Noticed there wasn't a thread concerning El Tri, so I'll make one. Obviously we took a young squad to the World Cup, and they will only get better.
Vamonos La Verde!

I have been supporting them for this gold cup and they gave me a bit of a scare tonight but dominated the second half against Guatemala. Nice behind the back, game winning goal by Chicharito.
Awesome goal by Chicharito.

I just watched a similar goal by Chicharito that he had against Stoke but also had Shawncross draped all over his back.
Looking forward to tonights match against Hondouras. Thanks Univision - and watching the game with latin american commentators is fun even if I don't know what they are saying.

Go Mexico. Full blooded-yank who wants to see Mexico win tonight. Looks like a Mexican crowd in Pasadena. Hopefully they bring in De Nigris into the second half because he seems to be the element that gets the offensive push going.

Well done Mexico. Dos Santos's goal was awesome. I like the Mexican team, always good to watch.
Dos Santos' goal was very nice. He shat all over Howard whose reaction was hilarious!

^yes Dos Santos footwork to move out around the mess in front of goal to get a shot off was spectacular. One of the other spectacular plays of the match that didn't score was the Chicharito shot that went off the low post. First, it was amazing he extended himself to even get a touch on the ball but even more incredible is that after the extension he almost made a play on the ball of the end line - now that's quickness. I must admit I have a man crush on his playing - my wife has a crush on him directly. The super slow mo on Univision captured this play perfect - not sure if FoxSoccer had the same coverage but they were so busy being "team USA" I couldn't watch their broadcast because it was making me ill. I did turn the channel to FoxSoccer after the match and they were then busy giving every excuse they could offer. Bottom line- Mexico was just to fast and talented for the U.S. team. FS analysts were blaming it on having to move defenders after one injury.
Why is Dos Santos so good for Mexico but can't get into the spurs team?

Why is Dos Santos so good for Mexico but can't get into the spurs team?
Because he is not playing against USA, Guatemala, Panama and the such. His youth still shows on and off the pitch - Something like the Gold Cup performance could catapult his career, but that was probably said in 2009 - maybe he will grow up from the experience. I don't think he looked as good in the two previous gold cup games as he did in the final. He has an incredibly fast sprint dribble doesn't he. Impressively quick first move as well. I hope to get the chance to watch him more in the Copa America.
Interesting turnover of individuals for the Copa America team. I was hoping to watch De Nigris more but not on the roster.

Good god the bar I was at Saturday night was filled to the brim with Mexican supporters. One lonely bum wearing a USA shirt poor guy. The Bar owner had a sighn saying sure enough if Mexico wins 2 for 1 drinks. When the game ended the place went nuts and I swear like some crazy flashmob all the Mexicans started singing Canta y no llores I couldn't help but get caught up in it.

I guess I shouldn't get too excited about Mexico and the Copa America after all. 8 players booted for cavorting with prostitutes. Thats 13 players over back to back cup tournaments banned.

Mexico fans - match against Brazil on espn2 and streaming on espn3 (9:30 Eastern US time).
good lineup with Hernandez, dos Santos, Salcido, Guardaro, and most of the Gold Cup roster.

Poor WC qualifying match by Mexico. Jamaica should have won 0-3 but the match ended 0-0. The Jamaica opportunities were sure fire goals that was purely lack of self-talent that prevented the scores.
Chicharito only had on opportunity, but it was from point blank range so easily stopped by the keeper. Mexico played with two strikers and it seemed like the two didn't know how to work together. Chicharito took a bad hit to the head as well that stopped play.
This has to be a tough match to play for the players abroad in europe to fly back and compete at 7,000ft above sea-level.
If anything good came out of it, the 0-0 draw helped the U.S. with the loss to Honduras.
well, it was Bob Marley's birthday.
