its such a huge improvement on last year! animations look great and replays do too with the added motion blur. Playing with Barca, you can play their exact style of cute passing and thru balls seem so much more satisfying when you pull them off. love how i could assign the "feint to the left" to left of the analogue stick so you can do messi's trademark cutting inside and shooting!
FOR some of you who havent played it.
i got psn plus , so today i managed finally to get my hands on the demo. IM going to keep this simple .
I spent last year , either swearing at PES 2010 in frustration , and resorting to the darkside FIFA for satisfaction. FIFA was the better game , and it made PES look last gen for sure.
So with all the hype around PES 11 i managed to get the game demo downloaded today.
As you have all seen the menu screen is brilliant , nice touch , the entire screen puts pes 10 to shame .
THEN we have the choice of four teams , munich , barca, chivas, and internacional of the copa liscences.
As soon as i got to the formation screen , i instantly loved the formation screen where you can drag and drop , its soo neat. i love the fact you can drag the player anywhere you want.
Ok got to kick off . .... after about 3 passes , I WAS LIKE OMG.
the game felt NEW. something different. it felt next gen .
feels like i was in complete control of everything. I was amazed , the passing syste, needs getting use to , but it marvoulous , passes go eveywhere , and you really need to be careful, think more.
The entrie feel of the game , felt pes in essacance , but much more.
Total freedom , the ball can go anywhere , and the ball physics are fantastic.
THE defense system you need to get use to , but after a while its great.
The shooting seems more difficault , but scoring and having a good shot at goal , feels so satisfying.
Now
the game speed on the demo can be changed , i love the nautural speed.
-animations -brilliant
-fluid , i didnt think it was on the vids , but playing it , it definetly is
-Freedom , oh yes , and it works well
- passing , a brilliant system which works well.
the graphics are great as usual , but im focusing on the gameplay.
NOW
GKS.
Ive had no problem with GKS . im quite satisifed with what ive seen .
overall
IM ADDICTED TO PES.
I LOVE THIS GAME ,.,
IT IS SOOO FUN.
I NEVER had this much fun on FIFA . im being sooo honest. no fanboy shit.
and the videos dont do this game justice.
is it worth psn plus ??
YH. lol

what Barca style, I thought they just go up the side and give it to Messi to run baseline and cut back a pass to Ibra! Isn't that the real Barca style??? LOL!

aha which resulted in Ibra either skying it or missing the ball all together....i mean like the passing in tight spaces, and players actually seem to make intelligent runs off the ball.

haha ya I know, I was just messing with you. I hope the new gameplay limits ppl online from taking Messi or CR9 and running down the sideline every time.

it is definitely a lot harder to dribble past everyone. With messi i got past a few players with ease then Van Buyten just came and nicked the ball from me. Other than that when i tried to run with him but had to end up cutting back and passing it.

It would be wonderful if you could answer these question :)
- Is it easy to score from outside the box?
- Does the AI attack more than in Pes 2010 and is it challenging?

not easy to score at all, shooting is much better and more realistic now
The A1 is smarter in attack and defensively, for instance the A1 will now launch long throw ins into your box most of the time when they are in your last 3rd

1. I havent been able to score from outside the area yet. hit the bar a few times and Butt made a few good saves.
2. Yes, i was playing on regular and found it too easy though. playing on professional however was quite refreshing. The AI attacked a lot more and played some nice moves

To me the commentary doesn´t matter at all. I always lower the volume for it so I can barely hear it. Commentary has always been bad in soccer games and always will in my opinion.

refs seem ok. Ive had a couple of nothing challenges be penalised when the opposition have the advantage. and very minor collisions be penalised too. On the whole though, i find them to be ok.

I downloaded the demo last night and all i can say is...
OMFG Pes is BACK!!! lol
for 2-3 years my mates who have fifa have laughed at Pes for it simple faults, while i have liked Pro eve 2008-10 they just werent Next gen games.
2010 had many faults but did have that PES elememt which we all enjoy.
However 2011 is definately surpassed the classic PES 6.
First off the main menu is sleek and asthetically appealing but has a nice arcade feel to it.
Going straight into an exhibition is simple, if you press X repeatedly from the Main Menu you will start a match. (lazy i know but effortless)
Game Plan: the auto settings "Leave to Manager" ares nice and simple to newbies (i.e. a mate who has never played PES) while the "Simple Settings" add a little more depth using preset settings with minor variation, for example, "Out Wide: Offensive".
The Manual settings are a PES players dream lol Dragging and Dropping a player into the EXACT position you want, with the Hexagon stats picture back making player choices nice and simple. The players overall stat is shown in the corner. Pressing triangle with a player selected also shows the actual stats too.
As usual there are strategies assigned to buttons. The team style settings from 2010 are back and really effective.
The link feints are awesome. Easy to design and customize ur preferred tricks and skills. The choice is for long complicated tricks or simple fast tricks.
A new option is management eddit where the entire teams attitude is chosen for the the time durin the match whether you are winning, level or losing. So you can choose possession football for the first half if you are winning or all out attack if you are losing. This adds a nice touch and gives your team a simple backround strategy.
Coach Mode: this is where auto subs are on and formation changes are made automatically etc etc nice touch if you are lazy or new to PES.
During the Match:
Passing is fun, effective and rewarding. The 360 degree and power gauge make passing very flexible + the players make good runs and chase the ball down. the one bonus with the power gauge is the ability to see if the super cancel worked because the guage will dissappear.
Long balls are now very effective especially when pinged into space infront of the side midfeilder/ wing forward.
Tackling is slightly different but altogether has the same ground roots from previous PES games. while the ref isnt too bad its all to easy to accidently go in too hard on a player resulting in a free kick to the opposing team. Again it is rewarding to construct good pressure and tackling the striker.
GOD like player: What i mean by God like is those player that are difficult to stop when used by beginners. For example Messi on 2010 was hard to tackle no matter who was using him. However on 2011 you cannot be careless with him. Yes he his really good but it takes a little effort to use his full potential but he cant take it round everyone.
There is sooo much more to talk about but tbh you need to play the game to understand the improvements.
Overall:
Good passing is rewarded
Long balls can be effective
God like players are limited
Clean interface (menus ect ect)
Passing has so much freedom and flows nicely
Basically this game has so much potential
its got the old school gaming roots
its rock paper scissors (one strategey beasts others but is beaten other)
+
easy to learn but hard to master
lol any questions?
Couple of questions.........
Does the Defence still allow the attack to do the drag back?
Can Messi still cut in from the wing, travel the edge of the area, and release an unstoppable shot into the goal?
Can the goalie throw the ball quicker?

I've always used D-pad for PES but i'm finding with the demo that if i use d-pad players can only pass in the 8 directions of the d-pad, so i'm misplacing a lot of passes.

Ive already said this also on this site somewhere. Ive not seen the advantage rule in any shape or form yet. Even little niggly challenges get the whistle and a little replay (which I agree, grates, especially when the replay shows u both kind of came together and no challenge was present) other than that I rather like it. Im playing on Top Player and i also like that difficulty

i got some questions guys to people who have got the demo
1. Is that failed attempt at HDR sunlight near the goals in pes 2011?
2. Is it still way to easy to score from crosses ?
3. Do the ai defenders still back off way too much ?
4. when shooting at a 90 degree angle from the goal is the horrible shooting animation still in?

Makavelian.....only played about 6 matches so far....gave in and bought plus...but i look at it as 3 months of free stuff! anyway to answer your queries (based on Top Player)...
1.That sunlight thing is gone...annoyed me when i first played 2010, but got used to it. glad it seems to have disappeared. Not sure if it'll be there on other stadiums though in the full release.
2.I've not been great at scoring from crosses except on ISS Evolution2 on PS1 (Darei from Iran was a legend at scoring headed goals). I've scored from one cross so far on 2011. Can't seem to do the triple Circle low fast cross along the floor on this version which i used to like doing...but maybe holding down pass will work...will have to try it. Crosses to seem to result in realistic headed scrambles. Headed over a few times...but most get cleared by the defence...or out for a corner.
3. Defenders back off a little, but not nearly as much as 2010. Shooting from distance is much harder now. I need to master it. I found that when i was 2-1 in the Copa match...the opposition went heavily defensive to defend their lead. Good to see opposition AI reacting appropriately to the scoreline.
4.Not sure about this one i'm afraid!....all my shots from the right or left side of the penalty box have gone all over the place. Shooting animations in general do look good though.
I will give a bigger report back on gameplay once i've played the game a few more times. I never like a new PES at first...except PES 5....liked it so much i didn't buy PES6 for the PS2 (got it for PSP though). I will say, I don't thing PES 2011 matches PES 5 in terms of perfection...but i think its made a step in the right direction. PES 2012 is the one i think will get PES back on track....with such a dramatic change to the gameplay, it'll need at least another year to perfect it.
A few other quick points to add...
1. you cant hack down the goalkeeper anymore when he throws/kicks it out...thank god
2. however....still no bookings if you hack someone down off the ball and pl;ay continues. PES 5 got the referees spot on and would let play continue...and then when the ball went out of play, the referee would go back and bookm the offending player
3. seen quite a few balls bounce off the goalkeepers leading to silly goals. Most of the ones i've seen have been silly goals...but keepers are vulnerable to mistakes in the real world too
4. Got a penalty awarded to me in the first match...blatant penalty...but one that would probably not have been given in 2010. Not had any other fouls in area, so hopefully penalties are now fixed.
5. Harder to burst past an opposition player with pace...even with supposedly faster players....player in control seems to stutter between each big stride... not a big problem, but i like fast players to be able to get away from slow defenders....needs more testing from me though!
6. passing is tricky at first due to having to remember you cant just always tap the pass button...but its so much more rewarding. Love being able to weight through balls...rather than hoping the AI guesses what i want.... it makes the gameplay far more diverse
7. I like the fact they've kept 2010 style penalties...although i agree would be better behind player for mid-match penalties. The old penalty system was down to luck...this is about skill....for people who dont like this system...just keep practising...if you hit the shot off target its because of you.....the old style was too random and made it a lottery.
If anyone has any other questions, let me know!

goalkeepes defo release the ball quicker and more realistic yes

yes he can still score impossible 90 degree goals :(
Sounds like pes2011 is the game pes2009 couldve been and pes2010 shouldve been.
Looks like the majority of people think its great. The only real complaint Ive heard is the shooting is very floaty and slow. The shooting on pes2010 was spot on I thought. You could hit some real rockets. They rarely went in though.
Is it possible to play 2v2 on the demo and if so what is it like? Last years 2v2 wasnt the best. Player selection was bad.
I watched a few videos of the demo and the animations still look rather poor; the transitions are still clunky and I really can't see a huge improvement. The reviews will have be in the high 80s or even low 90s for me to consider picking it up.
Being in the U.S. I went out of my way to get a UK PSN card and plus from the UK store. When I frist started playing the demo I wasn't sure it was worth the effort to play it early. After getting to grips with the passing I am loving the demo. the passing and crossing are fantastic IMO. I personally would like a player run button like fifa has but I did notice as others have if you mess with tactics and user R2 they will make runs. You really can play some slick football when the passing comes off which it doesn't always which is a good thing IMO.
At the moment, I can't stop playing the demo the good thing is that it took time to grow on me which reminds of the good PES games of the past. The more I play it the more I enjoy which is a good sign IMO.

and ezio im glad to hear that! pes has always been a game that has areas which annoy some and entertain others! im really hoping it has the passion that pes 5&6 had with a real sense you were playing football(soccer) for me pes 2010 does have elements where you really feel like you scored a goal and made a good successful pass but few and far between

same here. The rainbow flick looks particulary bad. As for animations i think there is more but most people seem happy jsut because there is now a single animation for shoulder to shoulder. Nontheless it looks better and tommorrow will tell me if i will be parting with my cash.

Shankly,
I was not a fan of the last 2 versions of the game to be honest and as such moved to Fifa. This year I think pes 2011 is on it's way back to being what it was on the ps2. The passing takes some getting used to but once you get used to it really works well.
PS+ is a retarded and bloodsucking way of making more money...

I have played about 15 games.
I Tweaked the graphics with the enb series, I put in a square pattern for the nets. (dt07.img bin54), and it feel and looks freaking amazing.
The field feels HUGE, in the sense that for the first time I am aware of all of it, the midfield and 3/4 are actually not just the space between the goals, as it felt in the previous more arcade versions, but an area where you have to stop and think, this is definitely thanks to the new passing system that force you to be much more aware of what you are doing.
Players do feel a bit robotic, but I am playing on a pc with a keyboard, so I can't quite be the judge of that, and I don't really care anyway.
Overall this game is just excellent.
It is really a pleasure to play and can't wait to try the full version.u
*update for demo tester please support us:D.....
Bring back control configuration in the old pes, but keep the new one. now with reason!
After playing demo for so many days, this is the conclusion I can get.
pes2011 is the greatest football game in the universe.but also the worse football game in control configuration.
this are the negative:
1.trick control L2 + right stick.
reason: not fluid to do,doesn't feel we do the trick ourselves.what make it worse is the Ps3 L2 is very difficult to click.also when playing hand is busy with the right stick.
solution: keep the left pad trick, but still keep the new one.
*update
Don' t confuse with removed new one.it is not replaced the new one.but bring back the old one, so everybody can choose which trick they want to use.
*update
after read people comment, I got conclusion that most people agree with other point, but not agree with this point.so I make new vote with point no 1 deleted.so if if anybody agree with point 2,3,4 please vote here http://forums.pesfan.com/showthread.php?t=233302
2.keeper cursor L1 + R3.
reason: should be change to something faster, because when we want to click R3, IMO it need time maybe 1 millisecond slower than the usual triangle.it is make huge different when playing.
solution: use the old L1 + triangle.
3.step over dummy right stick.
reason: actually it is very good, only cannot getting used to it.
solution: keep the L1 2x and R2 2x.
4.dive L3 R3.
reason: when we are running we cannot push L3 easily.
solution: keep the old L1 L2 R2.
the positive part about the new trick configuration is the L1 + right stick.
for other that don't agree and feel satisfied with the new trick configuration, please support us,because it doesn't interfere with the new control configuration.
if anybody agree, please support by going here http://forums.pesfan.com/showthread.php?t=233269 vote yes.
thanks everybody.....

ok,yeah it's infinitely better than the last PES, passing is awesome, and you get real satisfaction when you make a great through ball, limited AI stupitidity, you have to think quick and can't dilly dally on the ball. But i think they've copied basically copied FIFA.

There really should be an option for "instant replay frequency" or some such, whereby you can choose for them to be shown for A: everything following a stoppage (including goal attempts that go out of play, fouls, offsides, etc) B: important things (goals, bookable fouls, penalties and FKs near the box, close calls), C: goals only or D: nothing (ie, replays off).

Hi, I just signed up to this site 2mins ago. I want to share my thoughts on the new pes demo for 2011 ps3. i was playing it and almost immediately i realised that konami have ruined the series, i was really looking forward to playing this and I been buying pro evo every year since the classic iss pro 98, thats when my conversion from fifa began, and i havent looked back since, until now. I still wont buy fifa because I hate the gameplay, but I wont buy pes 2011 based on the demo either. I have stayed loyal to pro evo since playstation 1 and i have defending it and been a loyal fan but this demo was the last straw buy konami, i am apsoloutely fumming and upset at the same time, thats why i wanted to sign up to this site and share my thoughts with other pes fans, so thanks for reading. Next I am going to outline the changes in the demo i think have ruined the game, so if you want to read on its up to you, if not, thanks for reading my first post and thank you for the option files i have used over the years!
PES 2011 DEMO for PlayStation 3
In the PES vs FIFA war I allways used to say that fifa has better features, music, commentary, licences, graphics and pro evo is better at the gameplay - which at the end of the day is what really matters, is what happens on the pitch, this has for me been the decided factor over the years and i was allways proud about the fact that allthough pro evo was lacking to fifa in alot of aspects, that on the pitch the gameplay in my opinion was far superior. I was thinking as long as they dont make changes to the gameplay then pro evo will allways be better than fifa.
In the demo they have changed the wide camera angle so it has a tilt following left and right, this is a HUGE change to the dynamics of crossing and slide taclking, i was just about to make a slide tackle with puyol and i couldnt even see the ball, i just had to hope he got it, the side on view that pro evo has adopted over the years - what the hell was wrong with it? nothing, when did anyone ever complain about the camera angles? never, so why try and fix something which isnt broke, the very first thing you notice in a football game is the camera angle, and i dont care what you say - im telling you, there was NO REASON to change it!!! and has anyone scored a cracker outside the area yet? rememeber how it used to be awesome in the legend that is pes 6 for the ps2, there going to realism over simulation, they change the things that make them the game what they are, why not change the stupid player menus back to what they were when we saw all of the players attributes on 1 page? the gameplay didnt need a radical make over but konami you have forgotten what has made pes in the first place, they should ask any real pes fan like me and ask what makes pes? licences -no, awesome graphics - no, features - no, its the gameplay, and sadly you have forgotten what made you, I will no longer support pes - they just killed my favourite game :( :realmad:

First time on this site in a LONG time...mainly due to FIFA's recent dominance in the football world.
But like every year I download the PES demo praying it'll be back to it's old amazing ways - normally just to be let down within playing my 1st match.
However, this time it's different! It doesn't even feel like a PES anymore it seems like a completely different game altogether. The improvements between PES 2011 & 2010 are vast from what I can tell so far.
Because I've not played PES much in the last couple of years I'm struggling to adapt though, for example, in FIFA I'm used to getting the ball down the wing - using the trick stick to annihilate a player then get a cross in. In PES this is a lot more difficult because I think now you have to choose certain feints etc...?(not 100% sure).
But also, the shooting seems off. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but it seems that if I shot 5 times outside the box...2 of them would be thunderbolts but the other 3 would be feeble floating shots..?
The penalty kick system is a joke to be honest. The camera angle for penalties is terrible & the overall controls for them is as well. That also goes for FIFA 11 btw, penalties have declined!

I am so impressed with the demo. It's the first time on the next gen that PES has actually made me want to play more matches. I've only played 3 so far but can't wait to play more. I have been playing FIFA for 2 years, and haven't tried the FIFA 11 demo yet... But haven't wanted to because I've been so immersed in PES. Whether the game will pass the test of time, unlike the previous next gen versions is another matter, but for the first time in years, I am satisfied with the game. It feels a lot freer than ever without losing that PES feel. I think it just delivers everything that they've been promising (for the past 3-4 years).
Extremely happy so far. Can't wait to get home from work and give it another go.

Both camera angels wide and long have the tilt and yes I did know you can change the camera angle in the game, I been playing pes since 1998, but thanks for recommending that.
i'm sure you'll be able to take the tilt off in the full game
Its not something i'd write 35 paragraphs about.
1 thing that is irritating is the amount of chances im missing in the 6 yard box. Mainly from crosses, they all seem to float over.

After a few more games, I've noticed this as well. Even the tried and trusted "double tap" near post cross invariably travels way too high and long, to the far post and beyond!

The side on camera angle has been what pro evo has used since atleast 1998, so like I said - why fix something when its not broke?, but thanks for commenting.
someone please help me I dont know what to do to download the game on xbox in america a lot of people been concerned about this.. I have gold membership it just DOESNT appear in the marketplace

Disclaimer - I've only played 6 or so games of the demo...but
.....has anyone else seen the *awful* defending in the 6 yard box. Unmarked opponent players getting in free headers and volleys from crosses seems pretty routine. Mind you I have not played with any tactical settings from default to this point, so I dont know if this is down to dodgy tactical/marking settings. This is all on Professional difficulty too.
Not entirely sold on the demo as yet, but it does look and feel better than previous nextgen PES's. It's good enough that I'm interested in checking out the game after, and will pass final judgement on the end product.
There is also another thing I miss in the new PES - delayed offsides (or however it is called).
I mean the situation when there is a player in an offside position but doesn't play the ball - such situations should not be whistled.

Haven't been on this site for a while. After the AC Milan signings I was finally pumped up about football again, so I decided to look into some games. FIFA I just can't get used to.. I started playing ISS PRO on the PS1 and have loved the series ever since.. through the good and the bad.
Anyway, two things bother me/I question about:
1. I think they should bring in a low shot system - for e.g. if you want to hit the ball low and hard, you tap shoot once and then hold it for power.
2. I do not like the stamina gauges. I can't really tell when the player is tired or not (e.g. red doesn't always mean that he can't play anymore).
Just posted this on another site and thought I would share it here:
I was playing a bit more of both demos last night and Fifa was growing on me a bit but then I went back and played PES some more and then something struck me
I was messing around with formations and strategies and the depth of these really struck me. I played 2 games both as Barca vs. Bayern. the first game I went into the simple settings I believe it was and selected offensive (wide) as my option. I don't think I messed with the other settings for how they were going to play like counter for the first 15 minutes etc. but I may have. Using this strategy the game was very wide open and I actually lost 2-0 because Bayren took advantage of the space I was leaving open.
The 2nd game I actually tried defensive wide to see how it would go. It was a much tighter game and Bayern did not press as much and it was more of a midfield battle.
After this experiment my mind started racing There are just so many possibilities with the tactics and and I got me thinking how great it will be during ML for example. Let's say your playing in the CL and it the last group game and you need a draw to advance. Do you go out and play defensive and play for the draw, do you played balanced, do you go for the win etc. etc. etc. You get the idea
To me in Fifa there never is really much need for strategy because the game tends to play the same way.
I have not been a big fan of the last few games but now that they have the game play to go with the depth this game should be amazing when it comes out IMO.

the other thing that I hate aboout fifa is that every single player feels the same.. everyone runs exactly the same etc..
Still is a good game but for me not even close to pes 2010, not even imagine to PES2011
The animations still on FIFA are great, the way the headers are taking the crosses to the pitch I mean they are great and the way the players fight the ball is awesome but still is not the same;)

Not much to be honest I do it on occasion but it doesn't feel much different than using the regular X button to pass to me.

Can you hold players off in 2011. I always remember being able to use a players strength while the ball was in the air and take it down on the chest in older pro evos, but in recent ones you have to either head it or lose the ball to the defender?

Just played my first match of the demo, and I'm afraid to say I'm not impressed. Hopefully its just a case of getting used to it, but in all honesty, I'm not hopeful.
Why over the last few years are Konami so desperate to clutter up the menus and formation screen? It used to be so simple too. Could be another year without a footie game (FIFA is always just plain terrible).

Not bad but i found the shooting on the game rubbish ive been playing pes for years passing needs more work on but gameplay a lot improved but my focus is the edit mode i spend all the time editing than playing
so far i give 8/10 for gameplay
7/10 for new features but i havent used them yet so well see but im still curious about the kits because i heard rumours that they have still kepted all the pes 2010 layers for the kits

It takes most people 20-30 matches to start enjoying the game. For me it took 40+ matches ;) Give yourself some time with the game and be patient or you might be missing the best soccer game that has been made.
P.S. This is not a pick up and play game like Fifa is. It takes time to master it and when you do you will have a big organic smile on your face.

Why did they change things that didnt need changing? They have forgotten what made pro evo in the first place, apple made the same mistake with their computers in the 90s, then they went back to what them in the first place, and look at them today!

played the demo for a good 20 matches. I love it. I will certainly give it try. After 4 years of Fifa I'm going to convert back to PES. The demo is really really good.
Not perfect though. But I hope that there will be adjustments in the full game. Thankfully the game speed is adjustable. 0 tends to be a bit too fast. -1 is perfect in my opinion.
I have a question. Since Fifa will allow custom sound files this year.. is there any chance to have those sounds in PES as well? I am not (yet) familiar with the PES editing scene. I've heard about custom kits and names. Too make the experience even more convincing I'd like authentic chants and entrance music as well.
Take a look at this list: Fifa-Custom-Sounds (http://www.4shared.com/dir/u5SQpiCd/sharing.html)
Is there a chance to incorporate these sound files?

My two cents:
For starters, the new passing system is absolutely brilliant! It's one of those remarkable innovations that make you wonder how you ever managed to play football games before it. It simply sets a gold standard for the genre.
Second, the fouls are very much improved this year and now feel logical and tied to the actual tackle. Yellow and red cards also make sense (unlike PES 9-10) and penalties are called fairly. With respect to the latter I like how refs are more cautious about calling them. e.g. a strong jostle that the ref would have immediately called outside the box would rarely be called inside the box, which what most refs would do in real life. There is of course space for improvement here: There is no reason for us to watch every single foul in replay, just the serious ones. Advantage rules need to be implemented better as well as the ability to collect the ball and quickly execute the free kick, even if the ball rolls away.
The new fouling system in combination with the improvements to jostling means that we can now control the pace of the game in midfield. Making a foul to stop the break or covering the ball in offence to seek a foul against us.
Now to the negative. There are mainly three serious things I don't like with PES 2011. In no particular order:
Attacking player returns. Imagine the following scenario: You cross into the box, the defender clears the ball away, but it ends up in the feet of one of your players in the flanks. You seek to make another cross immediately, but you can't... As soon as the ball changed possession, the defenders, rightly, advanced up-field as quickly as possible to relieve pressure in the box and/or prepare for a possible break. However, your own attacking players will only move out the opponents box at a leisurely pace, so by the time you try to make the second cross 2 or 3 of them will be offside... What's more, if after clearing the ball the opponents go on the break half your team will, for the same reason, take forever to return to their own half...
Loose balls. That is another serious issue. When the ball is running loose the AI controlled players of your own team will do nothing to intercept it on their own. The only way to get them to move at the ball is to take control of the nearest player manually, which means that, assuming you are given control of the right player on the first try, your timing will be a bit off. This is crucial everywhere, but more so inside the box, where you can see defenders gleefully ignoring loose balls, while AI team strikers run towards them like bloodhounds. Your players need to be a lot more aggressive towards intercepting loose balls.
These two problems existed in PES 9 and 10, but the last one is new or at least much worse this year.
Goalkeepers. My biggest gripe for this year. Spoken from the perspective of an amateur goalie, GKs are absolutely awful in almost every respect! I can live with the sub-par, compared to the outfield players, animations (while FIFA has amazing goalie animations), but there are certain things in their behaviour that you wouldn't even expect to see in weekend 7-a-side team goalies... For one their positions are frequently wrong. They will blunder too close to one post, leaving the goal exposed. For another their coming of the line, while timed correctly and decisive is sometimes lacking in the dive. They try to dive left or right in situations where they should have instead just made themselves "big" by thrusting hands and feet in all directions.
However, both of these are not particularly frequent and therefore not that serious. What is serious are the deflections which are nothing short of abominable! Simply put, the goalie always attempts to deflect the ball out of play or to the flanks. Never in front of him or inside the box, which is precisely what PES keepers will do 80% of the time. When you see your goalie deflect a ball you know with mathematical certainty that there is going to be a follow up and coupled with the defender's tardiness in intercepting loose balls, it is likely that a striker will get to it first, leaving him with a shot at an open goal...
Deflections such as these would be embarrassing for amateur goalkeepers. When a pro does something of the kind he would attract a lot of negative attention very quickly...
Anyway, just my two -not so short- cents.
Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives and I expect PES 2011 to be a much more enjoyable experience this year.

why in amazon japan, all winning elven titles on ps3 have very low ratings? most customer reviews gave 1 star out of 5 in all winning eleven ps3 games, this means even the Japanese know the game is a failure, the only way for pes to come back is to change the console, there will never be a good pes title on playstation 3, maybe in ps4 things might change

Filthydani,
You seem to be of the same mind as myself. Pro Evo's on the ps3 have all been truly awful and in no way comparable to the legendary versions on PS2. I have been one of the harshest critics of Konami since Pro's unsuccessful (to say the least) move to next gen, and rightly so!
However, Pro evo 2011 is finally half a step in the right direction for Konami, i feel there is finally something to build on, but that is it. It is only a building block, far far from where Konami need to go.
The gameplay has a more pro like feel than any of the other ps3 versions but they have a whole load of work to do get this right so you actually feel the players are on the grass and not skating on it.
The way the players run with an arked back makes them look like they are suffering from lower back issues. The shooting is still crap and doesn't feel right and has that floaty Fifa element about it. The nets are rubbish and look elsaticy rather a 'netty'. It looks ok, but the gameplay issues are far more important.
If they build on this year versions for next year too then I may end up buying but until then I am safe in the knowledge that a failry solid ps2 version will also released which I will buy.

Can anyone tell me if the gameplay on the actual game is similar to the demo? I've been a PES fan since number 3, but this is the first year I'm considering getting Fifa.
After playing the demo I just found the game really sluggish. I played PES 2010 soon after and it just felt like a breath of fresh air, which isn't the way it should be.

It is very similar, few changes though. Have in mind that Pes11 has a steep learning curve. Most peeps donīt get familiar with it until after 20 games.

So can anyone tell me why they did not release a demo in the USA xbox live marketplace?

what Barca style, I thought they just go up the side and give it to Messi to run baseline and cut back a pass to Ibra! Isn't that the real Barca style??? LOL!
my only complaint is step over has been moved to the right analogue stick
if this cannot be changed in the full game i wont be buying it
