stats dropped badly and I had no choice but to drop him. My 2nd choice, Penny, was automatically promoted. His overall rating was better than Jensen but he sucked awfully. Managed to get Mannone on a free transfer and used him for about 1 season and then Lloris came along, also on a free transfer. Dropped Mannone then and when it came to contract renewals, Mannone demanded an astronomical raise in his pay and I just let him leave. Thankfully, my youth team produced a young GK rated at 95 and now Lloris is my 2nd choice behind Graafland, whom my scout says reminds him of Buffon. :w00t

In my first year I got a SMF player at 16 who had a overall of 86 and now i'm in my fifth season and his rating is up to 89. Hes really short and fast kinda like Giovinco. :D And the best player from my youth team was a 91 defender at the age of 16 :D

In my 5th season now, and have had 2 youth stars so far. Hamsun (CF) had stats in the 80s and is an awesome striker. He's now 89 overall after a season. I also got a keeper called Nash who is supposed to be 89 overall, but doesn't seem to have stats to match that figure yet. He does have skill cards for penalties and 1-1 stops though.
