View Full Version : Unofficial - How are you doing in Master League?
Hell yeah my favorite thread, about my favorite PES game-mode :
So anyway, bought PES today (only 2 copies left in the entire store, damn I was lucky) and I'm about to start a Master League with the ML Default Team (I like challanges:)).
Just went out of the January transfer month, this is how my team looks like after selling more than half of my team, and buying young 'cheapies'

Anyway, I am in Top-Player, and I find it not that hard so far. D2 teams' defence is absolutely ridiculous, my boy Uchida fuxxes everyone up :w00t
Speaking on defence, I really need to improve mine, my wins have been like 4-3, 3-2, 5-3, 4-2, etc; I do win, but hardly, I think I am yet to win a game without conceding a goal. My defenders are pretty bad to be honest . Let's see what next Season's youth investment gives me.
On a second note, even though D2 teams are not that hard to beat, when I faces Arsenal in the first Cup knockouts game, I got schooled 5-1.. there is a HUGE difference in D2 teams to Premier League teams, Arsenal was absolutely powerful and devastating, had I think 71% ball posession, with 21 shots, while I had only 3.. And my goal was absolutely lucky and pathetic, not even worth explaining:lol:
Man, I am scared to play against teams like Barça, Milan, Real, etc; if I even get in the Premier League top 4 to get a spot in Champions League.. I think I'll be struggling for maintenance on the league for a few seasons, before my team gets strong enough.
So enough talking about me, how are you doing?
- What team are you managing?
- What league are you in?
- What formation are you using?
- What players do you currently have in your team?
- What players do you wish to buy?
- What players would you recommend?
Etc,etc,.
Share :)
Last place on professional after half season (standard pes lineup D2 league .. ooh they suck!). Won 2 home games. Thinking to drop to regular in ML. Who is doing better?

For the first time in years I felt out of depth on top player, so I'm playing on the next level down, which is still a challenge.
I'M getting better at defending, so my team's 16th place showing will probably improve as the season goes along. Right now, though, they're fxking terrible.
Thank heavens Ettori can play a little, or I'd be hosed. Couldn't get any major signing done either. Which brings me to a complaint: why can't you see the state of your finances at every step? I have no idea whether or not I'll have the money to afford a signing.

Yes, but that doesn't seem to update. Last year, you were essentially earning money every home game, depending on how well-attended your games were. It doesn't seem to track money the same way this year, unless I'm missing something.

The first season was a pain and I had to play it at Professional to be able to score enough points to go up to D1. The trick for me was buying some half-decent midfielders and shooting from outside the box in 5 minute matches, pretty much ensuring a win any time I scored the first goal.
I'm almost through my second season now.
I'm currently 5th but I still have a chance of getting into the UEFA Cup if luck is on my side. I play on the Spanish League and it's just ridiculous how Barcelona and Real Madrid are playing their own 2-team league 20-30 points above everyone else.
I don't know if these are good signings but my current lineup is this:
GK - Rustu (reborn)
CB - Chigrat (reborn, insane stats. Check ML players thread)
CB - Palmieri
RB - Nogtura
LB - Mangala (he's relatively cheap and can play in any defensive position)
DMF - Heycory
CMF - Defour
CMF - O'Hara
RMF - Shimizu
SS - Ravet
CF - Metelger
I agree the finances are confusing. I still don't get when I get paid sponsor money, but oh well. As long as I don't go bankrupt.
By the way, you earn a *lot* more money from home games when you get to D1.

That is an awesome result! You must be an expert in pes if you learned to play defense well so quickly. What formation and strategy do you use? Do you use RT+X when defending. What are the other settings: games speed, passing assistance level. How do you find open space for a shot in general? I do a lot of passing, but ai defense is quick to block almost any shot. Thanks.
Edit: I noticed in the other thread that you have 23 million. I also think most of your players not from the starting pes team. so how did you get to 23mil in 1 season and all these decent players?

I'm not an expert at all, I just play cheaply when I face the AI. Setting the match time to 5 minutes is a must for me or else I'm pretty much conceding a goal at the very least. Also keep in mind I play in the Spanish League where a lot of teams are really not that good.
For defense I wait for the attackers "manually" instead of using RT+X. A good tactic is waiting out until you have a second defender to take the ball if the first one misses. This doesn't work very well in Top Player or against really good teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid and some others that have unstoppable players.
As far as attacking goes, I don't think I have any real good advice. I just pass the ball quickly and take the shot when I see the space. If the defense looks too tight I either go back to my defenders and start over or I try a long pass to my RMF (Shimizu -he's awesome) and try a cross. Crosses are another good way of getting goals against average defenders as they can be beat in jump/header even with a default player like Ordaz.
Everything becomes a lot easier once you get new players with ratings of 80 or so, which you should do quickly.
About my budget and players: I did not get 23million in one season, that screenshot was taken at the middle of my second season, where I get over a million per home match. I also got new sponsors worth a bit less than 10m (total) at the end of the first season. Most of my team is also pretty cheap. I think the most expensive player is Defour with a market value of ~1.8m US$.
I'm currently in the 2nd season with Juventus. Settings: Top Player/10mins. I initially played a Champions League edition so i can gather the 100pts required to unlock real players on master league.
First season was a pain in the ass, couldn't quite handle all the changes, finished on the 8th place, eliminated from Champions League and lost in Europa League quarter finals. It's been very hard. Now in the 2nd season, currently in November, I bought some quality players. I mostly buy players with a great dribble/top speed, that's my game. So I bought Miccoli and Gabriel Agbonlahor, both fast moving strikers. Through balls using teammate control is a HUGE win. This 2nd season is a lot easier, I'm currently 2nd in Italian League 1 defeat/1draw and 8 wins. Doing well in Europa League too.
Btw guys I also had huge defensive issues the previous season. It's really simple once you get the hang of it... I only conceded 9 goals so far in 10 league games, which is a pretty good result considering the difficulty. This helps a lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLu9SgjrJgM
What assisted settings do you use mate? passing etc.
I'm currently playing with the default, ML team in D2. And boy do they suck!! I won my 1st match 3-1 then lost the next 4 only scoring 1 goal.
I'm playing on Professional, which is a step down from every other PeS where I played Top Player, and I'm finding it hard, which is a good thing really.
I'm sitting about 14th in the table only won 3 games and lost...a lot as I'm poor at defending but I'm getting better.

i'm deleting him for definite
or i'd replace him by downloading an option file
Question: how long does it take before a player that has already joined my team to be useable? I signed Utaka during which I played a few games now and yet he still isn't on my squad list.
Where does chigrat play so i can delete him?
Currently number 11 in Premier League in mid december. 2 more matches and i will get 3 new players. Bendtner on a loan transfer, and some polish guy whose name i can not spell also on loan, and R. Jenssen on permanent transfer - norwegian midfielder with great stats.
Finally i seem to learn how to defend on top player playing as underdog team Fc Copenhagen. I've managed to draw 2-2 against Man U and lose narrow 1-0 against City. Chelsea i still have to learn to close down since they beat me 2-0.
ML is so addictive this year!

Depends on when you sign them. If you do it during the transfer window then they either join right away or at the end of it; and if you sign them at any other time they will join when the next transfer window opens.
You can also check exactly when they'll join by going to Negotiations->Negotiations in progress and highlighting the desired player.

He plays for WE United.
Just finished my 2nd season. I've improved a lot and I like it, part of this improvement is switching the camera over to Blimp, it's way easier now!

Gotta love this year's PES. It's just so random and so good.
What camera settings do you guys use?
After one long week of editing I finally tried out this years ML this evening.
First thing I recognized is the fact that all player stats are visible now for all players on the player search.
I maybe wrong and confuse things with the football manager series I play from time to time, but in the past installements of the PES Series you had to scout the players to see their stats. Or am I wrong?
Is there anything in the settings for ML I overlooked?

You are correct Sir. Last year you could only see a players overall rating and position, unless you had one of the higher level scouts one of which was said to "Be able to see how good a player is, without watching them play"
1 thing they have brought back from PES 2010 is being able to search for players though "Player Indexing" e.g. "Goal poacher" "Fox in the Box"
This was something I missed in PES 2011, and makes searching for a certain type of player a little less time consuming.

Thanks for the info. Bad thing Konami. I loved the scouting aspect with my low level scouts when I start with a 2. league team in the ML... :realmad:
The return of the more detailed player search of PES 2010 is indeed a good thing.
How is the CPU transfers in Master League this time around?
It's dreadful to see world class players like Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney leave their respective clubs already in the first transfer window, or loyal players like Gerrard, Terry and Giggs leave their clubs.
It ruins the fun of ML to me, as just after one season meeting Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United is a walk in the park, and suddenly a club like Everton, with all respect, is lifting the Premier League trophy after the first season.
its been toned down but not by much as you still see retarded transfers
its been toned down but not by much as you still see retarded transfers
Do you play with "transfer frequenzy" set to "low"? It doesn't change the retarded transfers but the chance for them will be reduced as there aren't that much transfers.
I agree that some transfers in my 2011 ML were ridiculous! e.g. Messi to Real Madrid, Guti to Barca ...
It can't be that difficult for Konami to give players like Casillas, Gerrard, Totti, Puyol, Del Pierro... a secret stat that the will never leave their club or at least that they will never go to their biggest rivals.
^ Exactly. I haven't discovered any so far, but they will come for sure. Every year i see as you mention Messi to Real, Rooney to City, Gerrard to Chelsea etc.

Playing with the original team is so hard on professional -1 speed. This game really emphasizes every single player on the team. I bought 2 wingers and a dmf to buff up the midfield. Though i could pass the ball well and control the midfield, i realized that was a big mistake. The default team's defenders and strikers are bloody awful. Out of all the shots, 90 percent was either caught by the goalkeeper or missed; the only goals i scored was headers, tap ins and running around the goalkeeper for one on one(goalkeepers are pretty awful in one on ones). The defenders always leave gaps and cant outmuscle anyonep; i play a deep line. During the winter transfer window its a must to buy strikers especially with good shot power. It's just so frustrating. I must say though this is shaping upto be the best Master League for me. The AI is so good, defending is simply fun for the first time and every player matters. Never again would i neglect buying defenders last; which i usually do in all the last pes i've played. I'm thinking of switching it to regular, which i hardly ever do for any of the pes games.
My record so far is 1W 2D 4L. 3rd last in the league.
Playing this game really gives you a sore thumb.

How far in your ML season are you? Also, at what level is your transfer frequency set to? Low, Normal or High?
I know I'm a bit sad as I care way too much about realism in a video game, but playing Real Madrid I should have troubles defending Cristiano Ronaldo, not Lionel Messi.
hi all i am new here,
this game is frustrating but i like it, played ML straight away, top player, defualt players like i've always done, man, didnt win a game 1st half of the season, managed just 1 signing in winter, one mid fielder and he makes such a difference..., have one win now thou, ML defualt players are so useless.... signin players is much harder too. can wait to get home and continue...A.I plays so well, defending is a nightmare... i wonder wot will happen when i come across barca...or one of the top teams

I generally start as Liverpool with the club lineup, never used to but on next gen, I don't know, I just do. I feel like I'm missing out on something though when all you guys complain (but in a good way) about it being hard and the need for the transfer window etc etc. Think I'll reboot it with the default players, give that a whirl. Normally play on Top Player, but I have a feeling pro or even regular may be the way to go in this mode.

Don't put it down to regular, it's very boring although you will win a lot more games, you never score great goals as you figure out a way to score and use it too often. The excitement of scoring goes when you knock it down to regular. I did this for a few games when I was getting frustrated and won 3 games too easily, so knocked it back up to Pro.
Your record, although you might not believe me, isn't that bad with the default ML team, they're shite, flying controller shite at times.
In my 1st season I finished 4th from bottom in D2 using my tried and tested 4-1-2-1-2 formation from PES2011. My defence was weak, my midfield couldn't maintain possession, and my attackers rarely saw the ball, never mind score when they got it. Tactics had to change if I was going to maintain a promotion threat the following season.
So I built from the back with the little funds I had, buying a CB to partner Palimeri albeit only a 71 Overall rated player, a DMF of similar ability I switched to a more Defence Heavy Formation, 4-5-1 with 2 DMF, 2 SMF and 1 AMF/CMF.
Games this season have been far from the beautiful games I was playing
only weeks ago on PES2011, but results have come, 1-0s and 0-0s are common place more so the latter, but come the winter transfer period I was sitting in 6th with zero defeats, but a crap load of draws.
I spent what little budget I had left on a CF, again nothing special (68 over all) to try and find a player to put the damn ball in the onion bag, as Ordaz wasn't up to the task.
With 8 games to go I'm 2nd.......just, not much in it between the top 5 tbh, and might get up to the Premier League.
Fingers Crossed, not while playing ofc, that would be stupid.
Beware guys, I got fired finally in the first half of the 2d season (professional and -1 speed)! I restarted on regular and 0 speed and now sitting at the 2d place after ten games. The game is unbalanced. There should be a level between regular and professional.

you can get fired in master league???:shocking::shocking:: shocking:
i've got 2 wins in a row.... leading a game now...
tweeked my strategy, 1 is normal, 2 counter attack, 3 all out attack 4, is all out defence...
switch in and out depending on the situation
after i score a goal, i go defensive, cause the A.I. is always out for revenge after conceeding,
anyone notice how these a.i. teams dont miss free kicks???
Sorry to keep pushing on with this, but it's a major part of me enjoying ML or not.
Can somebody who's in the 2nd or 3rd season of ML tell me how the CPU transfers are? I will accept some crazy transfers, but is every single star player moving on to rival clubs and such, which was the fact with ML in PES 2011.

Why did you get fired? didn't you complete the side missions? I knew it was possible to get fired if the chairman loses faith in you, so in my 1st season, when i was given a mission I made sure I passed it so i'd get a little boost of confidence from the chairman.
Now though he can go to hell if he wants me to play a bad player for 30mins....he never picks someone good does he?

Yeh i know it's a bit of a pain :( Try putting a tall player on the opposite post to the wall if you can, doesn't always work but i have had a few goal line clearances from freekicks using that tactic.
And your right about your opponents pressuring you after they have conceded a goal. Some teams counter attack strategy works then, a few times i have had good break aways from teams pressuring me after I have gone a goal up.
Still having trouble with convincing wins though. Winning by the odd goal, but 3 points is 3 points regardless of how many you score.

Had a look though the premier league and la liga after reading a post asking this. The BIG players all seem to be still at there current clubs and this is after 3 transfer windows as I'm comming to the end of my 2nd season.
You can turn transfers off completely if you want, only your club can sign players, but I think that would be a bit far.
Although I may have this when I start my BAL campaign.

I completed missions fine they have very little effect, but losing games does. You get fired when his backing hits zero and it does if you keep on losing and hanging at or near the last place. Second year I had slightly better team, but I was playing a little worse myself. Yet even if I played my best game I would still get fired but a little later probably. I am annoyed by craziness of AI at professional when it always(!) outruns you and pushes off the ball with a player with equal or worse stats. They are way too organized in defense too for a second league team. I actually like the gameplay on regular now because equal players are equal except that I wish cpu was less forgiving when attacking you. Playing on professional is good with a team like barca in pes2012, but not in ML. In Ml strikers blow a lot of chances on regular and on professional I created even less but they blow at the same rate so scoring a goal in one game was quite an achievement. May be playing at 0 speed is better though, because I was able to stay clean sheet 4 games in a row when I tried 0 speed setting (on prof) during the season.

Indeed!! And i've only scored once myself! It's so frustrating to see a team like szelawce in div 2 scoring on 3 of 3 free kicks in a game. Every time the cpu team gets a free kick from 20-25 meters they score - no matter what team and which player - and it's completely useless placing a defender on the goal line. MAJOR bug in my opinion. however the fk's are way more realistic from a further distance than the above mentioned
What level are you guys doing. I'm still struggling on whether to do professional or top player. Which one do you think is more realistic and does the cpu cheat on top player

I've been struggling with the same problem until MatDerKater (thank you!) gave me that wonderful tip on how you can control your goalie and position him better. I haven't conceded as many goals from FK ever since. However be careful, don't move him too far away, middle is perfect; the CPU could shoot in the other direction and then you're screwed. You can control your goalkeeper by pressing L1 + pressing the right analogue stick, and then you can move back the same way. Make sure you do, otherwise you'll be stuck controlling your goalie only. Works fine! ;)
man almost got axed, had to win the last fixture of my 1st season... managed to draw, seems tthe chairman has a heart afterall.... kept my job... phew...

Woah, is everyone really having that hard of a time in Master League this year?
Well, I am doing better than I expected, last year I took 6-7 seasons to finally start closing in #1's in League Games Champions League Semi-Finals/Finals
Anyway, I am currently 1st. place on D2 league, with 5 ponts away from the 2nd, 13 victories,5 draws, 3 losses.
Just went out of the January transfer month, this is how my team looks like after selling more than half of my team, and buying young 'cheapies'

I don't understand how you can score so many goals, but... Why do you have a completely different line up? how much money did you start with to afford so many players above 70 and some at 80? Also how could you replace original players so quickly if you are allowed to negotiate only 3. How do you score most of your goals? I find ai defense pressure is ridiculous and I cant break in with Ordaz or Ettori.

Started off with 5.3 million sold pretty much everyone on the team, gained at least 6 million more, then sold lots of the Youth Squad members for like 1.5million more. Palmieri had a great half-season, (went 67 to 73 overall) and Fiorentina bought him for 4 million (this was what saved me from going bankrupt from the player-buying spree, and gave me 4-5 more cheap players) Gained like 18 million, wasted every drip of it Nearly every player I bought was under 500k, some of them even 100-200k, Podoslki and Gotze were clubless, along with the likes of Coentrão, Kieran Gibbs, and a few more 75+ overallers, but those were far too expensive(salary-wise), I bought the cheapest ones
The most expensive player I bought was Uchida, costed 1.3 million :shocking:, next to Petorbenov which costed 830k
But damn, they are being VERY worthy.
Why is Uchida SS in my game though? I thought he was Side Back from the last PES game? Bug or something?
Well, I find D2 teams decent to beat, Uchida is a insane speed demon, Gôtze is class, Petorbenov is deadly in his runs, Podolski has that killer shot in him, while Dost and Kewuke have massive Body Balance, which almost no defender can withstand. The thing is though, like I said, my victories are very slim, I have a positive victory rate (50%+) but that is thanks to my killer attack. When it comes to mid-field and defence, I'm absolutely worthless. My team has 85 Speed and 81 Technique, and.. 62 defence
The way I win, is by dominating the ball in the opponent's midfield (18 pressure), and always end up conceding goals in opponent's counter-attacks thanks to my weak defence.
I have 36 goals, and have suffered 28... I think I am yet to win without suffering a goal, and only won like 2-3 games with a 2+ goal difference.

I have to admit, I'm impressed. I wouldn't of dared do a radical change to the whole club like that. Kudos to you dude.
:bravo:
buy messi and ronaldo may be you wont lose in the first game of the next season
lol, i cant afford those guys yet.... just got axed, couldnt resist playing before jetting off to work... so now i have to start again...
and i had gottensome new players, was looking forward to playing my second season..

I am not sure about what Raykion is saying. 1. How can you replace your entire team if you are allowed to negotiate 3 players only? 2. It is impossible to sell classic line up players for 6m. They all together cost a little more then 1m. 3 In Ml you start with 3m cash. 4. I do not follow how pressing high can help you to score 4-5 goals in a game even with the team he has (I play pressing 14 so what? it does not make a huge difference).
Btw I am still trying to fight on professional after getting fired. I restarted the season and started new ML. I decided to spend all the money on players. I bought couple more players costing 0.5m from free agents. They are AMF 83 and CB 76. I played 5 games and I am actually to may own surprise doing much better now. I have 2-2-1 result. Although, I am finding it is really hard to play because pressure is unrealistically ridiculous. It reminds me fifa last year. It is not that enjoyable as regular level. I find regular game dynamics more real. I wish I could tone down that pressure from AI.
i am having problems downloadin the patch, keeps giving me error 80029564
anyone seen this

1m? That's weird, every ML I've been playing with the default team I always ended up cashing some nice millions. Burchet always gets sold for 800k+ in my ML's.
And isn't the ML cash random? This is the second ML I've started, the first one I started with 4.4 million, (forgot to save, lost everything, had Muckloak (80) and only costed me 370k ) now this one I started with 5.3
Plus, you need to know how to apply pressure correctly on oppenent's half, I use 18 pressure, and use the R2+Square defending technique, (it makes a AI-Controlled player rush into the opponent, while the player I am controlling stays a bit back if he decides to pass or sprint), you should try to master this, it's very nifty.
Anyway, trying to sign Muckloak, but I just can't. He is soooo cheap (300-500k) and has 80 overall. He would be perfect, since I drastically need to make my defence better.

Did you start with classic default ML line up with such players as Ettori, DoDo and Cinalton or club original line up (which club?)? There is no single player in the default which can be sold easily above 100k. I wonder if these are Pc vs ps3 differences? Now this is weird indeed.
I also use R2+A to pressure with some mixed success. This is good for defending but does not score you goals. It is scoring which is very hard because cpu is uber quick to intercept through passes or jostle you off the ball in or near the box.

Yes, the classic ML line up. This is weird, since Pes 10 that I have sold them for a fairly good price, always end up getting 4-7 million with them. 100k? That's impossible, my weakest player was sold for 214k o.0. Hell, if I found out a way to get a screenshot out of PS3 into here I would.

Man, I am scared to play against teams like Barça, Milan, Real, etc; if I even get in the Premier League top 4 to get a spot in Champions League.. I think I'll be struggling for maintenance on the league for a few seasons, before my team gets strong enough.
This is excellent to hear :D

This too, props to you mate.. Finally someone who plays the game like me :P ..actually SELLING your best players as well for profits. Many ppl tend to hang on with their guys cause they don't want to lose players they are attached to. But I've played at least in the ML beginning a lot in style = Buy cheap, develop -> sell.
This results in better team overally later!

wow, did u buy anything in the shop? cause i saw an option there to start ML with more money
Also does anyone know if unlocking superstar makes top player easy, i have the strange feeling it does.
finally downloaded the patch, cant notice any difference
Nah, the more cash option in the shop gives you 999 Million I think. I certainly didn't start with that.
Anyway back to my last question; any defenders you recommend? I'd sign Muckeloak but I just received the 4th 'no' in a row
^ Try Zanka from fc copenhagen or O. Gill (don't remember which club, but he plays great in defence)
I finally made it to the europa league spots, beating everton 3-2 in a breathtaking match. Now placed as number 7 my goal is to get in to europa league next season (the chairmans goal as well even though it's my first season in div 1 playing as underdog side Fc Copenhagen :))
However i've loaned Bendtner and later signed a permanent contract with him. He's absolutely awesome up front saving me every time
finally downloaded the patch, cant notice any difference
Wasn't the patch just correct line-ups a few kit's and new boots or were you installing patch 1.01?

well on the start screen it now says ver 1.01, checked the madrid line up and adebayor was still there, and he shuldnt be...
man, i am having a terrible season, cant seem to win a match, my players are always bitching about everything, signed a useless RWF that hasnt done anything not worthy, need to sell the bagga off...
i have also realised it is difficult to sign players in div1, while you are in div2, also a player who is having a good season will rarely come down to my whack team.. free agents are the best
Just got promoted after 2 years in D2, after a hard 2nd season I won my last 3 games to go up as Champions. "Yehhhhhhhh!!!" I was thinking. Then once I strengthened by team and got rid of some of the dead wood, I awaited what the Chairman was expecting for me and my group of overpaid, 2 left footed retards, or my Squad as their better known as.
I was thinking the Chairman would say something along the lines of, "Avoid relegation" or "Cement the club as a top flight team" but oooooooooh no. The delusional moron at the head of my very VERY average club want's me to get into the Europa League.
This isn't very realistic to set the bar that high, I'm predicting I'm going to be in a relegation fight and after losing my 2 opening games 3-1 and 3-0, both away thank god, I think my prediction is pretty much dead on.
It's a shame it jumps the expectations so high. If I do reach the impossible and get into Europe, what will he want next year? the Title no doubt.
Still having fun though, and even though I was battered off Arsenal in my opener and beat 3-0 off Aston Villa, there was a lot of positives I can take out of my last game. 3-0 was flattering to the Claret and Blue outfit, with my lads deserving more than what they got.
QPR next at home and I need 3 points in that one to kick start my season.

I can't even sell my classic team players, not even 1 of them, let alone get that amount of money for them.
I have all of them on the transfer list too. And loan list as well.
How did you go about selling them? Do you have transfer frequency set to high? Did you sell them on the very first transfer window when you start the game, or later?
EDIT: ...I didn't realize I registered that long ago. 2004, and 7 years later, my first post. Hahaha.

lol 7 years, wow
my team is getting alot better have won two games, mid season signings are running things, and the team is happy
although we are still at the bottom of the table we are closing on others fast...
Are you in D2 stiker or top league.
I've played 5 games since getting promoted and hmmmm, having a hard time of it. Won 0 drawn 1 Lost 4.
Drew my last game 0-0 against Newcastle. Tempted to knock it down to regular but I know if I do that you can just run 1 player around the opponents half without anybody tackling you, so looks like I'll stick with it.

hi, i am still in D2 season 1, bottom of the table, havent won any matches since the summer transfer window, i am getting worried although my team is much better, lost a macth to 17th place team today, i was so gutted..
7 years later and they still name you as a newbie
Oh yeah, if you fail to get into europe your reputation will decrease and you could get fired

Yeah i don't think that the chairmans expectations matches my players abilities either - In my first season he also wanted me to qualify for the Europa League. I thought forget about it, but in the last fixture i won and secured the 7th place 1 point ahead of liverpool.
Thank god i thought, but now the chairman wants me to get in to "the promised land of champions league" as he puts it!! So i signed one of the most expensive scouts in the game - and NONE of my bids gets accepted. Not even when i try to buy 19-20 year old players from Rosenborg and AIK. Seriously frustrating when the weakest scout out there landed Bendtner for me!
Have played 6 games in the Premier League so far, and i am placed 7th.
In Europa League i have played 3 games one defeat, one draw and one victory - I play 4-5-1 with very wide wingers and counter attack in Europa League since it didn't work out very well with the 4-4-2 tactic like it does in the league.

I will startMaster League today, when I have installed Daymos' option file. Think I might choose Malaga.
Just finished my 1st season in D2 without getting fired, problem is i won only 4 games so lost 2 of my sponosors, players i thot were running things are actually crappy... starting season 2 now with no money, had to release a couple of players to pay salaries...
hope my ass doesnt get kicked out...

The problem is it won't get any much better in the second season. I also won 4 or 5 games and got fired after about 10 games in the season 2 on professional. I restarted ML and had a good streak of 1:0 wins and 0:0 but I am frustrated by not being able to score and started losing again. AI jumps on me and intercepts any through ball or out runs shimizu with crappiest defenders. The best bet is to hope for some weirdo cross finishing, but no satisfaction because I want to score my way. I am also playing another ML in parallel on regular and it is absolutely clear that players stats are dumbed down on professional and cpu is much more aggressive. I wish regular had attack of professional and defense cpu aggressiveness is about right on regular (imo).

You have to play defensive tactics, even if your formations isn't defensive orientated. GET PLAYERS BACK, your active AI will check players runs so when they receive the ball, you can jocky them to hold up their play. When playing in D2, I had to treat every game as a draw, then if I got a win it was a bonus. Defence I found was the key even if you look back at match stats and you have most of the possession.
Then when you get the ball, KEEP IT, move it around from left to right and vice versa, play back if you have to, don't be afraid of using long pass to switch wings, it's a much more useful tool this year. Keep the ball moving in the final third to pull holes in their back line...then the right stick it the key, to get a player to make runs into the box for a chance...not always a goal but at least a shot, or use them as a dummy to open up space for you to have a run and crack yourself.
Don't play a high back line if your using default ML players, if they get past you, your not catching them and Counter Attack is a bitch to recover from.
Don't panic. Don't rush into a challenge. Hold them up till you have players back then try and win the ball......if you miss it then...it's not the end of the world.
When defending, make sure your controlling the right player in the right area of the pitch, if your CB is trying to jocky / close up play at the halfway line when your under pressure, there's something wrong, that should be your CM/DMF. Don't lose your shape.
Think about the above paragraph while attacking but the other way round, YOU WANT THEM TO COMMIT PLAYERS, pull them about with possession, create gaps, look for opportunities to play the cross or though ball, but don't rush... and it will take practice.
The game is good this year. ML offline with the ML default is gonna take a lot of work, I'm not going to be in the Champion's league after 3 seasons like the last few instalments, I like that. I'm getting hammered off Man Utd and holding on to 1-0 home wins against Wolves in my virgin year in the EPL...like it should be.
GOOD LUCK ALL..........
YOUR GONNA NEED IT ;)

Thanks for this insight . I find what you are saying is absolutely right. It is just best to stick with defense if you want to survive. It does require patience. Btw I am following your progress .Lee. How are you doing in D1? Is it the same survaval kind of game? Also when you won your second season in D2 what was the goals scored to conceded ratio for the entire season? The problem is that I am not enjoying so many 0:0 or 1:0 games and was hoping it would change the next season. I am totally fine with defending, but I cant damn score! it does not look it will change in the season 2 or am I wrong? How was it for you in D2 when you seem to have won it? Also is there danger that if you get relegated back to D2 the chairman rating will approach zero and this nut will fire you? What is your current chairman's support level?
in the master league do u need to play with default players
no, buy it from the extra content from the main menu for 100gp(10 offline matches or 2 online games)

Just started a ML, My quest is return Notts Forest to europeon glory.
Managed to bring in a couple of players, My big signing was John Utaka who so far has played 3 games and done sod all!!!!!!
My leading scorer is Hamsun(some crappy default guy) with a huge 1 goal tally.
My keeper couldnt catch a pissing cold.
My stats at the minute are played 5 lost 2, drawn 2 and won 1.
Really enjoying it though.

To answer a few of your questions straight away
Chairman backing:- 44%
D2 ratio goals :- 2-1
And yes I'm finding top flight a survival fight. I'm lucky I guess that I have played Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal all away from home in my first 8 games...lost all as well although I could have earned a point against City, they scored from a corner in injury time which may have been a scripted goal, but I'm not gonna rant and rave about scripting, there better than me and had enough chances to beat me with a higher score than 2-1.
I bought a Brazilian player HAKCATIN, who was in my (List of targets) who is 90 overall and only at a market value of 600k which makes his wage lower than most players of his calibre. He's an awesome AMF, I give him the ball at every opportunity, he keeps it well, can deliver killer passes and has a mean right boot on him.
I still have trouble scoring, so again I'm playing build up play from the back, I'm desperate for a striker who can score goals as most goals I do score come from Corners or a lucky though ball, but I do create chances and my possession is 60-40 even against the best teams, shame that most of that time is in my own half.
I did try to go on a more aggressive approach against Wigan but found myself 2-0 down at the break, so reverted back at half time and clawed it back to 2-2.
My main CF BERIGAUD is 71 overall now, but doesn't score many and he's up front on his own, so I need a finisher.
^ Lee, try out Bendtner. He is awesome. Unfortunately he has put renewal on hold in my ML even though we're placed 6th in my 2nd season in division 1!! :(

Played 12 games with Malaga, currently 4th place.
6 won 2 draws and 2 lost.
Oldtimer van Nistelrooy can still score goals (:
my last 4 games.
Lost Liverpool 1-0 They had 1 shot
Lost Stoke 2-1 They had 2 shots
Lost Newcastle 1-0 They had 1 shot
Drew Sunderland 3-3 They had 4 shots 3 on target.....I was 3-0 up with 15mins to go then none of my players could pass.
Something is seriously wrong here, not sure what's happening. :(
Hope this is just my team having a bad run but the stats don't fit the result. I don't mind the odd match like this but my last 4 games seem to have a result already for me before kick off.
It's like reading a book you have read before and hoping there is a new ending.....There won't be it's already been decided. Shame because I was really enjoying ML

It's like reading a book you have read before and hoping there is a new ending.....There won't be it's already been decided. Shame because I was really enjoying ML
I also have an impression that the result is pre determined! I played on regular and was the 1st place with 4 points ahead after half season suddenly in the 2d half some bs scripting kicks in (or may be i was winning because of it too) and no matter what I can not win. If I scored 2 I would lose 3:2 if I score 1 i would lose 2:1 in last 10 minutes. It feels like the game is even allowing you to score to lead it to the predetermined result in the end. Even my wins of 3:0 or 1:0 seemed like CPU just allowed me to win. Now after sharply going down in the 2d half of the season comes the last game. I am 5th place, but if I win the last one against 2d place I will get promoted. How fkng dramatic!!! Was it programmed that it will be decided in the last game or I truly got into this by accident? I score first and response is 3 shots and 3 goals. I stay in D2 for another year. Ok fine, but was it scripted??? I also had games with 17 shots with half of them on target and still lose 2:1 to cpu with 3 shots on target. I also learned to recognize situations when I know if I allow cpu to shoot once it will be a goal with 90% chance. This is sick when it happens.
Please anyone post here if they got into the same scenario in ML like me. If this happens to others then it is scripted. I hate to think about it because if it is true I will quit playing pes.
phew, made it to seasom 2 without being fired... finished season one dead last with 5 wins, coulda been more but was fooling around in some games where i thot the win was guaranteed... team seems to be ok... nid a left winger though...
i have lost my 1st 2 games which happened to be home games:(
Stingo, i sometimes wonder if the games are "fixed", but do we really think that konami implemented some kind of cheat feature the cpu can turn on and off as desired? :)
I'm not intending to be provoking, i just don't know how this could really be the case, even though i've experienced some crazy comebacks the last 10 minutes i'm 3-0 up and sub an attacker for a defensive midfielder or a CB and set tactics to all out defence - the cpu still manage to draw 3-3. But isn't it just because we make stupid things in defence? pass the ball around in our penalty area instead of just knocking the ball away. Or giving away free kicks? Unfortunately we should never ever make free kicks, as no matter how far out the cpu will score. THAT i really think is a major bug i must say..
shit!!!! i had typed a whole book then pc shut down, o well here goes...
i have found out lofted through balls are more efficient than normal through balls or passes, also dont pass when the a.i. is close to your player because they will out run him or intercept the ball...
also once your are leading with about fifteen mins to go, no body should be allowed in your half, even if it means getting a card, also do not give the ball away, kip passing in your half, if u get cornered clear it and regroup....
lets face it this year's game ML is just cool, A.I. is actually better, they aint no slouch no more, they go all out to win, they aint there to sell peanuts... they are on the field to win... cause to be real, even man u can loose to a championship or league one team if they mess around...
when buying players focus on speed, body balance, mentality and response, else the your player will just be outran , bullied, and useless.... and in addition to these kicking power is a must have for strikers, else they will be passing to the opponent's keeper always, except u r the type that dribbles in to the box then places the ball, me l prefer to shoot...
then it might help to setup the strategy options and have one to allout attack, and another to full defence, cause man, u'll need it at diff points in the game...
has anyone noticed how the players slow down once they realise they cant catch a ball going out of play??? i think that is really cool
man i need a pes playing leave from work...
has anyone noticed how the players slow down once they realise they cant catch a ball going out of play??? i think that is really cool
Yeh it does look realistic, but have you also noticed you can't run when their keeper has the ball. Say he has just caught a cross or gathered a feeble shot, love that word FEEBLE sounds like a cartoon character, you might have a few players in the box and ofc want to get them back to defending preferably, in there own half but you can't make them run untill the keeper release the ball.
And they wonder why ppl are raging about the balance between defending and attacking.
Ok cracks are beginning to show and now I have noticed them I see them all the time. Game needs fixing urgently so I'm going to leave it until it's patched.
Last minute equalizers from freekicks that were never fouls, players deciding at points in the game they don't want to pass anymore, shots that head straight down the middle no matter how you shoot, fowards slowing down to let keepers recieve though passes. Losing and drawing endless matches when you have over 60% possession. The list goes on.
Have fun guys, I'll speak to you all after a patch, lets hope it gets fixed.

Started master league last night. Went for the unmighty lazio!. Played 2 lost 2 Still to score lol. I am enjoying it though. I must have one of the most irritating defenders ever El Hadaki. Twat never moves!. My team has plenty of possession but i seem slow to get in the final third!
lol, the free kicks are an easy fix, just move the keeper to the middle of the post, some1 here mentioned how to do it, i.e hole the L1 + right analog stick to select the keeper, then move him with the left analog stick or cursor (not sure which one), works quite well... just needs getting used to...
yeah stiker, free kicks are easy to stop now because of matdekater(i think). however if you move him too much like i once did, they'll go for the other side especially when it's close range
i'm currently playing defensive with a 4-2-3-1 and it feels great although i am 14th in the d2 league as i get a lot of draws. i had 2 signings as i've only done half a season and i think the chairman is stupid, not because of his weir targets, but because say setting a mission like not to get booked and you do get booked, he says sometthing along the lines of 'now it looks like we're a bunch of wild animals and the blame goes on you'
Gosh this chairman is harsh - is there anyway to fire him and hire a new one

Personaly i dont like you can get fired. atleast you should have the option to turn it of. when i start a ml i dont want to start all over after one bad season. or have a chairman set the goals for the future. cause in ml i want to control that. but thats me
Took over Toulouse and all was well. Bought Granero for round £15mil and everything was dandy lol, well that was about to change!!
Turns out we couldnt afford Granero even though we did purchase him . We couldnt pay the players salaries and thus half the squad were released without my control (all my best players) :crymore:. Even Granero who I literally just spent £15mil on was released for free . I cant even afford to promote any of the youth team. The chairman told me that I must win the next game to save my job! I had 6% backing from him. Not the most desireable start to my ml :gunfire:.
Anyways, I have won the next 3 games with only my reserve team left and am still getting constant messages that my sacking is imminent.
Revillerie is carrying the team on his back if he gets injured, then im gone! :shocking:
I have to laugh at how disasterous the situation is! Oh and no players are improving, they are all declining and I dont know why. My leftback requested the no. 10 shirt. He is huffin after I declined. :D

It is probably not just a cheat feature but rather there are some conditions for certain scenarios to kick in. Those scenarios are not actually as simple as just giving you a goal, but rather applying pressure and scoring with higher (too high?) then normal percentage of chances. It is ok to have this dynamics programmed in but it should not be so much so you can not withstand it at all. Also dynamics should be more sophisticated. Like AI conceding a goal does not turn into superheroes right away but sometimes may actually get upset and even start playing worse. Yet it always starts playing like a god until you score 3 goals (if it happens) and then they may relax. This is way too simplistic. This dynamics is unbalanced and not sophisticated enough. AI becomes also incredibly too lucky than it normally is. Sometimes at 0:0 they can blast five 1 on 1s into the sky, but if dynamics change kicks in they will score all five. Both cases are unrealistic imo (or lets say quite unlikely). This creates this scripting perception because odds to not concede a goal become unrealistically bad for the human player.

I originally planned to go with Ajax but then realised they are in the Champions League (I wanted to start with a Europa League team) so I decided to go with Atletico Madrid. I had offers for Rossi and Cavanni turned down but was successful in a £15,000,000 deal for Scott Parker which strengthens my midfield massively. Currently in negotiation with Torres and Hulk over moves to Atletico as I look to improve my attack. Lost my first training game 3-2 to Olympiakos thanks to some shoddy goalkeeping from Courtiois. Also my players are affected massively by the running glitch when sprinting. Chairman has sent me a mission to achieve qualification into the Champions League (I already had this goal personally anyway) so i'll need some solid performances from my team to get into the Top 4. First game is against Real Sporting and i'll line-up like this;
----------------------Courtios------------------------------
-Silvio----Perea--------------Dominguez------Filipe-----
---------------Parker--------Gabi--------------------------
-Reyes--------------Diego------------------Turan---------
--------------------Falcao----------------------------------
well, got fired again 2day.. started my 4th master league...
and i am not sure i'll continue if i get fired again...
Hey all, newbie to these forums *waves*
I started masterleague over the weekend and first up made some really bad signings and blew my budget, finished 9th on professional.
So i started again with full control of the clubs finances. This time i used the 'list of targets' to sign some better players, bought a new coach, jacked up my marketing budget to 1mill (home match earnings are over 200k per game) and am currently in 1st with about 9 matches to go.
Got to the semis in FA cup and M.United pumped me 4-0 haha. Loving this ML but it can be frustrating at times just because my players can be complete morons, but when you get it right its so sweet. Really looking forward to getting promoted and I have completed every chairman challenge with about 40% support from him.
*edit*
Just reading some people are finding it hard to hold a lead as i am sometimes. My thing is if im leading and 60 mins have passed, i will knock it around till time runs out. Sure its not pretty but when you have such an ordinary squad and are desperate for a result sometimes you have to win ugly.
P.S your first signing should be the best overall keeper from the 'watch list'. Makes a hell of a difference

I can tell already that winning the league is going to be a HUGE ask, after seeing Barcelona demolish their opponents on matchday 1, 5-1! I had an impressive 3-1 victory over Real Sporting to make a good start to my managerial career. New signing Scott Parker had a good debut coming on as a sub and nearly scoring. Overall; very impressed with my team. Still need a striker though, Falcao doesn't seem to be cutting it. Negotiations with Torres and Berbatov have now broken down, however I will continue my negotiations with Hulk, Van Persie and Adebayor and hopefully one will accept.

lol, that really cracked me up, 60minutes???:D nywaze i start from 80th min.. passing around... in my new league i have won 2 games, drew a few and lost a number...lol, but i have a feeling about this new team...
how come u guys have so much money... think i'll beef up marketing next season too
list of targets is really useful for lower teams as it shows you the players that have afforable prices and salaries as well as being easy to sign - i don't care if they are old right know as enyone id better than dodo or giersen. I found ganso as a free agent and easily got him so if know one wants to move to your team, find a suitable player from your lists of targets. This list will be better if you have a better scout(or coach i think?)
yeah getting players is not my problem, i cheap old/young guys from the list, but you guys keep talking millions, and i am wondering what's going one... cause i dont have that much money initially, i usually start with 3million plus...
You'll get enough money after a good first season (plus prize money for tournaments) and a few million with new sponsors.
I spent 1million in fan-club in second season and now I get >1millon for every game at home (even more for important games, like >2million for EuroLeague games). Of course that is also related to team's and player's popularity, but if a similar effect already occurs when you spend that 1million on fan-club in first season...that would be a pretty good start for your first earned millions =) I think that's worth a try (start new "dummy" ML to test this).

Hi guys,
I have a question...is it possible to start a master league with a team that I create. I remember last time I used to create my team...I mean the name, emblem, jersey...
How to do that nowadays??? Any help much appreciated. Thanks
So i finished first in D2 and got promoted :D
I fucked up again though, because i had loaned about 7 players and totally forgot they were on loan.. Luckily i had about 10mill going into the new league so I signed some free agents and invested in my youth team plus new scout, doctor etc. But now my whole squad is different to the one that did so well, its my fault because i wasnt paying attention. My chairman also asked me to qualify for Europe... bloody hell!
Haven't played a game yet but i can tell its going to be a hard slog to even remain in mid table
why do you have to pay for loan transfers - the only thing you pay is their salary
Played 3 games in premier league... lost 2-0, 4-1 (to spurs, they played at ridiculous speed), then went down 2-0 in the 3rd match only to come from behind and snatch a draw in the 90th minute! Awesome
why do you have to pay for loan transfers - the only thing you pay is their salaryHe never said he did. He just forgot that the players were on loan, so after the season -> 7 players gone ^^ The money was to sign new players, not to pay for those 7.
I actually have to pay a transfer fee as well when loaning players. Don't know why, but it has happened several times already. Just signed K. Asamoah and Khrin on free transfers. Really want to improve my squad for next season (hopefully i will be playing CL) Freaking Bendtner has put his renewal on hold for months now! Primadonna.
It's seriously frustrating that i can't do anything - Why can't i offer him a higher salary or goal bonus or anything to give him a new offer?
I would really like to just have the opportunity of trying to keep a player who puts renewal on hold.
tgif... weekend of pes.. hope i get promoted

Hi there, just started ML using panasinnakos on TOP PLAYER.(ps3)
To get some chanllenge,I changed league structure, so in English league some big teams like Juventus, Inter, Bayer are all there, but i cant mix up with French and Spanish teams like Barca or Lyon. Do
not know why, maybe because my PES 2012 is US version.
Just played 1st league away game with Bayer and lost 3:1.
I dont meant to rantting and whinning further more, to be honest,
I must say AI cheats and scripts like hell in that game, it could have been 6:1 as ROBBEN and GOLMES misses 3 1on1 chances.
By reading useful informations on this forum, i used HOLD UP play,
Tackling, cross and square pressure to defend, but none of them
work well, ROBBEN and RIBERRY just Dance through my backline
GODLIKE no matter what i do, if i tackle, they dodge and turn,
if use 2 players to shove and squeeze them off the ball, they just
have the ball glued to their feet as if the ball grow out of their feet,
if leave spaces to them, they just blast a long ranger. They can
always find a weak spot and strike effectivelly with pinpoint accuracy.
In PES 2012, These AI scripted BASTARD players like ROBBEN, RIBBERY, MESSI, C.RONALDO,you name it.... should all be shot and raped for 1 million times to ease PES fans indignation and anger because AI just cheat like no tomorrow to fuck gamers over with nasty scripted goals.
Some ignorant KONAMI asshole programmers just implemented the
GODDAMN AI scripting system to give all gamers a hard time and let
the game just invincible. So its called "chanllenge" which means "losing
time after time". I dont like losing and i never will.
GOTO hell KONAMI if you find this is the way to piss gamers off and
make the game f**king "entertaining", I scored fantastic goals so the
game is good and entertaining not because of AI SCRIPTING SPREE.
Guys If you want to have some understanding of what i meant,
GO TO Exhibition Match, on TOP PLAYER, change players condition
to all "RED UP", and play a away game with Barcelona by using any
team you like. After 5 games, tell me how you feel about it.
My world, this is the most frustrating and irritating PES game i have
ever played even i enjoyed scoring greatly.
My ultimate objective in ML(TOP PLAYER) is to play in CL or Eropa, and
i can beat the shit out of TEAMS like Barcelona, Inter, R.madrid and
score load of fantastic goals. But from what i got in my first lost game
with Bayer, i dont think i can achieve that in PES 12 ML unless i am very very lucky.
For KONAMI poorly designed AI cheating based game, for all lovely
PES gamers, KONAMI goooooo and f**********k yourself, sorry
for swearing, but i must let my true feeling out of my chest.
Once The Elder scrolls SKYRIM is out in NOV, i think i am gonna
play that game and give PES 2012 a rest.
Trainning regime is confusing too, after reading "about trainning" thread, it seems rotating 4 different category will get the best result, will try it out soon.
GOOD LUCK, GAMERS, LUCK WILL BE A DESICIVE FACTOR WHEN PLAYING TEAMS LIKE BARCA OR SPAIN i reckon.
try using r2 plus circle plus x(ps3) at the same time meaning you don't rush in for the tackle buy you hold up and annoy him resulting in them losing possession. also x is used to get out another player of your team to come and help you out. train on this on challenge mode defence which was what i did and if you can get silver, even bronze then you are the master of defence. it took 30mins to master which isn't a lot considering there will be many matches to come.
Also about the cheating scripts, try unlocking superstar difficulty from extra content as that is very balanced. sure it might sound hard but it's easier than top player and like professional without cheating scripts and more tighter man-marking.This is probably because superstar wasn't intended for ml so it has no cheating scripts.

are u sure about superstar? cause i am close to having my ass kicked out... but managing to get some draws and stuff... the problem is my players just dont score... and have very weak shots...
i'll check it out later

(question- on the table if your in the red does that mean your going to be in the Europa league and if your in the blue the Champions league?)
Yes it certainly does.
So i accidently overwrote my ML with my BAL league. I was completely frustrated, but now i unlocked superstar and started over again.
It actually feels much more balanced now. I can win using FC Copenhagen and defence is waaay more easy now i think. Also no more crazy comebacks from cpu when i'm 3-0 up in the 80th minute, and best of all they don't seem to score on every f***ing free kick i conceede.
Has anyone else switched to superstar after playing on top player and noticed these differences?
Yes it certainly does.

will try 2nyt and get back to Us.... really hope i dont get fired cause i am lovin my current team
If you're struggling in top player, try unlocking superstar. Strangely enough, it seems to be a bit easier. Or more balanced at least in my opinion.
- Does anyone play with the "being able to sign the players you want" or what it's called? (unlockable for 600 gp)
i played a ML with swansea, with max funds and easy negotiations, but still could not get some players to join, which is good, because i lie that some players only want to play for CL teams, but when blackburn wouldn't let samba leave i thought it was a joke :( but i'm just putting on a patch and will maybe start one with a championship team with max funds and negotiator. I find it so much better when you can actually sign a few players which aren't free or sh*te. btw i only chose swansea cause they were newly promoted and didn't want a good team :P, i support LFC ;)

Thank you, abu97, R2+CIRCLE+CROSS, got it, will try it in Exhibition Match, i ll also go to trainning chanllenge mode to practise that for better defense.
i already unlocked superstar level, have not tried it yet, but a lot of
people say it is a less scripted and more balanced difficulty level, will
play on superstar level in my next fixture against Juventus.
I played 5 league games so far (TOP PLAYER), 1 draw 4 lose,
the result is as follows: Bayer munic 3:1 Pannasinakos(my team)
Napoli 2:0 my team
Sporting 3:2 my team
my team 2:2 st.petersburg.zenit
my team 1:3 liverpool
My chairman asked me to qualify in next Europa league, shit, there is
no way i can make it on TOP PLAYER level. I am not a good pes gamer,
so now i must lower down difficulty level to superstar or professional,
hopefully things will get better and me not be fired in my first ML season.

I think it looks easier on super star for the same reason people think 1.00 is better then 1.01. In math it is called variance or volatility. You got a random game with certain outcome/ game flow scenario and now you associate that with the level setting while it was a totally random process. Play at least 100 games on both levels and then may be you will be able to accumulate enough statistics to compare. It makes little sense that super star is easier then top player to start with, but it is possible. Odds are 1:20 though.

Another one is to consider the AI (offensively and defensively). I've seen enough soccer simulation games and developments (RoboCup, also as participant) to know that people develop certain algorithms on how to act as offense/defense. The most straigtforward explanation is that the difficulty level sets some kind of noise/uncertainty for those algorithms (you can also call it "randomness") such that with higher difficulty their chance of making mistakes decreases significantly, or say they have better knowledge/perception of the happenings (more precise knowledge -> better AI). One conclusion could be, that the offense takes less risks, and also sees that the defense stays well (which is also because of higher difficulty/AI) which could prevent them from playing a deadly pass now and then. That would make defending look easier.
For the offensive part, as your teammates are "more intelligent", you can probably play better passes, avoid "stupid runs" etc.
But of course, I'm just guessing here either, as you did. And I'm sure we could find a lot of other explanations for it, as we don't know why this_and_that is going on ;)
Superstar is easier? -> Great, good to know. Why? We don't know, just take it as it is and enjoy ^^
Yes it certainly does.
Thanks

That would make defending look easier.
For the offensive part, as your teammates are "more intelligent", you can probably play better passes, avoid "stupid runs" etc.
But of course, I'm just guessing here either, as you did. And I'm sure we could find a lot of other explanations for it, as we don't know why this_and_that is going on ;)
Superstar is easier? -> Great, good to know. Why? We don't know, just take it as it is and enjoy ^^
Thanks. I agree with your point that explains why superstar difficulty may have better (even easier) game play, but it does not prove it of course. However as I stated there is a way to possibly prove it by gathering statistics from many games because one or even ten games might be not sufficient to draw conclusions due to the nature of the game. But the previous poster tried to. This may create more misleading ideas by making others to see things which do not really exist. No offense here.
I am thinking a relatively fair test would be if the same person played an entire season with the same starting conditions on each level and compare objective results such as wins/draws/losses, points, goals scored/conceded plus some subjective comparisons. This can still be biased though because a gamer, for example, may improve during the experiment, but at least it could be much more useful data. I think I myself not good enough for top player or super star level to go through this, but still have a lot of interest. Anyone want to try?
@stingo
my bad, I misread your previous post, as I though you'd try to explain why it might be easier, whereas you wanted a proof that it actually is easier before going after the reason (which is what my post was about) ^^ So there's no contradiction in our statements.
And yes, you're right, one would need some tests to "proove" that statement, and of course it might (or probably will) be biased after a few games (as you mentioned).
But I think more important than the outcome of the games, is to examine the changes in gamplay (which aspect became easier/harder), which would take a lot of effort ^^ Just had that thought, because instead of 20 ML matches you could simply play 20 regular matches with the same teams, with a pre-set condition, so you'd have least biased matches possible...but I doubt that Superstar would be easier than Pro. Only thing I can imagine is that defense gets better in Superstar -> less goals agains you -> better survivability in ML -> appears to be easier. But again, just an assumtion...needs proof ^^
well guys, yesterday nyt, i changed over to superstar.... and here are my stats.. 2 losses 1 draw and 3 consecutive wins, and these wins were against teams in the top 5 on the table in D2 master league
well i bought 2 strikers which were way better than gutierezz, so that could aslo be a factor, but i think i am gona stick with this setting, i have neva won 3 games back to back b4?...
Aslo i could have improved, but i doubt it...
and the draw was after mid season transfer window... so then again could be the players
and the streak continues... although after the fourth win i drew a game, due to me not placing the keeper right on time to defend a free kick...
i think superstar is more balanced
^ I've made a similar mistake. Placing the keeper in the middle of the goal - then forgetting to switch the curser away from him, so i hold the directional button, and he just runs in the total opposite direction!
Superstar is so much more fun for me at least. I lose win and draw, and i've only seen one insane cpu comeback in the last 10 minutes being 3-0 up ending in a draw.
Currently i'm a bit more than halfway through the first season (having started over again since i overwrote my ML with my BAL) i'm placed 3rd in the league, and 3 players just joined my squad 2 of them being loan transfers, since that is the easiest way for me to sign players in div 2. Really enjoying the game now that it's no longer top player :)

feel you on that, i am also moving up the ladder, think i am thirteenth now, myt actually get promoted this season, if i can win enuff games, else next season... but game is more realistic with superstar, aint playin against gods no more...

(PS3)In ML, Finished playing an away game with JUVENTUS on SUPERSTAR level, I won 1:2, haha, its my first ML win, games
i played before are all in TOPPLAYER level and did not win any games.
I will stick to SUPERSTAR level, TOP PLAYER level is a nightmare for me.
Hey Guys, Girls!
Just started my ML experience a couple of days ago, and man- did I miss PES or what?! Coming from a couple of years of FIFA (good but, it's like cardboard-tasteless), I am loving the PES ML. There's just something romantic about ML that FIFA never, ever managed to come close to.
So I'm 3/4 done my 1st season with the rejects of the football world. I play the dutch 4-3-3; point down, with Cinalton-Ordaz-Shinzi(whatever the name) up-top. Ordaz is leading the league in goals for me, he has a decent shot.
I play to win, and 90% of it, is not pretty. Most wins are 1-0. If I get a goal- the other team can forget about 'feeling' the ball ever again. They're not getting it! it's 90% keepaway from there. I still try to score but only if its Very safe. It back fired a couple of times, but I'm now in 3rd place in D2, threatening for the 2nd.
I feel like there is a real team fighting for each other, a gang of rejects and undergdogs uniting to show the world. Little do they know that I'm saving money for next year, and most of them will be sold for a bag of balls.
The only position that I've strengethed is the Goalie. I found that the training cones were more useful than the default duche. I picked up Ikeme, the Nigerian international, who's made some phenomenol saves and won me 5-6 games so far. Well worth the 450k that I payed for him. And those dreaded free kicks at the end of the game- he's got most of them!
I'm aiming to eventually have the best players in the game at their positions, with super talented youngsters as their backup. Should be fun!
I've done one season with everton and my new buys are Shimizu, Palmieri, Ribeiro(legendary at heading at 199cm! from Youth), Eto'o(to add experience to my team), Goetze, Ganso and Voichalerd(18yrs and 88 dribble speed from youth).
I finished 8th and for some retarded reason i got in the Europa League eventhough it says itself you have to be 5th, 6th or 7th. I reached my target so my chariman was happy and he has 36 trust in me. i play on superstar 10mins and i before i verse a team, i go on exhibition mode and look for the team i'm gonna play. i look at their sliders and do the opposite - if they do 15 player supprt i'd do 5 and believe me it works!
Straquilarsi is great in the air and so is G. Cahill and Saha who's a goal-getter but Ganso hasn't impressed in the 2nd hald of the season and is 81. Weirdly all my old players like Distin or Heitinga are increasing probably because of peformance(correct me if i'm wrong) so noone in my team is decreasing.
My team rating is this - 79 attack(C), 75 Defense(C), Tactics 77(C), Speed 83(B) amd Physique 90(A)

(Are there any girls in here? ;) )
^ Exactly. I really enjoy that sometimes i have to struggle in order to land a 1-0 victory. This has never ever been nescessary in any pes game (or fifa game for that matter) Sometimes i have to switch an attacker and bring on a midfielder and change my tactics during the game to defend my narrow lead :) I think the tactical aspects in the game are amazing. I can see the effect right away when i change players/formation/tactics and i love it

I'm shit.
Been playing PES for years and this is the most frustrating one for me yet.
I simply cannot stop them scoring and I have few chances.
I've tried 3 at the back 4 at the back 2 DMs, 3 up front, 2 up front, 4 up front, 3313, 343, 433, 424, 4123, 442, 4231, etc. can't get anything to work. Even worse I decided to just try using real players for Inter, Juve, Fiorentina...still no success. Changed game speed-1, -2, even tried +1 and +2....no help, have used quick counter, possession, all out attack....again no success. Went from top player to superstar and back to top player...no help, even think Top Player is more difficult.

yup, top player is hell, superstar is way more playable, so mayb you should change it back to superstar...
i have issues of my own, any one know a ps3 support forum, my console just goes off at intervals, and starts flashing the red light.... sometimes it goes of about 10 secs after i put it on, or sometimes at the same point during the game (strange, makes me wonder if its a software glitch with the game) sometimes randomly, even during game play. sometimes might take hours, but always goes off... anyone experienced this before?
Can anyone give me information about the club budget?
I start using lazio with euro currency, i only got 3 million euro
I start it all over again using lazio still with euro currency, i got 3,5 million euro
And i start it over again Lazio with USD currency, I got 53million USD:w00t
I don't think it's because I'm using the US version:)
Anyone can explain or share about the club money?
Thanks:)
^ You can change currency in ML options without restarting...what happens with the 53mil USD if you switch to EUR? =)
The difference in starting budget (3 or 3.5) may be related to your youth players. They also vary in rating and salary each time you start new ML

Greetings, very first post in this forum.
i've played PES 2006 and later 2010 on the PC. I always used the keyboard, so i also always felt that my portfolio of skills was a bit lacking. The few tries i had at playing on PES on a playstation were a bit disastrous. Anyway, with the coming of PES 2012, i decided to use a game controller (im using the PS3 controller, with the help of a nice little program) on the pc, so i am now relearning the game, sort of.
So i started a ML on amateur, to get the hang of it. I chose Benfica, the team I support, but using the PES team, with Ordaz and Ettori and the like. Like many of you I hired Palmieri and Shimizu, and also the GK Fatecha.
I used my budget to boost the staff up a notch, and also to investe on youth team.
This paid off by mid season, and in January I spotted a new addition to my youth team, a Belgian CF called Thijs, star player in the making (still only 56 overall). I brought him to the main team, along with Duffy, who proves to be a handy eclectic player used mainly as LB.
The first season was a resounding success, (and I must conclude I should not be playing on amateur… as I managed to not only win D2 but also the Portuguese Cup, but anyway). Ordaz was top scorer in D2, Shimizu was MVP.
With the new bulkier budget I decide to go shopping. I hired a French CB called Rane that has 80 overall (I later found he was a reborn player), I also make a proposal for Maxi Pereira, who is a free agent (having me disbanded the real Benfica…). Maxi is a human dynamo, 90 stamina, decent speed, 82 rating RB.
The second season starts with an even more competent staff, with the focus on developing all my young players. Having won the Cup, I have access to Europa League, where I somehow manage to play a match against Bordeaux Girondins…. Difficulty went up, but again amateur is not a challenge, so I win 99% of games (playing 5 minutes matches I don’t rack huge scores, though).
The mid of the second season comes and wow… Not only do I notice a 16 year old Guti available (reborn star player with 60 something overall) available on the targets, I also get several nice additions to my Youth Team, with about 5 or 6 new players around 70 overall ratings.
As far as player progression goes, it’s not hugely impressive. My overall team strength went up maybe 5 points in each area, but I can’t help notice that a good part of It came from the reinforcements. And those 80’s like Rane and Maxi managed to loose rating… although not dramatically.
So now, im seriously considering start again from scratch, this time on regular. I think the financial management went well and I will try to replicate it.
As far as controls go, I adjusted reasonably well to the new ways, but I’m not sure I have it configured properly in order to take advantage of things like on the fly tactics change, team mate control etc… will have to look further into it.
Sorry for the wall of text, but hey… it’s Master League, a lot goes into it. ☺

Welcome to the forums buddy!
And thanks for you post, it was an anjoyable read!
You don't really have to start a new ML, but I do suggest upping the difficulty :D

So it's just a randomize start condition from pes?
how do you guys get different players in your youth team - my youth team has remained the same or do you need to buy players from youth team so there is space for more youngsters?

lol, quite an entertaining read.. welcome bruv....
des anyone know how i can copy my saved games? looks like i am getting a new ps3 cause i've been hot by the YLOD
ML is super fun: I enjoy every minute of it.. I do get frustrated and pissed off at the dumb lucky gameplays the AI makes but overall I think I'm improving in scoring, tactics, gameplay and DEFENSE! The first 2years were insane I couldn't do much with the team I had... always getting played by the AI, but thanks to those 2yrs of struggling I was able to get better in defending.. I'm still learning as I go.. I went from a ( OFF61 DEF58 TAC57 SPD69 TEC58 PHY67 ) to a ( OFF97 DEF93 TAC89 SPD87 TEC98 PHY91 ) in 3years!! Im half way done into my 3rd season and made huge signings F INZANGHI just joined my squad together with JEFFERSON FARFAN ( Peruvian international) I'm Peruvian so since my team sucks in real life I took it upon myself to create the ultimate PERUVIAN DREAM TEAM! Lol
here is my lineup:
GK. VARVODIC 81 - great goalkeeper
GK. J. SILVA 77 - great goalkeeper but on transfer list
GK. RUSTU 72 - bound to be a LEGEND only 17yr old
CB. BALLESTEROS 83 - rebirth.. great CB
CB. ZAMBRANO 87* - Peruvian international
CB. VESTERGAARD 96 - rebirth massive stats
CB. VIDA 84 - decent players gets me by
CB. PALMIERI 78 - really pissing me off on how he is developing
CB. COTSLOAD 68 - transfer list lol
CB. RANE 86 - rebirth GREAT CB got him on my 2nd season
LB. DERSTROFF 83 - eh! he's alright; looking for new LB's and RB's

AMF. GANSO 87 - because I couldn't afford neymar I had to go with GANSO! lol
AMF. T CUBILLAS 90 - CLASSICS PLAYERS, one of peru's finest soccer players of all time... A must have in your lineup, imo
AMF. ETTORI 72 - transfer list
AMF. MAQUALAO 70 - transfer list
LWF. CRISTIAN TELLO - CREATED PLAYER, plays for BARCELONA B.. I was doing some online research on youth players and I happen stumble on this young player: 20yr old with 78rating .. I recommend you guys google him .. he has done wonder and still developing
SS. KARLOZ 83* - CREATED PLAYERS, ME.. ME.. ME! yup like a PES tradition I had to create myself to lead my team into victory! LMAO started with a rating of 75
SS. FARFAN 78 - excellent kinda STUBBORN Peruvian international overall great speed demon
CF. RONALDO - I'm a big R9 fan and I just signed him at the beginning of my 3rd season.. @ 34yrs old he is doing pretty good 16goals and 3assists A LEGEND even though he's rating is only 82*
CF. F INZAGHI 79* - need I say more! Super stoked! I couldn't get DEL PIERO due to a shitty scout... So I made sure I upgraded my entire staff :)
IM SUPER JUICED for the other half of my 3rd season with F INZAGHI, I love ML and definitely loving the NEW MLO.. like most of you said.. the game is not perfect but I still enjoy playing it.. My GF hates it because all I do is play PES but she is the one that got me the game in the 1st place LMAO!!
...Although my team is good.. the game itself it's an EFFIN challenge I lost to MANCHESTER CITY just now... AGUERO kills it with his speed and tactics.. ROONEY is a beast and I just recently defeated Manchester united for the 1st time and C RONALDO runs laps around my defense LOL I haven't played BARCELONA yet but I'm anxious to..
sorry guys if I'm boring you with all this; but I'm super stoked on PES 12 and ML is one of my favorite features in the entire game. 1st time in the forum and I just wanted to share as much info as I can with all of you, I'm recently getting good at CREATING PLAYERS so I'll be sure to help any of you with any questions you might have.. I created faces for BALLESTEROS, ZAMBRANO, CRISTIAN TELLO ( if you guys are interested in creating this youth speed demon, let me know and I'll post the preset of his face, that I made )

well, got fired again 2day.. started my 4th master league...
and i am not sure i'll continue if i get fired again...
=====
LOL...me too. 4th time getting fired last night.
Though, my situation is slightly different from the rest of you. I'm a unique 'player'. I'm not actually playing the game, just simming them. AI vs AI. Been doing that for a year with this game, but PES 2012 has so far ruined that for me as they've clearly jacked up the destruction.
I used to be able to simulate AI vs AI on Top Player, and succeed. But now Top Player, Superstar, and Professional are all hopeless. My team made it to second season on Professional, twice, and i managed to buy a million dollar coach, goalie, and doctor. 90% of my players were happy and improving, and i still got fired.
Total BS.
With PES 2012 the losses in D2 just pour in. And your team always finishes last. So there is clearly a drastic change in programming from last year.
I think my best season I had about 5 wins and 10 draws on Professional. So I think it still might be possible to succeed on Professional. But with only 3.5 million to play with it's feels impossible.
I have a couple more strategies in mind before i give up on Professional. But I honestly can't believe i'm thinking about changing the setting again. To REGULAR.
LoL...Regular?
lol @ formaggio, that's interesting... my pes carear has been halted for now, got the YLOD, and it very terrible now.. was manageable before.... but now the game doesnt stay on longer than 10 secs....
got a slim 320gig to from a friend who owns a store, and has allowed me to pay in installments, so hopefully i can copy my files and continue the fun....
@Formaggio
Simulating a match is like not participating (even for the players, they develop less than they would if you played). So sooner or later, you will get fired! :/ The fact that you can't fulfill the manager's wishes ("let XYZ play", "no fouls",...) is probably another factor leading to your career-end.

I love simming games. Not sure why. I used to do it with Gretzky hockey back in 1989. So it's something i've always liked to do. Strange, i know.
I have had no problems fulfilling the bosses requests so far. All but the 'promotion to Serie A' have been no problems fulfilling. I know this can be done. It's just a matter of getting through the rough times. Like the dreaded beginning. What makes it hard is the strapped budget. In PES 2011 I started with 120 million. I refuse to use that maximum funds setting.
Players develop fine. No different than the last game.
I'm trying a fifth time. One more time on professional. This time i kept everyone from the original squad line-up, except for the ones i have absolutely no spot for, and the ones who are too old. Brought in a couple youth team players.
With the remaining funds i hired a million dollar scout, a 500 thousand dollar trainer, and a somewhat skilled player from targets. That leaves me with $477,000, which I'll use to try and convince a skilled player to come play for me, once the better scout kicks in during the season.
I was going to put 200 grand into marketing, but i'm not big on marketing unless the team is half decent. I want to try one last time on professional.
Hope you get your computer going, Stiker. I'd go mad without a decent computer to run my favorite games. :D
Payments would do me fine.

Hey, Stiker, check this out...
I got fired for the 5th time.
:D
So the way they have the game set up, they've obviously made it too hard to succeed in my AI vs AI matchups.
I think the main problem is the 3.6 million they start you out with. That's 116.4 million less than last year's budget. A budget that low is impossible to overcome.
You'll get fired for sure and you'll never get out of Division 2.
Because the AI is better, you'll rack up more losses much quicker than last year. So unless you can quickly build a team that is better than your division 2 opponents, you're screwed. Because the boss sends out his first warning about 3/4 of the way through the first season.
With so little money to spend, it just isn't possible.
So I'm going to cheat a little as an experiment. I'm going to start with 120 million by ticking off the 'max money$ settings'. I'll keep track of the funds myself.
They should have just added a starting bank account option. 3.6 million is welfare when it comes to professional football. You'd be lucky if you could spend that on new grass and a visitor's suite.

This somewhat proves the point that players stats are dumbed down for your team on professional and higher. If you play yourself you can deal with it by playing smarter, but if you just sim matches then you have no means to overcome that disadvantage.
Well, isn't that just the way it is supposed to be? I mean you start with a team averaging ~60 in ratings. Almost the lowest of all. Why should another team playing with the same AI but with higher rating loose, except the tiny little "randomness" chance, or if you play yourself and (as stingo said) be smart?
The starting budget of 3.5 mil is fine, and pretty realistic for a very small amateur team. It gives you the choice to start with better staff, or buy 1-3 decent players for a beginning. Play a decent season, and you end up with up to 20mil for second season (cup earnings, new sponsors, selling 1-2 good players). Enough money to get a big boost, especially at mid-season with all the reborn players.
ML is about building up your team and become successfull someday, what's the point in starting with 120mil? ^^
I sim'd 3 seasons very quickly in 1-2 hours, just for testing. Only trained conditioning, and skipped right to the end of the season (1 stop at trading period) to save time. Had to play 6 matches to save my ass from getting fired. At the end, I ended up with a decent team, avg. rating 80 (need to mention that they were all pissed and wanted a trade ^^) and placed 5th. Would've done a lot better if I played myself, or used better training, etc. Still, my manager wants to fire me ^^ Seems like sim-ing gets you fired somedy anyhow.
It's ML, not Be-A-Manager, though I'd really like a Be-A-Manager mode with just managing the team. Konami should add that as an online feature...being able to set your team free for others to manage (training, trades,...)...I'd like that ^^

Well, compared to PES 2011, a lot has changed. I don't need 120 million to succeed at doing this. I think i only need about 3. But I wanted to experiment.
Anyway, something seemed wrong. The way the losses were just piling up. It was too drastic to be normal. Worst defense and worst offense in the league for 5 straight seasons. Worst team on the planet? No way. Not after simming PES 2011 on top player since last Christmas.
They have to at least give you some victories! -lol
I said piss on the 120 million experiment, because i knew i'd succeed. D2 teams can't compete with elite staff members and a couple solid players, so instead i uninstalled the game, reinstalled it with my patches, and started over.
I don't know, i built a team and tinkered with some settings that i never used before. i don't know what happened during this whole process, but the game is playing completely different now. The games are exciting and close. My team looks competent on the field making plays. This is pretty much the same damn starter team i built the last five times.
No idea what's going on. But the way the game is playing now is nothing like the past few days of watching 4-0, 4-0, 2-0, 3-1, 3-2, 5-2 losses over and over and over again.
We'll see how it turns out. Hope whatever the hell i did works, because i won't be able to stomach the sight of $999,999,999,999 across the top of my screen.
God, i'd have to buy FIFA. Blech....And then jump a bridge.
Hi. I've got a different situation than most of you. I'm playing with Arsenal club lineup on Superstar and doing fairly well. I've only just started, but my games thus far have been solid and my goals would be maybe CL playoffs, Cup semis and League top 7. I doubt I'll win anything, because the odd loss still ruins standings hard.
The problem is that I might have ruined my finances tho, I'm not sure. I sold a few original players and offered professional contracts to some classic players, who, while free to sign, are now costing me millions in salary. So I'm looking at around 10 games played (I've payed this year's expenses), finances at 45 mil and next year's expenses at 120 mil.
How much can I expect to make in a season if I satisfy my aforementioned goals?
Formaggio
03-11-2011, 17:08
Sounds like you'll have to cut costs! That's a huge jump in finances!
And by cutting costs you'll likely cause yourself other problems. It gets out of hand very quickly. To the point the team is completely unmanageable. Then fired again. ~lol
You'll have to accept a drop in the standings. Then a small rebuild.
Not sure what to make of PES2012. The outcome is still the same. Fired.
Changing the difficulty settings do nothing for me. By season 2 or 3 I still get fired, playing the way i do. The only way to play the game my way would be to give myself more money.
Shame. PES2011 worked perfectly for me.
I noticed far too many goals are being scored now. They score fast and furious. In bunches, and as they please. Feels rigged. But goalies are not responsive enough. Even goalies in their 70's look below average. Season 2, Division 2 and they let goal after goal in. Hahaha...
That never happened before.
This new 'Coach Mode' is bad, too. Last year's system was 100X better.
Amazing to me that a division two offense can split your defense like an elite force. One other thing that bugs me is that goofy dribble the players do. You know the one, the little trot they do, where they take the ball and tippy-toe in some unforeseen direction for like 10 seconds before coming to their senses.
Or how about the one where they are approaching the goal head-on. And just before the 18-yard box they go into that funky half-feint, half whatever the hell it is. Slowly approaching...defender backing up...slowly approaching...defender backing up...
That goes on forever until finally, bam, the defender lunges and checks him. Or he just shoots wide. -lol
Retarded. They gotta get rid of stuff like that.

I was reading about football money to see what's fair.
A couple of million pounds would probably buy you any one of 30 of the 48 clubs in the lowest two professional English leagues and any club in the Blue Square Premiership (one division below League Two).
A million pounds could probably buy you any other football club below that standard (semi-professional) with a freehold ground, maybe more in London and surrounding areas, while a semi-professional club with no freehold property could probably be obtained for as little as £100,000.
In other words, 3.6 million is a friggin' joke to try and take over and finance a D2 squad. You'd have to double that to be even remotely fair.
I'm done with this welfare budget. Going to edit my Master League funds with MxSoNic's patch tool.
The question is, what is fair...
10 million sounds more than fair to me.
@sup bro
Don't give up yet! ;) First of all check your current sponsors. Playing with the original team usually means getting huge amount of money from them. And with a solid played season you can expect to get a few more sponsors next season, usually with even higher payoffs.
The classic players you just signed can usually be sold a lot higher next season, gives you a nice boost for your finance (and decreases expenses -> double win).
Depending on your fan-base, success and marketing spendings, you gain a lot of money each home game. I guess it should be more than 1mil for Arsenal each game.
Well played tournaments (FA Cup, CL/EL) and the ranking in PremierLeague at season-end should also give a lot of money, though I don't know exactly how much (not that far in the game yet ^^), but I'm sure you can google it ;)
@Formaggion
Nice, thanks for the summary =) But did you consider, that player salaries etc. are a lot lower in PES than in reality either? I.e. I could easily sign Neymar for less than 4mil. So I still think it's pretty fair ^^ And you said it yourself, you'd only need ~3mil to succeed.
If you want to experiment, start with an original team! =) You can still sell them all and buy lots from default team from youth. And you'd have a lot more money then to start with =)
got another ps 2day, copied my saved files from the old one, and i says it isnt mine wen i tried to load it in the new console... oh well.. looks like i am starting over
Sponsors+home games should give me around 15+30 mil, putting me at 90, leaving me 30 mil short. I suppose if I get decent results and maybe unload a couple of good players, I'll be fine... until next season when I'm at 0 and need to raise 100 mil :D Then again if the sponsors start coming, I might be ok.
Thanks for the help.
Btw how much money can I expect from fan club income and merchandise sales? My marketing budget is 10 mil.
Sell 1 or 2 classic players for good money (value increases if they play), and you might be fine already ^^ Sponsors should give you more. I started with a Bundesliga team (OF) just for testing and had 17mil from sponsors. Now at the 2nd season (started with default team) I already got 4 new sponsors and get total of ~12mil. I think with Arsenal (good team, lot of fans) in PremierLeague and solid season you might get a lot more. Well, you'll find out ^^
Don't know about the merchandise. Simulate the season and you'll know =)

I finally found the perfect balance in Master League for simming AI vs AI matchups.
Not Beginner setting, but Amateur setting, one level up.
Don't laugh, it's still hard!
I cannot believe what they've done to this game. But now I know what the problem is now. The defense.
The defense is so tough that my computer controlled players can't break through for a goal. Rarely do they put up more than one goal. Nine times i've been fired on top player, professional and regular settings using the 3.7 million they give you. And every season it's been no contest. Total destruction.
My team is always in last place, with very few goals, yet my defence has been the best in the division more than once.
Saying that, trying to take on the challenge of trying to build a team on less than 4 million dollars makes it impossible. I know for a fact that if you try to play this game the way i do, you can't build a team that will break that kind of defense on 4 million dollars. There are too many things to spend your money on.
You could spend that entire 4 million on three good forwards and you'd still finish last. With the worst offense in the division.
PES2012 is unbalanced for AI vs AI matchups because it's made to stop us. No question. However Amateur setting is properly balanced for the AI to take on each other.
And it still remains a challenge. And fun, too. If you're into simming matchups.
This concludes my mad scientist experiment. Now complete.
I'm a happy camper because i can still play this game.
Buono Come il Pane.
at amateur and regular, the cpu run slowly, rrarely ever threaten you. Superstar is more better and realistic so it's probably that you can't score goals and create chances. I use my fifa tactics on pes 2012, pass from cmf to rmf to lmf until i find gaps which i can use to cross or thorugh ball
True, but I think you can't appy that to sim'ing games (@abu97).
@Formaggio
Thanks for the advice! Will try sim'ing with "amateur" setting sometime =)
You're right, the problem is the defense! You could already see that in all the promotional videos where Konami "praised" their Active-AI stuff...it seemed so nice because the defense was crap(!). Yep, I see it exactly the other way ^^
I think the problem with sim'ing is, that the offense has a pre-defined "set" of actions it can execute, and the defense knows that set and can react accordingly with about ~0ms reaction time (wich it can't when you play yourself and with that add some randomness/unknown_situations to it). So it would seem like defense is unbeatable, but it's just because offense AI is not "creative" enough. As you see (mentioned a lot in here), you can beat defense AI on any level when you manually play. Anyway, I think we can all agree that it's definetly not well done ^^
i'm currently on my second season of ML, i started it with QPR, and straight away made a few signings Reyes, Muamba & Gomes. The first half of the season didn't go too well and i was sitting 18th at the mid-way point. So I then thought i need some changes to stay in the league so i went on to sign Djourou, Barkley, M. Davies, Andy Johnson, Paulo Ferreira & the legend that is Diego Milito. This was then a pretty tight unit, got a bit more solid at the back and could finally score a few goals (even though my top scorer ended up being Taarabt). I finished 15th at the end of the season with a run of 7 losses between playing all the big teams :(. Over the summer transfer period i wanted to strengthen my team from the back, so for my defence i signed Alex, Samba, Richardson, Dawson (the young one from albion not spurs), Hanley, Samba is amazing in the game. I then went on to phase 2, a little bit more creativity in the middle, so i signed Poli (from inter), Gibson, Brunt & Seb Larsson. Brunt and Larsson are amazing on my wings and can both score crackers. Then i wanted to give Milito a bit of cover so, in phase 3, extra fire power, i signed Welbeck & Briand. Now this team is totally different to the one of last season, it's more solid at the back and alot more free-flowing.
The starting XI and bench in my last game looked like this:
Gomes
Ferriera - Alex - Samba(c) - Richardson
Larsson - Poli - Gibson - Brunt
Taarabt
Milito
Bench: Bracigliano, Wright-Phillips, Djourou, Barkley, Reyes, Welbeck, Muamba.
I currently lie 4th after 5 games, next up Chelsea away!
Hi all,
I started off editing the leagues (as I usually do) and created a “super league” with the likes of Barca, Real Madrid, United, Chelsea, Juventus et all in the top flight (English League.) I then put a few really decent teams in Division 2 such as Swansea, Everton, Sunderland etc along with my team – PES United (Changed to FC United).
I quickly realised this was a huge mistake. Like most, I’ve been playing on the highest player setting for the last 10 years. Not this time. Started with the originals and got hammered every game. Even when I changed to professional it was too much.
I reset the leagues and started again on professional – far better. Still really struggled my first year – only Ordaz and Shimizu stood out. Palmeri was nowhere near the standard of games past, but that’s probably due to my bad defending! Finished 12th in D2, got far better towards the end of the year, figuring out the defending.
At the start of the second year I really panicked – I chose “No” on controlling the team’s finances, big mistake. They hadn’t even given my enough money to cover my wages! Luckily I managed to sell Ordaz and bring in a couple of players. Ayete (sp?) was a great signing up front for me, along with Musa (RMF) and Mezange (CB). Can’t remember if I brought anyone else in that year, but it wasn’t half as many as I wanted. Anyway, I managed to finish top in my second season by quite a distance, having managed to get a handle on the game in a decent 4-1-2-1-2 formation (Back 4, holding DM, two wingers, SS/AMF and two CF). Division 1 here I come!
As I said, Ayete scored a shed full and I sold him at the start of the new season to bring in some more funds. Was hoping for far more money in my third season, didn’t get it. I sold Shimizu for 2 million to Valencia and that helped a lot! Brought in Ledisomer (LMF), Bradley (CM), Tolozken (CM) and Bebe (United - CF). May have got a few more – can’t really remember. I really struggled against the top sides but Ettori and Fatcheta stood out, along with the players I brought in. I beat most of the sides around me, Everton, QPR, Sunderland etc but lost to Spurs 5-0, United 4-1 and other top sides. Managed to beat Liverpool 2-1 away and draw 1-1 at Arsenal. Other than that, it was hard work against the top 6! I played a 4-2-2-2 formation, with two DM, sacrificing my SS/AM. It worked for the most part. I went into January in 7th position, just one point off a Europa League spot. In January I sold Bebe for 1.5million (top scorer) and Bradley for another 1.5million. Managed to sign Yetes (16 year old CB), Kolozwick (16 year old CB), Hasan Ereby (72), Tiago Barros (LB/LMF), F. Rodriguez (CF) and another CF, whose name escapes me. Also brought up Michel (CM) from the youth team, a good player for a rating of 62. They were inspired signings and improved my team a lot. Rodriguez scored in almost every game, supported by a SS with a Y surname, can’t remember who (77 rating!)? My back four went from Ruskin (62) – Pameri (68) – Mezangue (69) – El Mourkari (71) to Barros (69) – Yetes (72) – Kolozwick/Hasan Erby (72) – El Mourkari (71). That helped a great deal. Didn’t have much back up for CM, but Ettori and Tolozken did well. Ended up 6th in the league, 5 points clear of Spurs.
I’m just about to start my 4th season – they’ve improved my club doctor etc (all now on 1 million salaries) and given me 25 MILLION! I was delighted – gone from barely covering my costs to getting 20 million to spend on players!
I made a few great signings this morning – all ranging from 76 – 89, I’ll post my final squad later on. I’m hoping I can challenge the top 2, really aiming to get into the Champions League and win the UEFA cup.
i played a ML with swansea, with max funds and easy negotiations, but still could not get some players to join, which is good, because i lie that some players only want to play for CL teams, but when blackburn wouldn't let samba leave i thought it was a joke :( but i'm just putting on a patch and will maybe start one with a championship team with max funds and negotiator. I find it so much better when you can actually sign a few players which aren't free or sh*te. btw i only chose swansea cause they were newly promoted and didn't want a good team :P, i support LFC ;)
I'm a Swansea fan...
If you didn't want a good team you could have chosen your mighty LFC ;)
We outplayed you on your own patch the weekend!

well that's not exactly what i meant :P, because for some reason on the game, liverpool are in the CL, and i didn't want a CL team, so i chose a newly promoted team, didn't want QPR cause i thought their team was already quite good, and i just prefered swansea to norwich :P

I spent most of my 20 million on Caicedo - 4.5 million transfer fee and 1.5 million in wages! Worth it though - he's brilliant. I've played 3 games this season, drew 0-0 at Sunderland (played most of last year's team due to internationals), won 3-1 against Spurs (they scored a FK for 30 yards...player on the line...no chance, bar and in) and then won 1-0 away against Wigan (missed loads of chances - scored from a corner with a header).
Really enjoying this season so far, I'm dominating games far more and always feel like I've got a goal in me. Don't feel as shaky at the back either - the last three seasons have really helped my defending and with better players I feel I have a decent chance against teams. I lost 5-0 to Spurs at home last year, this year I won 3-1 and it could have been 5-0 to me. Adebayor tore me to shreds last year but I outmuscled him quite easily with Palsehin. I'm gutted I can't play Sutter (84) in a back four with Ita (90), Palsehin (84) and Addy (84) but Hasan Erbey (72) is still good enough at CB. Addy and Ita are fantastic at full back.
If you're struggling to get to grips with the game, I'd say the best thing to do is ride it out. I feel like this every year - I get so annoyed with the first season or so of ML but now I've got quality players in and can challenge the top 4 it feels so much more rewarding than just starting off with United and winning the league straight away. I play on -1 on professional and it's working really well. Last year I played on +2 on top player! The game this year is so different but so much better in my opinion.
I'm looking forward to seeing how I can rotate the squad and keep everyone happy (a few players are already complaining - prima donnas!). Hopefully I can go far in the Europa League and finish in the top 4. Seeing as the best players of last year are left then I'm sure the likes of F. Rodirguez can step in and do a job if need be.
Has anyone had similar games? Anyone bought the same players?
Nice post mate. Sounds like you're enjoying the game.
I play on superstar as FC Copenhagen. Finished 2nd in div 2 after struggling a lot in the first half of the season. Then a couple of loan transfers did the job and i won the last 4 matches that season. Thanks to Dame N'Doye who scored 17 goals in 29 matches and Roux as well i secured promotion. Then i was forced to sell N'Doye for 4 million euro since i needed the money, and because i'm looking to create a team with only scandinavian players.
I decided to play in the french league as div 1, and i'm struggling more than ever. Think there's around 6 matches left, and i'm 13th in the league even though i've made some decent signings. However after the patch it seems easier to defend now, so it might get better next season when my new signings start to develop their teamwork etc.
Would really like to know what formations, strategies, tactics etc. people are using to beat the cpu?
Is there i tactics thread or should we make on perhaps to seperate the topics?
All out defense - Use the all-out attack tactic and formation on simple settings
Possession Game - Use the long-ball or all-out defense tactic and formation on simple settings (If the coach says it's best to stick to our strengths than their weaknesses, use long-ball. If not, use All-out Defense)
Quick Counter - All out defense tactic (If it says they use the physical route 1, then use 'out wide(Defensively)'
All-out attack - All-out Defense tactic and formation on simple settings
Long-ball - Use Possession Game tactic and formation on simple settings
Btw, Rasmus, which league are you playing in so i can give you more tips on tactics?

how do you guys get different players in your youth team - my youth team has remained the same or do you need to buy players from youth team so there is space for more youngsters?
Hi Abu97,
In JANUARY midseason transfer window, CHECK Youth team, some
NEW players will show up. Youth team players who are 20 years old
(or over) have gone or will be gone and new players will replace them.
But some players who are already 20 yrod are still in the Youth team
playerlist..... , dont know why.
I dont think you need to sign youth players to make spaces for NEW
youth players to come up.
IMO, most of NEW youth players are not worth signing because of their
poor OVR stats, especially if you have maximum team funds, LV5 scout and activated master negotiator, there is no need to cultivate or nurture youngsters who will take years to develop well, just buy some
existing talented young players like SANTON, DAVID LUISE, trust me,
they worth the high transfer fees you pay for.
^^^^^^Thanks, very appreciated.
I also found out that a new youth team doesn't come at your first season
In terms of tactics, I'm playing:
-------GK--------
RB - CB - CB - LB
----DM ----------
-------CM--------
RMF-----------LMF
------SS----------
---------CF-------
Works quite well, I just use quick counter default most of the time. I hardly ever man mark, only when the opposition have one main target man e.g. Bent. I mark them with my DM.
I always play keep ball around the 75-80 minute mark if I'm only 1 goal up and tend to sacrific a CB for a AMF/CF in the last 15 minutes if I'm losing.
My general tactic is to just play into space...wide, central, wide...look to play it to my CF/SS feet, turn and shoot. If there's no space I look for the 1-2 wide and hard and low cross (not as effective this year). I shoot from freekicks about 25 yards out, any less and I'll pass it around. Never lump it into the box, apart from corners.
Update on my game:
Drew 1-1 at home to West Brom, ugh, then got beat 2-1 away at Panathinaikos when I didn't deserve to be. I feel like I'm becoming too complacent, I don't know the new players well enough too and just think they're good enough without getting the basics right! Hard to adjust to using good players sometimes! I also think my squad is too big...saying that I have 3 games in 6 days soon!
I scraped past Villa away 1-0, which felt great, but I still didn't really play well enough. Fourth in the league at the moment, on course so far! I want to challenge for #1 really but don't think that'll happen this year. Dropped too many easy points already.
I love these spells in games where you struggle for 10 games only for it to click and go on a winning run - it's very realistic in the sense that you can be a world beater one game and bottom division strugglers the next.

^^^^^^Drenthe is a great player. Try using him for long shots and crosses as he is soooooo deadly. The only person i can rely on in my team if I need a goal in the last min or i have a corner in the last min

Btw, Rasmus, which league are you playing in so i can give you more tips on tactics?
Thanks Abu. French league. almost every team play with 3 strikers.
I restarted ML because i accidently overwrote my ML with my BAL. So unlucky - How ever it seems like Premier League was waaaaay more easy than French League!
Hah, i accidentally overwrited my Bal (I made a rare player wuth an OVR of 72) with my ml
i seem to be improving, goin steady in d2, should get promoted soon... no complaints from the chairman yet, although i finished season one a lowly 16th...
got some promisin players but now cant settle my bills :( need to release em...
Came back to PES 2012 yesterday after a break, waiting for a new patch, so after I installed patch 1.02, or whatever it's called, I started up my ML from where I left off.
I'm finding the passing a little better, the weight of the ball seems much more realistic, which is also noticeable when shooting. The Refs don't seem to blow at every challenge although the dodgy freekicks are still there that my opponent's seem to get in the dying minutes of games.
I have only played about 5 games, but from what I have seen, it does seem to be an improvment over 1.01 and 1.00.
Beating Chelsea 2-1 at the Bridge is my highlight match, my LMF Bullot scoring a rocket from 25 yards out which came off the crossbar and in to get me level, certainly made me punch the air in delight, before Heeders coming off the bench to score the winner with minutes to spare.
Wasn't all sunshine and rainbows though, getting beat for the 2nd time this season off Man City, this time at home and only being able to pick up one point off both Wolves and Villa, keeps me in 15th but 10 points off the drop.
My Chairman is being his delusional self asking me to play my 3rd place keeper for at least 30mins which I did against Chelsea and after he let the 1st goal in after 6 minutes, then Chelsea hitting the woodwork twice more with him rooted to the spot on both occasions, I decided to make the switch to my number 1 keeper.
Not seen too much scripting yet although it's still there. But if I start playing too many games where opponents Shot to goal ratio is 1:1, it might be time to put PES 2012 to bed for good. Don't mind the odd game like that as it can happen, but before I had my little break last time I went 4 or 5 games where teams were having the exact same amount of shots as goals.
Playing with Portsmouth FC.
-Season 1-
Started with 4 million (2 million when you remove the club operating cost).
Invested in athletic coach lvl 3 (1 million guy) to have form up and win more games. :)
In my first season I won the Npower championship and somehow magically won the fa cup in final against arsenal (played this season on professional with 1.01 patch). :D
-Second season-
Playing on top player and with jenky's patch in second season. :)
With money earned in 1st season, in 2nd season i hired all lvl 5 staff except doctor and scout (lvl 3) and invested lvl 3 in youth team and fan club.
Currently 10th in Premiership in my second season in February. :)
Managed to reach Europa League knockout phase on goal difference thanks to Valencia who beat me far less then Sporting or Valencienes. :) THX Valencia for selling half the team! :P

A few days back into PES2012 after patch 1.02.
I've gone through the mid season Transfer Window. Decided to stick to what I have rather than trying to solve problems in areas I felt needed work. Want to save a bit of cash for the end of the season.
But now some of my players are knitting together well, passes are sticking and being played into the players runs, rather than losing possession because the ball is played behind them rather than into the path that they are running in. Dare I say it "Sometimes it's free flowing football"
So here is my question my PES gaming friends:-
The longer you own a player, does that improve the way he WORKS with his teammates?
I hope so because some of my guys are really clicking now, especially in the final third. Although I'm not scoring as many as I would like, some of the moves I'm pulling off deserve a "Replay Save" themselves.

Yes, the longer you own a player, the more his teamwork stat increases. However, if he isn't playing frequently, his teamwork stats will go down.
Also, if you didn't know, teamwork stats means how well a player connects with his teamwork.
So if you want to improve teamwork, play your players constantly
Just got to the January transfer window. Playing some great football and getting excellent results - it may be time to move up to Top Player. I'm enjoying things at the moment so don't think I will.
After losing my first Europa League game to Panathinaikos, I won the next 5! The other two teams in my group were against AZ and Saint-Étienne. I hammered St Etienne 8-0 away from home! However, the following game I lost 4-1 at Arsenal so it's certainly not plain sailing for me on Professional.
I'm currently second in the league, 2 points behind Chelsea, having lost 3 games, drawn 3 and winning the rest. I've qualified for the Europa League latter stages and I'm in the Semis of the England Cup.
Highlights include:
Beating Man City 3-2...I was 2-1 down at half time but managed to play really well in the second half. The first real sign that I felt I could challenge the top 2/3.
Coming back from 2-0 down away to Arsenal and win 3-2 in extra time in the second round of the England Cup. Scored on the 85th, 90th and 98th minute. Played keep ball for the rest of the game! I rested most of my first team too.
Coming back from 2-0 down to United at home in the league, drawing 2-2 with a 90th minute equaliser.
Winning 8-0 away to St Etienne as above, along with beating Swansea 4-0 in the England Cup Quarter Finals with a second team.
Winning 5-0 at home against Norwich after losing 4-1 to Arsenal away.
Reasons I've gone on a run? Mainly because I've changed to a 4-3-3 formation, with a flat back four, a CMF with a RMF and LMF playing in more central positions and playing a LWF, RWF and a CF - that way I've got three overlapping wide players, but my RMF and LMF can stay central or push wide.
Also realised that I can't play with Caicedo up front - he doesn't make the intelligent moves that Federico Rodriguez does. Rodriguez has scored loads for me, despite being a 72 rating, 10 below Caicedo. I've played Caicedo wide and started Rodriguez pretty much every game. I've just sold El Moubarki for 500k and bought Roux (CF) for the same price. Won't make any more signings though. I leave out better players too, C. Benitez, 78 rating, doesn't get a look in because a SS doesn't fit into my style of play anymore. I play with the players I'm most comfortable with. I think that's important.
Noted that my youth team are really good now - I've got players in the late 60s and early 70s - but they just won't get in my squad! Thinking about promoting a CF and LB who are rated 71 - but they'd even be 3rd choice, and no doubt the chairman will want me to play them in a big game.

yup just like abu said, just notice when u sign a new player his teamwork starts are usually lower than 50 or slightly higher, it then develops as he plays, and more importantly, as he connects with the team, i.e, passes thru balls, etc
got another ps 2day, copied my saved files from the old one, and i says it isnt mine wen i tried to load it in the new console... oh well.. looks like i am starting over
Hi Stiker, this happened to me with the option file, If you copy it to the PS3 then copy back to a USB stick then delete the one on your PS3 and copy back from the usb that may solve the problem.
it worked for me with the OF
Good luck

Start off with default players and 5th season in. Caicedo is decent but no where as good as my best striker Giroud even though Belhanda is my top scorer (this guy is a monster)

thanks man, i'll give it a shot!!!
After pretty much ruining my finances the first two tries, I've restarted with Arsenal once again, club lineup, but this time I made no buys at the beginning. I just got rid of a few bad players and went from there. Finances are looking much better and the play is decent. I did fall out of the English cup after the first game against a really bad D2 team tho (lead 1-0 and in the last 10 minutes conceded a ridiculous own goal and a nuts FK, lol).
CL was epic. I was 2 points behind second place (PSG) and had the last game against the weakest opponent (Fenerbahce at 1 point) while PSG played a dominating Juventus. At 70 minutes I was 2-0 down, losing all hope, then Chamakh scored. 85 minutes, Chamakh makes it 2-2 and I'm thinking, well this disappointment is gonna hurt. Last minute of injury time, I'm sliding wildly to tackle the ball in their half, Arteta succeeds 10 seconds from the end and hits a wonderful bomb towards the top corner that is saved. I get a corner kick and Szczesny (GK) heads in the winner from the bar. I then learn that PSG tied and I'm third on goal difference with PSG.
I've still got the English league (holding 3rd) and Europa league to play tho. Feeling good.
I would play in the english league, la liga or serie A because in the french ligue or eredivisie, to get a champions or europa league spot is harder
English league is hard as well, but i'm certainly struggling in french league. Finished 13th first season in div 1 and now i've played 6 matches and i'm placed 12th.
How ever i managed to win the cup, so i'm in Europa League where i'm 1st after 2 matches - one draw and one victory.
well, downloaded the patch last night, got fired again, so started a new campagin... still havent noticed any difference..

I stopped payin pes. So thats it for pes. Passing and shooting is broke. And the ml is just boring. Next year im not pre ordering it or buy it on release. Ill wait till its half price. Damn you pes.
lol, take it easy @ boca....
I have to agree with Boca, after a bit like pes 2011 stupid deflections resulting in own goals and stupid passes going away fromt he player you aimed it to does your head in a lot, especially in master league where the game is scripted and rigged
IT'S ALL STARTING TO COME TOGETHER
With my day off work today, decided to have a lazy "Lets play PES" morning. Finished last season in 15th place in the league although the last half of the season, I went from 19th to 15th which was a good climb out of the relegation zone.
My players had really started to work well together, tackling seems to work as more of a team effort if I man mark the main CF, if my coach has told me he's a threat, or if the threat in a midfielder make sure I can double up on him.
Didn't buy anybody in the summer my squad is 29/32 strong and even though I have a lot of poor/average players, the're playing well together so I boosted my coaching staff instead.
8 games into the new season and I'm 2nd in the league behind Man City W6-D1-L1, with my team looking dangerous against most teams I play. Plus to make the season start even better I beat City in an epic 1st round cup game on penalties after drawing 2-2 twice going infront.
Still playing my 4-1-2-1-2 formation with 2 SMF a CMF and AMF in midfield. But now I can keep the ball better than ever before, holding the ball around the 18 yard box to pass and probe for opportunities to score.
Whether I stay up at the top remains to be seen, but with this being my 2nd season in the top flight, it's a much better start than I could of imagined.
well, downloaded the patch last night, got fired again, so started a new campagin... still havent noticed any difference..
Hi Stiker, Did you manage to get your saved data to work on the new PS3
Hi Stiker, Did you manage to get your saved data to work on the new PS3
naah.. kept saying the info doesnt belong to me....
Had my first experience of PES 2012 "scripting" yesterday.
I won 4-0 at home and then beat Villa 3-0 away, two great results and performances. I checked the league table and low and behold - I was top of the league! Great stuff, 2 points clear of Chelsea.
Next up? Newcastle at home. Very winnable - they were 15th. I go one down to a header from a corner, fine, no problem there. Hit back straight away, 1-1. Then, just before half time, another corner, I go in at HT 2-1 down to another header.
Newcastle hadn't threatened at all apart from corners which were won from long blocked shots. Second half I battered them, made it 2-2 in the 75th. I tried to make it 3-2 but it wasn't happening.
Game goes into injury time and I break forward, only for a shot to be blocked and away it goes. Injury time runs out - I tackle someone fairly on the half way line and break forward, one last chance! But no, the tackle is apparently illegal and they have a free kick. They blast it forward, I head it clear - sorted, they should blow the whistle. The ball drops and Smith takes a shot, which I block, which then bobbles slowly towards my keeper, who, for some reason, palms it out for a corner.
Another corner. Another header. 3-2.
Furious!
Chelsea are now 1 point ahead of me - next up? Them at home. Bring it on...
argh! Very frustrating! I always hated Smith in this game btw! From Pes6 until now hes frikking annoying when he plays against me..
argh! Very frustrating! I always hated Smith in this game btw! From Pes6 until now hes frikking annoying when he plays against me..
I know!
Bit of an update - played 5 games.
Scraped a 1-1 draw vs. Chelsea. Ronaldo signed for them and is literally incredible. I was lucky not to get beat.
Beat Lazio 2-0 away in the first knockout round of the Europa League. Professional performance, scored a penalty (I'm having quite a few of these now - didn't get any last year).
Beat Swansea 3-1 away, hat-trick within the first 18 minutes. Went back top of the league after Chelsea drew!
Hammered Lazio 5-1 at home so won 7-1 on agg. I was 1 down at half time so it was closer than it looked - when they pushed forward Rodriguez ran riot and scored 4, 3 in the last 10 minutes.
After losing to Newcastle, I was concerned about the next one. Blackburn at home, first game since going top. Battered them but only drew 1-1 with a 75th minute equaliser. Really gutted - pressure got to me! Chelsea won and they are now a point clear at the top, it's the start of March in my game so I've got time to turn it around.
Next up is Man City. Gulp. I've found them the hardest side to play and beat in the game.

Yeh the Wii version will be another model or version of the game if you like. I remember PES 5 was like this you couldn't change the difficulty once ML had started, you may have to RESTART your ML and before you play a game try and change it then.
I'm sure once you start ML you can choose the difficulty, but maybe not once you start going though the schedule.
Keep us informed whatever the case is.

I have no idea what exactly that is. Can you explain?
I'm just starting my ML. I do need to ask one question though-
Are there still unrealistic transfers made by the computer on ML?
What I mean is incidents such as Puyol joining Real Madrid, Drogba joining Athletico Madrid and Agureo signing for Aston Villa? I also hated it in PES 2011 when Bayern Munich would sign all the best players in the game like C. Ronaldo. This meant I was never able to test myself against the best players in the game as they had all signed for teams I would rarely, if ever, face (you could only play Bayern in the Champs League of course). These changes all occurred with transfer frequency set low!
It really killed the game for me as by the 3rd season teams had changed so much they were barely recognisable and much less competitive.
Did anyone else find this unbearable and have Konami rectified this?

I thought people might be interested in my experience, been playing PES since ISS and ML every year (I pretty much only buy the game for ML).
So this year, is the hardest I've ever played. I usually play on professional and I'm able to cope and enjoy that. With PES2012, I find it very frustrating and I echo the pains people have had about the AI being untackleable or scoring in crazy situations. I've nearly smashed my controller into pieces several times BUT you guys seems to be having a similar problem to me!
I got promoted with Reading (in 2nd position) from D2 (playing with championship patch) after the first season, it was tricky. In the premier league goals are few and far between. The season just finished, I finished low but didn't get relegated (this was my mission, not the chairman's though. Europa league? HAH!). I checked the stats, I had the LEAST goals conceded even with my TERRIBLE defence, honestly it's got more holes than a sieve. I also have the LEAST goals scored and reading the other posts this seems to be the reoccuring problem.
I think we can learn to defend pretty well but scoring is incredibly hard at this level. You play for draws (4,5,1 or 4,2,3,1) or hope for a fortunate 1-0. Getting a goal scorer you can rely on seems nigh on impossible unless you find a nice free agent with reasonable salaries (most of us won't though!).
Don't go crazy looking for a super striker early on, get yourself a solid keeper from your 'list of targets' and some supplementary midfielders (utility players) on loan. One wide one (who can play both RMF & LMF with 80~+ speed), and a CMF/DMF player who can pass a bit.
One thing I see people complaining about is not being able to sign anyone early on. You must remember the key problem. TEAM RANKING. Check your Team ranking and look at the team around you, mostly those will be D2 teams and a few european teams or some from eresdivisie. Write them down and go through these teams in the 'team info' section and check out their squads. Anyone who is 'an established member of the squad' you won't get. But those on the transfer / loan list OR 'struggling to keep his place in the team' is worth a bid! (Also note their salary, early on I would advise you aim below £200,000) I would also recommend not loaning / buying players who have a low form (e.g. 2). Form of 5 is my benchmark, 4 is also acceptable but no lower.
Summary: DON'T waste weeks going for players who are out your reach, be wise, be patient and have reasonable expectations.

It means that you can see the players potential if you play them good- It could show walcott have a peak or 91 (this was in pes 2008 on ps2) if you play them as required
Had to start my master league again, I tried PES edit patch, didn't like it so uninstalled it, but then when I started the game as normal I couldn't load my ML, it said it was from a different version.
So I'm back in the lowly D2 again :( Doing better than I did in my 1st season I was in D2 though currently 10th about half way though the season.

You do know the AI and yourself have the ability to dive right? It's part of the game that you and the AI can cheat and dive. If you get it wrong (and the AI does too) they get a yellow card.

Huh? I don't see any diving on that play. That was a legit penalty.
And I don't dive.

I wouldn't of give it, but as an above post says, you can dive and the CPU will too.
It's a pain when they are given, but it happens.

Even on the Wii version?
Really love this years ml it has one thing back that was missing for awhile......longevity! Your not going to sweep up every title in your season and i love that coz it makes it feel really worth it when you do. My only gripes with it would be the training the moaning of playes when not picked and the if or soon to be in my case you get sacked you've to start all over again!!
This mode has so much more potential to give id love it to have a contract that you sign at the beginning with realistic goals set for you by the chairman over the given duration.....a more indepth scouting something like fifas to scour the corners off the globe for talent.........training to be overhauled.......have squad status so your players know where they stand and maybe even team talks! I know some might just say go play fm if you want that but i think it would add to a great mode!!

I've tried that, it sucks. Everytime, and I say everytime I dived I got a yellow card. And if you dive again with the same player, you easily get the red card, which is stupid. I do understand that sometimes you fail at it, but most of the time I tried it when it was really a fault. You know when you're running with your attacker for the ball, and then a defender is like holding you back, trying to not let go. Then I dive. Nothing, i get a yellow card. How stupid... If they made this, they could at least make it work.

I'm pretty much the same as hectic glenn (c.o.y.s ), in that I've played every installment of this game and i'm only really interested in ML offline.
I must say when i first played the game i hated it. The shooting, the passing, the graphics and thought about trading it in and sticking with 2011. The only thing i was impressed with was the AI movement.
Still, i decided to crack on with my ML choosing the crap players on professional.
1st season finished bottom. 3 wins and not many goals. the few shots i did get in where like toe punting a beach ball in a high wind.
2nd season, same as. 4th from bottom, Sacked !
It was pretty obvious that i'm not as good as i thought i was so it was bite the bullet time.
I switched to regular with pass assist on +1, 10 min matches and " hey presto " mid table with some lovely build up play but still the same rubbish finishing from my rubbish strikers.
I found this set up to be much the same as 2011 on top player but with better AI.
My formation as as usual is RB CB CB LB
DMF
RMF CMF LMF
SS
CF
Giving plenty of support in midfield. The best way i found to defend is aggressivly in midfield doubling up on players using square + cross and only resorting to R2 + cross on the edge of the box.
Second season. set my advanced search for players to out of contract players picked up a CF and SS both on 71 aged 17 and 19
What a difference when shooting ! the new boys are pinging in the goals from everywhere. going round the keeper, or sloting past him in a one on one.
At the half way stage, I'm two points clear at the top and leading the top scorer and asisst tables
If i get promoted then I'm going to up it to professional for the prem and try to avoid relegation. If i do, I'll up it again , or maybe not ?
O.K so i'm not up with the top players on superstar level. Like I give one! I've found my own level for the time being and I'm loving it
I've just finished my season on ML - I won the D1 League and the Europa League in the end! Lost to Chelsea in the semis of the England Cup.
I finished 6 points clear at the top and had a great run of fixtures and wins since my last post. I won against Arsenal at home and United away fairly comfortably - in fact I hammered Arsenal 7-1 and beat United 3-1. Perhaps it's time for me to move up to top player? My top striker, F. Rodriguez scored a crazy amount of goals - top of my head I can't remember, but it's certainly +50, 20+ in the Europa League and 30 odd in the English League.
Just starting my fifth(?) season and have a budget of 50 million. Great stuff! The doctors etc have all been promoted too - I think I actually prefer the financial manager being off in the ML.
Made a few signings - a GK, two CB, two LWF, a CMF and a CF, I've also got rid of some of the players who haven't quite done it for me the last few years. All my signings are now 80+ players, which is fantastic. Using the targets tool is the most effective way of getting cheap players who are quite good. I'd suggest listening to one of the posters above - there's no point wasting weeks trying to get players who just won't join.
Really enjoying the game now - this year's aim is the Champions League!

You should go upto superstar that's more realistic than top player, that's where I started with default players but was getting hammered so dropped it to pro really enjoying the master league as soon as I get a good squad together think I will go back to superstar, enjoying your story
does the ai seem a lot tougher on superstar in ml compared to other modes? And it seems to me that scripting is widespread in it too! I play on ps3 is it different on other consoles or has anyone else encountered this!!

Am on ps3 and on superstar it feels like a real game of football it's just so hard.
I play as FC Copenhagen on superstar difficulty. 3rd season. I'm placed 10th in the league now - finally i've learned how to defend properly and how to release R2 and execute the tackle. The other day i found myself struggling against Szelawce and today i won against Ajax and Sevilla in the Europa League securing a spot in the final!
4 games left in the season, so probably no european football for me next season, but that gives me time to build up my team and get rid of irrelevant players i just bought in desperation prior to last season.
I've experienced that playing with quick counter and actually awaiting the opponent when facing big teams works great! then i play possession game against weaker sides. Really love the tactics aspects in the game this year.
FINALLY i managed to sign my beloved Rasmus Elm from AZ alkmaar on a free transfer. He's been a beast in the last 2 pes games, so i'm really looking forward to next season. Managed to land Sebastian Larsson from sunderland as well. So two decent signings and hopefully a couple more to come in the summer window.
Let's see if i can win the Europa League as total underdog.

Ive gone through a full season now with spurs and have an excellent squad of players but it seems player ratings go out the window in the ml........i love a challenge and that its harder coz ive won every other cup at a canter on superstar but i cant accept the level of ai cheating its ruining this great mode! Despite me dominating games i always concede stupid goals that you know are coming but cant defend coz the ai decides not to let you control your player!!
Hope they patch it to tone it down!!
^ Actually i thought the same way until this week. Then i've learned how to defend properly, and with my fc copenhagen (only consisting of scandinavian players) i managed to keep Tottenham, Arsenal and Sevilla from scoring on superstar totally dominating the games. There are some defending tutorials some where. Will try to post them later.
So i won both the Europa League and super cup as well. Participating in Europa League this season as well. Signed, Rasmus Elm, Bendtner, Sebastian Larsson, and Nilsson (defender) and sold 3-4 bad players so my squad is now ready for the task.
Having played 4 matches 3 wins and 1 defeat so far. Looks great now. I just have to play well in Europa League again.

Comments like that are 'music to my ears'.:)
Thank God not all posters are lazy suckers and cry babies.
^ Exactly. I really don't think konami implemented some kind of cheat feature, that the cpu can just turn on when they want to :) This year it just didn't take 2 weeks getting used to the new aspects in the game, and that may be why people are getting mad. Because they're impatient

BTW: finished my first ML season with Newcastle. 10th place.
But I have a strong feeling that my second season will be much better. And I praise myself of having defeated some of the strongest teams in PL, like Arsenal, Liverpool... including some trashes (4-0 victim: Fulham / 3-0 victim: West Brom / 4-1: Swansea / 4-1: Aston Villa). ;)
Had to sell Tioté (my best player in the past season) due to financial demands, but I bought a cheap Lolo (excellent anchor man he is!!!), and have a relatively strong midfield commanded by D'Agostino.
Bought Okaka as well, but after a while I realize how seriously I need a better CB. Not that Taylor and the others are crap, but I need an even better defender. Though I still don't have a clue who I'm going to buy.
Marveaux is a quality player, fast, agile, and had some good performances as well, but I decided to sell him. Probably the dumbest thing I made.
Ryan Taylor is my FK Taker, and scored some beauties. Quality player as well, I must add.
My top scorer was Leon Best (10 goals), and Demba Ba made a lot of assists.
Shimizu and Voichulerd developed incredibly quick. Palmieri is gradually becoming a classy and commanding player.
Ribeiro from your youth team is great. Sure his overall is crap but his height is 199cm and that is what I take advantage off. He is sure to win almost anyball in the air and is someone I need when I take a corner kick. He has some decent stats like 85 heading and he isn't very slow for a big young striker (73 top speed)
I definitely recommend him for a lower team as he is a beast (literally) and gets important goals when you need them. Also look for strikers with high responsiveness as they will always avoid the offside trap and can get in the end of thorugh balls like Inzaghi, Pazzini, Gilardino etc.
