Anyone seen this yet?

I saw it yesterday (P made me...) and hated it. I even got so bored I started writing a text messege near the end.

Firsty I'll post the good points, the acting was mostly quite good. The guy who played Pilate was quite good, and the head Roman solider, didn't catch his name. I kinda felt Jesus was just way way too unrealistic, but hell what can I expect? Both the Mary's sucked too. He was getting whipped 90% of the movie anyway. The main torture scene was quite well done I thought... until it went on for about 10mins.

Bad points. Shit at least Braveheart had the odd good bit. But it shared the same stupid ending, I thought Jesus was going to shout freedom with his dying breath. The subtles pissed me off too, some of them were gone before I had a chance to read them. Many parts just dragged on, like when he was being whipped with ninetales. I read on IMDB someone comparing it to Kill Bill, pfft. Carrying the cross took bloody ages too, zzzzz.

I am of course an atheist as you can probably tell by this post, and this is of course my oppinion. I'm eager to hear other people's.

lol, read quicker, i had chance to read the subtitles twice let alone once!

i thought it did what it set out to do, and did it well. it's not exactly the best thing to go into a movie knowing what happens... so do avoid the bible before hand if at all possible. mary was great i thought, jesus was only mediocre though. the worst and most mis-cast actor had to be pilate. his look was just completely wrong for the role. and i couldnt help but think of them high priests as being a cross over of the dwarfs in 'Willow' and members of the KKK.

the movie wasnt quite as moving as i expected, even though it sometimes made u cringe, especially during one of the whipping scenes. oh, and gav, i suspect carrying the cross did take bloody ages, it weighed a lot you know...

It was just one of two of the lines I missed, when lines from an actor followed another and I missed them. I still think both the Mary's were overacted to the max. I thought Pilate was pretty good, made you feel he didn't want to kill Jesus but to save his own skin he pretty much had too, good leader. But I do think Romans in general were great, yey Imperialism.
