I officially dont like PLG. Since he has came here he has bought useless players...well Clement is half decent and Sionko at times..but the rest of them are utter shit. He doesnt have a clue about the scottish game, hence the crap results, i mean come on, we've lost 20 points to teams in the bottom half of the table. Pathetic!
Now with Barry being stripped of what he deserves, he is digging his own grave. The fans will stand by Barry no doubt, he has done nothing wrong, all he has done is put his heart and soul into playing for Rangers this season, he has fighting spirit in him, which i may add is probably the only one. He has every right to be in that team, i just feel PLG has a grudge against him, which started earlier on in the season and now he wants him out. Screw Paul Le Guen, fuck his revolution, i have no faith in him now.
Why PLG must stay:
Post made on FF but I must say that I agree with him entirely.Stopped reading after the bullshit part about us.
He's off :D!!! Apparently he wanted to resign in September, prick. Hope we get Smith and Coisty as his assistant and I hope to god that Davies doesn't take charge.

I heard he wanted to leave for PSG. If this is the case i think he's a prick, not judging right now though, but that would be rather shite.
Hmm, i'm rather surprised he left through 'mutual agreement'. I thought he would have stuck it out and tryed to do his best at Rangers, but obviously not. None the less i'm glad he's gone, great coach and that shiznet but he had no ambition, no fire in his belly to take Rangers further, what we need is a Walter Smith and an Ally McCoist to take the Gers further, someone who cares deeply for this club.
Wigan defender Andy Webster is having a medical at Rangers ahead of a loan move to Ibrox.
Webster has failed to settle at Wigan since his protracted switch from Hearts earlier this season.
The 24-year-old has made just four starts for Wigan and he has recently dropped down the pecking order at The JJB Stadium.
Latics boss Paul Jewell is willing to loan out Webster having brought in Andreas Granqvist to bolster his defence this month.
Webster is expected to sign a loan deal until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move.
Rangers caretaker manager Ian Durrant believes Webster will be a good addition to the squad if he successfully comes through his medical.
"He is going through a medical just now and if it all goes through he will be a great acquisition for the club."
Hmmm.......

I'm excited to be honest. He knows the Scottish game well, should be able to cope with the pressure of being one of the key players in our backline. Maybe now we wont leak as much goals, though depending on who he teams up with in central defence. Hope all goes well for Webster, and at the end of it we get him on a permanent basis.
He looked shite at Wigan, hopefully with some match practice he will be a lot better. I suppose anything is better than the back 4 we have at the moment.
As I said in the other thread, Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond is (apparently) going into his own pocket to launch a bid for Thomson and Brown. Hope this is alot of shite though as I would love to see Brown at Ibrox, not really botherd about Thomson though.
EDIT: Webster out for 4 weeks with ligament damage :crymore:

Yeah i seen that, blocked a shot in training. Such a shame.:(
I'd love to see Thomson and Brown, maybe Thomson a bit more as i feel him and Barry could rule in the midfield together. It would be a great scottish partnership.
Yeah, agreed.. Still wouldn't mind Brown though :D!

Personally from what I saw Barry (and many others) need to have a good look at themselves...they were a fucking disgrace to Rangers Football Club and getting beat from a team who are bottom of the league! it just isnt good enough! I know Durrants only Caretaker Boss just now but cmon wtf were his tactics all about! Am I also the only one who notices just how bad Charlie Adam actually is? the guy cant do anything! EVERY corner he hits is either overhit or underhit-why cant a professional footballer just put a nice ball into the box! bring back Walter Smith :D

The talentless defending cost you in the first half. There were more rangers fans than home fans there and they did get behind you once you got the second but after the headed shot against the bar you didn't do much after that

Yea just read it there on bbc about Smith + McCoist :D a lot of Celtic fans were writing in saying about how they'll make NO difference at all and that Scotland won't miss them lol! one guy said that hes not done Scotland any favours because he doesnt know any good tactics and that he welcomes in George Burley to the job!
Anyone else heard anything about Kris Boyd being sacked by Rangers?! I heard one of the doctors at Rangers signed a sick line for him because he missed training-because he had a hangover and allegedly took cocaine! sure hope its not true.

There was rumours that Walter Smith will be given £8million to spend on players in January...if it's true (which I doubt) who do you think he should buy with that? do you think he should buy 1/2 great players, or 3/4 good players?
I think he should go for Gordon seeing as Hearts have already signed 2 goalkeepers.

I take it you haven't seen today's episode of that clown and I also remember him throwing it into his own net at Celtic Park.

Why would we want Gordon when we have McGregor? Makes no sense and would be throwing away money.
McGregor, for me is not commanding enough for a gk, he is poor at high balls, his only strength is shot stopping, valuable I know, but we do really need a commanding GK with decent ariel ability.
And 50, I didn't watch todays game, what happend?

To be honest, i thought the game deserved to be a draw, but i'm not complaining about the result. Celtic were all over us in the first half and should have scored, to bad they had Kenny Miller upfront for those two great chances. We hit them back in the second half though, scored a peach of a goal and could have scored more.

I think we will see a repeat of the 1-1 draw at Ibrox. It's gonna be a tough game. Sebo to start!
I'm going for 1-0 to us, Sebo should start up front with Novo, with Sionko and Burke on the wings as Charlie Adam is pure pish. Also, when is Stevie Smith back? The sooner the better.

Yeah, we need pace upfront, not a tree like Kris Boyd. Fair enough he can bang them in, in the Spl, but he's yet to prove he can do it on the European Stage. Adam's too slow to be a winger, but i'd keep him there the now as i don't rate Sionko either. We better be going a 4-4-2 tonight seeing as barry is suspended, Thomson and Hemdani in the middle.
I think Stevie Smith is out 'till next season, shame as Murray is pish at left back, has no pace what so ever. All he does is try and run on the wing and win a throw in. :(

Keep McGregor, Weir, maybe Hutton, Hemdani, Novo and Sebo. The rest can walk on.
Seriously though, the lack of decent players in our team is outragous. We don't have any decent left sided players. We have no dominant striker upfront (apart from Sebo obviously) who will score goals in all competitions. Our football is boring, it's always a case of punt the ball up the park and hope the striker holds it up, for about 5 minutes until the rest of the team can actually be bothered getting up the park and supporting.
Rangers are so frustrating!
Uefa wont tell us what their decision is regarding our fine/ban "for weeks". Typical fucking Uefa being arse holes. I think theres a lot worse being chanted than "fuck the pope and the IRA" at football games!
I heard Roy Carroll and Derek Stillie are linked with us. Are we that desperate? Did we get relagated? The last thing we need is a 34 year old keeper from Dundee Utd and/or a Goalkeeper that makes Rab Douglas look like Petr Chech!
Rant over.

What a dire game at the weekend. I thought we had put all this behind us but perhaps not. The atmosphere was flat as was the performance and I expected more. Shame Big Dado could not have played one last time but that just was not to be. We gave him and Stefan a good send off although not on par with the previous ones for the likes of Albertz and Tugay. Moreover Gavin Rae just ruined the whole day coming out for his farewell. With all due respect a guy that has been a diasater and should never have even played for us should not be getting a good cheer and farewell. I will be glad to see the back of him.
In terms of the season it has been shit although alot better since Walter came back.
Transfer Talk
There is some very serious talk mounting that Rangers are going to pull out all the stops to sign Alan Smith in the summer either on loan or via a permanent deal. They see him as an ideal signing and as he tends to be a fringe player at United he could be tempted to move on. With United also stepping up their interest in Eto'o that will leave Smith further down the pecking over. Moreover he is a pretty big Rangers fan and has followed them since he was a kid.
I really hope we can lure him here, even on loan but realistic there is no chance that will happen. His workrate is fantastic and he would do a great job and be an instant hero but we just are not big enough or good enough for him now. This is a pipe dream.
Robbie Fowler to Rangers is also a real possibility now that Liverpool have confirmed that his contract is not being renewed. Fowler has never hidden his admiration for Rangers and hopefully him pulling on the Gers shirt again may become a reality. Say what you like about the man but in his day he was awesome. He may not be the same player he once was and not have the fitness levels to play for a top premiership side challanging for the title but I am sure he could do us a turn and score some goals up here. After all he is a natural goalscorer.

Lets kick start this thread then lads. I myself will need to post in here more often and hopefully 50, Janitor and others follow suit. I personally am still not impressed with the current squad and we need to get our finger out or it will be another trophyless season. The summer signings are mediocre at best.
Hopefully Cuéllar will be a good addition and bolster the defence but as for Broadfoot, Gow, and Smith, well they will be fringe players in my eyes. Darcheville has a ton to prove as I suspect he is just here for the paycheck. Beasley is another one I am not sure on yet but will refrain from comment until I see him perform.
And today we snapped up Roy Carroll which I still don't know what to make off. My first instinct is pathetic but time will tell. ;)
Get the cash book out Murray and get signing Naismith and some much need quality.

I'm unsure about Smiths signings to be honest.
Fair enough we've brought in a couple of players who are known: Beasley + Darcheville, but already Darcheville is talking about his retirement plans of moving back to France to buy a vinyard and all this other shite.
BUt signings like Broadfoot, Gow, G.Smith are very questionable, I mean how often are they gonna actually play?! I hope to fuck that Charlie Adam has lost some weight/gained some pace in pre season because hes an overweight fat bastard who cant run.

Likewise mate, he has to lay off the monster munch and buckfast and get a grip. By all accounts though thats not the case as my mate Roy who is a similar age to Adam was over in Tenerife with a group of lads and bumped into Charlie. They went to a pub and proceed to knock back the bevies. They all took turns buying rounds including Charlie and got smashed. Hopefully Walter made him work it off when he returned.
I always got the impression he was a bit of a dick but my mate informed me he was down to earth, easy going and a real good guy.

The main signing that I have to question is Jean-Claude Darcheville. I've seen pictures of him and he looks like one fat bastard. I actually quite like the signing of Gow. I've seen him a couple of times for Falkirk and I quite like him. Carlos Cuellar sounds like a good, solid defender. I'm still unsure about DaMarcus Beasley. He is fairly known but I remember reading that he isn't that good. I haven't seen much of him so time will tell.
I'm not bothered about Graeme Smith as he will probably be a back up keeper with possible high hopes aswell as Lee Robinson being out on loan. And then there is Roy Carroll... The only thing that bothers me about this is that we are known to have good or great keepers and his blunders are well known, particularly the one against Spurs. Still, I think McGregor will be first team.
Some signings I'm feeling a bit iffy but others I'm delighted but I'm still feeling slightly confident about next season (After last season I learned not to be too confident). League wise, I think we could do good with Walter Smith in charge, we looked the better out of the Old Firm. I would like to do good in Europe aswell but I wouldn't get my hopes up on that side with Walter. Besides, the league is a must.
The main signing that I have to question is Jean-Claude Darcheville. I've seen pictures of him and he looks like one fat bastard.
You'll be fairly surprised on how effective he is with the ball. He does look very fat but is very powerful and scores goals regularly.. until he got injured. :S

Also, yesterday was a special day for one person. John Fleck, aged 15 made his debut for the first team. Congratulations Fleck. I really can't wait to see this guy in first team although that won't be this season. He's been touted as the next big thing for awhile and now we are getting close to seeing him in action. Now that he is almost 16 I'll be able to watch him in reserve games.
The thought of this lad playing for Rangers just gets me excited.
I hope the wee lad does well, fuck me I feel old now that hes younger than me.
Also good to see McCulloch getting on the scoresheet today. I wasn't too excited about signing him after missing out on Faubert but I suppose having someone that knows what it means to play for us is equally important.

Well done to him and team. It may have only been a friendly but it is still good to get a good result over big teams regardless of how competitive the match is and judging from what I said in my last post, the match sounded pretty competitive for a friendly game.

Walter Smith - "Do you want to talk about a sports programme that's got no sport in it." ie Radio Clyde.

Fucking excellent game!!
Anyone else go? Where were you guys sitting?
I was rather optimistic about tonight at the start of the game, the 4-5-1 formation didn't seem too positive but seemed to work out ok. I thought we lacked width during the first half though, you could see that when Darcheville was coming out left and right to support.
Second half though was simply phenominal, from when they scored the first we just took control of the game and showed Stuttgart what we can do at Ibrox. Alan Hutton was sheer quality, seems to be turning out to be quite the full back now, thank god. Can't wait for Barça!!:D
They had us for the first 25 and the last 10 but we controlled the rest of the game. Their goal was against the run of play and very flukey although its weird how they went up last time at Ibrox and we came back and the same happened again. Thought Hutton and JCD in particular were excellent, Adam didn't do much apart from a McFadden effort and his goal. Whittaker was useless, no idea why we played him because he looks very unexperienced. The rest of the team played well but I'd like to see Naismith and Gow getting a chance at the weekend as well as a Hemdani-Barry midfield for the SPL.

Who is Hutton, he looks very good from the highlights
Alan Hutton is a young right back who came through our youth system. He was quite highly rated when he first came into the team a few years ago but suffered a leg break against Kilmarnock and that put him out for almost a year. He has struggled quite a bit since coming back from his injury and often was the scapegoat for bad results/poor goals but since Walter Smith has taken over again, Hutton is now playing far better than he did prior to his injury. He is really good at speeding down the right and getting crosses in or taking on players himself as he did against Stuttgart.
Now back to what I was going to say.

Time to give this thread a little bump. :)
2 big games coming. Old Firm this Saturday and I have the next 3 days off from work so hopefully it will be a good weekend. :) My dad is flying up from London and we're going to the game, anyone else?
I'll also be going to the Barcelona game with my cousin next week. Hopefully these will be games to remember. For the first time, I am actually anticipating another game more than the Old Firm. :D
Can't wait for Barcelona now. ;)
I'd love to see Cosuin and Darcheville up front together although I doubt Barca would be the game to try that in.Maybe the next home SPL game, but with so much power I think they'd just run defences over.

Two words mate, Kris Boyd. Has great ability as a striker but I've saw Sloths cover more distance in 90 minutes that what this guy has! On that note, he is supposed to be deeply unhappy at not being first choice and has asked his agent to find him a new club in January. It would be a blow as I'd like to see us keep our Scottish players but you can't really blame him can you :(?

No. What is sad is that half arsed attempt last Wednesday. Yesterday wasn't much better, but we got the win we needed and we're now in a good position in the league. Agree with you about Barry though, he was very unlucky down at Blackburn with injuries etc. As for Celtic, Calley done us a big favour in beating them today and I must say, their defence is absolutely terrible and I'm looking forward to playing them on January 2nd.

Nothing against Phil O'Donnell and may he rest in piece but I really don't see why Celtic would still be in shock from the incident. I think only one player in the Celtic team who had actually played in the same team as him - Scott McDonald. I know O'Donnell use to play for Celtic but he wasn't exactly the best player for them and I'm sure if the same happened to Russell Latapy, Rangers wouldn't be asking for their games to get postponed. I could understand Motherwell's games being postponed as it would have definitely have a huge effect on them but I just think Celtic are bottling it right now.

If Alan does indeed decide he wants to go we should try and arrange some sort of cash/loan deal. We let Hutton go but only in return for the cash plus Bale on loan. Both clubs benefit and young Gareth gets a run out every week and perhaps even European experience if he was to come back next year.
It's not like he is playing every game presently.
David Murray and Daniel Levy are good friends as Levy used to be a director of Rangers so I would expect him to try and push Hutton towards Spurs if he really wants the money.
How much Walter will actually see of it is another story.

Yet another fucking game called off. I think the SFA will be regretting for postponing that Old Firm match as the game now has to be pushed further back so we can play our cup tie on that date. Not forgetting we still have to play against St. Mirren and Gretna and European matches during the week is going to give them less options for those games to fit in.

Probably back up as Ehioghu is out. As for the Icelandic kid, I think it won't work for him even if he signs a contract. Quite a few foreign kids have came and are suppose to develop into good players yet players like Fetai, N'Guessan, Santala, Kalenga and Namouchi (Although the latter actually featured quite often) and I hope it doesn't happen to van den Broeck, Furman, Bendiksen, Efrem and Cherif but I wouldn't get my hopes up about them. Well, maybe Furman as he is supposedly doing really well in reserves.

I think Webster has only played one or two games at most, hes been injured the rest of the time but apparently coming back in the next 2 weeks. Played okay in the games he did feature although I think it was Gretna at home so he wasn't really tested.
McCulloch has been pretty poor lately, hes a good squad player and always gives 100% but hes not very technically gifted and whenever we play him, we usually play the long ball. He doesn't have much pace either. I don't mind having him but £2.25m was daylight robbery in my opinion, should have been more like £1m. We really shouldn't buy from the Premiership because its a ridiculous market.

I think Webster is more than likely to become a permanent player if he gets a good run. I don't think we would have extended his loan deal for a player who has barely kicked a ball for us, although scored in his only game so far so kudos to him. Anyway, Webster as well as Smith have been declared fit for first team action so we might end up seeing them both soon. I think McCulloch is alright but we definitely payed too much for him. I do prefer him to Charlie Adam on the left but would pick DaMarcus Beasley over them both if he was fit.
Anyway, despite playing 2 games a week, it looks like our squad is still looking strong. We have most of our first-team players fit now with the exceptions of Jean-Claude Darcheville - which I don't think he will be out for long and DaMarcus Beasley, who I won't expect to see for the rest of the season. Despite going 1-0 down to Aberdeen, the performance was very good. Particularly in the second half with some great passing but the final pass would just be an inch or 2 too far. Impressive display though. Steve Davis is on some form, hope we get this guy on a permanent deal because again today he was outstanding in midfield.
Unlucky Nikos that you lost. I phoned my dad at half-time to say how shite we were playing and that we would be lucky to get something - and we were lucky. That was a cracking result, can't believe McCulloch didn't score though but it was some tackle from Naldo who was extremely lucky to be on the pitch. Adam was puffing out his arse after half time. We should have brought Novo on to have a real go at them but as long as we don't fuck up too much in Bremen we should be okay.

Over the moon. In all honesty, we looked the better team all night. Even though the first half was shite, we still threatened their goal more so than they did to us. Even after going down, I don't think Bremen had many - if any shots at goal in the second half. The first half was boring but the second we were all over them. McCulloch should have scored. He should have just stuck his leg out at the ball but he was too cautious of Naldo closing him down. Still, I would have take 1-0 or even a 0-0 going into Bremen so I'll more than happily take a 2-0. Before this game I had doubts of Rangers getting any further in the UEFA Cup but known that he have a good advantage going into the second leg. If we get to the Quarter-Final's then I reckon it is any mans game.
We didn't play to our best today at all but we were pretty knackered after Thursday, Dundee Utd played well and no doubt we'll be hearing non stop about that penalty with no mention of JCD's disallowed goal and wrong offside. Anyway, we did the job in the end and thats what counts. World Record, 108 and still counting...

Good win for us today. Kevin Thomson scored his first goal for the club and probably won't score another as important as this goal. Well done to him. He has played well despite starting off pretty mediocre, he has been improving slowly and at times being the better man over Barry Ferguson. I hope his injury is nothing too serious since we have another important game against Sporting Lisbon in a few days. Also well done to Allan McGregor for that fine save which breaks the record for the most Old Firm matches without conceding a goal. Now we have one hand on the League, 6 fingers on the Scottish Cup and pinky on the UEFA Cup.

Classic Rangers today, soak up the pressure, deliver sucker punch and then play the game out. I had a feeling Thommo would get a goal, I posted it on FF twice. I'll try and bump the thread if I can find it. No doubt the media will focus on Thommo looking for a foul and getting himself injured but they can get to fuck. The phone ins were class today with Timplosion Part I and if we beat Dundee Utd and then them at the Piggery we can focus on the UEFA Cup.
Old Firm wins, cannae beat them. :D
However Dundee Utd will be really tough off the back of Sporting so I hope we can dig in and get 3 very important points.

Aye I will be Ibrox at Wednesday. Agreed that Dundee Utd will be tough. They are having a good season and put in a few good performances against us including the CIS Cup final which admittedly, we were not the best team in that match. Sporting will be a bit of a challenge but I am a bit confident now after that Werder Bremen result, and I hate being confident going into these matches. Anyway, the run in to the season is looking very bright for us.

To watch the Arsenal game in Bar72?
I don't know why but I thought the game was on the 2nd April. Just in case you are wondering, yes I did find out the game was on the THURSDAY - thus I did not miss it.
The game wasn't the best. The only positive about the game was that we played some attacking football and limited Sporting to few chances but the likes of Steve Davis didn't play to their best. Most of the time he couldn't be the first man and his crossing was pretty poor as well. Kirk Broadfoot and Brahim Hemdani were getting caught in possession as well which I would expect better from Hemdani.
The reason we were dire is because we were so knackered and nobody was making runs or space for anyone else. After Mothwerwell's game today, tommorow is so vital. A win for us, Motherwell beat the tims next week and it sets us up to win it at the Stade de Gadd. :)

Just because you don't like their style, it doesn't mean they don't deserve it. They, like Greece, don't have the quality to match their opponents, so they sit back, get men behind the ball and base their performance on organisation and teamwork.
Anyway, Italian sides twenty or thirty years ago were famous for playing defensive football, just as Rangers have been doing.

I agree. If anything, you could say Fiorentina did not deserve to go through because they never took their chances or because their tactics didn't work as well as Rangers'.

First of all, we've been on 9 away trips this season and there hasn't been a single arrest so the animals thing is sensationalised.
I will admit we carried luck, even our manager does but if nobody can score against us, we're not exactly going to walk it into the net for them. If you look at the money we get from TV rights and the shambles that we were 15 months ago, we've build up a solid team that plays to our strengths. Yes we would like to play fancy, attacking football but we've only just started to rebuild. We've come a long way from losing to the likes of St Johnstone and Dunfermeline to competing in a European final.
Novo is a Catholic yes but why that matters I have no idea? I thought we lived in a non secterian country now? If he loves the club I don't give a shite what nationality, race or religion he is. He is also a grown adult so if he wants stars on his arm I don't see the problem.
You could say we shouldn't have got past any of the teams we've played in Europe this season yet here we are. I could argue that you lot shouldn't have beaten AC Milan but you still did, thats football.
Don't be fooled into thinking Bayern are one of the "best" teams about. They have struggled this season against the likes of Bolton, Abredeen and Anderlecht.
Oh and on the co-efficient, you're very welcome. I think Rangers have contributed more to it than Celtic in 13 of the past 17 seasons. If we win the UEFA Cup, Scotland will have the 4th best coefficient of any country in Europe and Rangers may even make Pot 2 for next seasons CL.
I'm not a fan of either club, mainly due to the disgraceful behaviour of Celtic fans with their so called greatest support in the world the last time they were down here, or Rangers fans, due to stomping the shite out of my cousin after a match against Aberdeen. But when Rangers came down here in pre-season in 2004, their behaviour was immaculate, the banter was brilliant between both sets of fans, but Celtic fans to me are absolute scum.

Celtic without a shadow of a doubt.
Celtic, for example, went all out against Barcelona and were 2-1 up at half time. Rangers would never have done that.
Admittedly, there have been a couple of times Rangers have impressed me, namely against Lyon. But that's a rarity.

These are the only parts of your post that concern my point so I hope you'll not mind the trim I gave the quote.
From a semi-neutral point of view, I still found the game entertaining against Fiorentina. You point out that no-one could score against Rangers, whether it's through design or more blind luck with the amount of bodies you got behind the ball it's going to be difficult for any team to score. Every time you even looked like opening the game up Fiorentina ripped you open and should have done better, then you closed the game back up.
I feel sorry for whichever club is foolish enough to pay a rather large sum for Carlos Cuellar, because as soon as he plays in a team that doesn't have pure defense as their main objective he will not look half the player he does at Rangers. I'm not saying he's bad, but he's not the spectacular centre-back some Rangers fans and pundits would have you believe.
Personally, although it is, in some cases, less enjoyable to watch, I have no issue with the way Rangers (or for that matter Manchester United) played, it seems to be the new tactic for British teams. What I do disagree with, which I pointed out in the Fiorentina thread, is the new found acceptance for 'Catenaccio'. When Italian teams use the tactic, they are dubbed cynical, boring and typical Italians. Now when Manchester United, Liverpool and Rangers use it, it is labelled as a wonderful tactical victory or an heroic defensive performance.
I aim this more at Rangers than Manchester United, mainly due to the smaller technical gap and apparent comfortable performance from United. Rangers however were akin to a boxer, drapped across the ropes hoping for dear life that their far superior opponents wouldn't manage to quite land the killer blow. It might be me but there's little 'heroic' about that.
Rangers do however have to do what's best for them, and sadly this has proven to be their best tactic. I therefore can't blame them for using it, as to do otherwise would be foolish. While you've done well to get there and should be happy you're in final, I wouldn't be too jubilant. Not until you can get there purely on merit, then I'd be truly happy. Rangers might be 'rebuilding', but don't get carried away, Greece won Euro 2004 with the very same tactics you've used here. How many of us expect them to do it again this year?
I'm not saying that the method was wrong, but call a spade a spade. This Rangers side are one of the worst footballing teams to reach the final, there's nothing glorious about their run... it's just bloody hopeful.

See, I'm a believer in playing to your strengths. If Rangers can't beat Fiorentina by playing football, then they're going to have to defend like warriors and out-fight and battle Fiorentina for every ball.
I've no problem with a team playing on the backfoot, as it's all part of the tactical setup. Of course you'd be upset if you were a Fiorentina fan, but you can't blame Rangers for setting up to kill the game off as it just makes sense.

I'll be the first to admit we're nowhere near the best team in Britain let alone the world. Can't see how you would consider the blue half being more bigotted than the other, unless you buy into the whole Celtic are "political" opposed to secterian which I don't for one second.
Oh and on Barcelona we took 25,000 fans where they just weren't prepared. There was no toilets and none of the bars would let any Rangers fans use theirs so aye they pissed in the street. What else were they going to do? I heard stories of the McDonalds queue being 50 people long but the queue for the toilet was over 500. If we had "ran riot" I would expect at least 50 arrests but there wasn't even one so I think you've bought into the media spin.
I feel this article tells the real story in my opinion but then again you could argue that he could just be a Rangers fan:
http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/confessionsofacorrespondent/archive/2008/03/05/bhoys-fans-benefit-from-rangers-visit-to-catalonia.aspx
On Original?'s point of the media perspective, theres nothing I can do about that. The media are all to happy to jump on our bandwagon but if we lose they'll drop us straight away. Rangers weren't even on the headlines of Sky Sports News yesterday at 5pm where they were still fawning over the Chelsea-Liverpool game. I would love if the media didn't talk up 66 and tell us how great England are at every opportunity but the matter is that they do. They'll always have a cheap dig at Italian football and I agree that Fiorentina would have been slated for doing the same as us.
Rangers being one of the worst teams to reach the final is just an opinion. Looking at previous finalists we see the likes of Espanyol, Middlesbrough, Celtic and Alaves. None of these teams are anywhere near the pinnacle of European football yet they all still made it. It would be very easy for UEFA to make the UEFA Cup a more prestigious trophy but the amount of money they make from the Champions League just means the big clubs get richer and the small ones get poorer.
I slated Greece at Euro 2004 quite a bit but when I look back on it, if that was Scotland I wouldn't have given a shite. Its the same here, its very easy to slag off other teams but when its your own you're just happy to be there.
Chelsea-Rangers Super Cup Mat? I think we'd definitely be up for that. ;)

It is a fantastic achievement with the squad they've got. To get this far on such a limited budget is a feat in it self. Since Walter has returned things have picked up after the disastrous time under Paul Le Guen. You can knock there football all you want but they've been labeled underdogs in each round yet through hard work and determination have progressed through. The footballs not pretty but there at the process of rebuilding the team and I'm proud that they are able to grind out results. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot Celtic fans would be delighted.
I'll openly admit Rangers have had sectarian issues and fan trouble away from home but I cringe when hearing Celtic fans spew their poison about how they are the greatest fans in the world and the problem is only caused by the blue half of Glasgow.
These so called best fans in the world stood outside a hotel in Manchester which had previously been bombed by the Provisional IRA and began chanting pro IRA slogans. These fans also continue to sing the following in regards to Nacho Novo:
"I hope you die in your sleep Nacho Novo
I hope you die in your sleep i pray
I hope you die in your sleep Nacho Novo
With a bullet from the IRA"
These same fans also threw a coin at the Rangers doctor the other week and moreover, when they went to Seville a few planes had to divert on route for emergency landings due to the trouble on board.
There was also Several accounts of sectarian chanting in Barcelona.
Perhaps if the Celtic fans tried to get their own house in order instead of criticizing us maybe they could eradicate some of the issues surrounding their club.

Zenit went into the last fixture already played their 4 games hoping that AZ would drop points to the already qualified Everton - Which they did. They haven't got off to the best start domestically but that probably won't have that much affect on the final. The only thing that is worrying me is we are playing so many games and some players do seem like they are getting tired. Now we need to win all our remaining league games aswell - Unless Celtic slip up.
Definitely won't be easy but will enjoy seeing Advocaat and Ricksen against us. Hopefully we do win and Chelsea win the Champions League and set up a Blues Brothers Super Cup final. ;)

Good luck I guess, even if yous never deserved this final on a month of Sundays, good luck in it.
Plus it shuts some knob up on the radio who was like 'well never ever see a Scottish team in a European final again' clown.
'Nuremberg' Hugh?
No one listens to that cunt anymore. He said that before you got to Seville aswell didnt he?

A bit raging now. Got an e-mail from Rangers and found out the only days and times you can collect the tickets are:
Saturday 10 May - 9.30am to 11.30am and 2.00pm to 4.00pm
Sunday 11 May - 10.00am to 4.00pm
Monday 12 May - 10.00am to 4.00pm
I usually start work at 7.00am or 8.00am and don't finish till 4.00pm or 5.00pm. I was told you could collect them on Friday which I don't start work till 1.00pm. Looks like I need to find someone responisble to go and get the tickets. :(

You could just go and get them yourself. I think losing a few pounds over getting once in a lifetime free tickets is worth it.
