Having played MLO for a week now I have one question...
Has the division ranking system changed since last year?
I am in div 4 - so why do i play so many div 1's? - Whats the point in being in division 4 - This matchmaking is a joke IMO. It seems as if this year it is possible to get promoted/relegated more than ne division?
Yeah. I used to be in d4 too and yesterday i got promoted to d1 out of nowhere. Its horrible now since my main income used to come from d4 cups and now at d1 cups im facing all those superstar teams.
As for matchmaking it seems to be more by rating than division, but still sometimes you get paired up against those superstar d1.

Yeah I don't understand it at all. I play some people who are well below my level (div 4) but I play a good 40% of my games against div1 superstars. Even some div 4 teams have ronaldo messi and villa all in the same team...
When I came on yesterday it said Promotion and I was in division 1 and them the next screen said promotion division 4. I don't get it.

Why did they have to change this - last year the way divisions and ranking points worked was so much better.
Please Konami - patch it like last years :)
i don't really think the match making pairs you up with people with similar ratings, I was in the 600s and it keeps pairing me up with people with 400s maybe every once 10 games i get paired up with someone with a similar rating to me

There's an option where you can choose to be pared up only with those with similar ratings. It doesn't work though. I'm in div 4 as well and often get paired up with someone in div 1
I'm also in D1, and also got the option to play similar rated teams, but still play against 600's and 700's and my Teams is just in build(520).

that whole option to play similar teams was broken last year as well. But at least last year we had a feeling of being in a division, with promotion and relegation boundaries.
Divisions this year are charlatans Its just a ranking list divided into five segments.
Konami - please, why do you not get it???? Div 4 players should only ever play Div 4 teams unless they enter an open cup.
This will ruin the longevity of MLO for a lot of players, they simply will not put up with being paired against players with such a higher skill level.
Even if you are in div1 - yep it might be nice to pummel div 5's, but really what enjoyment do you get out of that?
My division now has less to do with my skill and more to do with how lucky i get with the matchmaking.
Truely pathetic considering last years system was so ggod
Agreed with all of the above. However, during peak times I get paired with similar level players. Currently in D5, on about 30th place or so. So like I said, evenings, when there's a lot of players I get paired with similar level players.
However sometimes in the mornings, when the number of online users is extremely low, I think the system will try to pair me up with a similar level player however if that takes too long it will pair me with another player regardless of its level so sometimes I get paired with D1 players as well. Didn't happen in the last 10 MLO matches though, that's since I got promoted to a division. i was division-less before and I was paired with all kinds of players. Now I am strongly playing only against other D5 players with similar level ratings. It's easy going now, however I'm afraid that in one week I'll be promoted to a higher division and my line up is still not ready to face the great super stars...

hmmm, i agree Griciu, at peak times the match macking is better, hopefully as the MLO users grow it will resolve itself.
I still dont understand the way divisions work this time around - last year was so fun checking the promotion/relegation cutoffs. Now that's gone, but the question is why?

Online seems to be absolute garbage this year. It tells me I've been promoted to division 3 yet when I'm matched up against someone, it says I'm in division 5 still
Also the referees are ridiculous. You touch a player and it's a foul. I tripped a player while he and the ball were outside the box, yet it's a penalty. Absolutely shocking.

As far as I can tell the only difference between the divisions this year is the prize money on offer in the competitions. The change to rating and prize money is unaffected by the division your opponent is in - after any result.

its an absolute joke, i only started last night and its pairing me against teams full of star players, there is no way to win when you paired against a player who is as good as me but they have players that are much much better, the crappy start off players are too slow and the opasition can just walk through my entire team i wont be playing again as its just stupid
quick match will play you against random opponent. playing in competitions will play you against players of your same level.
i recommend you go to competitions and play D5 Cup and D5 Cup(Coach Mode).
even if you don't qualify you will get a good bonus depending on your position.

its not flawless but its not that bad, last night i played 5 MLO games all teams where in 50pts of my rating either better or worse so thats pretty good. i hadn't played online for over a week, and i had changed to the rating selection prior to that but still kept getting D1 teams, but last night was how id expect the option to work....didn't help me mind i lost 3 games of the 5 by a goal :crymore: usually by my own stupid mistakes :loopy:

Yeah it does seem to better, not based on divisions this year but based on points.

there is no coach mode cups this year
i don't see it in menu...

yeah it does exist. but i don't recommend coach mode anymore because the results seem to be random and you will not get the bonus from mypes in coach mode.
