The 1st Pirate Wars

The first Pirate Wars begins ....

It is the 18th Century, where Piracy is to quote Charles Johnson "the Great Mischief and Danger Which Threatens Kingdoms and Commonwealths" and in paricular, the Island of PES. It is a small mineral rich lump of land in the Caribbean, the land brings prospectors and they in turn pirates, each leeching off the other.

To control the problem the British army have increased their numbers to protect the coastline, pirates who were unfortunate to not leave prior to their arrival found themselves hung in the make shift town square ... for the viewing pleasure of the small community.

A small band of Pirates has found themselves trapped on the island with no means of escape. Having survived by any means necessary and with luck seemingly only a matter of time from expiring, good fortune prevails, the British army are to relocate swathes of their forces to the Patagonian region within the week.

The Pirates need only survive the week and escape ... however ... during a failed late night raid their presence on the island has been discovered ... a local militia (townies) has been tasked to hunt out the Pirates.

Will the hang or will they swim ... the Pirate Wars now begin ...

Agreed. Actually I think that's a good place to start with. I think we should trace the first Obama hmm, whomever it was, he started the suspicious Obama trend, which I think is enough to warrant suspicion against him.

I think Dundon's has made himself rather suspicious, but I do not think he is indeed a pirate. A pirate would not take such a risk with his very first post. A pirate would use such a post to encourage suspicion against a person whom he knows is not a part of his gang.

I'm just trying to be more cautious about how I go with my statements. I have been accurate in the past when investigating, but the way I worked with my investigations made me suspicious in the process. So this time, I'm trying a less abrasive approach, at least for now.

17th -- Amateur can see a weird association between Bammers and Ali, because all he ever did was agree with something that Bammers said, and then Bammers never responded accordingly, and after a considerable amount of time Bammers mentions something about Dundon's, as if to divert the attention away from Ali; and at the same time, simultaneously, Ali accused Amateur of suspicious behavior because Amateur agreed with Bammers; yet, never once, even though there are plenty of reasons, have Bammers or Ali have accused one another of suspicious behavior, which I think is odd.

17th -- At this point, Amateur thinks that it is very odd how Ali started the game with a very blunt comment concerning Bammers, and how Bammers, in spite of the mentioned comment, has done a great job in diverting suspicion away from Ali.

But yeah, I wouldn't read into it to be honest Amateur. Just wanted to essentially "bump" the thread since it hadn't much activity despite starting several hours earlier.

We've nothing to really go on at all so far. The only possible post that is of skepticism to me, is Dundon's "PM" post, for obvious reasons.

Amateur, I'll answer some of your suspicions towards me:

- You mentioned Ali's first post. At the time, I thought it was a bit suspicious, but, on further reflection, I would have expected a pirate to be more cautious in his suspicions, so early on in the game. In addition, I feel the accusation was supposed to be light-hearted rather than serious.

- I generally try to ignore things like avatars and sigs in this game, because, unless they're really specific, they've often been used in recent games, by both townies and pirates/mafia, as a method to cause confusion, rather than revealing their specific role. Also, I think he's had that avatar since before the roles were given out, so it doesn't hold much significance for me.

- I wasn't trying to 'divert suspicion' away from Ali and towards Dundon's - indeed Dundon's was the subject of many people's suspicion at the time, not Dundon's. The reason I wanted to ask you about him was because you hadn't said anything about him at the time and I think it's important in this game to make sure you hear everyone's opinions on everyone. If someone's hesitant to talk about another suspect, it may just tell you something.

Oh, and the smiley itself is awesome. Reminds me, I think I'll photoshop a few more and add them to the list, any suggestions are welcome (just PM me).

Well, it was only during the Wild West Wars that people started to change their avatars to match the theme of the game, so you're first point is rather pointless. I'm not gonna say any more about my avatar, we'd be going around in circles.

I don't think we've decided just yet, but it's always very risky to vote off someone on the first day. On the other hand, I'm not sure when this game ends and, therefore, how many day and night phases we'll have, so perhaps we do need to get rid of someone today.

Considering we kind of have to get the lynching underway, it might be best if we start posting a little more, just to feel everyone out in that sense.

I'm not too suspicious of LM because of "that" post you quote Bammers, mainly because I think if he was indeed a Pirate, he wouldn't openly say that, and instead just employ the tactic of lingering about, hoping to go 'somewhat' unnoticed. I could of course be wrong, but I don't think LM would draw that kind of unnecessary attention to himself.

It's not really nice to throw someone's name around so soon, but we sort of have to I guess. Again, like many, Dundon's post was really quite strange. I've already gave my opinions on it, but I'll summarise it again quicky; I think he may have been just posting that question to immediately throw everyone off his own scent, by playing the naive card, and it was a really weird thing to do. He could possibly have just hopped in the thread considering he did ask to join up late, but still, not to read the rules or backstory is a bit silly in itself.

Might have to take the chance, but we might as well see everyone's posting plays out for the next few hours, and hopefully something else may come to light if we're lucky.

There's no such thing as a group, particularly at such an early stage of the game, and particularly when you have so many players whom are not talking.

I voted against Ali because I think he is the most suspicious character out of the lot so far, of course this in turn created a window of opportunity to turn the tide against Ali, and basically divide the town into two choices.

The reason behind my vote is very simple, Ali has been rather hypocritical with his accusations, and Dundon's could be bluffing: at the end of the day, I think hypocrisy screams louder than a possible bluff.

If my vote is needed to lynch Dundon's, I will contribute even though I'm far from convinced; however, as long as people like Ali and others do not vote against Dundon's, I'm not gonna change my vote.

Following the Pirate he saw him disappear into the nearby island forest, losing blood, Matt felt dizzy, he carried on for what felt like forever before slowly collapsing again.

Leaving the barrel, the Pirate wandered back over to Matt

“Foolish boy, foolish”

Grabbing a coconut he smashed it on Matt’s head repeatedly until his head resembled Barndoor’s arse after a night of fisting from Jonno. Gibbering and barely alive Matt felt his life drain from his body, the pirate grabbed Matt’s limp frame and dragged him to a clearing on the coastal mountain.

This startled an Islander who had been traversing the area searching for Pirates, it was Smudger, seeking to kill Captain Dale Arsebeard, Smudger raised his gun and shot at the pirate, who had raised Matt as a most muscular shield. Sensing reloading wasn’t an option Smudger launched himself at the Pirate who headbutted Smudger ... with Matt’s head.

Wiping the blood from his eyes, Smudger saw the Pirate’s Cutlass. Crunch. Through his skull. Disposing of both men off the cliff, the pirate returned to the barrel ...

The grog was even weaker than he expected.

Pirate: “Arrrrrrrrrrr! All that for this! I should have cut his head off and mounted it to his front door!!! Arrrrr!!!”

So ends the Tale of Matt Adolf Domino .... he was ... obviously ... an Islander ....

Therefore if neither Ali nor myself are pirates, why didn't the pirates got rid of Ali, and then left it to the town to get rid of me? Makes me think that Ali could be a pirate.

I knew there was a cult leader, but (just like everyone else) was lead to believe that he was lynched, due to Papa (I think) being revealed as cult leader when he was killed, all thanks to the "Bus Driver". If you remember, I said several times that I thought Bammers could have been cult, but not the leader, so I didn't see him to be as big of a threat as the mafia. Anyway, I was recruited by the cult, so technically my side won. So there :tongue:

Hopefully we can get this game back into full flow in a couple of days or so.
