Anyone going to be picking this up when it comes out in april? Just read this article and I am pretty intrigued

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-fifa-world-cup-hands-on

199 International Teams!!!! (The same amount of teams who entered into teh tournaments qualification) That could make for some interesting half star matches!!

I know that reason alone will tempt myself and barn towards this!

No chance. They keep this content out of FIFA 10 so they can release a full-priced game months later. I won't give them my money out of principle...and the fact I hate EA.

If the gameplay is as good as FIFA 10 and the price is relatively low, I'd be interested.

It's all about the Benjamins.

Some interesting sounding features in there though. Mainly the gameplay in altitude and managers being included.

I thought the Euro 08 game was better than the FIFA's that followed, so I plan on picking this up. I just hope they actually add any improvements they make to FIFA 2011.

I'd love to take a copy of that article and shove it down Seabass' throat. The guy really seems to know the problems in Fifa 10 and when he talks about the changes they are making, they seem sensible and I believe they will happen. You only need to look at the changes made between Fifa 07 and the current game to see that EA are going full steam ahead in the right direction. I dream of a day when I have such confidence in Konami, although as long as Fifa are putting out a game worth playing, I don't care all that much.

I shall be buying this game as the vast choice of national teams excites me and I look forward to seeing some of the changes made to the gameplay.

I will have to buy it, it will be the first time there will be an official WC game with good gameplay. Will be irritated if is over 30 quid though. Will also be interested to see if there are any gameplay improvements over fifa 10.

I was planning on waiting for FIFA 11 to come out, but after reading that article I'm tempted - it sounds like it could be a great game. I may buy this when it comes out, if I can find it for a good price...

Looking forward to a demo of this, I imagine there will be one released.

Will be irritated if is over 30 quid though.

Of course it will be. The majority of games these days have a RRP of £49:99, which is scandalous, but you don't see many stores actually selling them for that.

Did your country participate in the World Cup qualifications?

I've got no idea. Even if we did, there's a chance that Brunei isn't included in it as we're currently suspended by FIFA until 2013, I think.

Phatmann
10-02-2010, 14:03
From Wikipedia: "They are one of the weakest teams in the world and did not even attempt qualifying for the 2010 World Cup." I'm pretty sure Brunei won't be included as they didn't enter qualifying for this World Cup or even the 2006 World Cup.

Foxhound
10-02-2010, 14:06
Haha.

It annoys me that, (the FA) has the mentality of "it's better not to attempt qualifying as we definitely won't have any chance to qualify." We could've been the San Marino of Asia.

Sweey
10-02-2010, 14:43
Am I right to believe this game contains every national team that attempted World Cup qualifying, the World Cup tournament itself, offline and online play and nothing else?

Oh and bad news everyone:

The Vuvuzela will be in the game and can be heard.

Marcio Mengão

i will probably buy it but first i need to know if the defense position problem had been fixed.

Phatmann
10-02-2010, 17:25
They supposedly have fixed it. Mentioned in the gameplay fixes: "Improved marking for when the CB pushes up to the ball possessor when he shouldn't, leaving the team vulnerable to an easy through ball for 1 v 1 with the GK."

But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Oh and bad news everyone:

I don't know, I think/hope the game will help me get past that vuvuzela sound when the actual World Cup arrives. On a positive note, it makes the game feel more authentic because they will be there. And to watch it on 'mute' is unacceptable for me, I can't do that.

End of video 1 interested me, with the circle of where your penalty's going to go as you're taking it.

Is it just me, or does the gameplay in these videos look considerably slower than that of FIFA 10?

I'm really looking forward to playing the demo for this, may pick this up if I see it around for a good price.

The new penalties look interesting, it's a good idea by EA as now it'll make it more challenging and interesting I guess. Still shouldn't be too hard to score penalties.

I'm guessing this is a big hit with the gamers and will be in FIFA 11.

This is perhaps my greatest pet peave with FIFA 10. If this was the only improvement made for the World Cup game it'd be worth trading for in itself, at least for me.

I'm probably gonna trade in Fifa 10 soon, getting very bored of it.

Same. The only problem that leaves me with is no football game where club teams are at hand. But if the gameplay is a whole level above, with the quirks ironed out, then it's a fair enough trade off, in a sense.

Normally xbox live updates about 11am ish, but I don't see any sign of it.

Here's my source btw,

PSN and Xbox Live will score a demo for 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa this Thursday, April 8, worldwide. The demo grants those interested in the footie franchise a chance to play as Spain or Italy and offers an optional two-button control scheme for newcomers.

Beyond the demo date, EA also announced the 28 artists featured on the soundtrack for the game, which we've listed after the break. In a clear sign of racism, there are no tracks by "prawn" musicians. Shame on you, EA. Shame on you. It's not just the "Earth Cup," but the World Cup, you know? Next thing you know, Americans will label something that has participants from only two countries as the "World Series."

The pace is a little too fast for my likings, but everything else is great. The presentation is much better than 2010 and everything feels more fluid. I just wish the halves were longer than 2 minutes and they gave a range of different teams to experiment with. I wanted to see if big players like Crouch actually have a presence about them, rather than just looking slightly bigger. The previews have said they do, but I wanted to try it first hand.

OPM Review FWC

The first review is out, and it’s a very glowing one for FIFA World Cup.

Official PlayStation Magazine got the exclusive, and gave the game 9/10.

Here’s their closing line:

The only downside? Brilliant though FIFA 10 is, once you’ve played this there’s no going back.

Make sure you pick up the magazine to read the full 4 page review, released April 13th.

Also, seeing as the X360 demo is out, make sure you let us know what you think of the game here.

Yeah, no surprise EA have only put 2 teams in the demo; so the kids who only know about England buy the game.

It also would've been decent of EA to let us have a penalty shootout at the end of game or to make the Penalty Shootout mini-mode available for us to play. That way, people would be able to practice their penalty-taking ahead of game release.

I'll rent it. When I can pay £2.50 to LOVEFiLM and keep the game until FIFA 11 comes out for that set amount, as opposed to paying £25-40 for it, I will. ¬_¬

I'm by no means a trophy whore, but some of the trophy objectives are decent;

http://www.ps3trophies.org/game/2010-fifa-world-cup/trophies/

I like the scenario trophies - and the "score the fastest ever WC goal" one.

After playing a few "games", if you can call them a game, theyre that bloody short. I did enjoy it, bit quicker which isn't bad. Still not loving the shooting, but perhaps it may be different in the final product.

Player likeness is much improved. They actually look just like the real players now unlike last year where they're more like a child's drawings of their favourite players. Still not where Konami's at but EA's getting closer. Presentation is fantastic. Real coaches are a nice touch and they seem to exhibit the same behaviours as well. The demo is way too short to dissect the gameplay but I'm liking it so far. 199 countries to choose from, lots of new modes, online world cup tournies, improved graphics and gameplay. I'd say all that justifies a full price and I don't really understand everyone's complaints. The world cup deserves a stand alone game and this year's game seems like the only one worth buying out of all the other world cup games ever made. It's just not the same when it's a Fifa side show.

So we should pay £40 for FIFA 10, £40 six months later for a World Cup game including the national teams they refuse to put in FIFA 10 to milk money from us and then a further £40 for FIFA 11 because they refuse to put all the national teams and club teams into one game and purposely hold back improvements in order to ensure they can release a game every 6-12 months?

The graphics, the coaches and various other improvements were available for FIFA 10 and I know that because its a clear tactic used by EA over the last ten years with virtually all of their games. They start with all of the features included and then take them out to ensure a game doesn't make a leap they consider too big, simply enough to consider the purchase of the next game in a series important enough.

I am astonished by your post.

What's annoying are the "player cut scenes" being labeled an improvement, when these exact scenes were included in FIFA 09's Ultimate Team mode, then subsequently removed in time for FIFA 10's release.

The same goes for the 09 UT substitutions too, which were different than the game itself.

It's alright, but I won't be buying it. Especially not for more than £20. I think once the road to world cup mode (or whatever it's called this time) is completed, there is much more worth doing. Personally, that's the only thing I'm looking forward to.

The gameplay seems to be too quick and a little more rigid (or less fluid). I'll pop into a store and play the full version before I make a definitive decision as to whether I'll purchase it. If I do, it definitely won't be for more than £20.

I must admit, I quite like the demo. I didn't buy Fifa 10 because I thought the demo was total dump, but I'm quite impressed by this offering. If you change the gameplay speed down to 'Slow' the game does play quite nicely. The presentation, graphics and animations are also pretty slick. The AI is still fairly bad as always, even on world class difficulty. They always just seem reluctant to shoot!! Either way, it's quite a bit better than Fifa 10.

I agree that £40 is a bit steep for what is essentially Fifa 10.33. But, considering that I have no plans to buy Fifa 11, I might pick this up if I see if cheap somewhere.

I got FIFA 10 and PES2010, and have to say I stopped playing FIFA about December, but am still going with PES.

However, the PS3 demo of this looks very good, in my opinion. The choice of gameplay speed is good, and playing it in slow mode feels much more genuine than previous FIFA's and PES's. Also, the graphics seem to have been improved, even little things like the pitch grass. And the atmospherics are spot on in the demo and capture that carnival feel very well.

A full price purchase does seem steep. However, with credit I have, I can pick it up for £28 in ShopTo.net which is tempting.

Anyone know of anybody's release prices? Not sure whether to pre-order from ShopTo and get it delivered a day or two earlier than release date (as per the usual fab service from ShopTo), or wait until delivery day and hope that Morrisons, Asda, Tesco or anyone else have a sub-£30 release price.

My nephew and I are 7 games in the quals with Wales. We're on legendary/6min halves.

I haven't played alone yet, but my mate reckons the game is harder than FIFA 10. I think it's harder to score, for sure, but possibly easier to defend, as I'll note below. The fact we can have one of us controlling the player passing the ball and another making a forward run helps.

Our record is P7, W6, D1 - which includes a double over Germany. 2-1 away, 2-0 at home (two Koumas corkers in that one) and we drew the first game with Russia 2-2 after Davies scored a 90th minute equaliser.

But, they're the only goals we've conceded in the group, which I'm surprised by as we couldn't defend for shit in FIFA 10, but then, I didn't play 4-5-1 on that game...

In the last group game we played, we somehow beat Azerbaijan 1-0 away, despite them dominating the game and missing a number of glorious chances.

The group table, as it stands is;

Wales 19pts
Germany 10pts
Russia 10pts

We have 3 games left, Germany and Russia have 4 ...and also have to play each other again. By the way, I fucking LOVE the score updates and marked out when Liechtenstein picked up their only point of the group so far IN Germany.

Our remaining games are Russia (Home), Finland (Away) and Liechtenstein (Away...I think). If we pick up four points, we're guaranteed to be on the plane to SA, regardless of what the others do in their matches. Nice.

I picked this game up yesterday (traded in Assassin's Creed II and Fight Night Round 4, which took £15 off the price for it).

I haven't started a World Cup campaign yet but intend to soon. So far, I've just been playing with different teams online, and right now I'm especially loving using Sweden, Germany, and Ghana online. I'm loving the huge selection of countries to choose from.

The graphics are easily more impressive than those in FIFA 10, and after a long play last night the gameplay in this is growing on me aswell.

One thing I don't particularly though, which EA really need to look at changing; there's no option to have extra time and/or pens after 90 minutes. This'll be because the games have been programmed as group-stage matches.

It'd be nice if EA gave the option to choose in unranked matches, it's a real letdown that I can't have a penalty shootout with a mate to decide a game, it's quite astonishing when you look at the hype they've put on the new penalty-kicks.

So far, I'm impressed.

I tell you whats not funny, fifa world cup, just llost a game 3-2 to france on world class with italy, im not that great at these games anymore cos i dont have the time to hammer them like i used to, but this game was so fucking annoying, simply because the same old crappy gameplay from fifa 10 has reared its head.

What fucks me off about this game is the CPU AI, its fucking jokes, the AI ping pongs it about and hardly ever misplaces a pass, check the pass stats after a game, its insane de rossi for instance making 25/26 passes and the fact i completed 89% of my passes as a whole, that doesnt seems realistic to me especially seeing as most of the teams i have played against have done this as well.

The CPU still bulldoses you off the ball and the game against france was rediculous, with Anelka running around like a headless chicken chasing players like crazy.

Too little error in the passing, its fucking laser guided still.

CPU AI still does these perfect crosses.

CPU AI is rediclously open to counter attack which leave one on one's

Not convinced about the goal variety.

Maybe im being unfair a bit here, but people were speaking about this in the same breath as pes 6, right now, i cant see that shit, the individality is not there i can do pirlo like passes with cheillini.

Going past players is still poor.

I was able to barge Players off the ball with pirlo and anyone who watches italian football knows that a load of bullshit straight away.

I caught Nicolas Anekla with Barzagli in a one on one.

Keepers are shit when facing crosses, my keeper just stood there whilst the ball went over him.

Defenisve AI is shit, my cb moved away from henry alllowing him to score a 90th minute winner (typical fifa CPU AI bollocks)

Right now, not that impressed, its prolly better than fifa 10, but personally, i enjoyed the demo more, i think its because EA ramped up the CPU AI pressure for the final game.

I might play more later, but right now, this is a waste of money imo.
Here you are, Berry.

It feels pretty much exactly like FIFA 2010 to me. Keep in mind I haven't played FIFA in about 2 moths, so my memory might be a little fuzzy, but it's clear that any improvements made were made to the presentation and little else. The new penalty system is a nice touch. I had a few in the practise arena and thought "This is a piece of cake" it wasn't until I got one in the full game and realised there was no marker to place where you wanted the ball to go and I ended up doing a John Terry.

I also managed to play it at a friend's on his SDTV and it felt ridiculously fast. Like, breakneck flipping fast, even on slow which I always play it on. I could barely keep up. That could just be me being used to HD now though. I had the same problem with PES 2008 I think it was.

The presentation in this game is amazing. I love the menu's and the country facts that pop up while loading. The only thing that annoys me is the extended opening sequence for each game especially if your online opponent doesn't press x to skip it.....

Played quite a few games, feel a bit rusty at the moment but the gameplay seems slower. Scoring doesn't seem any harder to me, except lobbing the keeper doesn't seem as effective. Played 4 games and scored 14 goals. Got my arse handed to me as Honduras in the Online World Cup mode though. Beat Germany and Drew with Italy but someone smashed me 6-2 as Portugal.

Loving the moonwalk celebration =]

Lampard
Gerrard

Guys i bought the game 2 days ago and i have to say that i really enjoy playing it! It is different from FIFA 10, especially the atmosphere gives you a very realistic view on the game! I've been playing all day, like 30 matches so far and still i haven't tried Captain Your Country and the World cup, just a few scenarios! Scenarios are difficult and thats good for me!

Jonno394
03-05-2010, 08:56
Yeah, I dived head first into the Ireland vs France one last night. Managed to score to send Ireland through to the world cup, but couldn't score 2 goals to get the extra 100 points. Tried Denmark Vs Portugal where you have to score 2 goals as Denmark to win, and all the players are dead on their legs. Impossible on World Class imo.

The commentary on the scenarios is brilliant (infact clive and andy do a great job throughout).

I'm finding the passing to be very wad tbh. I'd say so far 50% of my passes are just going nowhere and ending up in empty space closer to the opposition =[ I always hated playing against the cpu and not online opponents.

The online is gay as hell, every one plays ping pong pressure football, Im a newbie to this as I dont play online much, lost my 1st game by giving away 2 goals for free so deserved to lose that one,but as whole im happy with the way i play, its just that my finishing is dreadful, the response times in this game online are pathetic, i was in the box and literaly hit shoot about 10 times and my player just waited for the opposition to tackle me. Also, why cant EA let you use your custom tactics online?? Whats wrong with that? that way you can have a better chance of defending against the brazil morons.

Im sure i could get into it a bit more, and it was nice to beat a couple of spain whores twice, but its not realistic football, its just cocksuckers hitting it to centre forwards and run run run run.

LOL i have to agree , how long have you had the game , i got it on friday , been playin it since. I had good views on saturday , and by monday , im like WTF its startin to piss me off a bit. PING PONG is another thing pissing me off , its x , x , x L1 x maybe triangle then near goal tap sqaure.

The gameplay animations and movment is great i like it . The definging is for me horrid i just cant do it , im a PES man , and i love defindg on that , you can hardly slide tackle without givning a foul away or missing. the shooting.. i had the same response issue, and the shooting i find , dreadful compared to pes , its literally run in and press shoot and hope for the best ....everyones done it , crosses ...oh shit dont get me started, some of the goals have been soo annoying,

ive won a few , lost few , and drew few. been balanced. but i just cant get into it , im taking it back tommorow. I should of taken the hint. its good when it starts off but then more you play the more problems you find. IM a pes fan who got this fifa game first time, and its got decent things about it , love the passing gameplay and the animations. PES11 needs this stuff.
BUt then other stuff like scoring and defeding is annoying.

i played as spain 4-4 with england . thanks to high rated players scoring goals. I tried few other countries to see what they like ,
and some turd online calls me a traitor for not playign as england ?
must be 12 or 14.
no point in playing as 3 star teams or less , cuz theres no chance when david villa , and rooney can dash through and score everytime.

OH YH TO sum up the main reason i cant get into it.

I N D I V I D U A L I T Y .
reason i love PES

its just non-existant on fifa , even tho i sometimes hope their is . but theres not. its ok , has intense games, BUT...its just not as fun as pes [ i find]. but playing pes after fifas quite a laugh when it comes to animations , Konami need to freakin work .

i dunno.........im trading it for whatever is decent out their.

If this is true, I hope they do the same with Fifa 11 because I can't tell you how annoying it is playing clubs on Fifa 10 when you come up against the same old 5 defenders put right back on the line with 2 midfielders and 3 players all the way forward. Really irritating and unrealistic.

Not this Phatmann, Custom Tactics in terms of width, pressure, passing style etc. that you could use offline but not online in Fifa 10. I presume the World Cup game is the same? Though I'd like to see them fix the 7-0-3 formations properly, by realistic gameplay rather than an artificial block on doing it.

Ah ok. Damn. It is one of the biggest irritations with online play as it goes way back even to games of PES4 online where people would play 4-3-3 and stick 2 of the forwards right into the top corners of the pitch on the formation screen. It will be pretty hard for EA to combat it with realistic gameplay as some clever knobhead will always find a way around it with some wacky formation.

I have actually bought this from amazon as I remembered that I'd received a £20 amazon voucher recently so it's only costing me £14.91. It best be worth it.

I have to say, the scenarios mentioned earlier in this thread sound good as it's a mode I've always wanted to see make a return in the PES series but alas it hasn't...yet. The scenarios on ISS were always great fun.

Im terrible at this game but i just beat this guy 4-0 he was argentina and i was ghana. I went all out defensive and played on the counter. He used a 3-5-2 formation with messi leading the line (later changed to 2-5-2 as he got tevez sent off :D).

I just kept hitting him on the counter and playing the ball round keeping possesion. Now he's bombarding with messages calling a fucking cheating twat. I just messaged back 'dont hate the player, hate the game' lol.

I definitely agree with this. Although I prefer this and FIFA 2010 to PES 2010, on FIFA it doesn't matter if I have to play N'Gog over Torres for example, nothing feels different. It has no impact on how the team performs. It's not as if it's a like-for-like swap, one is a world class striker, the other is David N'Gog. You don't notice it as much playing against friends or even in a one off match, but over a season I've found myself growing quite bored and rarely bothering to carry on another season.

Im soo surprised that i havent conceded yet considering the Ghana goalie is shit.

uruguay won 3 matched in group , then lost to SA 4-3 , so freakin lucky.

now i started again as mexico, drew with italy , beat france 3-2, he was unlcuky
and then algeria , guy scored 3 own goals and left the game . i top the group.

im getting use to it ...... but i wish PES was a bit like this LOL

I found it to be faster with more of an arcade feel in comparison to FIFA 10. Knocking it down to "slow" gameplay speed is preferrable.

Good? Bad? I'm not sure. I grew tired of FIFA 10 in a small span of time and never truly got into it. I may still fire it up on the very rare occasion but, that is only because I need a football game to play, and PES 2010 is fucking dire. 2010 World Cup is a very similar release to FIFA 10. It instantly seems more enjoyable to pick up and play but, it's just not different enough to hold any extra lasting appeal than its predecessor. I'll probably continue to play it for a while (again due to wanting a football game to play) as my best mate owns it.

I'm actually really enjoying playing this at the moment and after a few failed attempts i finally got my teeth into the World Cup qualifying campaign, with Slovakia of all nations :erm:

For me there was enough improvements over Fifa 10 to warrant a purchase. Once you've played it you definitely won't go back to playing Fifa 10.

Anyways, heres my goals from my qualification. See if you can notice the hair glitch

Im enjoying this game though, Half way through Captain Your Country (just taken over Gerrard as Captain :D). I made my bloke a striker so i could get the two achievements (most hattricks and win award at end of tournament) playing on World Class difficulty and with such shit stats i couldnt score until a friendly match away to Germany where we won 5-0 with me scoring 4 :D.

I'm trying mostly as shit teams but it is very hard. Best i've done with a shit team is Kazakhstan to the quarter finals beating Brazil and Spain on the way =]

I'm still a little skeptical too. The demo feels a lot faster than FIFA 10, even if set to "slow", it still feels a touch fast. The pitch graphics are undoubtedly better though, and the presentation looks lovely, not £40 lovely mind.

I sold Fifa 10 and got this game, it's a vast improvement on the gameplay. Remember the demo is set to two minute half and as such the tempo is sped up, on 6 minute halves and slow I think the tempo is perfect. The gameplay is better, the graphics are better, the sound is more immersive and the presentation is smoother. It's a definite improvement on Fifa, I hope it bodes well for Fifa 11. This is I think the best football game I've played, it feels like genuine football in the way PES 5/6 did.

Won the World Cup for the first time, using Italy, trouncing England 4-0 in the final. I would have to say it wasn't particularly difficult. I am still playing through my Chile campaign, which I started before my Italy campaign, but qualifying in South America takes longer and I've been beset with friendlies. I've just qualified top of the group by 5 points, losing only two games; away to Argentina and away to Brazil. Oddly, I've been put in a group with Argentina and Peru, I didn't think you could have 3 teams from South America in one group.

Ive never won an online tournament though, always reach the final and get mugged but with taking Kazahkstan to the semi's I doubt Ill get any greater achievement on FIFa World Cup 2010.

It's an annual tournament that's in its third year now. From what I understand, it was £15 entry, of which £10 goes to the champ and £5 to the top scorer. There will be about 15 of us, two TVs/Xboxes, 6 minute games and £20 in, but we havent decided what the winnings are yet, we will do that once we get a final number of players. I should at least finish in the top three so I will be happy with whatever money I get.

The third TV we have will be showing the match from the actual World Cup, otherwise our comp would be done quicker but we have tons of grub, namely all for the BBQ. I forgot to mention that if its a good day we'll set up two gazebos out my backyard and take the TV etc out with us and use my neices kiddy pool to fill with ice and beer.

That sounds great. Unfortunately, my mates are spread out across football games and wouldn't decide on which game to put the money on. I can't understand why some of them are still playing PES, then again they were playing FIFA up until PES4. Maybe they'll come around soon, I could use the cash! Quite a tidy team goal with a tremendous run from Frings, sealing an away win after two Schweinsteiger goals.

Don't go there. The imaginary tackle that Zesh Rehman got sent off for within minutes of the Pakistan v India game set the refereeing standard for the night. That ball over the top in the North Korea game was never offside too.

Just won the World Cup on Legendary with Germany, obviously Germany are a good team but the manner of my victory goes a little beyond expectations I believe.

In my first group game, I slumped to a 1-1 draw with Cameroon. This made me fear for my chances in high altitude, however, my next game being against Uzbekistan, I did pick up 3 points with a convincing 5-0 win that in truth could have been into double figures. I finished top of the group after a comfortable 3-1 win over Sweden, their goal coming due a frustrating piece of ball watching from Lahm.

Into the first knockout stage, I was pleasently surprised to discover my opposition was the mighty Israel. I feel a comfortable win was expected in this one, I duly delivered with two goals each for Ballack and Podolski and a fifth from Jansen. Mertesacker and Westermann simply laughed at the Israeli attempts to breach my backline. In following game, however, Mexico wiped the smiles off their faces with Blanco slotting in from six yards out. His goal was meaningless though, as I'd stuck four in at the other end in the mean time. Gomez and Marin netting the goals, the latter with a delightful free kick.

In the semi-final I faced my first footballing superpower, Argentina. With no disrespect to Mexico this challenge was another level up. So I decided to turn on the style, Podolski opened the scoring with a beautiful left foot drive, Gomez buried three with Schweinsteiger rifling in another two. The only threat to my cleansheet came when Tevez tried a header from fifteen yards, their only effort at goal. Messi, Tevez, Rodriguez and company were quite comprehensively shut out. A thorough demolishing of Argentina, one in which Maradona even had the sense to take Zanetti and Cambiasso... it didn't help.

In the final and I have to take on Italy, who I was concerned about. A physical team with a Pirlo that seems to have time travelled from a period when he was actually talented. Most concerning was the fact they had Gigi in goal, scoring would be difficult. So it was, Trochowski's jaw nearly fell off when Gigi managed to block a point blank Gomez effort, get up as the ball fell to Piotr and scramble back into the middle before changing direction to get a hand up to stop Trochowski's top corner rocket. I was stunned. Even Gigi couldn't stop Bastian though, he opened the scoring from six yards with a composed finish, before completing his hattrick with the two screamers shown below. Gomez completed the rout and as ever Westermann and Mertesacker, screened by Frings kept the opposition at bay with little more than a sniff at goal.

I won the World Cup scoring 28 goals and conceding merely 3. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it from the qualifying campaign, right through to the final. This is the best football game I've played in a long time and it's nice to actually give a damn about scoring for a change. Despite my routs I feel I thoroughly earnt those wins and every goal by playing some excellent passing football. More to the point I didn't feel like the goals I conceded were a fix, they were actually my fault. Can't ask for more from a football game.

I'm playing a World Cup as Wales and for some reason Jason Koumas seems to have completely vanished from my squad. I have no idea why and I have no idea how. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It's rather frustrating as Koumas is quite an important player for Wales.

Original?

I had Salas disappear from my Chile squad a few games into qualifying. I presumed he'd retired from International Football.

Koumas: He retired from international football on 6 September, 2009,[19] having scored ten goals in 34 caps. His final appearance for Wales was in a 2–0 defeat to Finland on 28 March 2009.

StaVriS92

^ wow you mean, after this date, September 6, 2009, Koumas will be disappeared from the squad because he retired in real life?

Phatmann
09-06-2010, 21:09
Yeah. Unfortunately, his retirement came just before a crucial game for me against Holland, which I must win to have a chance of qualifying. Now I have to stick David Vaughan in there who is good but has an overall of 64 compared to Koumas who was in the 70's. I'm guessing this will be the same for any other international football retirements too, although most players are sensible enough to retire from international football before or after the qualifying is completed.

I would recommend this game to fill the gap between now and Fifa 11, it's definitely a step up from Fifa 10, particularly if you set the tempo to slow.

Yeah, bought it today, a bit of a let down. It improves on some FIFA 10 stuff but it's seems to have increased frustration simply for the fact it's made no improvement on the game cancelling your actions for no known good reason. Time after time (and this is just after an hour or two playing), the computer will decide not to pass the ball you've just picked out, I can see the power bar charging and nothing happening, and the computer will nick the ball off you before you've actually realised what's happened. Conceded too many goals because of this and I'm finding it hard to have fun.

I participated in a tournament yesterday, with some friends, for money. Four groups of three, with the top two going through. Everyone put £15 quid in with £10 going to the winner and £5 to the top scorer (not the gamer, but the actual footballer). After a record of 5-0 & 7-2 (group); 7-0 (quarter-final); and 2-0 (semis), I bottled it in the final and lost 3-0. I won the £60 top scorer prize, getting Liedson to score about 15 goals. However, come the final, my performance was well off. It was like Netherlands in '74.

We then went down to the park and played World Cup knock outs. Remember that? Score one goal in round one to go through; last one standing goes out; score two in round two and so on. I managed to get to the final, despite being insanely unfit, that I could taste the barbeque from earlier on with every gasp. I lost 4-3 to same guy that beat me at FIFA. Gutted and knackered, and I felt sore in the morning. Had great fun, though.

Having played this game now, I have to get it. The demo is much more rigid and definitely does not represent the final game. It feels more natural in regards to the player movements and technique. However, I'm still going to wait until after the World Cup, when I hope the price will go down.

I'd have thought the supermarkets and the like would be competing for sales on this during the World Cup, not waiting 'til the end.

Have you had a good look around? Surprised if it's still £35-40 in shops.

This game is definitely worth getting; I was gonna wait for FIFA 11 but I'm glad I've got this, it's a big improvement on FIFA 10, as good as that was when it'd just come out.

Does anyone else find the CPU on this game extremely brutal? I was playing a World Cup with Wales and in the final qualifying game I had to beat Holland to ensure a play-off place. I thought it would be a tough match but I ended up winning 3-0 after Mathijsen and Heitinga got sent off for taking me out when I was through on goal. They didn't learn their lesson as I met them in the semi-finals and Mathijsen got sent off again for taking me out. Sergio Ramos got sent off in my game against Spain and Lescott should've been sent off in my game against England. I don't know whether it's that my players are too quick or that the AI is shit.

I've only checked online and they do range between £35 and £40. I haven't tried in-store, because I assume it'll be the same, if not more expensive.

I got annoyed by Earnshaw being shit so I started playing Bale up there instead and he was far more effective. David Vaughan at CF was fantastic, which was a relief as I had previously been playing Koumas there until his unexpected retirement. :faceplm:

I would take you up on that offer but I'm getting a little bored of beating you all the time and surely it must be demoralising for you, so for your benefit too I shall have to pass.

I hear Berry is available for a thrashing. Or is it past his bedtime already?

You bought Fifa 10 and Red Dead Redemption, yet this is a waste of money? It's a significantly better game than both.

Phats, Bez just beat me 2-1 with Uruguay when I was Mexico*. Looks like it's time to put up.

*This is despite me dominating the game and playing some beautiful football and is in large part due to the inadequacies of Perez as a goalkeeper.

Why would you pay for Fifa 11 when you have already bought Fifa 10? It's the exact same principle. The gameplay improvements are significant and well worth the trade in/purchase price differential.

£35-40 for a game which is going to be surpassed by the next one in its series within four months? At least there's a calendar year between the main releases.

This is also a game with certain play types ripped out.

£35-40/(the amount of time you'll spend on a football game between purchasing the game and the release of Fifa 11) is a small amount of money indeed. The one game type I've never had any concerns about paying money for are football games, I know I will certainly get value out of it.

Anyway, I'm happy to play this game over any other football game until Fifa 11 comes out and hopefully that will surpass this.

This was a while ago, but damn, that burn still must be present, amirite Phatmann?!

So, I'm playing the Captain Your Country mode. Got to the World Cup, got my players stats up well. Lose to Italy first, then we beat Algeria and Ghana (two African sides shouldn't be in the same group, but whatever). We top the group (Italy go out), then we have to play Brazil.

Brazil go 2-0 up (Kaka and Melo :|), but just before half time Rooney scores. Mid way in the second half, I equalise. I should have won it at the end but miss. Extra time has started, I hit the post, it bounces off and Rooney hits the post rather than scores in the open goal (). Graftie hits the post for them. Penalties!

I'm the captain, so I change the order so I take the first one. I score. Kaka scores. Rooney scores. Fabiano scores. Lampard is saved (). Gilberto scores. Gerrard scores. Bastos scores.

Carrick steps up. He has to score to keep us in. Carrick fucking blasts it wide :realmad:
