My main gripe with PES 2012, is what has been one of the worst factors about it's gameplay for about 5 years... the goalkeepers.

You'd think by now they'd think 'hey, everyone thinks our goalkeepers are shockingly poor, we best improve them'. Not the case of course. It's like they took their goalkeeping research based off of John O'Shea's short stint in goal, and have stuck with the same animations and movements for the last several years. It's woeful, and of the goals I've scored and conceded so far in the Xbox 360 demo, I'd say between 50-60% of them the goalkeepers 'should' have saved.

despite my earlier rant im pleased with this years pro AI movement shootings a bit better too on the 2nd demo but massive fucking BUT as hunter said goalkeepers are so bad its a joke so wont be buying for the first time this year as im sick of paying konami for an unfinished game.

Konami need to remember its as enjoyable to watch the gk make a cracking save as it is to score a cracking goal too many fumbles and the amount of times the ball just rolled past my goaly was ridiculous.

I would rather wait another two months for the game to come out while they make all the tweaks and put out a decent finished article. As for the deluded people dont try and tell me the gks are ok or better than before because its bollox sometimes u gotta hold ur hands up! Maybe next year they will get it right

1. GK
2. Camera angle
3. Dribbling feels like yoyo
4. No manual pass, shoot, etc...
5. Animation
6. Shooting better than first demo but still needs more tweaking.

Goalkeepers
AI attack nearly always comes to one of there players skinning one of your player, whether that's a average midfielder playing like Iniesta or an average striker skipping round your last man.Playing high pressure game is more difficult this year because the harder you press the more godly like the A.I become.
Defending whilst tracking back is sloppy.
Defenders feel weak and have a annoying habit of completing moving past the ball when you're using super cancel.
Defending becomes a bit playground-ish with players all over the place
It feels stupid running and dribbling with fast players.
Close control is still to much glued to your foot.
Playing one-two's is again sloppy.

The damn 10 minute video you have to watch every time you start the demo up. Is there any way to get rid of that?

Unless its just me I'm finding that every 50/50 ball is usually won by the opposition. Misplaced pass - the opposition is on it, keeper parrys the ball - always falls to the opposition, play too long a pass - the opposition will always reach it first, clearances - you guessed it, falls to the opposition, and so on and so on.

As I said, maybe its just me, maybe its the difficulty level or learning curve but it can be a tad frustrating. Overall though I'm really, really enjoying demo2 :)

I have to say, I'm definitely warming to the demo (Xbox 360). All good PES games take some time to transition, and the good games tend to grow on you, adding that longevity.

As far as the core gameplay and animations go, I'm really quite liking it. Shooting feels quite great, passing is obviously an improvement over the generic system a few years back although it still is a little sloppy and inconsistent I think at times, slide tackling is good. Overall, it's quite good so far I reckon.

My main gripe is still of course the jumping and loading mid-game which occurs quite a bit. Also the cringeworthy goalkeeping, and sometimes dribbling magicians it seems of the opposition are beyond frustrating mind, especially the goalkeeping which has plagued the series for years now. I've noticed as well player cursor changing out of the blue. On the last game, the problem was that when you clicked to switch, it would sometimes switch to the wrong player - but now it seems that when you're controlling a player, sometimes the cursor will simply switch anyway of its own accord. I was controlling Assou-Ekotto earlier, and went to lunge in with a slide tackle, only for the cursor to have been switched without my control meaning I slid with Gallas instead (who was 15 yards away from the action marking someone), meaning I wiped out the opposition's striker from behind, receveiving a straight red card. As I say, it's happened a few times since, especially with the odd slide tackle, so it really could do with being addressed as I can see it being another problem.

I haven't noticed any jumping. The goalkeepers do make mistakes, but personally I haven't seen any major cock ups yet, however the was one instance where I tried to clear the ball with my gk and it rebounded off the back of my defender in comical fashion . That was more my fault though.

Hunter, I think you can edit the settings so cursor change is completely manual. The default setting is semi-automatic.

Are you playing on the PS3 or the Xbox by the way?

The jerking/stopping motion tends to happen several times a game on the Xbox 360 version, if only just for a split second, it is still noticeable and can break up the play (especially when you press a button at the time of it jumping).

I wouldn't say I've seen GK 'cock ups', just poor goalkeeping, keeping in theme with the PES series. As in, the ball will be heading towards the keeper, maybe just 40cm to his side, yet he'll still fall and let the ball go past him and into the back of the net for a goal. This sort of thing I've seen on a few occasions now on the demo, which has been prominent in every PES game unfortunately for about 5 years now at least.

As for the cursor switching, I shouldn't really have to switch to fully manual in order to not be penalised by the system. I tried manual switching for PES 2011 I believe but that was short lived as I sometimes forgot to switch at all given how long I've been using the default settings in PES now. It's just a seemingly simple problem that Konami should be able to fix - when you're preparing to challenge an opposition player with the ball, Konami, don't switch the player cursor, especially to someone further away.

the goalkeeper positioning is poor as mario gomez is in the wing and goes in towards the goal at a tight angle and my keeper as if he's skating on ice is in the left side of the net so basically he just taps it to his nearest post left with my keeper standing watching

I'm on PS3, which we all know is the superior console. No emoticon here, because I'm deadly serious.

With regards to the cursor changing, I can't remember a PES that didn't have this problem. But it's just one of the downfalls of the semi auto setting, I guess.

EDIT: yeah, abu. I've noticed problems with gks not covering their near post.

Funny, I thought I was the only person that the PES logo flash before the replays really irked. Glad to see this annoys others.

it's not only the hexagons, if a shot goes of the outer post and goes out, it doesn't show the replay, but if you hit a high shot which goes near the corner flag, it does show the replay

If you play the Copa America Libertadores sides then when you get a replay you get blinded by that logo its so bright!!

No seriously this dribbling/close control of players needs to be toned down its absolutely ridicilous its like a yoyo.

Anyone who refuses to believe me go play PES 2011 and hold sprint button and see how many steps players take before they touch the ball again, I made a comparison and Messi from pes 2011 with 97DA looks similar to some defender in pes 2012 who has 70DA in terms of how the ball is glued to the foot, its not realistic at all.

Not only is it not realistic it also limits my options, when I don't hold sprint button I have close control of the ball and when I do hold it I also have pretty much almost the same ( a bit less ) close control, I have less options because of that because I can't combine very short/short/longer touches and directional changes like in real life people like Messi do.
Because the Pace button, no sprint and sprint all have almost similar range of kicking the ball forward.

hunter there is a problem with the 360 version, there blaming it on the compression for the demo. its not present in the full version.

I have notice the player switch 'bug' (glitch?) but i have on occasion had players run away from the ball also which is strange, for example a through ball to an attacker just from the striker to start running away from the ball. its more annoying when it happens in defence.

the keepers are better I think in reaction saves but the simple stuff still get fumbled far to often.

the controls are better then last year but what happened to the old 'Manual' control scheme, I don't remember half the problems with it.

to be fair it miles better then the first demo, almost all my gripes from it have been fixed.
