First things first, this is all in game. The characters are apparently the first to be fully rendered with "every subtlety and nuance of an actor's facial expressions and emotions." This will apparently help us when trying to figure out whether you're being lied to....so I'm expecting a dialog heavy video game here.
Rockstar says the game has you trying to solve crimes through a blend of classic action, clue-finding and interrogation, allowing players to analyze every subtle nuance of an actor's performance in order to get to the truth.
I'm intrigued. Firstly we need to know if this is going to be free roam or not, and if not, what is it going to be? A heavy rain-esque title? An interactive story where we pick up with the characters at different chapters/points of the story and have a bit of gameplay? God only knows right now.
I like modern text/dialogue driven games and interactive adventures like Hotel Dusk, Syberia and Another Code so I like the look and sound of this so far.
Awesome. Was expecting it earlier like late April but thats not too far away. *pre-orders*

The facial expressions really are brilliantly done.
Pre-ordered my copy couple days ago, can not wait for this!
Blimey, some way off yet then. Plenty of time to get through ME2.
Only 4 months, time will fly by.
It's out on 20th May not the 7th.

Is the main guy Ken Cosgrove from Mad Men?
I think we need some gameplay footage. Cutscenes are all well and good, but they don't show how the game plays.
Better not be exactly the same as GTA again. I'd still love it, but i'd like to see Rockstar evolving the formulae man.

AndrewW91 asks... Could you give us a sense of how open the world is? And what kind of activities we can take part in while not on a mission (if any)?
Jeronimo Barrera: The world is completely open for you to travel through at all times, but the focus of the game is not the same as a Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption. This time, the city is a backdrop for the incredibly accurate real-world locations and crime scenes that Cole Phelps explores on his way to solving each case. The game has been crafted to seamlessly blend classic cops-and-robbers style action with dynamic interrogations and searching for suspects in a way that one doesn't distract from the other.
There are ambient events within the game world that you will hear more about in the weeks ahead, like unassigned cases or robberies in progress that you can take on outside of the main story, but the focus is on Cole's progression through the ranks of the LAPD and the events that unfold as a result.
It's a very intense game because we ask you to listen very carefully to what has been said and to remember names, places and clues, as well as decide whether you can believe what someone is saying. It's going to be a very new experience for our audience but one we think they are very ready for.
I'm really excited about this game still. It's open world, but they're trying to veer it away from the GTA and Red Dead feel, and focus more on the mystery, plot and rising up the ranks.
Apparently you can arrest the wrong suspects and there are multiple ways to solve cases, and different methods will help/hinder your progression up the ranks of the LAPD, so their will be replayability as well.

Yeah, but there's always the problem with "right side of the law" games in the fact you can't do everything you want to do, so i doubt we'll be able to indiscriminately cave in skulls or hijack cars among things.
Edit - Just had a thought, maybe you can stop a pedestrian, show them your badge and take their vehicle for police business, we need to know these things lol.
I remember you could do that in one of the old true crime games. You could also search people and the boots of their cars and shit. Pretty funny when you see and old lady with a m16 in the boot lol.
Sounds really good though, as it sounds like the sort of game you've really got to get into to play.

Well at the very least I hope when interrogating suspects you can get a little 'too rough'.

I've read that the world will be more akin to Mafia 2 than GTA/RDR, so a really nice backdrop with not much to do other than drive round and do the story, but it won't be anywhere as linear as Mafia 2. As long as the game is great I doubt i'd care as I loved Mafia 2 nonetheless.
A few facts I've just picked up:
1) There are at least main 22 cases in the game.
2) Cases have multiple outcomes. Some have up to 9 different endings depending on the actions you take/mistakes you make.
3) You can fail cases and sometimes failing a case may open up new cases that are otherwise inaccessible
4) Ammo is unlimited, though I don't know if this means you will never run out of it or if there is an unlimited supply available to you at the LAPD.
5) You can choose to ignore the driving mechanics of the game and have your partner drive you everywhere instead.
6) All cases are based on real crimes from the period, with some unsolved mysteries having endings written for them in the game.
7) There will be multiple endings to the main game.
8) Rockstar Games are only publishing this game and have no hand in developing it, so it isn't guaranteed to match up to the usual heights of say RDR and GTA so maybe don't hype this up too much lol.
Sounds good to me.

Hmmm, I did not know that. Even so, you gotta trust Rockstar's judgement. I don't think they'd attach themselves to a game, if it was gonna be shite. Everything else you mention sounds great. Sounds like theres some aspects of Heavy Rain, with the multiple endings and what-not. Should have plenty of replayability.
Really looking forward to this now that it has a release date. It's in a pretty damn long list of must-buys for 2011 already.

Good. A lot of games piss on themselves by forcing in a terrible multiplayer experience, *cough* BioShock 2 *cough*.
The gameplay trailer looks brilliant though, and the face motions and voice acting looks like nothing I've ever witnessed before in a game, it's sensational. Lets cross our fingers that the game story is quite lengthy, but with it being R* I think we can assume that'll be the case.

Looks good. The release date is 20th May, apparently? That's nice then, because my exam's over on 15th May.
I'm definitely glad there's no multi-player in the game. I also hate multi-player achievements, so that's another plus.
Game looks fookin' brilliant after the latest gameplay trailer. I really can't wait for it, it's a day 1 purchase for me along with quite a few games this year. My bank account is going to hate 2011.
Don't fancy pre-ordering L.A. Noire but worried you'll miss out on the various shop-offered early-bird goodies?
Rockstar has revealed they'll be sold as downloadable additions after launch - as will the Read Dead Redemption pre-order goodies at long last.
"All of the L.A. Noire pre-order content will be made available for purchase as DLC at some point after the game comes out," wrote Rockstar on its website.
"We have long planned to do this for all digital pre-order items.
"In case you're interested," the post added, "the Red Dead Redemption pre-order items (Deadly Assassin Outfit, Golden Guns Weapon Pack and War Horse) will finally be available for download via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this April. Apologies that has taken so long, but we ran into some technical issues."
L.A. Noire can be pre-ordered from a variety of shops, each dangling a different piece of bonus bait before you.
Hmmm..
L.A. Noire pre-order bonuses are diverse - a handful of shops all jostle for your heavy, money-dripping purse.
Here's a roundup of what's on offer.
GAME is the only place with two bits of content: the Naked City case and the Badge Pursuit Challenge.
The former revolves around the mysterious death of a beautiful fashion model - no peeking under the white sheet. The papers say suicide, but was it?
Badge Pursuit Challenge scatters 20 police badges around LA for you to find. Each one you collect grants five additional experience points, and if you manage to locate them all then you'll receive the Button Man detective suit. This provides extra ammo for all weapons.
Amazon offers The Broderick detective suit, which boosts fist-fighting power and defence.
Play has bagged the Slip of the Tongue case, a car theft investigation that eventually uncovers a huge auto-fraud racket.
Zavvi, finally, has The Sharpshooter detective suit which, understandably, helps your aim with pistols and rifles.

I hate all this exclusive pre-order bonus rubbish. I'm alright with pre-order bonuses in general, but it's unfair to make us miss out on certain aspects of the game because of where we bought the gmae from. If I was to pre-order it, I'd most likely go for one of the options with an added mission. At least it adds something worthwhile to the game.

I hope that it won't end up like Heavy Rain. It was advertised as, 'different choices provides different outcome' or something similar along those lines.
The truth was, there were very few of your actions that had an effect on the next scenes.
If its like Heavy Rain I won't be bothering with it.
It's nothing like Heavy Rain from the very short clips we've seen, maybe more like Alan Wake.
Ali_BWFC

It looks like Heavy Rain meets GTA/RDR.
The main L.A. Noire story lasts 25 to 30 hours, Rockstar has revealed.
On top of the unmissable "assigned cases" you can investigate "unassigned cases" - side-quests, PlayStation Life reported.
Consider that more unassigned cases will be added through DLC and L.A. Noire should keep you happy for weeks.
Just like Homefront. What?
L.A. Noire is an ambitious detective game built on a new generation of performance capture technology. The result is so real you can deduce clues from interrogations by catching suspects out and watching their reaction.

Achievements & Trophies
Rockstar have trumped all you Trophy hunters by revealing the list of silverware themselves – there’s no Achievement scores of Trophy colour, but you do get a great idea of the sort of game L.A. Noire has become.

Just read that there will be exclusive PS3 content. It probably won't be exclusive forever, but it's still good for us PS3 owners.
Exclusive content is a pain in the arse, unless it works out in your favour :D
Rockstar has confirmed that L.A. Noire will receive exclusive content in the PlayStation 3 version of the game. We reported this morning that retailers had updated their boxart for the PS3 version of the game, hinting at exclusive features. Later evidence suggested that PS3 owners would get an additional mission called the “Consuls Car Traffic Case”.

Hmm. I don't mind cutscenes too much, as long as they're not excessive and there aren't loading screens before and after. Hopefully, this means that the gameplay is also long.

The edition from Game seems definitely the best option, it's essentially an extra mission and a continuous searching mission like in most R* games.
I haven't really had a lot of time to check this out the last month or so, but it does look pretty decent. I may buy it if I can finish Red Dead Redemption in time, but we'll see since Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is out soon too I believe.

I won't be surprised if we'd be paying for unlocks, it's the norm nowadays, unfortunately.
I pre-ordered my game from shopto ages ago as at the time they had the best price.
I had mine pre-ordered there up until a few weeks ago, but the last game I ordered with them didn't arrive at all, so I've had to go through the process of getting a refund on it - I've gone with GAME in the end as it is altogether the best package.
It's a shame about shopto, because I'd never had a problem with them before, but now I'm a bit hesitant to order there again. :/
I've had mine pre-ordered at Amazon for quite a while, not really fussed about the pre-order bonus'
Will pick up mine's from hmv along with LA Confi on BD..

Is that a bad thing? Looking at the whole package it's something I could live without.

You never get the ability to swin in these types of games. Don't really think it is needed.

Aye, we didn't have it in RDR and that wasn't a problem. Plus I can't see there being much need for swimming. It's not like he has to escape from the law or anything.... he IS the fucking law!

A lucky Gamefaqs user has gotten his hands on the newest issue of OXM UK which features a review for L.A Noire. Receiving a perfect 10/10 L.A Noire is set to be one of the top games this year. Check out the details from the review below.
Very meaty, very lengthy (took them about 30 hours to finish the main story, and took them around 40ish to complete everything)
Very cinematic, takes many cues from LA Confidential they said. Also according to the reviewer "A game that bridges cinema and the gaming universe."
Motion Scan is the highlight for them, and the feeling of actually being a detective. They said no game comes close to the experience that they had with L.A Noire.
Great Narrative. In there opinion they said it has the dramatic, and cinematic storytelling of Heavy Rain, with the complexity of Metal Gear Solid, mixed with the length of Red Dead Redemption (but longer).
Excellent pacing. At first you start somewhat slow, but you quickly rise within the ranks. Once you finish the 30 hour epic you become attatched with the world, the characters, the cases. Not many games have done that for him (said the reviewer).
-Gameplay is a bit clunky. If your fan of Red Dead, or GTA IV then the gameplay of LA Noire won't feel out of place. That said, they were hoping for some advancement in this aspect.
Overall Score: 10/10
Closing comments;
"If you were expecting L.A Noire to be a reskinned GTA then you will be left severely disappointed. Many times we hear, "Who will be gaming's Citizen Kane?". Personally, I don't have the gall to say L.A Noire is that type of game. But it is a game that will revolutionize the gaming industry as we know it. Never in my 20 year history of gaming have I encountered a game with as much finesse, intelligence, and attention to detail as L.A Noire, and for that I applaud L.A Noire. A game which has the nerve to do so much, in an industry where a seldom few are."
Sounds like Rockstar games has another hit on their hands.
EDIT: Ignore this, apparently it's fake. Still wouldn't be surprised if got 10 or 9.

I expect the real reviews will start to crop up around Tuesday and Wednesday nest week, in time for the US release,
Urgh. I've still got to finish Red Dead Redemption, and then I'll be getting Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, so I'll probably have to wait a few weeks until I get LA Noire at the earliest, maybe same with Lego PotC since Red Dead Redemption will still take me a while to finish unless I rape it.
Can't really afford it either with having to fork out so much just to fix my bike. Grr.
If you can't get around to it Hunter, then I'm sure wheel let you know how good it is...

14 minutes of gameplay on here, tiny spoilers in the video apparently.
http://kotaku.com/5802203/14-minutes-of-la-noires-unexpected-thrills
From what I've seen in the video
Can't get your gun out whenever you want
Can't run over people
Auto jumping
Different partners after promotion
Partners can take over control of the car
Don't go into the game thinking it will be anything like GTA, there are car chases, gun fights and fist fights but it's not an action orientated game, it's a thinking game.
There will still be some free roam element, otherwise why would they release an edition that has an atypical Rockstar collection element?
I hope there are random criminal acts too, so you can just 'cop' out of the main cases for a while!
I can understand the gun ethic too. You are supposed to be a good guy...
Yeah it's free roam and you get crimes called in through the police radio which you can accept.
IGN review 8.5, doesn't surprise me as IGN are bunch of losers who only like games like MW.

Each case will have similarities, clues to find places to go. It's how they are told that makes the difference. Knowing Rockstar, it'll all be done with a certain panache.
I can't wait for this. I think it will be great. Games are becoming too similar these days and this surely will mix things up abit.

8.5 is still a great score. I don't know why some people think that it's not. I had no idea whether the game was gonna be any good, most of the preview talk was on the interogations and the facial animations.
Most other review scores seem to be around the 9/10 mark, including Gamespot, and Gamesradar. The Guardian gave it 5/5. So it sounds like a great game. I'll be buying it.

I've had that worry before when ordering from Amazon but have always got what I pre-ordered either on or before the release date, despite the estimate saying it will arrive 1 to 2 days later than the release date.
They usually predict that your order will get there a day after release, probably to stop any moaners claiming they said it would be there on release date.

Sony's 3.61 firmware patch for the PS3, which attempted to secure consoles after the PSN breach, could be making older machines freeze or switch off.
This claim originated on an official Rockstar support page. However, this page has since been taken down, and Rockstar have stressed that this was not an official statement. The information was sourced by a member of their customer support team from the European PlayStation boards.
When the page was active, Rockstar support detailed "reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down/turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models."
And that it was "confirmed locally that multiple games (Rockstar and non-Rockstar) overheat or freeze only when 3.61 is installed."
Again, Rockstar have stressed that this was not an official statement. When contacted for comment, Sony said, "We don't comment on rumours or speculation about our products."

Got The Naked City and Badge Pursuit Challenge with it.... thought I obviously won't be able to download because of PSN store failure. To accompant the badge pursuit, there's a evidence bag type of thing with some fake photo reels.

I think I'll only buy this at the end of the month. I'm down to my last B$90 after I've deposit my money to buy a pair of sneaker.
Just hit a plot twist, the story in this game is amazing! Might have to give it a couple play throughs.
Lost 2 days to this. Only about 4 missions left to do (already done the DLC one).
Loving the story and enthralled by the pacing. Still got 40odd % to go on game completion as I have made no attempt to find the film reels, cars or shields yet!
Will need to replay one or two of the cases minimum. Especially the second arson one as I completely fucked up the questioning and found myself unsure who to convict. Ended up picking the wrong one! I love the fact you need to think more, especially if you don't solve the puzzles correctly.
Definitely going to purchase all the DLC for this. It is probably the most engrossing game I think I've ever played.

Burglary and Fraud sounds interesting.
I'm not that far in the game yet. Taking my time as usual. I am struggling to gauge people's reactions though... sometimes I can tell, other times I have no idea whether they're lying or not. The shooting is a bit shite, but I was expecting it to be. Looking forward to sticking more hours into this. It's funny how in every case you see people that you recognise from other things. There's the drunk guy outside the bar in on of the early cases who say's he knows you.... I know him from somewhere. The bloke from Mad Men as a bartender too.
If they were ever to do a sequel, or some sort of follow on, I'd like there to be more reprecussions if you fail a case, instead of just saying "Case failed, hostage was killed" etc. Maybe there is in the later cases, I'm still only in Traffic. But it would add more of Heavy Rain aspect to the game.
I've seen plenty of characters I've interviewed before at other crime scenes, bit fishy! haha but yeah I've trouble telling if people are lying, most of the time I think they are it turns out they were telling the truth prehaps I just think everyone is lying!
Won't say much about further in the game but you don't really fail a case, just get told off. Vice desk is probably the most intresting after the last few cases of homocide.

The drunk guy outside the bar seems familiar to me too and after doing some browsing I think I've found out who it is. This guy: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0003928/
I was just running back from a crime scene on top of a hill and bumped into another detective, who was just standing there, and sent him flying. It was as if he'd just been hit by a huge gust of wind; I couldn't stop laughing. I'm up to case number 8 now.
He pops round quite a few places the drunk guy.
Theres another bartender who's face is pretty recognisable, looks kind of droopy. http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/196699-header.jpg
Also if anyones watched Glory Daze, Malcom In The Middle or Jeepers Creepers 2 you'll recognise someone when you reach the arson desk.
I've seen 2-3 faces I recognise from TV. I kept meaning to check, but couldn't tear myself away.
Not been on it today though. Needed to see the real sky & get outside for a bit :faceplm:

Really enjoyed this, it's a nice change of pace. Love the investigation & questioning aspect even though Cole is not really the most likeable character.
All I have left to do is drive the remaining 15-20 vehicles, a few locations, I'm 21 film reels in & only have 2 badges so far. Saying that, I'm not too fussed about 100% completion, I'd much rather have the next wedge of DLC cases.

I haven't had time to play this since the weekend. I get the impression the weekend will be the only time I can play it properly.
Quick question: Can you go back to the side missions after completing the main story, like in GTA/RDR? I've only done one and I can't see myself doing many more while the story is ongoing. It's not like GTA or RDR, where you'll have lulls, giving you time to do other things, without straying from the main plot.

You certainly can. From the main menu you select 'cases', then you'll be able to select the department (homicide/vice etc.) and from there you can opt for 'free roam'
It's slightly clunky though as side cases are split between departments, so certain incidental crimes can only be done while working for Vice for example (either during the main story or via free roam though the case files). The collection aspects are available at all times.
In some respects you're better leaving the side cases for free roam as any accidents/damage etc. can negatively affect your case rating during the main story.

Thanks Fick. The main reason I don't want to deviate from the the main story is because it would just seem unrealistic. You wouldn't head off to a minor incident while in the middle of a major case.
Well, one reason for doing the street crimes is that (for the very first one you do, at least - I've only done one, so I'm not sure if it applies to each one) you get an intuition point for completing it, which come in handy to help you along with the main story cases.
I thought you earned the points each time you levelled up.. :erm:
Only used a few myself, I enjoyed gathering the evidence, between that and trying to read the faces and making sure you could back up any 'lie' calls it made it challenging.
I do know you can only store 5 points at one time though.

Arson?
I know I had to wait for a while for the last 2 to come up. The Arson section of the game is more driven than the two prior so you find yourself driving around less. Annoyingly nearly all the incidental cases are the other end of the map from Hollywood station. You might have to wait, or re-do another street crime just to jog the games memory (which is what I think worked for me).
Have you scanned the whole map?
To be honest I thought Arson was the most boring desk out of them all, would rather have kept Vice going longer or Homicide.

in all honesty... this game should have been called mulholland noire...
I hated my partner during the vice section. He was such a slimy twat.
Best partner in the game is this guy:

Same, Earle reminded me of Kevin Spaceys character in LA Confidential.
Also, I find it a bit weird Rockstar published this picture, yet you never actually do anything like this in the game. I'm guessing it's from one of the desks cut from the game.

One of these days picking up a hairbrush, a bottle of beer or a wooden spoon is going to be vital to a case. Well that's what I keep telling myself anyway. Arsenal When it shows you the vehicle/city damage at the end of a case, does that have any effect on anything at all?
Yeh I believe it affects the star rating you get.

This doesn't pertain to the case.
Needless to say I'm absolutely loving it.

Aye, I'm only part way through homicide, but I love the dynamic between Cole and this guy. I hate him at first, thought he was a tosspot, but he's grown on me.

And evey empty bottle of bear, empty cigarrette packets etc :D
They must help towards you're rating though, helping you find all the clues in that case.

It's gripping. I usually go through games REALLY slowly, but I'm going through this one a lot faster..... but still taking my time.... but not as much as usual :)
Got my first 5* today, on the homicide case with the hispanic lady. Though I completely fucked up the last one (with Greg Grunburg)..... got 1* Arsenal.

Same here. I really threw myself into the game & enjoyed it's ability to immerse you into the story and events. My only worry now is that when the case DLC's are downloaded and I sit down to play them that it's going to feel weird having already completed the main story. Not going to explain why, but those who have finished all cases will probably understand.
I'm contemplating starting again. I'm only 30% in but made the mistake of playing the game when really drunk. I now don't know a chunk of the story and it's putting me off continuing as the story is the main reason I was soo into the game in the first place.
You can always just re-play the cases..?
oh yeh.. Didn't think of that lol.

Are you still drunk, Apps?
For anyone who has finished the game..
Even though the ending is not on par with that of Red Dead, anyone else think that Coles last word 'Goodbye' was more effective than anything else they could've done?
How long is this story mode? I hate games with short stories, so i'm hoping you'll all tell me it's pretty long.
Also, is it better than the GTA games/RDR? Since it's made by Rockstar, it must be good, right?
I did it in about 18 hours, but at the moment I've got 29 hours out of it.
It's not made by R* it's made by Team Bondi and if you go into LA Noire thinking it will be GTA then you'll hate it, it's the complete opposite, it's kind of similar to Red Dead, gameplay wise.

I'm obsessed. Just got into bed because I've got to be up early, but I'm considering pulling an all nighter to play it.
I'm still in Homicide, just starting the case with the women murdered on the train tracks.
Just been on the Rockstar site... would seem our wait for DLC now has a date to aim for:
[Top Story] Details on L.A. Noire Downloadable Content and the Rockstar Pass Coming Next Week
Source (http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/16341/details-on-la-noire-downloadable-content-and-the-rockstar-pass-c.html)
This was posted last Friday... so hopefully we should see some DLC on XBL this Wednesday.
A release for major DLC this week would appear to have added some fuel to the rumours that the PSN Store will be back up this Wednesday. Playstation have announced (well in advance for once) that their online services will be down from 19.00 GMT Tuesday 31st May until Wednesday 1st June 01.00 GMT Source (http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Technical-Help/PSN-Maintenance-Scheduled-Tues-31st-May-19-00-GMT-until/m-p/13080401?WT.mc_id=TSO_EN_103). .. :hmm:
I have however found nothing official from Sony to that end, but it would seem strange that Rockstar would make an announcement with likely thousands of PS3 players being alienated..??
Just a thought.
I hope it's one of the desks they cut from the game.

In the last case of Homicide, I got stuck.
I was searching inside the museum. Wasted nearly 15 minutes. I had to watch a video on Youtube to figure out where I was supposed to go.
Haha is that with the maze?

With the maze I ended up trying the old trick of following one side of the hedge around in order to get to the end, i.e. always moving along the left but ended up back at the beginning.

I owned that maze
Also, ending spoilers:
Now, lets face it, Cole was a bit of a dick, but I was still sad to see him go. I think the fact that you didn't play as him during the last couple of cases makes his death more poignant. I will admit, gripping as the story was, a lot of it did go over my head. When they start going on about fraud and insurance claims and all that malark, my head just explodes. Also, I know Phelps has no friends, but why did Roy have to read his eulogy?? I think there is scope for a sequel, or a similar game. Maybe set in a different city with new characters. The interrogations could be improved, with more emphasis on judging body language etc.
I think I'm gonna try and platinum it. I didn't get any film reels , only one badge, and still have quite a few vehicles to find (seriously, they all look so damn similar!).
Also, how awesome is this song:
L-7l6GNEhCA
So without giving away spoilers, how is everyone doing on the game, or has done on the game?
I'm only around 20% of the way in so far, and while I always find the clues, I tend to be just average at interviews, often scoring 2/3 out of say 4 correct. Sometimes it isn't even a matter of if I think the interviewee is withholding information, I think it's a matter sometimes of whether they're even aware of all the information and instead of 'doubting' them for lying, it can essentially be seen as doubting them due to their ignorance if this makes sense. That's the feeling I get anyway which is making the interview process so much harder.
I was expecting the game to last a little longer though, as I've only been playing a couple of hours or so. I'm guessing the cases become longer over time and more difficult.
Does everyone restart missions, or accept their failed interview processes?

I tend to find most of the clues. I got my trophy for finding 95% of all clues in the end.
With regards to the interviews, you can usually tell if they're not telling the truth, obviously the difficult part is knowing whether it's doubt or a lie. If you have the evidence to prove it's a lie, then call it, but if you don't have the evidence, call it doubt. This is where I think there could be improvements. For example, instead of there being a right answer and two wrong ones, you could employ different techniques to get the answers out of someone. If they're a bit of a prick, you have to be more aggressive, but if they're a decent enough person, but still witholding info, you could be a bit more understanding.
I did restart a couple of times when I COMPLETELY ballsed up an interrogation towards the end of the game.
How many cases have you done? I find that most of the cases tend to take 45mins to 1hr.

I'm probably 80% done. I'm on the first case in Arson. I'm not sure whether I'll continue playing it, with my PS3 showing early signs of it dying.
I was bad in the interview process, until I bothered to read the game manual. It says those who are not telling the truth tend to avoid eye contact. Since then, I usually get 3/4 it right. I once got 0/3 though.

I have to say though, I am absolutely loving the game so far. It really is brilliant, and from what I've seen and experienced, I'd undoubtedly say it's one of the most atmospheric and enjoyale games I've ever played. If I can make it through the whole story while still appreciating every moment like currently, then I may have to dip in and buy some DLC, which I very rarely do.
I've completed the game, got about 86% completion so far. Done all the street crimes, been to all the landmarks, 50 odd vehicles so far and just started getting the film reels.
Downloaded the two new cases but I'm not starting them until I've got 100% on the main game.

I've risked my PS3 and managed to complete it. The game get interesting after Homicide, which is possible the worst one. I had a feeling that it was done by a serial killer during the dude from Heroes was in it. Which is why I didn't want to charge him. Yet, I have no other choice.
Another thing that I dislike is that you can't skip the cutscene when you're making a call to the operator. It's really annoying!
Also, due to the mostly unskipable cutscenes, it definitely puts me off from replaying some cases, so replay value is little.

They are quite well hidden, generally off the beaten track where you are unlikely to go. I've got ~20 of them, all in the Hollywood area... just a hint.
If you want a guide to find them then I can point you in the direction of one... it will remove the pain of finding them, just as long as you don't mind feeling dirty for cheating...
This is such a difficult game.
I'm in Homocide now, and I've just did The Golden Butterfly case (Belmont High School and the golden butterfly broach etc), and I found 12/12 clues and got 13/15 questions correct, along with $0 vehicle damage, injuries or city damage, and the commissioner still raped me and said I was a bag of shite, with my case being given 3 stars. I opted not to charge Eli Rooney the child rapist, and charged the husband for the murder of his wife getting just one question incorrect in the interrogation rooms (with the husband).
I'm not sure yet as I've just this minute finished the case but from what the commissioner said, I think I may have been sent back to work the streets. I obviously don't quite understand this game just yet.
Any help is obviously appreciated.
EDIT: Oh, the next case has just started and the commissioner is now saying I've been doing an excellent job.

It definitely is. And in regards to your spoiler question, that was about politics and what they wanted to portray to the press.
I think I'm doing alright in regards to questionings, but I sometimes feel that there are cases where you will always get the answer wrong. For example:
Out of curiosity, I did the questioning of Ottie 4 times and selected all three options (twice for Lie). I was wrong everytime. I didn't miss out any evidence, according to the case summary, but perhaps I did something in the wrong order? I went to Ottie before I went to Jermaine Jones, if that makes a differece. If there are futile outcomes, then that would be annoying.
Intriguing DF. I fucked one interrogation up badly so I'm not ashamed to say I restarted it. Anyway, the first time when I got it wrong I chose Lie for one response. This was apparently wrong, so for the next I opted for Doubt for the very same question and it was considered correct, yet the response the suspect gave was exactly the same both times.
I can see so much going wrong during interrogations if this is a trend.
I still love the game though, but it may be a bit too complex for it's own good at times.
Sometimes it feels like the truth, doubt or lie options are to linear and scripted. If they make a second game it should have multiple endings and each choice you make really does have an effect on the game, as currently it's either you get it wrong or right and nothing really happens.

Just completed homicide. I'm really annoyed with the Quarter Moon Murders as I went to the church for the first clue! Stupid wild goose chase. That's mission's pretty much a nailed on 5* as long as you don't go crazy crashing into stuff but I just make Rusty drive around to avoid injuries and damage. Had to laugh at that freak that Rusty beat up at the railyard for kissing a dead woman.

Just found out an interesting (or uninteresting.... depending on how you look at it) tidbit: The bloke who voices the boxer, Albert Hammond, also voiced the character Mark Hammond in the ps2 game The Getaway. The studio founder of Team Bondi, also worked on that game. A nice little reference there.
