Hello,
I have noticed that some people in England have WE6:Final Evolution, and I was wondering how they are able to play it, as it is a Japanese import.
I think, that you need to have your PlayStation 2 chipped, then import the game directly from Japan, however I am not sure.
If anyone has any info on this I would be grateful if they would reply to this thread. Also if anyone knows where I can get my PS2 chipped and for how much, could they please reply!
Thanks a lot.

Yep, your absolutely right.
To play WE6:fe, you need to have a chipped PS2 (or a japanese PS2) and a copy of the game which is only available in japanese form at the moment (unless you get a copy that is 'patched').
Most internet games shops that sell imports have WE6:fe for sale, but it is expensive as with most imports. As for getting your 'station chipped, it is best to check out the internet and find a place that does it locally. You live in London, so this shouldn't be a problem, otherwise you'll have to shell out for postage or a courier. I think the best chip available at the moment is called 'Messiah' (?) and this will allow you to play imports. This does however mean that your warranty is null and void.
Hope this helps....:)
Yep just to add...3 methods for playing them, knife swap trick ( requires and AR2, only loads backups I think, doesn't void warranty), flip lid/top/cover (loads everything, requires magic swap disk, void warranty, about £20-40) and mod chips messiah 2 and magic 3 are the top 2 at the moment (messiah 2 boots everything, cdr, dvdr, original imports even without any swap disks, void warranty, pricing varies).

Smith_Gamer
17-04-2003, 19:55
Yeah! thats all good!!!!! Basically This chip is inserted between the fibre optics! wire which creates the picture from the lense!
And the coreline lead which is tucked under the most of the wiring!
Labour cost roughly £10
Chip varies between £12-25 depending on the quality of the chip you want inserted!

Smith_Gamer

Personally we do not advise to use royal mail they dont particularly handle the product very well any courier would do a better job!

You can buy an original from
www.goblindirect.com
No you can't buy a patched version or speak of such as it is warez and naughty so will get you in trouble.

I have a question: can i play a patched game without getting my ps2 chipped, using "Magic Slide" instead??? Or must I get a bootchip??? Cheers
is it hard to fit the chip into the ps2??
No, unless you are an expert in soldiering.
It is not hard but you need to be very careful as it is VERY easy to do it wrongly and damage your console, I wouldn't recommend it to do it yourself.
H_A_N_S_E_N you can get slide card with swap magic disks to play patched games (backups and imports as well).
The new generation chips are very reliable and stable, however you have to follow some rules, otherwise you can throw your PS2 away after a few months, even if you have the best chip in it.
Be sure that you get a high quality chip like DMS, Matrix or the Sniper, no "no-name" stuff, and don´t install it on your own, like Milosh said, unless you´re an expert in soldering and PS2 technology, use high quality CDRs and DVDRs only, like Verbatim or Sony, burn not faster than 8x, the burning speed is not only important for the PS2 but also for your patched game, if you burn at max. speed it might not work properly.

My ps2 has seriously started dying so I'm considering buying a pre-chipped ps2. how much should i expect to pay? psxservices is down for a bit so where's the best place to look? preferably somewhere that has been recommended from experience.
also, how long after it's release will we8 see an english language patch available?
i guess it costs about 270 pounds

I just found a silver ps2 with a fitted matrix chip for £199.99 which seems very reasonable to me.
yeah ive just ordered my chipped ps2 from www.gameworlddirect.com got it for £187.99 which i thought was a good price.Cant wait to play we8 going to b quality!!
The messiah is very reliable, you picked yourself up a good deal. What is the warranty and that from that site>
so sdoes anyone now where to get a ps2 chipped in ipswich and how much it will be cos my mum came home the other day with WE7 and i really want to play it
www.thebarras.co.uk - Playstation 2 with Matrix infitity chip £160 - It is the newer V9/V10 consoles. However, no warranty inclined.
Bah ? No warranty ? 160 £, I guess that´s about 250 Euro, that´s what I´ve paid for my new console. But with 2 year warranty, not only for the chip but for the whole console.

the barras site says he doesn't chip PS2s any more.
Oh Damn!!! I dont need it anyway, HDLoader and GUI Dump is decent
so can you just take a ps2 somewhere to get it chipped or do you have to pay for a new one?
Yeah, it is illegal now everybody. Here is the court case: http://www.courtservice.gov.uk/judgmentsfiles/j2680/sony-v-ball.htm

Milosh do you know where to get this equipment, has anyone used it before?
