I wasn't sure if there was a thread on this, and if there isn't I thought one was needed whereby we could discuss all things electronica. Or people could generally give people the heads up on any decent new releases etc.

I'm currently listening to a bit of this -

Which inspired the thread.

It would be interesting to know what people's favourite albums and artists are.

I'm a real big Kraftwerk fan. Also like New Order, Koop, Tangerine Dream, Röyksopp, DJ Shadow, Jean-Michel Jarre, Aphex Twin to different extents, I'm still quite new to the genre. In my youth days (when I was <10) I was also quite acquainted to the Prodigy, might go back to that some time.

I'm a big fan of Javelin, I saw them last year. They were supporting Yeasayer. Very funky sound:

I'm a Trance fan myself, I mean thats mostly what you hear here in NYC, however I do enjoy the Balearic genre (which I guess is a sub genre of Electronica?) artists like DJ Shah and The Signalrunners come to mind. Be sure to listen to the track at the bottom.

Damn, I thought electronica died out in the early 90's! Good to see it still goes in some form.

Always been a closet JMJ fan (mainly as I would be ostracised by my metalhead clanfolk if they realised!) Röyksopp, Kraftwerk and Vangelis were the more acceptable face along with some of the early prog bands. I' don't get what passes for electronica these days though... I thought it was now house, or some such other aberration.

The only thing even vaguely recent I have that fits the traditional genre is Pornophonique's album 8 Bit Largerfeuer.

Sad Robot, from said album...

I've been listening to quite a bit of The Crystal Castles stuff over the last year. Hearing Celestica on PES2011 though put me off listening to them for a while. Hearing it over and over on a bloody computer game ruined it for me.

A trip back to the Fat of the Land proved enjoyable.

The Prodigy (at least earlier in their career), Royksopp and Kraftwerk are really good, but I get a spontaneous psoriasis attack when I listen to trance or that dance-crap fad that every other artist seems to be dabbling into.

Awesome thread. Personally I'm a fan of the breakbeat from the early Crystal Method albums they released. Shame they aren't making any more of that kind of music.

I've always loved their videos. Now that I heard Swoon in the new PES I'm revisiting a lot of their tracks.

I see both Autechre and The Knife have new releases out around March next year.

Also saw Orbital the other week which was fucking amazing.
