I seem to have been right in changing De Gea as Lindegaard is starting for Man U. I would've had Cahill in but on the Premier League fantasy football site it said he was a doubt. The only players I haven't included that aren't injured or gone are Pavlyuchenko and Steven Reid. I had a feeling WBA would concede a few, more than the other defenders I have in my team and Pav isn't guaranteed a start or even an appearance whereas Ba and Walters are almost certain to be involved.
Ba has scored again today by the way. :smug:

Yeah, I've gone five at the back simply because they are all more likely to play than my fourth midfielder (Albrighton) who for some reason isn't getting a look in at Villa.
Although there have been very few clean sheets this season so that might come back to haunt me.

man u fans around the globe are relieved you played de gea again. You seem to be hitting all cylinders when you choose to utilize him.
I am in a bit of pickle. My downhill fall is heightened by the fact my squad is no longer starting - can't believe chelsea gave up on Lampard - he was the only one scoring goals for them. Drogba passing on a contract sealed his playing deal. Even my crappy players that save me for starts, like Salgado, have been snuffed out. In a world of hurt.
edit: and now just read they are making death threats to my Anton Ferdinand

I don't know what to do with my keepers as it's very possible that De Gea will be benched in favour of Lindegaard against QPR. I shall have to risk it with Hennessey in goal. Apart from that I have a team full of injured men with Reid ruled out now and Jarvis a doubt.

The problem I have is that it's Wolves v Stoke this weekend. If it ends 0-0 I get 2 clean sheets but Etherington and Walters get bugger all whereas if there are goals in it, Hennessey and Huth could lose points. I thought the Twinkie Cup was last weekend and was thrilled to see my players doing well then I looked at your post again and realised my mistake. I'm hoping for a middling week for once rather than an extreme low/high. Keep it steady.

16-12-2011, 23:10
Yeah, we've been alternating good-and-bad weeks with each other, recently.
Phats had a good week last time out, I was poor.
Week before that, the other way around. The week before that one, it was him again who was strong and me weak.
Technically, it's my turn for a good week - although I've gambled with Saha instead of Defoe. That might change before tomorrow's first match.

I think assists from Jarvis and Huth and an Osman goal might just sneak it for you.
Although I did have a few clean sheets, nothing really happened going forward for me...
Phatmann
19-12-2011, 13:37
Thomas and Eagles not starting didn't do you any favours. Thank god I made that last minute change bringing in Jarvis for Mulumbu, although I had initially considered taking out Osman as he has done nothing for me and had a minor injury before the game.
The bookings your players picked up might cost you.

Well played, Mike.
Two players not starting and a couple of bookings was effectively the difference.
I think we were fairly evenly matched in terms of proper 'contributions' (goals, clean sheets and assists).
Semi-finals in the club's first season is a proud achievement for Skleptoe & Son. Just need to sort my league form out now and buy a midfield.

I was relatively happy with my squad pre-window, it was just a case of bringing players in for my long-term injuries and for Ba who is away with Senegal. I've realised now that I've got an alarmingly high number of Stoke players in my team. I've left Walters out purely because of this as if Stoke have a poor week, I'd be in trouble.
Message to Fergie: Play De Gea or else you bastard.

Quite a few forced changes i.e. Huth suspended, Ryan Taylor and Tim Cahill both came off injured last week and are doubts for this week. Glen Johnson is coming up against Man U so I'm hoping he doesn't get a clean sheet there and the Yak is finally back so he comes in for Crouch who has done nothing so far but will inevitably score a hat-trick.

I think a huge part of that is because he starts every game. He gets priority in the team ahead of even Crouch and Jones and hasn't been injured or suspended so far. He also chips in with a few goals - a lot from penalties - here and there.

This may change depending on whether the Everton players get injured in their FA Cup game.
By the way, what would happen if 4 out of 6 of my defenders were injured? Would I be able to play 2 at the back? Currently I have Reid who is out for the season, Dunne who is out for another 3 weeks at least and Johnson who has a minor injury. If Baines picks up a knock in the game against Sunderland, I'm knackered.
IronCity
17-03-2012, 14:29
seem like knackered is the operative term. According to the formation rules you would have to play at least 3 defenders. So in your example, you would have to play an injured defender and realize you were getting zero points.
Phatmann
17-03-2012, 14:52
Would I be able to play someone who is down as a midfielder but is playing in defence i.e. Scharner sometimes plays centre-back? Wishful thinking I reckon :( Someone wrap Leighton Baines in cotton wool...and fast!
IronCity
17-03-2012, 15:48
position has to go as the telegraph dictates. wherever Scharner is listed as in the telegraph system is where he has to play in your lineup.
so for instance, when Jones plays midfield he still gets clean sheet points - screwed up but we are stuck with it. I am not looking forward to dealing with this fA - EPL overlap with telegraph points. I still don't get why telegraph includes fa points.

It's merely because Stoke are playing Man City so I can't see Stoke scoring many goals. I had considered playing Tim Cahill instead of Etherington too but I thought I'd spread out the teams I need to play well as I've already got 2 Everton players in my line-up. I've also considered playing an injured Glen Johnson instead of Huth in case Stoke concede a load of goals but I'll keep faith for now.
However, Walters' lack of scoring has made it easier for me to leave him out.
I still don't get why telegraph includes fa points.
The Telegraph lists its competition as Seasonal as opposed to our entirely Premier League based.
I myself have no issue with it being seasonal, as I have stated before as I believe it is purely semantics. I most likely would have included them but its different strokes for different folks, however I can see both sides of the coin.
