I been a D-pad fan for a big while, I played all football games with D-pad (actually is the only game that I don't feel confortable with left joystick), I read a few comments regarding that the D-pad is a bad choice for PES2011, I'm still waiting for the "official" demo release on next Sep 15 in order to try the first match using D-pad, I also read similar issues on PES09 and PES10 but I still feel confortable with it. Can anyone comment about the best approach?

After 8 yrs sticking with D-Pad to play PES series, I changed to joystick last year and now I cannot live without joystick :)

However, I still use d-pad for settings, IMO, it's more accurate & even faster!

So you could practice joystick now in order to get the whole benefit of the future gameplay. Goodluck!

Cheers!

I tested analogue... its fine and dandy...

But D - Pad is better for me...

Why? Because analogue hurts my thumb...

D-Pad is just as good as Ana and vice versa.

I was the opposite my thumb used to hurt more when i used the d-pad.
When i changed to xbox 360 i had to start using analogue for a couple of reasons ,360 d-pad is s*** and the position of the d-pad feels like my thumb is restricted because of the position of it .
Now it took a while to get used to it but is so much better when you retrain your brain after all thoses hours of d-pad thumb abuse:)

I started using the analog controler on my pc, when i bought a chillstream for pc :) And it's kinda easier using the analog than using the d-pad :)

Thanks for your comment dude, actually I started playing with joystick on PES09 and I played very similar than D-pad, won the UCL on Top Player level and several online games, however I still feel more confortable with D-pad and don't like it, maybe I have 20 years using it :) (I feel so old writing this), I started playing NES games, then Sega Genesis, PC, PS1, PS2 and PS3 and never used analog joystick where available. However, some folks that owned a Nintendo 64 are more familiar with analog joystick than the ones that never had it.

after playing the demo I just figured out that D-pad really died here... the game is awesome, the best one since PES5, a lot realistic, however it is a MUST to use the joystick. Any thoughts?

^Yeah especially with the new passing system. It's impossible on the d pad.

I was just like you, always played every game with D-pad, but I figured to enjoy PES 2011's new passing system I should use a joystick....so I bough an Xbox 360 controller and it really works nice with the game. So I recommend you to switch as well.

In 2010 I tried using the analog stick.... without any luck....

After a month or so I went back to D-pad... it's just way more precise.

same happend to me, however for PES2011 seems that we need to come back to joystick system.
