first, azerbaijan is on the west shore of caspian sea (caspian lake, whatever you say). capital city is baku.

team founded in 1991, after the end of soviet union. until this time players from azerbaijan played for ussr squad. most well known players or ussr's azerbaijani players are anatoliy banishevsky and alekper mammadov.
and stadium for home matches is republic central stadium named after tofig bakhramov (tofiq bahramov/ the popular linesman of wc-66 final)in baku. coach is berti vogts, germany's ex-coach(euro 96 winner). team's best star is vaqif cavadov (vagif javadov) which plays for twente. some other important players are, elvin mammadov, vuqar nadirov, rashad sadygov (both plays for qarabagh fc/a team in azerbaijan/) and alexander chertoganov (inter baku).

teams best result is 5 points in qualification rounds for world cup.
the biggest win is against liechtenstein (4-0), and the biggest defeat is against frenches(10-0):blush:.. there are also some bright results like, 1-1 draw with portugal, 2-0 win against slovakia, 2-1(h) win and 2-2(a) draw against serbia and montenegro. the last match was the first match of ex-jugoslavia under the name of serbia and montenegro.

azerbaijan finished last qualification groups with 5 points (1-1 home draw and 2-0 away win against liechtenstein and 1-1 draw against russia at home)

on the next ec qualifying rounds azerbaijan will play in group A against, germany, turkey, belgium, austria and kazakhstan. we expect more than 7 points..

Thats a tough group you're in, but Azerbaijan are improving. At home you could be a tricky opponent for Turkey, Belgium or Austria.

"Herr" Vogts have been managing ANT since 2008. And he is going to stay here until 2013.

ANT were in austria to make their last pre-qualification matches. they played friendly matches with moldova and honduras.
they didnt manage to win (1-1 draw with transilvanians, 0-0 draw caribbeans) but i have to note that, to see six players of qarabagh (fully formed by azerbaijani footballers, made 3rd ranking in last season) in starting eleven was very excellent. you may have an acquaintance with this team according successful results in euroleague qualifcation rounds.
last year they kicked out rosenborg (1-0, 0-0), honka /finland/(1-0, 2-1). and in play off rounds although the nice performance they eleminated by twente (1-3, 1-1).
this year they kicked out metallurg from macedonia (4-1, 1-1), portadown of n.ireland (2-1, 1-1). and in the first leg they got an away win against polands well known wisla krakow. 1-0.

if they'll manage to make the group stage (there is s play off round for the next) that would be agreat "stimulus" for azerbaijani football. as i said before, half of the national scout is formed by these teams players.

at least we got 3 points! after the unsuccessful results againist germany(6-1) and austria(3-0) <both away> we managed to win turkey at home: 1-0. goal scored by rashad sadygov which plays for turkish superleague team, eskishehirspor.

I wondered if you could do me a favour. I wanted to create Neftchi Baku and I need stats for at least 1 goalkeeper who has played for Neftchi. So could you write down the "player stats" for either Jakhangir Hasanzade, Veliyev, Micovic or Grybauskas?

hasanzade was former goalkeeper of neftchi also micovic too.
you may find stats for grybauskas if lithuania availaible in your game.
