is ages away, which is good. by the time ive abused battlefield ill be wanting a new shoot em up to take its place
Campaign will be fun to do, but already have feelings that the online play will be easy to glithch, hack and ofcourse some over powered guns and killstreaks. Oh and not forgetting those @#*!ing tanks online.
The jury is well and truly out on this one... Treyarch haven't exactly set the world alight with their COD's. Perhaps the new cold war setting and a little free licence rather than the strict accurate models may help.
I'll wait to be convinced though.

Well at least it isn't exactly the same as MW2.
Looks quite good, but so did MW2. I'm still torn between this and MoH.
Probably wise to get neither due to the lack of destructible environments and vehicles in both games.

And it turned out bad? :lmao:
Everyone knows Dan hated MW. As soon as he picked up that other faggy game, he never went back.
It's was a load of wad compared to Modern Warfare plain and simple.

Surprised there's not a lot more interest in this thread considering the game is out in less than a month?
Anyway Treyarch have big boots to fill and I hope they succeed as I was reading the other week Infinity Ward went bust!
Either way Call of Duty is always guaranteed to have a good few days of my playing time, especially online.

This is a definite buy for me. Even if the online mode turns out not to be as good as previous games, I loved playing 4-player offline multiplayer with my friends.
The story mode seems interesting too. Which, for me, most FPS games lack.

Yea I might pre-order this before the end of the week, originally I planned to get it from ASDA as a midnight release - but unless I turn up about 9pm the queue's will be insane!
Last year for CoD (and before with GTA) people had been queueing since 3/4pm!
Might just wait 'til Xmas for this, like I did with MW2 last year
Unless I hear wonderful feedback about it in here when it's out next month...
Zombie mode!
That is all.

Taken from PSU
The balance feels REALLY good with no Stopping Power/Juggernaut.
So, the only thing that makes your player stronger is the weapon you choose. Which is how it should have been from the start.
The perk combo is definitely something to get used to. But it's a great change.
The weapons I got to use were really good. I started off with the M16 and found that it takes more than one burst to kill someone. FINALLY. THE M16 DOESN'T FEEL LIKE A ROOKIE GUN (as much).
I didn't get to try out every weapon, but I really liked the FAMAS, which is now fully auto. It will probably have a permanent spot on my class list. I also used the M1911, in beautiful shining silver as my secondary, which was a nice companion.
The AK74u, Galil, and the MP5k prototype were also great weapons.
I ended up using a Galil with Warlord (Bling) with a suppressor (which wasn't cheap) and a blue customized RDS for Search and Destroy. Being able to pick your perks early is a nice change, so I was S&D ready from the start.
Many of you were curious about the snipers. There are 4. Dragonuv, WA2000, L96, and the PSG1.
- The Draggie wasn't horrible, but like CoD4, I had some hitmarkers. But it will deliver.
- The WA2000 feels nice. Scopes in fast and looks better in this game than MW2. Again, hitmarkers happened often, and I found myself taking two shots to take down an opponent.
- The PSG1 was horrible. I got 8 hitmarkers in a row with this gun. Not a single one shot kill.
- The L96 is the winner. Bolt action. This games Intervention/M40/R7.
The scope in is fast, it sounds badass and has the power of a reg scope M40.
You have to hit the torso and above to get a one shot kill, which is balanced.
The reload of the bolt is a little slow, but is definitely a good gun... especially with Warsaw camo
Also, the scope choices are cool. The normal scope, the infrared scope and the variable zoom scope are great. I will most likely go with the variable zoom, which allows for 3 zoom levels. Great stuff, and will make for some awesome montage clips.
The level of camo, RDS, lenses and facepaint customization is amazing.
The emblem editor alone can keep you busy for hours. Endless possibilities. I ended up making this 5 layered atomic symbol with gray, white and black colors. It looks sweet on the side of my FAMAS.
Game winning killcams return... in EVERY gametype. Every gametype shows the last kill as a round winner, game winner, or the new term "game ending" killcam. So, Domination, Demolition, CTF, and HQ all have GWK's. In addition to the classic, FFA, TDM and S&D GWK's. Whoa, a lot of acronyms there. I didn't lose you, right?
COD Points, which I call CoPo, is pretty easy to come by. But, it also goes by quickly.
The first attachment I bought for every weapon was extended mags. Which runs at 500 CP. One of the cheapest attachments. Suppressors, on the other hand, are 2000 CP. Quite the difference. I won't get into pricing specifics, but everything costs money. So, spend wisely...
Graphically, the game isn't as stunning as MW2. The gun/player models aren't the best. But that's something I got over quickly. The voice overs are also not as good as MW2's. But again, something that certainly won't stop me from playing once it releases.
There's a section on the UI called "Community" which has 4 tabs - Films, Clips, Screenshots and Custom Game Modes. So all players can see other players material on the community board. Pretty sweet.
Killstreaks seemed balanced, and didn't really overwhelm the map. I didn't get to test out all of them. The chopper gunner and gunship were really fun, and didn't seem too overpowered. They were NOTHING like the chopper gunner from MW2. No thermal sights, and very small red squares around enemy players. These killstreaks require some skill. Finally.
The RC-XD is common, but not much of a burden. It rarely gets more than two kills at a time, so it's not much of a multi-kill machine. Although I know it will happen. It's also easy to shoot, so you find yourself being chased by one, it's relatively easy to get rid of.
Overall, from the 12 straight hours I had on the beta, I'd say it's a promising game. I am really excited to play the final version and get this madness rolling. If you read this far, congratulations. I spent more time than I should have writing all of this, and I'm sure I forgot something.

Sounds good definitely. I just pray they leave the kill streak dogs out as I read in an Xbox magazine they're returning, and they'd really break my balls if that's the case.
I've read that the dogs are returning again as well so I've been on W@W to get used to dealing with them again.

It's in. I think it's allocated for 11 killstreaks. The other killstreaks is chopper gunner, I think.
Regarding killstreaks, if you get a kill from a RC car (which is obtain if you reach 3 kills), your kill-in-a-row remains at that number, 3, not 4.
One thing that I'm unhappy with, The Last Stand is in the game.
So surprised that this thread has only 2 pages.

Quickscoping 'gimped' in Black Ops
"Quickscoping is a cheap way to play," tweeted Treyarch's communiy man Josh Olin. "We're specifically going to gimp Quickscoping, sorry. Play straight-up!"
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=271532
Not a problem for me. I've never quickscope in MW2.
That's a shame, quickscoping in private matches with friends was good on MW2.
You're getting n00b tubed from one side of the map to the other, and the grenade doesn't even land near you, yet you still die.
You've got that ridiculous One Man Army, where people to just shoot two n00btubes, use OMA to get more and repeat the cycle for the whole game.
Yeah, quickscoping really is the main issue.

I Pre-ordered this game a few weeks ago from G force, I get mine on the 6th. Dont know what to expect this year to be honest. Fell out with MW2 due to the fakeness of the game, with no-scoping etc. The people have ruined the online game really with these insane 1200 no scopes and stuff. Making it really geeky with users actually paying to make them go up in ranks has made me stop playing it a few months ago. If this one is the same I think I will be returning it.

Yea it was a joke, if someone said to me you can have a knife or a gun - I know what I'd pick every day, but for some reason a knife is more powerful than a gun thesedays?
Depends where you got shot or knived really; a knife to the back obviously means lights-out, as does a headshot with a gun. I wouldn't say a knife's more powerful...

I used that combination in certain levels (closer ones). It's a load of fun, because you just don't stop to think. Especially when you have tactical knife as a handgun attachment.
I don't get the hate for akimbo though. They've never troubled me that much and it's not like it's a farfetched scenario.
The SPAS makes me sick though. It's range is so ridiculous.

It's all coming back to me. I've decided to borrow my mate's copy of MW2, and it reminded me why I sold mine in the first place.
Anyway, as for Marathon, in Black Ops, it's not going to be unlimited sprint. I'm not sure about the other perks though.

Is it just me or hasn't this CoD been marketed as much as the last one? I remember last year EVERYONE was talking about it, this year..not so much?
Because it's not part of the Modern Warfare series.
A kid on my friends list on PS3 is on it right now; anyone here got their copy a day early through post?
Facebook is full of people saying they've been playing it all day, it's epic etc etc etc.
Gun_Runner you're bang on man, this Call Of Duty hasn't been marketed nearly half as much as Modern Warfare 2. But I don't think it's because it's not a MW game either Joel. I can't think of a reason why tbh, but I don't think it's that.

The fact this thread only has 4 pages says a lot as well
Who is getting the game (poll added)?
I'll be getting the game definitely. I'm popping to Tesco tomorrow morning with a mate and I think I'll buy it for £25 (providing I buy 2100 Xbox points or 3 months Live). I'll go for the points I think and possibly sell them for about £15 to make the game equal £27-29 which is great value.
I just can't be arsed to stand in a line tonight to be honest, it's probably going to piss down as well. It's supposed to piss down all day tomorrow with force winds too so I'll just relax in on the game since I have to day off from uni.
I definitely agree though about it not being as strongly marketed and pushed as MW2. Last year, HMV was draped in MW2 posters and adverts, today I saw one or two small Black Ops posters on the window.

Casual game of the year here. Everyone I know seems to have bought it or will buy it this week, even those who dont buy games but have a console have bought it!! Facebook seems to be covered in "OMG COD" style messages, and i've had about 5 texts in the past 30 mins asking when i'm getting in or if i want to go round and play it.
I had a go on it in GAME today, and will admit it looks great. Not my cup of tea though.
In response to original!, i dont think the devs name had anything to do with lack of interest, especally considering pre-orders have outpaced those for MW2. I think it is more to do with the fact it isnt "Modern Warfare" because we all know next year when Modern Warfare 3 comes out and the key devs from IW have already gone, the game will still be the mega bucks, mega pushed title that the previous 2 have been.
The ords Call of Duty and Modern Warfare are guaranteed seller now even though there has been no evolution in the title for 4 years. Unoriginal IPs sell, originality bombs =[
What did you trade in for it, HH?
I traded MW2, NBA 2K10 and Red Dead. I know I'll probably regret giving Red Dead but I already completed it and the DLC never appealed to me.
I'm loving the Tomahawk

Probably would have got around £45 for them all after fees. I never understand trading games in to be honest, it's the equivalent of a bird shitting on you, it landing on your mouth and you then willingly licks your lips.
Just bought mine from Tesco this morning along with the 2100 Xbox Live points since they had around 200+ Black Ops games in stock. Cost me £42 overall, but if I decide to sell the Xbox Live points, it'll bring the Black Ops purchase total down to around £27.

Tomahawk indeed! First time I used it I killed some lemming who was just standing still
Fucking loving this game. Haven't played campaign yet. Just jumped straight online and have had some good games. Kill/death ratio is close right now, but I haven't had more deaths than kills since the first game I played.
Last game could have gone terrible though. Was like 4/12 and struggling, but then I stabbed like four guys in a row and killed 3 others got my helicopter, care package and spy plane (UAV) and completely turned the game on its head. We were losing by like 1000 points, but we won the game in the end.
I'm just loving the sounds, atm. It's those little things that impresses me.
I'm fucking shit online. COD4 and MW2 I was pretty decent (ratio of around 1.65+ or thereabouts). Since I went online with Black Ops though I've been failing more often than not. My first game I went like 2-12
I've been picking it up the last few matches though and can do some serious damage with the MP5K when in close range. I used to love sniping but I'm really struggling with it at the moment as you now need to hit the neck and above in order to score a 1-shot kill. It should be chest and up I think with the lower torso just being a stun depending on the range you've been hit from.
I've noticed the knife glitching is still present unfortunately. A few times I've been been 5-7 yards away from my enemy when he's swung his knife into thin air and "killed" me. It's like Stretch Armstrong with a boomerang knife. I mean I've been knifed plenty of times already online, and in one match it was 3 times in a row. I can accept a lot of them, and while I get annoyed it's with myself for being 'merked' so easily, but I go fecking ape when it's clear the enemy is several yards away with his knife.
I've been playing a lot of the campaign today actually which is an achievement in itself as I never usually bother with them. I completed COD4s, never bothered with WaW and only completed about half of MW2. COD just isn't a single player series really, it's only there to serve a purpose to those who can't afford internet and online play. I'm really enjoying the campaign so far though, I'm not sure how much of the way I'm through but guessing I'd say maybe 50% or so. While there aren't as many "epic" or huge moments as there was in MW2 I don't think, the story itself is a hell of a lot more solid and easier to follow. The characters are more developed and interesting, and you feel more of a connection with them in comparison to previous games. There's still some really great moments I've been through so far, needless to say the guns are really nice to use as well. :)

Don't you think killing people isn't as satisfying? When you shoot someone it feels like you're just shooting a cardboard cutout & the guns don't have that feel to them. Trust me I know how killing someone feels so I'm an expert.
I'm enjoying Black Ops alot more than i did with MW2 when it was first released, which is a good sign i suppose.

I know me too, i've killed over 9000 people. All jokes aside, I totally agree. There's jsut no weight to anything, people move way too fast, guns just spit out bullets like peas, it just doesn't feel right.
Looks exactly the same as MW2, just a bit worse and darker, its ridiculously fast, like played at breakneck speeds.
Disagree with this. Don't think it looks anything like Modern Warfare 2. And it definitely doesn't feel like it either. One thing I have noticed about Treyarch and Infinity Ward is that both have their own identity even if they are making the same game.
I should know this though, as I played MW2 for more or less the whole year
I am enjoying this, but I prefer the MW series. If all the changes are just maps, guns, equipment, perks, killstreaks and minor tweaks to the game, that does not bother me at all. Reason why is because I think it's an excellent game already and it needs no massive overhauls. Just tweaks to make it feel different and I feel it has delivered.
It's by far better than World At Shitty Ass War, so they've improved on their last game.

Dont worry guys, next years title will be set in the future with space marines.
Oh, and i'm not joking.
Ridiculously fast? Are you on meth? This game is almost as slow as Battlefield.
It's actually a bit too easy online at the moment. I killed six guys on a bridge on one map. They just kept running across even though they saw me taking out all of their guys.
They need to transform from n00bs faster.
Well I guess it was just the level I was playing then, I suppose I was being chased by people, so it must have seemed fast.
Looks exactly the same as MW2 in my opinion, and it doesn't look like they have changed anything at all.
Major disappointment, but then again, I wasn't going to buy it anyway, so no money wated for me :D
I agree with Joel, this game is definitely better than MW2 in my opinion. COD4 was the dogs bollocks, WaW was shite, and while MW2 was very good, it just didn't hit the same level of immenseness that COD4 had because of the sheer volume of glitches, hacks and bugs. Every match on MW2 involved some form of glitch, hack or bug, and that is being totally honest. It had potential to be an outright classic but Infinity Ward fucked it up by not protecting the game enough.
Black Ops though is really brilliant and the new points/currency system is a touch of class. Why should I have to wait hours and hours and hours on end just to unlock certain scopes for specifics weapons, providing I've levelled up enough and used the weapon in question constantly. It's a far better system now and gives the player a great freedom of choice, and allows the player to fully customise his weaponry on his own terms - to an extent. Treyarch have struck gold with the new system.
The gampleay itself is great too, and feels a shit load more balanced than MW2 ever did. The kill streaks aren't overpowering anymore and there is very rarely the sight of a noob-tube. The game encourages more tactical and precision play, even in the smaller faster paced maps. Whereas on smaller maps on MW2 it descended into frag fests and grenade launchers, in BO however, everyone is using bullets instead of bombs. The weaponry itself seems a lot more fun to use also, bar the sniper rifles unfortunately which I'm finding a bit hit and miss now. Sometimes I get one shot kills in the upper body, other times the enemy sprints away. Anywhere in the chest up should be an instant one shot kill I believe using a sniper rifle, however I hear the "classified" sniper (classified as you have to purchase the other 3 before you receive the chance to unlock it) is a one hit kill sniper rifle so that will be great to use I can imagine.
The whole interface for Black Ops is a lot nicer too, and while the graphics are probably a step down just ever so slightly, the gameplay at it's core is a lot more balanced making it more fun - even if I am getting my arse handed to me most of the time at the moment.

I'm happy they took out the quick scoping geeks that go on small maps and end up getting your team beat. Got my game on Friday, and have been playing it non stop I think! Completed the campaign mode last night. Found the campaign good and weird at the same time. Online is great also, love how you can customize loads of stuff, and use points you've gained to get weapons, perks and attachments. Overall I'm very happy I bought it.

Nice to see you're enjoying it as well.
I'm currently playing through the campaign and I'm probably 70% of the way through I'd say at a guess. There isn't as many "epic" moments as there was in MW2's campaign I don't think but as a story, it's a lot more solid and you feel a stronger connection with the character(s) as they progress. There are still some great moments of course and some really well thought out missions. I'd say the campaign is a step up on MW2's as well in terms of it's story telling.

Definitely! I never really liked MW2, due to the cheaters being able to use aimbot and cheat to get the rank 70 10th prestige. Really put a downer on a game that could have been so much better. I think that's why everyone that didn't like MW2 went back to COD4, you do get cheats on all games, but MW2 was something else. Yeah, the story mode was brilliant, you're right about the epic moments. But, like all games, it gets better as the story progresses. Good to see you're enjoying it too. I only have 1 issue with Black ops - when you invite your friend to play alongside you, and he can't connect for whatever reason, sometimes it doesn't let you send another invite. I don't know if it's just my game or if its happening to everyone else.

Yeah, Infinty Ward lost total control on the COD community once hacking and glitching came into play. The best solution they could come up with was hoping Microsoft would ban some consoles, that was about it. The community definitely took MW2 into their own hands, and bled it until there was nothing left.
I slightly misjudged my calculation on how much of the story I had left - I've just finished.
You're right, it did get more epic as the campaign progressed but I didn't want to actually say it incase people didn't actually want to know a thing with regards to the campaign. There really is some great moments in the campaign and I have to commend Treyarch and Activision on the story, as they managed to hit all the right notes and really string it together well.
After reading through here, I can't wait to get this next week... The new points system sounds great! I also heard at school that you can create your own emblems after a certain level, how exactly does this work? Is there a large range of images to choose from?
How are the maps and weapons on it? I heard the maps are more compact, and there's hardly any places to snipe on the maps.
I've also heard sniping is horrible; can anyone confirm this?

Congrats on finishing the game, yeah, me to, I hate when people ruin it for everyone. It's one of my pet hates! Treyarch have done a good job this year in my opinion. Taken over from Infinity Ward, and possibly, have done even better. I played zombies yesterday, even the zombie mode has improved since WaW. Seems harder to kill the zombies, so you need to get your power guns out quick style.
Fair point on n00btubers. I haven't been killed by one at all yet. But tbf, in the first months of MW2, it was the same.
I love the MW series, so I'm probably very biased towards it, but I've had fun with this so far. Deaths feel a bit more fair and killstreaks aren't dominating games (so far). It's all about skill so far, but I feel as the game gets older that will be thrown out of the window, because people always find ways to spoil a game (MW2).

Read through Hunter's posts. He pretty much confirmed this.

Yeah, I agree. The hackers will always find a way to get through. Pretty much ruins the game for all the people who play fair. Then again, you'll always get someone who will try to fuck it up for everyone, and find it amusing.
Thank you, Teyarch.
Zombie mode that is all.
Just started the SP and the missions are pretty darn good so far. Seen a few silly bugs, such as the guy ur suppose to follow getting stuck in a pillar and having to restart or players on your team that have been killed are dead on the floor but their weapons are lying on the floor still killing enemies lol.

I can't really be bothered with yearly updates of the same game. Just like with most sports franchises. I'll aim to get Modern Warfare 3 if Infinity Ward still exists by then(?) though I think most of the employees left so I doubt it'll be much cop.
Gran Turismo 5 takes a higher priority, and LBP2/Mass Effect 2 will in January.
Ok so my earlier posts were about the single player, I should have mentioned really.
My brother bought it fromt Tesco's today, and hes playing the multiplayer right now and it does look quite good. More like Moder Warfare, which is a step up in my opinion from the horror fest of MW2.
Hunter, you are right, the layout of it looks excellent. Almost Halo Reach-ish.

I've only played about 2 hours of Solo Campaign & 1 hour of Online...
Solo seems to repetitive I think? And to me it seems that when you're getting shot - half the time because the screen turns red, you don't know who the fuck it is?
Online is good though apart from the fact it takes ages to mute everyone in the main menu (pisses me off) and I don't know if I like the option to replay the previous map?
So far I've played on Grid about 5 times out of 10!
What a disappointment. :(

True, I can't wait for GT5 either. It's going to be great in 2017 when they finally decide to release it.

We should open a bet thread to see what will be released first:
Gran Turismo 5
or
Detox.
What will come first:
The release of GT5 or the worldwide legalisation of cannabis?
What's with the lack of variety in the maps? I've been playing a good 5 or 6 hours now and there's about 4 or 5 levels that are so similar I can't tell the difference :/ They seem to have just threw in gimmicks to seperate them (hatch opening and closing, rocket taking off, train going by...etc.)
The dive feature is quite legendary though, having lots of fun with this. Plus zombies is obviously a plus.
Wait... What dive feature?!
When you're sprinting, then hold B (O on PS3 I guess?!) and you're guy dives to the ground.
Call of duty Black ops is far better than MW2. Treyarch always make call of duty a balanced game not a noobs game like MW2.
World at war was another example of a balanced game (minus the mp40 lol).
The thing is that yesterday, I had serious lag issues in multiplayer and the framerate was terrible (ps3). I heard that this problem was present in some areas.
Today it was much better and I finally managed to play this game like it should have been played. It's great so far. Though the lag and framerate issues are still present at times, it is much less than yesterday. So I suppose in a few more days, they'll be gone. Well I hope so.
Anyway back to the game.
Even the maps are balanced. There's room to play with every kit you want and still do good in most maps as long as you play your kit right.
I also really like the currency system. That way I unlock what I want.
When I learn the maps better, I believe I can hold more than a 2k/d because in this game, it's all about you mostly not the kit. In mw2, it was all about the launchers, rpgs, grenades, rifle grenades, explosions, kill streaks, and the ease of shooting.
This time it's alot harder to shoot someone down and there's a clear realistic buttlet time sort of where if thery're running, you have to aim a little bit further to where they're running.
I like that. And I also really like the dive feature.
Anyway, I really hope they fix the lag and framarate because in my country it's still not as smooth as it should be, though much better than yesterday's.

The AI is shite on this & grenades are fucking shit. I'd decided I hate this game & will be selling it. Fuck you Treyarch!
Multiplayer sucks proper balls. Shooting an enemy in the head 2 or 3 times (it actually makes the sound of a headshot) without killing them is pathetic. I'll try HC mode before selling this though, in case that's ok.
One thing that is fucking epic though...
Combat training (with a friend or two)
Tomohawks
Ballistic Knifes
Melee
ONLY (you'll need Scavenger too)
vs 9 computer enemies on Nuketown. It's fucking hilarious. I did that dive through the window of the top floor and Ballistic Knifed someone as I hit the floor down below.

 You need to upload it to Theatre Mode and show everyone!
Loving this game so far, there needs to be a few more memorable maps though that favour sniping. But on the whole the balance of the game is great and far superior to what MW2 is. It's a more difficult game to master I think with more emphasis on the gunplay as opposed to overpowered set ups that plagued MW2 e.g. Danger Close perk combined with RPGs and Grenade Launchers, M16 with Stopping Power etc etc.
I don't think you can record Combat Training, can you?
Good point. Possibly though, I know the previous 100 matches you've played are saved, so maybe combat training games are saved, worth checking out I guess.
I think a mate did as he got a Tomohawk kill right off spawn and was gutted he couldn't save it.
Will check later.

Yo guys! I have mw2, I didnt play it at all you know...now this BLack ops just came out and game stop is offering one of his trade in think and the only title that I have so far in the list in mw2....so you guys think it will be a good idea to tradein mw2 which I think it will be literally gifting mw2 to get a 20 backs off for Black OPS?????
I take it everyone has figured out the Zombies cheat now, Dead Ops Arcade is fucking immense.
I'm starting to come round to the game now, WMD is a great level as is Nuketown. And some of the pro perks are great, especially Hardline.

Yes dead ops arcade is fucking brilliant. Got to like level 24.

Tried demolition mode again today as I've preferred domination so far in Black Ops...106 kills - 11 deaths I ended up with, that's my best so far :) was rather chuffed with it, me and another guy in my team were sort of competing against each other for top spot. He ended up with 93 kills & 20 odd deaths - still a brilliant return!
This game has really grown on me, I advise everyone to unlock all of the Assault Rifles to get the classified G11 gun - IMMENSE!

I'm starting to get really into this game now, with an admittedly slow start. I'm liking the Enfield with Silencer and Reflex Sight. Some times though it seems I have to unload an entire clip to kill one, maybe two guys.
Have to add; some quality emblems from people out there. Mine is pretty shit at the moment though.
I'm using MI6 with the ACOG, works a treat. Love the crossbow too.
I've been using the FAMAS with RDS (changed to Teal ying & yang). Also loving the crossbow. It's quality when you stick someone in the back and they run off panicking!! haha!
Saw a brilliant playercard the other night. It was a horse with a massive bellend spunking all over the back of a gorilla!! hahaha!!:w00t
People tend to just camp with the Famas on this game. There was camping on MW2 (hold down a certain area) but people on this game just hide round corners waiting for people.
Treyarch could have made this game much better, but opted to make it more user friendly for those players that wouldn't usually be any good at this kind of game.
Either the AUG with extended mags or the silenced AK47 are the only guns I like. The Famas is decent, but the recoil is awful for long distance shots.
Treyarch could have made this game much better, but opted to make it more user friendly for those players that wouldn't usually be any good at this kind of game.
I have to completely disagree with this point.
MW2 relied hugely on killstreaks and was a lot more "user friendly" than Black Ops. In MW2 people played solely for killstreaks and the killstreaks themselves were very overpowered and so they did a lot of the work in winning matches. A lot of the perks on MW2 catered for more "noobie" play too which took a lot of skill out of the game - such as Stopping Power, One Man Army, that explosive one that people whored too when equipped with an RPG and Grenade Launchers. There was so many overpowered combos in relation to perks and weapons that it really didn't require that much skill to rack up kills and once you achieved a helicopter, chopper gunner etc it was game over really not to mention a nuke for Christ's sake.
Black Ops though seems to be more stripped with a back to basics approach in terms of the gameplay, and it works, mostly. The guns take more getting used to it seems and the recoil is a bit harsher (probably more representative of their real life counterparts) and it can be difficult to control at times but that's why you learn to tap the trigger in bursts for the majority of the time - over mid to long range anyway.
I've been playing BareBones Pure TDM a lot lately though, which is excellent. No perks or killstreaks. Just you and your gun, a grenade and some stuns/smoke (or whatever they're called now). So much fun.

Agreed with Hunter. Sure it could be better if camping wasn't present, but seriously, I can't think of anything that would stop camping, it happens in literally every FPS I've encountered.
The only thing I can think of is a sudden death if you're stationary for too long, which I think is too far of a step.
MW2 had overpowered perks/weapons/killstreaks but BO has gone 180 degrees and made everything underpowered (with the exception of Claymores).
An RPG shot literally a yard behind them and they don't die? Something is wrong there.
Oh, and I didn't like getting Quickscoped on MW2 but to completely nerf sniping like they have is just pathetic. They've almost rendered snippy rifles useless.

Noticed that with the update you had to download today in Black Ops...you can no longer continuosly vote to 'play again' on a certain map, you can only play on it - then vote again once - after that it takes the option away, which is a good thing because so many people would rip the piss out of playing on Nuketown.
Absolutely loving this game at the moment and the things like player emblems & facepaint etc just make it more interesting :)

Yeah I've done split screen online with a mate. It's alright, since I don't have a headset I can actually use a bit of teamwork this way. The other person gets their own exp points and coins to spend, which doesn't affect your normal player.
I'm not a massive fan of the maps. Nuketown is fun like Scrapyard and Dome were for your massive shoot-em-up. However the only other maps I even remotely like are Firing Range and Summit. WMD and Grid are okay-ish as long as you're not being raped but the rest are really bad. I know it may be a matter of size with me liking the smaller(ish) maps but I just feel that in the bigger ones you spend about half a minute getting to a place with any kind of decent action only to be killed off someone sitting in a house or elevated position of some sort.

Swastika? Seriously? I don't mean to overreact but simply what is the point? You say it was purely to see what it would look like but that's tosh to be honest, every other lobby I go in I see some arse with a swastika symbol thinking it's funny. I've started filing bad rep against them too as well, it's one thing hearing bad language on Live which is expected and isn't a problem but to promote neo-Nazism is just embarrassing.
I agree with the face paints making it more interesting though, especially when you match your face paint to your uniform, I'm quite a mark for customisation.

Strangely, it seems very rare that I come across people using headsets on Black Ops. It could just be because I usually play Mercenary TDM in fact, but still, there seemed to be a lot more headsets used in MW2 - but it's six and two three's as a lot of those who spoke on the headset were complete mongs on MW2, primarily children aged around 10.

I have it on ps3. THE CONNECTION PROBLEMS ARE HUGE.
3 bars is unplayable. The delay between a 3 bar connection and a 4 bar is so big.
Also there are connection issues and LAG with server on ps3.
On youtube everyone owning both 360 and ps3 are saying that the 360 version is much smoother and has much less lag. :( Though with every patch, the connection is getting better on ps3. But still from what I hear is far from what the X360 version has to offer.

I've noticed the connection is getting better on PS3 however I still get random freezes when I'm waiting to join a game and it says 'Waiting For Other Players' - massive pain in the tits!
So who else has downloaded the map pack then? :joel:
I'm currently playing Berlin Wall - and when I say playing, I mean roaming around by myself in Private match. Berlin Wall is truly brilliant, the level of detail is great and it genuinely feels like you're decades back in Germany, the atmosphere is spot on. Not to mention the map is pretty damn big too, so to carry that level of detail over such a large area, with little unique spots as well is nice to see. I'm currently sat in a wooden oak bar in the corner chillin', seems like it a nice hang out spot. It's taken me about 5-7 minutes to really explore and appreciate just this map so far, and more specifically, just one side of the map so far. I've still a lot more to go.
If the rest of the maps follow with a similar level of great atmosphere and detail then it really could be a brilliant map pack.
EDIT: Quick thoughts:
I haven't played it much so my opinion isn't set in stone yet.
I do love Berlin Wall and Discovery though, as well as Kuwoon or whatever it's name is. Stadium on the other hand I find to be quite dull if I'm honest. There's no real atmosphere to Stadium, it's merely a small concrete map with bits of litters and coloured flags, needless to say I'm a little disappointed. It's a little bit unfortunate we don't have another large open map to utilise the sniper rifle though because while Berlin is great, there isn't particularly any other map where the sniper can be fully utilised in the way it should be.Wasteland was a great map for this in MW2. People can say it was dull, and they're entitled to their opinion but considering a lot of maps favoured the run n gunner, it's only right to even the balance and treat the more methodical players such as snipers.
I'm personally more of a distance player, I don't like to get my hands too dirty so to speak. I'd love to be great with the shotgun because it's the definition of a kick down the door and start blasting gun, but the truth is I suck with it, and I'm happy to admit that unfortunately. I am however quite handy from afar, especially with the M16, so that is usually my gameplan - to tread the edges and stay out of sight if possible. It's proving difficult to do so on Stadium with it being such a confined map (despite being labelled as 'medium' size). I just think the layout of the Stadium map could have been so much better.
Still, Berlin is fantastic and there's a real sense of atmosphere and distinct uniqueness about it.
am i the only who is getting annoyed with this game? Like one day your gun takes a few bullits to kill and then the day after with the same gun takes forever to kill. Is it just me? Honestly its annoying as hell!
PEM, you have to always try take into account when shooting at your enemy that Black Ops is fucking gash.

 Well i can't go back to Modern Warfare 2, its completely hacked! Every game you go into is a lobby!
To be honest, its all i play whenever i'm on my PS3 as Pro Evo is worse!
Every game you go into is a lobby? Errrrrrrrr, what you getting at?
There are plenty of boosted/hacked players on there yes, but you'll only get into hacked or booster lobbies if you ask or agree to (for cash). I enjoy running around with my RPG on my should or S&D and wait for the hateful messages to come flooding in :)
Clearly you haven't been on MW2 recently? All the time in the middle of the game i get killed randomly due to "invisible players" or the other team has "aim bot" or some form of advantage. Last time they some how added trees to the map and surrounded me with them and then kept killing me.
EDIT: This is PS3 by the way.
Then that's the PS3 (the shit console) which is the problem.
I play MW2 two to three times a week and NEVER have hacked lobbies. You can tell boosters from the spinning 10th emblem and hackers from illegal clantags, coloured names or controller buttons as names etc but that's about it.

Meh..I had an Xbox, didn't really like it. Halo is all i miss from the Xbox but GT is what made me move away from it. Forza was just shocking.
Everyone knows MW2 was more broken than Djibril Cisse's legs.
Good while it last but unfortunately the hackers got to it (Xbox 360 version), the air support was whored and the cunts took over. It's a shame really. Some good maps though.
Black Ops is a greatly balanced game, with the emphasis back on the player and their ability.
Ziss is just a MW2 fag. ;)
Played this for the first time at a mate's on Saturday. Credit to Treyarch for for adding split-screen online and offline games with AI bots. Having the AI take the names of people from your friends list is a genius touch. Apparently they regularly get angered by deaths at the hand of AI AndyClimax.

When my father first got the game he was sharpening his skills on Combat Training. He thought he was doing brilliant as he was killing me every so often, he thought several people on his friends list were in the game with him. Bless.
But yeah, Treyarch have really done a brilliant job this year. I disliked COD3 and sold WaW within a few months but I'm really enjoying Black Ops so far. They're providing continuous community support as well by solving all problems with updates when they're needed (for example the AK74u was slightly overpowered, and as such it was probably the most used weapon, so they tweaked it's stats slightly so it's a little less effective now, which is nice to see). It's genuinely nice when the developer doesn't just release a game and then dismiss it for the community to be stranded with elements within the game broken. I'm referring to all games here as it frequently happens doesn't it. So I think it's evident that Treyarch have really put a special effort into Black Ops, not just during the development process but after support too which is wonderful. Credit where it's due.
I think I'll have a few games on myself now.
As for whether the map pack is worth it, I'd definitely say so. At the end of the day it's about £9, and if you play Black Ops regularly enough then you're undoubtedly going to get your moneys worth and then some. I bought a sandwich and a bottle of Diet Coke the other day which came to £5. You see my point here don't you? There isn't much you can buy for £10 or less thesedays, shit, even a cinema ticket and drink costs nearly that and while it's a great experience more often than not, it's over within 2 hours.

Haha same as mine bro, he is epically shit at the game, but he thinks he's god because he gets kills in training ground haha Pretty funny really.
He got so good at killing bots that he ventured out into the proper online, and to be fair he didn't do so bad. Not as bad as I thought he would anyway

Yeah
I think mine has a K/D of around 0.90 so that's not too bad really. Mine is at 2.00 but it's difficult to maintain really. I was in great form for a few weeks not so long back so it shot up from about 1.20 or so to 2.05 (or around that mark). Back to grinding out good scores when I can really. It's a bit of a shame that there's so much emphasis on K/D though as it takes away from the team really banding together for the win, as everyone is off fending for themselves.
Yeah

well said. I play with 5 of my friends so we usually have a good team for a game of domination, its great when your put against another team, brings the team aspect out. otherwise when its 6 of us vs 6 randoms we just go for personal glory and maintain our K.D.
Mines around the 1.8 mark but to be honest most of that is credited to my lovely attack dogs and chopper gunner!

Air support can be overpowering but it's not the end of the world. Go Cold Blooded and take the son-bitch down; easy.
I play S&D nowadays so air support isn't up as much, however I just had a few games of domination and whilst there were quite a few harries and pavelows, they were no match for Cold Blooded and a Stinger.
I may be a MW2 fag, but at least I'm not a sell out to Blops like the rest of you fags; something can be hyped up an awful lot and you can be told by a lot of people how good something is and you can believe it.
MW2 is still the don.
Haven't even got Black Ops anymore.

Oh, and just to stir shit up, I honestly don't believe that Treyarch know how to make Call of Duty games.
There, I said it :)

If that was the case I'd still be playing MW2. :joel:
A lot of people don't actually like Black Ops, well, just the ones who're marks for MW2. COD4 pisses on MW2 to be fair, but I hear that's been heavily hacked now as well. MW2 could genuinely be a great game again should Infinity Ward ever decide to show support for it and release updates to remove glitches, hacks, inconsistencies etc.
I think you've missed my point.
A lot of people are playing Blops purely because it's new, despite enjoying it less than MW2 and CoD4.
If IW were still the team they were when they originally released MW2, then they may have done.
I still play cod4 every now and again but theres not enough other players that still play it so i have to play team deathmatch which gets old quickly.
MW2 was a load of shite.
Hunter nailed it man, something like "Black ops is more about player skill and not about killstreaks and shit"
Bang on and that, my friends, is that.
Hunter nailed it man, something like "Black ops is more about player skill and not about killstreaks and shit"
I would agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that 8, 9, 11 will pretty much win you the game. Yes, making killstreaks unstackable was a good move but to be able to have both a Chopper Gunner and Attack Dogs was a terrible move.
I played TDM on Blops a couple of weeks ago for the first time in well over a month, and finished 28-0 followed by 34-2. Killstreaks of 5, 7, 9.
They've tried to balance the game out and in turn have allowed players to shake off RPGs to the head without dying. If you've got an RPG and an AR that inflict the same amount of damage, but you still suffer poor mobility and ammo storage with an RPG, how is that balanced?
I applaud them for what they were TRYING to do, but they failed IMO.
Attack dogs are shite anyway man.
I had them on Jungle and they didn't even get a single kill.

Is that not just the Flak Jacket perk??
Is that not just the Flak Jacket perk??
If it is then every enemy on the other team must always have it on.
So I go on to play for the first time in months, and I find out that Mercenary Teamdeath match has been replaced with some Mercenary Moshpit bullshit.
Oh, ok.

I seem to be getting a good amount of deaths by someone jumping around a corner or directly at me. I checked on youtube and it says when you jump it makes you invisible to bullets! What the fuck is happning? Lol, it's getting to the stage where people can't play a good old shoot-em-up without exploiting the game. Ultimate nobends.

Bull.
I've dolphin dived and been killed while doing so plenty of times. You just need to be more cautious/up your reflexes.
I don't like how damage decreases simply because you fit a silencer on your weapon though.
It depresses the shot, so it does make sense (unless when to upper torso or head; I can't believe a silenced weapon can need 5 or so bullets to the head to kill someone).

It should only decrease damage over really long distances, not say...Nuketown. It seems for every 10 yards an extra bullet is needed. I don't mind using a silencer with my Commando at times to creep, but when I can kill people with half the bullets using an unsurpressed AUG then my mind is often made up.

I don't mean dolphin diving, I mean just natural jumping, trust me mate, it's all over YouTube.
 Piss off Ziss!
The most annoying person on this site where Black Ops is concerned!
Fucking hate the game.
Roll on MW2 (that said I'd be just as happy with MW2 if it was never released).

MW2 is the height of shite. Talk about hacking, glitches and just downright unbalanced gameplay. Urghhh.
Black Ops sold as many copies as it did, on the back of MW2's awesome reputation yet still got pissed on, sales wise.
The only hackers you get go as far as their usernames; there were early hacks but these were quickly corrected. The majority of glitches were exploited through hacking the codes; far more advanced than simply jumping in the air.
Unbalanced gameplay, nah, not really. Some unbalanced weapons and perks, yes. If IW hadn't fallen apart then they would have ironed out these problems; what excuse does Treyarch have?
Out of curiousity, those who play Black Ops, do you still own your copy of MW2?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. MW2 only sold as well as it did based off of how good MW1 was. Black Ops has also destroyed MW2's sales. Not that sales matter at all when looking at quality.
As for patching any hacks, get the fuck out. Infinity Ward barely touched MW2 after it was released besides releasing a map pack, they just left the game to rot with all of the hackers and glitchers and it became a farce, very quickly. Everyone knows that. I've personally never came across this simple 'jumping in the air glitch' (I'll check it in a minute) but you can't argue that MW2 was more sophisticated in the sense it demanded more intelligent hacking, within days people were climbing out of maps, what the hell?
As for MW2's unbalanced gameplay, even you yourself admit the perks and weapons were unbalanced - which is ultimately the gameplay. So yes, the gameplay was unbalanced because of the silly influence of the weapons, perks and killstreaks.
I sold MW2 a long time ago to be honest, admittedly I tend to sell off Xbox 360 games on Ebay before their value decreases too much.
According to Wiki MW2 sold more than Blops across all consoles?
Yes MW2 was off the back of MW1 (it certainly wasn't off the back of WaW), but with MW2 being so huge you'd expect Treyarch to smash it, and at least be very on top of glitches (and spawns, I'll upload a video at the end of this post which is just beyond a joke).
I was climbing out of maps on MW1; that never got fixed yet no-one complained.
They introduced Barebones, which takes out killstreaks and perks; can't get much more balanced than that. Blops idea of balancing was making all weapons as lethal as a spud-gun, forgetting that the larger weapons (LMGs, Rocket Launchers etc) would seriously affect your mobility; making it far from balanced. If you're a good enough player on MW2, you'll make your less powered class work (which I like to think that I do).
They fixed glitches up to the point that the top two honchos left; IW had a huge falling out with Activision (where I believe bonuses and royalties weren't paid).
Almost every perk in MW2 has a counter perk; it's about teammates not being selfish and going for high kills and ignoring the score. I've started playing Domination again and if a Harrier/Pavelow/Chopper/AC-130 goes up I kill myself and respawn with a Stinger class and take the air-support down. I could just as easily go Cold Blooded and be greedy, so you never have the opposition finish with 40 kills and a 100 point win; if anything it's our team as we work together.
Here's that vid; for the game to be out 4 or so months and something like this to happen, is just embarrasing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8P1eS4VX_c
Whilst there was probably boosting involved (I mean who stays in a game where they die literally every two seconds) but the fact that the game is built allowing this to happen, is a joke.
I wouldn't trust Wiki for everything to be honest. Black Ops has just become (as of yesterday I believe) the biggest selling video game of all time. As I say though, it means nothing really - GTAIV is an example.
Of course people complained about people climbing out of the map on MW1.
You shouldn't have to be an awesome player on MW2 just to make your slightly less powered class 'work'. There was plenty of people using set ups such as Danger Close, RPGs etc and it was just annoying to be honest. Of course I had fun playing MW2 initially, but as soon as everyone discovered how to manipulate the flaws within the game then it became tiresome very quickly, especially since IW abandoned the game following the fall out.
You can say every perk has a counter perk, but how does that help a great deal? We don't know what everyone else's perks are prior to the game, and considering some setups (perks and classes) are incredibly overpowered when combined together in MW2, it almost nullifies the "counter" perks.
As for that vid, it's faker than Nicki Minaj's badonkadonk to be honest. No one stays in a game when they're being killed hundreds of times. It's obviously boosting, and to a ridiculous degree.

It's not fake, though, is it?
Yes they are boosting, but they can't choose where to respawn...

Insane, but why have Sarah Michelle Geller in it? Having Rooker is entirely unexpected but hilarious. Surprised Bruce Campbell isn't in it. I love Robert England and Rooker and Trejo but it really should have been these realistically:
Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead)
Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead)
Woody Harrelson (Zombieland)
Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead)
Now I'm not Zombieland nor Shaun of the Dead's biggest fan, but it makes sense since many know the films and Shaun would after all have a cricket bat. A good mix of contemporary and classic undead films.
Personally I'd remove Harrelson and Pegg and have two from Lionel from Braindead (with lawnmower), Captain Rhodes from Day of the Dead, or Herbert West from Re-Animator instead, but I'm thinking of mass appeal and awareness here.

At the Reznov-Mason mission, the one where you're supposed to kill the Doctor before the Americans get there, I encountered a glitch.
When you're playing as the American point-of-view, you're given a weapon equipped with thermal. After I reached an area where you no longer need a gas mask, there was a gun fight. Suddenly, a pop-up message appeared. It says "'c_rus_spetznaz_body1_g_larmof f' has more than 160 bones (see console for details)"
Stupid Theyrach, or whatever they call it for failing to patch. It forces me to quit and I'm back at the beginning, where you have to melee a Russian soldier.

Why is it so hard to find a game of Nazi zombies with players who aren't completely fucking retarded? Does anyone still play (PS3) and fancy a game?
Me and 3 mates stayed up pretty late last night playing zombies. We finally killed George but it took soo long! Ended up running out of ammo and money and having to keep knifing him.

Why cant you ever get a good game online? Every time all i get is Lobby Closed and then i have to join another game only to be put in a team thats getting the kick shit out of them.
The max amount of games i can play in a lobby before it closes for some reason in 2 WTF.

360 or PS3?
I can usually play in the same lobby for at least 4 or 5 games minimum if I please, often longer. It depends how I deem most of the players gameplay mind, and if I think they're annoying I'll leave.
This is on the 360 by the way.
Could one of you Xbox owners log into Black Ops and let me know what rank I'm at? Considering borrowing the game off a friend to rank up and prestige in order to get a token for MW3.
Cheers ;)
Just thought Ziss, could you not just log onto the Xbox website and/or Call of Duty site to see your rank? I'm sure you can do it that way, and look at your stats too.

Even though Black ops is old, I still think its Awesome!
Just thought I'd have a few games on Black Ops again. It was certainly quite a funny time.
I probably played 4 or 5 games. It seems though that another player took offence to how I play the game. Bit strange in a way as I assumed we could play with whatever style we liked. Long story short, as usual, he sent me messages along the lines of "u camp bitch", "dude u suck" and even "u cant even prestige boy ur a bitch".
I obviously informed him that prestige didn't equal the quality of the player, not to mention I rarely play this game anymore, yet I was still scoring better ratios each game. Personally, I'd much rather finish a match with 8 kills and 3 deaths, as opposed to 15 kills and 12 deaths.
Still, it's these moments that I find quite funny and definitely entertaining.
Here's a few extracts from the messages in my inbox:
1v1 pusssy
tubing losser
you are a tool
omg...such a noob
fine thanks nobhead
noobin faggot
ur shit
dickhead
1v1 u are shit
fack you you shit and geth facking cancer

:D
I just love the "fine thanks nobhead" above Ziss, as if he's responding to a message upon realising he's just a terrible player.
Anyway, I've really been playing Black Ops quite a bit lately, probably equivalent to an hour or so a day. I've recently prestiged, and so the challenge of working my way back up is proving to be more fun than I anticipated. I think the long break from playing the game helped though, as it'd been several months since I'd seriously picked it up.
My favourite combination is probably the M16 suppressed, but of course it depends upon the map too - I'd never use the M16 for a small, close quarters map - it just wouldn't work. I'm more of a sit back and pick people off kind of player though, a modern day sniper. But of course with the sniper rifles being completely pointless given the maps in recent games, the semi-automatic assault rifles take their place.
I did notice that you've been playing this. I bought a copy for £10 off PlayTrade couple weeks ago but the timing was poor as I soon after really started getting into Battlefield 3.
I did notice that you've been playing this. I bought a copy for £10 off PlayTrade couple weeks ago but the timing was poor as I soon after really started getting into Battlefield 3.
I've not really played Battlefield 3.
I did play the beta near it's release, and while I really loved the larger maps, the use of vehicles I just despise. Tanks, and all this nonsense on multiplayer is just shit in my view. I like the idea of player vs. player, and the team with the best players and teamwork wins, not the team with the most gadgets, air support and vehicles zooming about.
I was never sure whether you could turn vehicles off for the Battlefield 3 multiplayer, so I was never convinced to spend £30+ on it I guess.
I was of the same opinion on vehicles, but after you get used to it, you can take them out (Javelins with the aid of SOFLAMs (for air-support).
The maps are just too big to not have air support/tanks. PC you could argue is doable, as you can have 64 players on some servers...
EDIT: You can choose servers with no vehicles. Oh, and it's down to £25 now ;)
You can choose servers with no vehicles on the Xbox? If so, thanks man, appreciate the information. I may contemplate the purchase at some point soon - not yet mind as I'm really enjoying Black Ops right now so I'll ride that until the wheels come off I think.
I just dislike - maybe dislike is too strong - but having several different games at the very same time is a bit of a waste I believe. I like to play one game through if I can and really become immersed in it, which is sometimes difficult to do if you've got several other games that you feel almost compelled to play too.
BF3 will have a long life; they're not releasing a BF4 this year, but bringing out big add-ons.
We tend to only play Conquest (similar to Domination), but other game types, I believe, take out all vehicles. Some maps (like Metro) just don't have them as it's mainly all indoors/underground, also.
I'm still playing Black Ops more than any other game that I own. Even I'm surprised. I never expected to be playing Black Ops nearly two years after it's release.
I've been doing really well this past month also, since prestiging, probably averaging a ratio of at least 2.50 each TDM. Unfortunately though, the past couple of days, I've just sucked major nuts. My gameplay hasn't really changed, I still like to sit back and pick enemies off from mid-long distance with an M16 or FAL. I'm of the belief that perhaps I've been playing with and against 'rushers' and headless chickens quite a bit lately - and as such, the spawn points differ dramatically every second as there's no real tactical approach. I'm finding that when I'm in trouble the most, it's often in close-combat situations - and by the way, the knifing system still needs altering slightly. The way it should be improved is; if your knife makes contact with your opponent, it kills them, and if your knife swing doesn't touch the enemy then they don't die. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels hard done by when replays show that the swing of the knife was a good yard away from your body.
Overall though, for the most part, I'm still thoroughly enjoying the gameplay.
