Fuck me this game is phenomenal. I've done about 10 missions but now that I have the lasso it's too hard not to fuck about. So many great moments - not least the epic poker game where it came down to me and this black guy, who cleaned me out before his untimely death - but the highlight was when I ran into that huge train tunnel and was followed soon after by some other guy screaming 'God help me!' as he was being attacked by three coyotes. I tried to save him but he died; in the darkness I wasn't sure if I killed him or not. I have a bounty on my head of about $300 which I just can't shake. And I know I haven't even scratched the surface of what this game has to offer.

Dan and Sweey, if you're on later, about 11, do you fancy a quick session - and then perhaps a free roam session afterwards?

I've only played a few hours, but I'm loving it so far. I've barely done any missions yet, probably 4-5, as I'm just enjoying exploring and bounty hunting. The only complaint I have is with the controls, it's taking some time getting used to aiming and shooting with the L2 and R2 buttons.

Some of the random encounters are brilliant. I've had bandits chase after me, only to fall off a cliff to their doom due to losing control of their horse.

I should be around for an hour or so tonight. Just invite me whenever.

I was travelling from Hennigan's Stead to Armadillo when I encountered some bandits who killed my horse. So I have to take the long walk to the town. As I'm going down that steep hill road near to where that water guy is camped I see a lone rider suddenly coming to a halt and dismounting. I'm thinking 'what the fuck is he doing?'. He goes over to a rock and....has a slash. I almost applauded such brilliance. Thankfully I stole his horse and was on my way.

And the mission fighting cattle rustlers in the canyon was fantastic. Old-school gun sound effects and the Wilhelm scream - what more could you ask for?

I've just done that one. I'm looking at the multiplayer options at the moment, looks nice enough.

This game is immense. The atmosphere and environments are amazing and the voice acting is excellent.

EDIT: Oh wow. I'm in a public online free roam...its raining, there's lightning, low light. The sort of images that are so wonderfully atmospheric and moody that horror games thrive on them and its the sort of thing I'd love to use as my desktop. Fucking amazing feel to it.

I've just been sat in the Movie House for about 10 minutes, and wasted $2 in the process. Saying that, I guess it's the experience that counts, it's just a bit of a shame I didn't receive even a mini-achievement for doing so.

Although upon walking out of the Movie House, a middle-aged scrawny chap walks by and tells me "I wish I was dead", rather amusing. I simply tipped my hat, and didn't say a word. Worked nicely.

I've only completed the very first few missions, all of which are getting to grips with the controls and whatnot. Nothing of major significance to report, although shooting the coyotes with Red Eye was quite enjoyable, and I can see the Red Eye sights being great in the future.

I almost came to fisty-cuffs with a farm worker near Armadillo, but decided to back down not knowing how it may affect my karma/honour/fame - yes, I ran like a girl and hid on top of a train.

Haha, just had that before myself. Waited just until he finished and then laid a dead eye rifle shot to the left bollock and then road off into the distance. It made me smile.

I'm loving the little random encounters with people in this game though. Some guy stopped me while i was on my horse begging for a lift, when i got near him the little cunt knocked me off my horse, hopped on and tried to take off. Marston gets up, dusts himself down and then i take aim at the cheeky little bastards head. Bang. One shot and i'm back on my horse again.

This game truly is amazing!!!

Had exactly the same happen to me earlier. You see the chases yet? Two guys chasing another on foot? I shot both the chasers with some nifty dead-eye, only to find out they were lawmen! Shot the other guy, just to make amends mind.

Edit: Quite a lot of these incidental moments have made it into the multiplayer too. This is one serious quality piece of software.

Two general observations:

1) I helped a sheriff round up some escaped convicts earlier, in one of those random events. I killed the first and hogtied the other and brought him back to the sheriff alive. He told me they were real doers of misdeeds, thanked me, and then coldly shot him with a pistol before limping off! I've done this before but never has he shot him.

2) I notice the place with the big oil wells is called Plainview. I'm assuming this is a nod to Daniel Plainview, Daniel Day-Lewis' character in There Will Be Blood.

Has anyone watched a movie, yet? The one I watched was hilarious.

It was about a salesman selling dodgy medicines. One side effect was for a guy to shit out his tape worm, then proceed to dry hump a tree. Followed by a girl (suffering from toothache) who hallucinates and as a result chops up her mother.

I must admit being brought up on Morricone the soundtrack isn't particularly great. It just lacks something that takes away a vital component of the game for me.

However, I am now streaming across my Morricone Western collection while playing the game. Words can't begin to describe how much this adds to the overall theme of the game.

How much of the game have you guys completed so far? I've done 23.4% of the game so far, according to the Stats section, which is in main menu.

And are you guys being good/bad guys? I'm being a good guy, helping out strangers whenever I can .

I'm currently just at 10.6%, with a total playing time of 4 hours 33 minutes. Thought I would have completed a touch more and certainly believed I'd have hit around the 7 hour mark - pleasantly surprising really.

Jonny - I know what you mean about the soundtrack, while it's alright, it is exactly that; "alright". I'll always be in love with Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson's "My Rifle, My Pony & Me", I'm currently playing the album of the same name from time to time when I trot about the West. 'Tis beautiful, what it all should be about.

What has got me baffled so far is the Treasure Hunt and the map more specifically, the first piece of treasure apparently being in New Austin, yet we have a tree and a rock as a reference, this will be difficult I can see.

The first treasure map is easy mate. Just keep looking at the treasure map and look on your map. The bit i found the hardest was actually finding the treasure at the location.

The soundtrack is a little average but that can be rectified, the tone and the environmental sounds are phenomenal. I've thoroughly enjoyed the single player thus far but my penchant for bullets before questions had not done great things for my honour or keeping me out of trouble with the law. I'm facing a $1000+ bounty at the minute.

Has anyone received their code to redeem the additional content for pre-ordering?

Loving the single player at the moment, only done the first 5 missions or so, but just spent four hours today riding round and exploring.

Been hunting like a mad man, taking down deer, bucks, cougars and coyotes whenever I get the chance. Got around $700 now, so money ain't a problem for me at the mo!!

Oh, and the "flowers for a lady" stranger mission has one of the strangest endings I have ever seen, try knocking the suitcase off the shelf at the end and see how the old girl likes it......lol

I really dont know how im going to get the $10,000 money achievement. Ive currently got $2500 and its taken me ages to collect that much. I havent bought anything extra (horses/guns etc) and i usually loot all dead people. I really cant see me making $10,000 unless i sit at the poker table in blackwater (has the highest betting) and win which takes quite a long time to win $500 a game.

Ive been riding round doing all the gang hideout missions, earning money but its still going to take for ever.

I did pay for a taxi to get from blackwater (top right of map) to Noscala (SP?/Bottom left of map) and it was going to be $26 but the game charged me $136 so when the journey was over i blew that motherfuckers head off and got my money back :D

I do love the randomness of this game.

Came across quite a funny moment today actually. I was hunting down a bounty, I quickly disposed of his hoodlums, before coming face to face with him. I was hoping to take him in alive since I'm in need of some cash (only have maybe $300). Anywho, I obviously shot him in the leg to disable him, and I threw the lasso on him. As I hit him with the lasso and tied him up, a pack of cougars rushed out and mangled him alive, whilst I still had the lasso on him. Quite impressive, that was until the cougars turned their attention to me. I shit a brick, fumbled through the weapons menu, and consequently was also mauled to death.

Good times.

A few things:

1) The single-player must rank as one of the finest I've played. Great missions, and the world is just incredible. Sometimes you find yourself just stopping to appreciate the view. Faggy I know but I can't be the only one.

2) If they ever made a film of this, Landon Ricketts would have to be played by Sam Elliot.

Finally got the game tonight and by Jesus is it some game. From the intro right up to where I just saved it I've enjoyed every minute. I think I'm walking the road of a good guy right now as I've done at least 2 missions with the Sheriff, but I am ready to snap and wreck the place.

Apart from that like most I'm just getting used to the controls and checking out the town. One night I decided to hit the saloon, had 5 fast ones and fell into the poker room where I cleaned their clocks. By the time I finished it was bright outside so I decided to have 2 quick ones for the road as he was sobered up and she was a long drive. Wasn't to be though and he ended up falling out the doors into the street where I ended up finding some fella playing knives for $25 a pop and we said we'd take a gamble, between me and the brother we got cleaned out and went on our way hunting.

One more thing I want to say is regards the random events going on, they really are magic. My first one was as I was returning to town I came across a stagecoach getting held up. I flew past ready to mind my own business only for the sly bastards to start shooting at me and the horse. I wasn't long turning around and sorting them out but as I was tearing the place up I shoot some bird who was standing beside the Coach in the chest, I really didn't even mean it, I was just giving it loads in general, but anyways, she started taking flight back towards the town, holding the wound and limping.
So not sure how this would look on my record I decided to catch up with her and give her a belt of the horse which knocked her to the ground, I gave it a minute and when I didn't see her moving I headed off into the sunset.

This game has a Shenmue feel off it big time!!!

Original I heard somewhere custom soundtracks were possible. I know most will be going for Morricone, and that's understandable, but the scores of films like The Proposition and Tombstone would be high on my list.

That being said, I really think the soundtrack of the game is pretty good. I mean it was never going to be Morricone-like, but for a game you can't really knock it.

I came across a guy shooting birds and he challenged me that I can't kill so many in period of time. I put a bet on and won. I come across another guy (a few hours further into the game) with the same challenge, but with a more dfficult objective. I kill all the birds. I turn my attention away from the birds and look down to where he was. I look around and he's trying to run off with my money. I hunt him down, kill him and take my winning, plus all he had on him. Brilliant!

Caught me totally off guard that ending  Think it clearly shows the effort they have put in into the side/incidental missions.

Nope. I have to admit that I've been killed by the wildlife far too often whilst admiring some of the views. Bears & Cougars being the main culprits.

This also has to be one of the first titles I've ever played where I don't want to skip any of the cutscenes. Even the banter while travelling in mission is fantastic. I love the fact that if you fail & have to restart a journey that large portions of the chatter are different, but still relevant to your progress. The level of detail is astounding.

I've been caught cheating at poker and died in the resulting duel. I was a bit disappointed that I was allowed to rejoin the game straight after, though. I was hoping I'd walk in and they'd all get up off their seats and threaten to kill me if I didn't leave.

I quite like playing poker on this game, albeit I've only played once, I guess it's just the Wild West atmosphere that creates an aura of underhandedness.

Had a nice little rummage around on the game this past hour or so. I was hoping to head towards Thieve's Landing, but a side mission side-tracked me in a major way. I'm in no rush to reach Thieve's Landing, and the side-mission involved helping a nice elderly man pick a variety of flowers for his ill wife. The only problem is that to pick these wild flowers, including Red Sage and another type which escapes me right now, I needed to travel to Rio Bravo and Gaptooth's Ridge, both of which were a distant journey to the other side of the map. I opted to get a carriage (first time) to Rio Bravo to pick the Red Sage flowers which seemed to be going fine - until a pack of wolves decided to attack me, I'm talking approximately 5-7 wolves, no chance. I respawned back at MacFarline's Ranch. I switched the console off.

The further I delve into the single player, the more I'm loving it. I'm sure I've already mentioned my side-mission for the elderly man which entails me crossing the land to pick Elderflowers, Red Sages and Desert Sages. I must have died about 5 times simply trying to pick flowers. Whether a pack of wolves corners and rips me to death, or even a silly woman screaming for help but it actually turns out she's a criminal along with the "gang" that are supposedly attacking her.

I've now finally managed to pick all of the flowers though and will be taking them back to the elderly man when I next play, which will be satisfying.

I have a small gripe though, and that's with the mini-missions involving saving a person hanging from a rope by their neck (you know the types), and yesterday I was shooting the rope, albeit from about 20 yards away, but I even used Dead Eye to make sure. Nothing. The guy died unfortunately, and only when I walked right up to it (I'm talking 2 yards away) and concentrated on hitting the rope could I do it. I just think Rockstar could have been a touch more lenient on the hitting "target" of the rope as I'm definitely hitting it, or at least grazing it.

Quick question- Is there a big difference between the feel of different horses? Are some easier to ride, some faster etc? And how long can you ride them at full speed before they tire?

I'm not sure about the "feel" of horses, but there is definitely a rank in the horse system, with faster more powerful horses costing a fair bit of money.

As for full speed, I'd say it can last around 6-8 seconds if you're tapping the sprint button. However simply holding it will not drain the horse's stamina and won't be a great deal slower, so it's a healthy balance to be honest. I generally just hold down the sprint button most of the time and only begin tapping it to sprint full speed when being chased/chasing someone.

I finally witnessed the woman/man crying over their dead partner the other day. The woman was sobbing and drinking from a bottle, and I was waiting for her to pull out a gun, when she just took one last swig, threw the bottle away, and literally collapsed and died. Not gunshot or anything. I laughed, then of course did the decent thing and looted her body.

I'm in the exact same position. I kept getting attacked by Cougars in Rio Bravo (or could've been Gaptooth Ridge). My horse got killed and I was left to fight for my life as three cougars cirlcled me, while I was waiting for the time I was able to call a new horse. I killed them all and called for a new horse. I could see the horse arriving down the road and as I ran towards it, a cougar came out of nowhere and killed me. I must have spent at least an hour looking for the flowers, dying about three times, of which one was being killed by a pair of fat, theiving Mexicans as I tried to protect their target. I rode off to the nearest ranch to save my game. I'll be delivering the bouquet to the old man tonight.

I've never saved the hanging man. I've rarely saved quite of the random victims, to be honest. I tend to get there too late, whether it be for a robbery, murder attempt or animal attack. However, I do end up looting the bodies.

Glad to know I'm not alone when it comes to being savaged. I imagine you're referring to Rio Bravo as I was mauled numerous times wandering the area, was madness. I still need to brush up on my cougar-killing skills and fending off attacks though, I tend to panic, shit a brick and run for it.

As for looting the bodies, it's a must. My cashflow is increasing now which is nice, I think I've just surpassed the $500 mark so I'm quite comfortable. May even treat myself to a new gun come to think of it.

I unlocked that really early on in the game surprsingly, maybe even around 8%, and I cannot remember how. I'd love to know. I thought Messiah was chatting bullshit but I too shot two beavers with a shotgun and they did seem to disintegrate.

Several points:

1) I loved Reyes' line about not wanting to marry a peasant girl 'with a tight cunt and the hands of a farmer.'

2) Being able to jump onto moving trains whilst on horseback is a great feature.

3) The end of the Deadulus and Son mission is brilliant. In general, I love the sense of macabre in this game, really feels of the time.

4) I know this is faggy in the extreme, but I had one of my best experiences in gaming for as long as I can remember earlier. First time I ventured into the West Elizabeth region, it began to really pelt with rain (one thing I noticed that you probably all have already - if you pan the camera towards the sky, the screen gets droplets on it). I got to the Manzanita outpost when some woman asked me to look for her wagon. It was dark and I found myself in bear country, and bottled going into the heart of it, so I turned back, failing to find the wagon. With a fierce storm brewing, I moved south and found a camp with three men being attacked by a bear and boar. I dispensed with them, but the three fags decided they wanted a bit, so I offed them also.

Then I went nearby to finish the 'I Know You' stranger mission. I won't spoil it for those who haven't got there yet, but the way this played out, with the storm raging in the night, was fantastic. I almost got chills watching it, topped off the whole experience for me. If I was playing this in the early hours of the morning, on my own in the house, I'd have probably shit myself at the whole eerie ambience of it all.

I love this game. I can't remember the last time I fagged out to a game like this.

I must say this game has disappointed me a little.

First of all the ending is pretty shocking, didn't really explain anything.

The gameplay is jsut a little too similar to GTA for it to be considered a unique game. I know its been banged around a lot, but this will only ever be the 'GTA in the wild west'.

I'm going to keep it for a bit longer, do all the side quests, spend a bit of time on multiplayer etc, then i'm going to decide on whether selling it for maximum trade in value would be a good idea or not.

It's not as good as I thought it would be.

I'm close to agreeing with that. The multi player is a bit too headless for my liking with some of the spawn locations being just too close to the action and not giving you to get a chance to find a spot to settle down. That said, I'm sure a proper posse in a free roam game has the potential to be fun for a while. It's in dire need of some new mulitplayer missions against the CPU, just to make it worth while.

I just can't understand for the life of me why you can't fully customize and create your character online, having to play a default one just isn't the same.

Aye, if I was to rate it I might give it 10/10 for single player and more 5/10 online. I think online had some potential but the madness and chaos spoils the entire showdown vibe in the towns. For every time you die it should take away one of your kills from your total score at the end of the round, this might calm people down a bit. Even better again would be no re spawning at all in certain rounds, a proper last man standing.

As it is people are just running around like a bunch headless chickens.

BarnDoor

I think it's just boredom. Killing bears, crashing wagons, and throwing yourself from mountains is about the only fun you can make for yourself. I hope in future updates they add more variety to the free roam. Adding things like trains, cars, the glider that cunt is making, and rafts would at least be a start.

The mulitplayer is very much the same as GTA IV, where the idea of having a whole map to run around with your friends was great but then after the novelty wore off it got boring very quickly.

Spot on. I'm a firm believer in saying that not all games should be multiplayer. A brilliant single player game with no multiplayer will be remembered more than one with a multiplayer which is poor.

BioShock 2 should not have a multiplayer.
GTA should not have a multiplayer.

When you have magnificant story titles, adding a multiplayer purely for the sake of it (to make that extra bit of cash) just takes something away from the single player story itself I think. Instead of having an amazing story and then slapping a multiplayer on the side, just keep the story, scrap the multiplayer. It just brings the game's credibility down.

Dan
31-05-2010, 20:16
If you actually had stuff to do online there would be no problems. For them to achieve what they have done however (A huge environment you can roam with 7 of your friends) is worthy of much praise, but there needs to be goals, achievements and such for it to be worth playing.

GTA 4 multiplayer suffered for many reasons; There was few civilians to maul, you couldn't partake in missions, races and the like, but imagine a living city full of civilians you could kill, banks you could rob, police you could have full-blown shoot-outs with etc etc.

Don't forget though, a game is only as good as its community. You look at some of the videos on youtube where people have took the time to organise games and create their own game-modes to realise the potential of these games.

I did hear RS were contemplating adding stuff to the free-roam though, such as poker and tougher gang hideouts, but they could just be rumours.

I'm still avoiding this thread though as I've only just arrived in Mexico and people don't seem to be using spoler tags.

I've done two in one go. Once I complete the game, I'm planning on placing as many victims on the track as possible. I'll try to film it and put on YouTube. I tested to see if I could place someone to the side of the tracks, go away and come back. I went off to play poker, returned to the station and the guy had disappeared. I hope it's because someone took him and not because the character simply vanishes because the game resets the area. I'm hoping that I will be able to steal a wagon and place as many victims on it as possible.

The only way I can see round it is lassoing one person, put them on your horse, lasso another person, put them on another friendly horse, then lasso the horse and lead them to the track, or just do it all in the comfort of a station, preferably armadillo where there are at least 5 or 6 people near the station.

I was up in the Tall Trees, near Nekoti Rock, when I hear gunshots. Turns out it's a sheriff and his deputy chasing a crook. I kill him, when all of a sudden a bear comes out of nowhere and attacks me. Surprisingly they pull their guns and shoot him dead, before they both set off up the mountain for some bizarre reason. Another bear then chases after them and mauls the deputy. I attempted to lasso the bear, and though it actually worked, I could of course do nothing as it charged me. I anticipated death but the sheriff shot it in the nick of time. He then went on his way but was mauled by a pack of wolves.

I finished the Treasure Hunt challenges, and noticed they are all named after 19th century real-life civil war generals, abolitionists, or politicians (the name of the gold itself, not the figures they're purported to be named after in-game). Nice touch.

I know the game is not long out, but me and Jonno have recently been discussing ideas for a sequel. When I say sequel, I don't mean a direct one, but rather a similarly-themed game set in a similar historical period. I have two ideas. If the US again, for starters I think it needs to be set earlier - the 1840s-1860s. The map needs to be bigger, a sort of bastardized version of the western half of America and Mexico, but curved to include some of the south down to Florida. The southern areas of Texas and Mexico would be similar, but the Great Plains and mountainous, wooded, snowy areas up to the north instead. California would provide the prosperous, coastal area. They'd have to include Indians. Add things like prospecting, trapping, fishing, canoes, the ability to become a Mountain Man. Make the main theme frontier expansion rather than the dying days of the Old West. Maybe even work in the north-south divide and the civil war. Also slavery and racism should be introduced.

Another idea I had today, after watching Van Diemen's Land last night, would be 19th century Australia. Anyone who has seen The Proposition would know the potential. The landscape could differ from barren deserts to jungle. Tasmania would be the large island. The experience would be different as it would be a lot more sparse than the US, and therefore more atmospheric. Plus the wildlife would be unbelievable - Dingos, Thylacines, Kangaroos, Camels, Koalas, Snakes, Spiders, Wallabies, Platypus, Crocodiles, etc. I can't think of a similar area in size that would be so diverse.

Extreme faganomics of course, but a man can dream can't he?

I think a Gangs Of New York kinda themed game would go well!

Was looking for those bloody beavers down by the river bank when a guy came up to me asking to save his wife. We galloped over to where the bandits had his wife hanging, and I disposed of them promptly whilst saving his wife. They both thank me as the man's wife jumps onto the back of his horse. I bask in my moral goodness until, to my horror, them man casually rides his horse, with his wife on the back, into the river in some sort of sick, twisted murder suicide. Oh the horror.

I think I love this song. It's the one that plays when you first get into Mexico and ride off. Unfortunately I got off my horse to loot some banditos and the music stopped, but I recently downloaded my free OST that came with the LE and I cant stop listening to this.

Plus this trailer is the bollocks!!

Just got into the final territory, and bearclaw camp is fucking shit scary on your own. Got side attacked by a pack of wolves, then some sort of mountain cat came at me from behind before a bear dived at me., all in the space of 30 seconds.

I dread going there at night now.

I've just completed the story. At least I think I have;
Seeing as Marston is dead. I'm not really disappointed with the ending, I thought it was great, but I would have liked to have gone after 100% while playing with Marston. I'm a bit miffed that the world doesn't exactly change afterwards, despite the son seemingly ageing a good few years. Though maybe this is accurate, I wouldn't know.
I'd give it a 9.5. Some of the graphical hiccups on the PS3 were quite bad and took a lot away from the atmosphere. Not to mention the loss of audio during one of the latter missions.

Bring on the DLC. In the mean time, I'm going for 100%

Just finished it this morning. An Amazing game, and definitely very close to, if not the best game I have ever played. I fear no game I will play in the upcoming years will come close to providing me with as much entertainment as this has done.

40+ hours in, standing at 99% (5 bounty missions and US marshall uniform left to do). Only got a few more hours in it, but I will definitely not be trading this in. The co-op DLC is out next week and god knows what else they've got planned for the future, plus I know i'll replay this again at some point.

Oh, and this song is amazing:

Done the hideout crawl for the last outift and been doing bounty missions in mexico and blackwater so havent had a chance to loo. Only about .2% left

Funny as hell, I had one on Nekoti Rock, took him alive, being chased by gang members through Tall Trees, bear comes out of nowhere and wipes one of the guys out off his horse, i laugh, instantly bear comes out of nowhere, kills horse my bounty and then me.

I haven't played this for nearly 2 weeks now, despite only being about 30% complete or so. I don't really feel any desire to go back to it either. I was thinking yesterday, maybe I just don't particularly enjoy Rockstar's sandbox games after all, I mean I thought GTAIV was pretty boring and shit. The only GTA game I've enjoyed was San Andreas, but that was more so because it was gang-orientated and fun as opposed to being graphically superb and "realistic".

I might actually sell Red Dead Redemption while it's still hot on the market to be honest, try and recoup the money before it becomes too stale.

Jonno394

I don't really enjoy GTA titles either, barring Vice City, they bore me. I usually play for about 30% like yourself, then lose interest. With San Andreas, The map was huge but nothing to really do in the map bar drive round and shoot people.

I think the setting, exploration and atmosphere of this title really kept me hooked. Yes, you could say all there is to do is ride your horse and shoot people, but i prefer horses to cars lol.

Oh there was plenty to do in San Andreas. It wasn't just the activities, it was the mentality you adopted when playing the game I think made it so special. We were all Grove Street 4 Life. We felt it. Whenever we'd leave Ganton, and cross Balla territory, we took that risk, and were prepared for a shootout. I remember slowly cruising in my lowrider countless times in the middle of the night, with no purpose other than to "smoke" some Ballas while listening to NWA on the radio. In GTAIV, you were an immigrant - alone - in NYC, what was there to do? But in San Andreas, you had your family and friends, more ofen than not, with you the majority of the time.

In RDR, you're alone again.

Yeah, I don't like the ghetto lifestyle or gangast lifestyle if you so must, so that sums it up for me lol. I did love driving round with your homies in the car though =]

With RDR, It probably helped that I fell in love with Fallout 3 a year back and that exploring the wasteland on my own and the whole feel of being self dependant was matched by Rockstar. I enjoy feeling alone and scared in games. Super Metroid and the first 2 Metroid Prime titles capture this very well as well.

I didn't mind Fallout 3, but didn't complete it and sold it after a few months. In terms of the exploring, I quite enjoyed it, simply because the world was completely foreign in the sense that it was the future following a disaster, it was a strange scenario. The combat system was quite clunky though unfortunately, the best aspect I thought was the Pitboy and the choice of music throughout - that's what really set the scene.

You must be a very good player then and i can see that you're too carried away by the game, but in a nice way.. anyways, good luck to your character.. i'm just a beginner actually and haven't done any single mission yet. :)

This game is amazing. Never have I been so into a game's storyline, its sub plots and even the side missions are interesting and mysterious. I finally got to exploring the game and what it had to offer in terms of fucking about and its as good as GTA, or probably maybe because we've all been so accustomed to the urban jungle type game we find this one great to play.

I tried the online free roam today for the first time and its just as good. I think im going to stick with the fat Mexican and the Donkey for a long time.

:jongcrymore:

Oh man, the ending got me, the grave scene with the 'Bury Me Not In the Lone Prairie' was so beautifully tragic I felt depressed.

I've literally just finished the main story I believe, and I'm at around 82% since I also did quite a lot of side missions during my play through.

I was just wondering though - the video regarding the '15' different endings Bammers posted just the last page. I only watched the first few seconds before switching off, but I noticed it was Jack Marston in the scene confronting his father's supposed killer. Don't give the stories away here either, but how do I achieve these new scenes and endings as there appears no more main story missions left to complete, only a few continued side missions.

Thanks....

After the scene with Marston's grave, you should come back as an older Jack Marston, then if you ride into Blackwater, I think, you'll be given another stranger task and if you complete that, you'll reach the real ending of the game. :ninja:
