Demo was good.

I don't think so. Put it this way - PES 6 was liked by pretty much every PES fan. Look at the comments so far on the demo - very mixed. Still a long way from the glory days yet.

I doubt it!
It is still not fifa, and far being like any fifa I've played. They are 2 different games. THIS IS MORE LIKE PES 6. But people forget that pes 6 wasn't 100% sim.

Well, i really like it, haven't played PES gmae properly since 2006. So ave it Konami has done for me.

Mate, part of the reason PES 6 was seen as so good, was because the competition from FIFA was dreadful, this made the game really shine out as a good game because it was easily the best of its genre

You've got to remember that this demo is part one of two. The second demo will probably come out a couple of weeks before release date. This demo is not the final product.

If they can manage to fix ball physics and shooting by the time they release this thing, then we have a pretty decent game.

I feel it too.
I felt it with pes 2011, although it missed that polished and complete feel of last gen games, plus it made me snap a number of discs and effectively end up paying 90 quid for 9 months of PES.
Glad to hear enjoying pes again DJ clue as gay as that sounds:lol:
I felt pes 2011 was a step in the right direction but still wasnt up to scratch. This, however feels good, very very good

I find it scary that Konami releases a 1st demo Aug 22, will release a 2nd demo, and have discs in production for Sept 27th release in the US with all the bugs and oddities listed on this page fixed. How many hours of codewriting need to be implemented to pull all of the problems listed off. Dribbling??? They finished with that aspect a month ago - are they going back to the drawing board on that? I think not.
all of the UK folks who felt cheated by the later release there may actually get the best game with the extra time.

Best for me was PES 3 in 2004. That was so far ahead of anything else at the time! Its odd I remember playing this and thinking football games in 10 years time are going to be amazing! Well we are nearly there and I dont think we have moved on too much at all... Backwards in some ways... If you take away the graphics and animations im not sure anything has really changed that much... Wish it wasnt Konami who created PES... New game engine needs to be created for next gen consoles please! Stop flogging a dead horse!
By the way Im not an EA fan, the engine they created in 2007 is utter shite and updating that every year is just building on crap... At least the pes engine was brilliant to start with, its just out of date!
How are people getting hold of this demo? I use the Xbox 360, and was hoping for some spoken word on the matter of the demo on my console. I've been incredibly busy lately, hence my lack of understanding on the matters, but I read on our very forums that the Xbox 360 demo is being delayed...is this true?
Not that I it matters much, as I don't believe Konami should ever release such an early build demo, but this is more so curiosity of course.

Spot on and still to this day the biggest leap in quality of a yearly updated football game and what the ps2 pes glory days were built on.PES 5 was my second favorite pes of ps2 days.

No in 2006 it actually was good game... What a stupid comment, that's like saying Goldeneye on N64 wasn't that good because there was nothing around to compete with it... A game can still be good even with no competition you know!

Yep 360 demo delayed...You can still get it on ps3 and PC though. There are going to be 2 demos so 360 may just get the second one.
I agree, didnt see the point in the first demo, will probably put some people off, quite a good demo though but clearly unfinished.
Also this is confusing but here is a video from PES 3, good goals. Im pretty sure the player movement that they are hyping up this year is in this... This game looks amazing!

The more time I spend playing the demo the more fucked off I get. The more you play the more you notice and the level of incompetence displayed by Konami goes from strength to strength. I gave the game the benefit fo the doubt on the first few plays but I've noticed enough now to make my mind up.
Keepers - useless
Defending - total mess - sometimes you want a player to just stick a leg out, now! instead you have to wait for the player to 'lock on' and wait for the AI to decide to make a challenge. Total crap. Waiting over, the AI mistimes the challenge and the ball is in the net. Total shit.
Player movement is still pretty crappy as well. Couldn't have been worse if I made it. Team-mate defenders seem to do next to nothing, they don't make clearing headers or take up good positions in defence or attack.
How many times do your team mates have to get in the way of your own shot?
I've won most of the games I've played on the demo, including the last 4 games but I couldn't care less. Leaves me feeling completely ambivalent. This game feels arcadey, fake, and just a tarted up PS1 game. Something you could find in the foyer of a local Premier Inn perhaps.
For me this game is as bad as 2010 and 2011 and 2009 and 2008. Different things made worse, things that should have been fixed haven't been.
Before anyone says its only the first demo. They took over 8 months to get to this point - how will they fix everything they've not fixed in only one? They've spent 8 months dicking about with graphics, managers on touchline, making the graphics slightly blurier and the interface more difficult to use, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE BEING PAYED FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say I shan't be purchasing this pile of horse manure in October, its the same old shit from the same old ass holes. Year after year.

Fully agree, PES5 was the game that impressed me the most at the time, it offered a balanced game of footy, and at the time was so far ahead of the competition, and even without competition, it was simply impressive at the time.
Not to sound repetitive but I genuinely think that the mistake was that Konami didn't knew when to stop doing what they are still doing, you know, not having independent control over the direction of movement and over the direction of passing is a massive limitation, and milking the same cow for so many years is just going around in circles: the same old problems remain because these are core problems that can only be fixed or improved upon by changing or reinventing the game from the ground up.
The footy sim that will reinvent the genre in the years to come, will be the one that offers movement within the space before anybody else. I was thinking it was going to be Konami, because they used to be more hardcore, but I feel that Konami has now settled for a more casual video game where the "Active AI" practically plays the game for you.

+1 actually i like a fast paced game ( just my opinion) and when i meen ball physics its how the ball moves in the air, normally in pes 2011 if you hit the ball side footed or outer foot then the ball would go straight to the keeper and didnt replicate no realism, in pes 2012 the physics of you hitting the ball with outer foot and it spinning realistically is spot on

Nemisiskidd comments on the demo seem like the rare ones worth noting..
This about the ball physics & curves related to the player shooting foot position has been way off in pes for years. Good to hear they got it sorted out.
Also ppl saying about ball physics should note that professional balls have got significantly lighter and more balloon like during last few years.
Anyway I've found almost the best solution just not to read any comments about demo, but simply buy the game and see for myself then :D.
I've played pes since pes3 and always enjoyed the newest pes after a while of getting used to it.
Only thing pissing me from konami is their ability to remove completely working and good features and add new half-working stuff, which they improve to next year till they remove & rework it again. It's like they are inventing the wheel over and over again, instead of improving it.
Still I'm confident that the new pes will satisfy my taste :)

True, because sometimes it travels a bit too slow.
And yes, the ball curve is awesome. A truly great positive thing to see.
Goals and animations are much improved too.

Yep, I definitely feel it. If I accept it as a demo of course, a work in progress. I don't think the adjustments are too hard to get right either, but I fear Konami might be a bit too sloppy in the end.

for me, the gameplay will be great once you have mastered it - but this is where the troubles lay, a one off play of a demo may istantly be liked, but its the hours of MLO12 that will make or break the game.
triple tap circles, blatent match AI rigging (div2 vs newbie div5 anyone!?), broken tournements. For me this is where the money lays!
Get the concept of MLO polished and i'd be happy with the SWOS game engine!!!
Also this year i'm gonna go X-box after playing PS3 last year....
Are the cheaters still on x-box, too many PS3 users lag the game todisconnect when they are losing, its a joke, you cant even collectively get them banned - i'm hoping x-box will be much better

I don't hate it, but I can't say I love it either. And once I played the 2012 Demo, the 2011 version became instantly unplayable. Mainly because of the teammates movement, or lack of it.
for me the best PES of this generation was 2010. 2011 for me was too arcadish with the passing and Konami had to implement cheaeting catch up systems and horribly bad shooting to compensate the crazy good passing. While it was fun it really didn;t feel like PES to me. This beta version of 2012 is not that good, the good demo is the WE demo which is a later product of the same game. Based on the WE demo I feel this coming game will be the best of the generation resebling the gameplay style and feel of the old PS2 games such as WE10, PES5 and 6.
For me this generation
1 2010
2 2011
3 2009
as for 2008, it doesnt qualify, it was a total disaster!
Im thinking 2012 will top the list though, I get a good feeling when playing the WE demo!

good point, same here, 2011 is so different, feels so arcadish and one dimentional from passing to player movement and also the tackling system and way of playing defense on 2012 makes it much deeper as far as gameplay. Now when I go online and play 2011 I whip the ball around and feels too open and loose... 2012 is definitely a better approach to the game!

I felt it in 2011 but what I aint feeling is Konami's frustrating as fuck habits of removing features that don't make any sense what so ever!! I mean really? What possible benefit does it bring to remove the ability the transfer players in edit mode during a League/Cup you got going on?? Oh and this is the hilarious part, Leagues can go on for an unlimited amount of seasons with the Champions League in tact and everything but you can't edit the transfers? YOU HAVE TO START AGAIN!!?? WTFF?? WHAT'S THE DAMN POINT THEN? Who the hel wants to use old squads 6 seasons in League mode? Sooo stupid!
Gameplay is finally decent, don't go and fuck up the features now Konami damn.
I like the new feature of tactics in the game when you press start and circle. Good they removed all the replays of fouls but waiting for extra player to step up in free kicks is annoying. Couldnt be more careless about that.
So Konami have can we trust that PES 2012 will be out for xbox. I mean you promised us demo and now just ignore us. Idiots.
