seriously what kind of question is that. If anybody out there only downloads the PES demo they want shooting. When there are free demos to compare you do it, you dont blindly follow PES with faith. Play the demo and even if its shit buy it over FIFA. I will be eagerly waiting the fifa demo as last year pes2010 sucked and fifa was great. Now i dont think judging by the responses that PES2011 is gonna suck but whether its up there with the quality of FIFA10/11 we will soon see.

BTW every year reviewers say its the best football game ever made (which ever release we are on either PES or FIFA, wheras in truth neither prolly will be or ever are)

FIFA is fun for a rental, but every game becomes to feel the same after awhile. PES has so much variety and depth to the gameplay that keeps you happy for a long time. I still play PES2010 regularely online and its still a blast!

I have just popped on the fifa forum, normally you can read posts about fifa fanboys discussing their disgust at anything pes related. 9 times out of 10 the thread get's out of hand and is closed.

Now there is a new fifa 11 forum which replaces the normal fifa 11 ng forum, on the fifa 11 ng forum you could again read comments relating to pes 11, there were quite a few posts from fifa fans stating how good the game looks and sounding very optimistic at how things have changed since pes 2010.

Now on the fifa 11 forum anything to do with pes 2011 is instantly closed, yes i know some will say , well it is a fifa forum after all. To be honest i think easports are greatly concerned/worried with what konami have turned out this year.

I won't be going anywhere near a Fifa game for a very long time now if PES is half as good as I expect it to be. On the off chance it's not I can always fall back to Kick Off 2.

Downloading fifa too :P
I think this year with the Be A Keeper and the new Manager Mode Fifa will have more depth!

shaun7
15-09-2010, 09:20
^True, especially be a keeper. I always wanted something like that.
But really, the gameplay matter most as there were some things I COULDN'T STAND about fifa 10. I hope they're better now otherwise I will be bored of fifa. In my opinion fifa 09 was a better overall product than fifa 10. I hope 11 won't go downhill.

From what I have read on the FIFA forums (talk about biased), there are several complains and mixed feelings. Too fast, too easy seem to be the most common along with "More of FIFA 10.5 than FIFA 11".

I think we're on the right boat for once.

iv played 4 or 5 games on the fifa demo and im not very impressed. i usually buy fifa on release and get bored of it after a few weeks, dont think im going to bother buying it this year. waiting to try the pes demo hopefully its as good as most people say it is.

Im a football man and i will download fifa l8r on...but i know already i wont like it...i never like fifa...ive always been a pes man! To me fifa is always to easy and you can score scremers with curtis davis...flip flaps, rainbow flick etc...its jus silly!!!is that realistic??? Not in my eyes...ok fifa does have some good points like the comentary and no online lag, but all that will be fixed for pes 2011...even fifa fans i know have said that if the final code is as good as the demo, then fifa will struggle to be top dog...alot of them are really scared that mlo will take over...

15-09-2010, 12:38
I'm gonna get both. Fifa on manual is very good against mates, but i'm far more excited for pro. Also means i have something to play for a few weeks before pro is released/ an option file is made :D

I've decided that this year I'm gonna pay very little attention to reviews and just see which demo I prefer. I think there is currently a massive bias towards Fifa in the review market and even if PES massively improves this year I still think Fifa will end up with a better Metacritic score.

Fifa 10 had major problems with the Manager Mode bugs and yet some reviewers said it was a perfect game and the best game of football ever made! If one of the major game modes is critically flawed how can it get 9.5 and 10/10???

Agreed, had a look on the FIFA forums this morning and feelings are a lot more mixed than I expected. Even for the type and irritating fanboys the FIFA fanboys are known for there are quite a lot of poeple complaining about the same issues they had in FIFA 10. For example, too much and constant defensive pressure, too easy to take the ball away etc.

From the gameplay movies I've seen I wasn't impressed by FIFA 11 at all, as the gameply looks pretty much like FIFA 10. Personality+ is a gimmick IMO.

heheh the funny thing is that there is this Dave guy who runs fifasoccerblog.com and he is pretty much the "adam" (winningelevenblog) version of fifa. One guy complained that Puyol hit a perfect 40yard through pass to Messi to score (which although not impossible chances are very slim it will happen) this Dave guys just goes on Puyol can hit these passes as he is a professional footballer etc.

Glad to see the same shit we saw on PES forums for 3 straight years happening in fifa forums this year. All the denial, convincing etc.

The problem is that these days you cannot trust reviews as most major game companies buy good scores...and review sites allow this as it's good revenue.

As Shaun7 mentioned FIFA09 was a lot better than FIFA10 IMHO. And Fifa10 had major problems with MM but got incredibly high scores. The first fifa11 review is a 94% by gamesmaster...and I can promise you than it's scores will be skyhigh across the board...but go have a look at there forums in a month's time and you will see how everyone disses the game for being piss poor.

Don't trust reviews ever...

GTA IV is the best example, although a brilliant game, it was nowhere near as good and in-depth as GTA: San Andreas but GTAIV got perfect scores from everyone...

The biggest sites always rate too high because of back payments and shit, and small sites always give shit ratings just so that people go visit there site and read why they rate is so poorly. The gaming industry has become too much of a business unfortunately...

You were correct all along Bru! This year PES will finally have the better game (not that FIFA is bad, just doesn't warrant a new purchase IMO).

Ah forget Adam/Dave, its sad to see grown men argue over a videogame.

Hope you pre-ordered NBA2K11. Along with PES, those 2 will be all that you need til The Show 11 comes along!

Sadly I think you're very right. Especially concerning EA and Fifa. Don't know if you've noticed but Fifa 11 sponsors everything!! I watched the Premiership highlights on Yahoo at lunchtime and it ends by saying -

"This programme is brought to you in partnership with Fifa 11."

I wonder if Yahoo will give Fifa a good score... ;)

I'm not saying Fifa 11 won't be a good game, I just don't think it'll be anywhere near as good as the 94% scores that Gamemaster and no doubt many others will give.

Well reviewers are never to be trusted. I completely agree with this.
I played the winning eleven demo and now I am downloading the fifa demo.
I still need much more time than I expected with the we demo as it's different.
One negative is that the players turn a bit rough and it isn't as fluid.
But overall so far, it's much better than 10 especially the defensive play. And having played fifa 10 on semi assisted shooting, I find pes 11's shooting pretty good. I think the people who are complaining need more time practicing. And USE THE PLACED SHOTS MORE OFTEN. ;)

Just played both demos, and I have to say that I see almost no difference between Fifa 10 and 11, except perhaps a new menu and newer music. Personality + turns out to be exactly what people thought it was, a marketing gimmick.

Pes on the other hand, plays absolutely fantastic. The speed is spot on with -1, passing is crisp and shooting is a lot of fun. Im not that great yet though, but im sure this game rewards practice and im glad i dont have to cancel my preorder.

Having played both demos ,all i can say is im very impressed with both games and will be buying both this year fifa for xbox ,pes for pc , for me pes has really improved since the last time i played it (pes 2009, which was shite) im really happy to have a choice of two quality football games rather than just fifa which i was forced to turn to (not played fifa since fifa 96 )ive always played pro evo ,but pes has been shite since pes 6 imo, although pes 2008 was ok , ok they both have there faults but i can live with them ,im no fan boy of either game i just want to play a decent game of football...........

I already download FIFA11 demo last night at Americas PS Store and played a couple of matches, sincerly it is still FIFA, it is a good game however I still feel more confortable playing PES by a mile.

At this point I have 75% of PES11 demo downloaded, still waiting...

I downloaded the FIFA and like someone else said it is FIFA and I just prefer PES but I would give FIFA 8/10 and PES 9/10, PES just looks and plays that bit better although the menu systems on FIFA are clearer but who cares about that lol

i agree not much difference between fifa 10 & 11, and i feel as if fifa this year will be a letdown to alot of people. iv played about 6 or 7 games on the pes demo and im really enjoying it, i think the king is returning lol.

15-09-2010, 22:21
well ive played 20 matches on FIFA 11 demo now and to me its the same as FIFA 10....the demo is ok but the gameplay isnt good enough for me.....the passing and gameplay on PES is so much slicker and effective....Fifa does have good comentary and game vids...but thats always been one of the only good things about Fifa....

The overall experience of PES has me taken and it feels like pes of old....as i predicted, pes will be back on top this year!! Roll on the 8th Oct...cant wait to start a master league with a brand new option file...

ive played both games hand in hand . FIFA 11 AND PES 11 i thought the experiance would change, of course i feel fifa has better animations.

i then switched to PES...... two games.

I LOVE IT..... its got this feeling that ive not had since jeez the PS2 days. i mean last year , i was iffy about pes 2010 gameplay. then disapointed.
THERES SO MUCH TO DO ON PES 2011

HINT.

R2 when dribbling LOOKS SICK !
L2 passes anywhere i want.

PES plays better , jeez feels like im back in 2005

im loving the new fifa (words that i though id never say) and gonna pre order this instead and maybe get pes a little later down the line
i missed out last year on fifa 2010 because of the terrible pc version.
But im seriously impressed by fifa this year more so than pes 2011

last time i bought fifa was in 98:lol:

I already downloaded the FIFA 11 demo. I couldn't even play one single game. Its the worse game around. After 20 years of making football games they still can't do a proper human body, it seems like players shoulders were sawn off. The kits are awfull, the game play sucks and players seem to slide rather then run on the field. Players faces are a disgrace, most of them don't have one and those who have it seems like a chocolate sculpture. It would be a bad game without PES existing. With PES on its way to the shelves, FIFA 11 is definitely the worse thing around.

FIFA still felt ponderous and I just don't want a measured 'realistic' approach in my football game. Sure, in PES you might be the don, but then we play games to beat them, and beating PES rarely fails to feel good.

I turned it off after about 20 in-game minutes. Soulless as always.

Is it really nex-gen on the PC, or just improved graphics with the same crappy gameplay?

muscularmatt
16-09-2010, 17:33
Now I'm no fanboy, but I have much prefered PES over FIFA in the past 5 or 6 years. This year FIFA has improved massively imo, however the PES demo has really impressed me. I'll probably buy PES.

wallpaper_01
16-09-2010, 17:40
Ok, download both and played 3 games on FIFA and 3 on PES. This year I was going to buy both games because I have friends online that play both, but after playing I could only buy one. PES. After playing FIFA it's clear that they have gone for the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' approach, which means that if you really liked FIFA before you will like it again. But I have not noticed any differences between FIFA 10 and 11 yet which is disappointing. I thought FIFA was far from perfect so I don't understand why they have not changed anything, its the same game with updated strips!

Now for pes. It's wierd because the graphics look exactly the same, no updates here but it's the gameplay that shocked me. For the first time since playing pes since pes 2 it feels completely different. I think having not updated the graphics has allowed them to overhaul the game engine. The passing is so free and easy, the animations look real. Running with messi you cab dribble in and out at speed but not in a god like way. It's weird going back to FIFA after this, FIFA feels like a cartoon.

Bad points in the demo were that goal keepers have not really improved, referees don't play advantage and give every little foul! This can be frustrating but I am happy that konami have finally listened and have given a true next gen football game.

byrnie05
17-09-2010, 00:27
Whilst the PES player models haven't changed a great deal, the 'camera' has, so there's more realistic depth of field and motion blur on the replays and they've made it look pretty close to broadcast quality.
