Fully Manual
27-11-2011, 06:29
PES has a special place in my heart, I grew up playing it. Right now I only play FIFA however I believe people are playing the game in the wrong way. In general, FIFA sucks for any true football fan, however I have certain settings I play with and I'd like everyone who can to try them. Trust me guys, I'm one of you and I think I know what is it you want. To note; if you are looking for the excitement that PES offers of scoring 9 goals in a match (two teams combined) then you can ignore my thread :D

Playing FIFA 12:

1. Set your control settings on "Manual Settings". The game is absolutely beautiful if played on manual control against a civilized human being.

For offline mode:

2. Play with the sliders.

Player Sliders: Set "Forward Runs" to 65.

CPU Sliders: Set everything either 45 or 55 (Making the CPU weaker).

3. Play the CPU at "World Class" difficulty in normal matches, and at "Legendary" on cups and at the Champions.

-----------------

The idea behind manual control is that you are controlling everything, whatever is on your mind you can apply. I personally haven't played FIFA 12 on normal mode from the first day I bought it, cause assisted control just sucks. Give it a try, you won't lose anything. Good luck guys ;)

I tried it on manual and it was just too sloppy as the power of the passes can make them go astray so I put it on semi or assisted

Shooting on manual eventhough it can remove player individuality so sometimes I put it on semi

I put crossing on assisted because PES 2012 the crossing IS assisted and can't be changed so I wouldn't be used to it.

I put through balls on manual and lobbed through balls and I put on legacy defending as that feels like PES more with it's Zonal marking

P.S. Shooting feels totally awesome on manual!

I think ur already a pesgaming member using a different alias, also ur point is rather pointless tbh, u claim u love pes and state that fifa is crap but then suggest people switch to fifa???? Mainly if pes is to exciting for them lol u must b the worse salesman ever haha

Fully Manual

@markcross: Well I'm not suggesting for people to switch, I'm rather suggesting for them to try these options on FIFA. I used to play PES, but after going to college and traveling to the US, offline mode is not an option. I tried FIFA 10 mainly for the online mode. I mainly think that FIFA in general plays worst than PES, however, to me personally nothing beats playing FIFA on manual control. Very few people enjoy manual control to be honest with you. My mentality has changed in the last few years specially after watching Pep's Barca in real life. I used to play PES to kick my friends asses, but now I play FIFA for relaxing. Maybe that's why I like the manual control.

@abu97: Manual control has become much easier on FIFA 12 than it was on the previous ones. It's not perfect, but once you get used to it you'll rarely have problems with overpowered passes (specially offline). Also in 12 the difference is quite noticeable when playing with a good passer and a decent one.

Why are you talking about Fifa on a pes board? Most ppl here don't even have FIFA to even try what you're saying and frankly most won't care . FIFA forum ----------->this way

Full manual play was fantastic on fifa 2008 and 2009, from this point although a solid football title fifa started to get stale and as a predominantly offline player I turned back to PES. I have a lot of respect for Gary Paterson(fifa creative producer) as he introduced manual passing onto the Left analog with fifa 2007 thus creating more freedom for the player, and it worked well.

The problem is even with a good passing system, if the rest of the game doesn't appeal to me it won't be enough to hold my interest. I get bored playing legendary AI on fifa even with manual play, although against another human it can be good.

From my perspective, no fifa game has come close to the organic nature of fifa 2008, the manual passing and build up play in that game has only since been matched by pes 2011 and 2012.

Thankfully in 2010 konami copied a strong aspect from EA's gameplay, implementing manual passing onto the LS rather than the RS manual pass that had been used on last gen pes games. I feel the passing system is a strong point in both games.

I honestly think you've got some defense issues in PES if you average at 9 goals. I average at two goals per match, mostly winning or losing 2-1, but lower scores are frequent enough to be a rough estimate at two per game at Superstar difficulty.

I get scores like 0-0 or 1-1 as I play on slower gamespeed on 15mins. It matches the pace of the game and atlast its not end to end football or a midfield battle

another alternative advice for the human beings that are still trying to make a game out of this crap scripted shit... put your CD in the garbage and play something else or go out and play soccer because this game makes you miss and long for the fucking real game

But atleast it's not as worse than PES 2011. Now that made you miss the beautiful game

I play 18 minutes matches, and at 0.85 gamespeed. I used Jenkey's tool to alter gamespeed rather than the ingame option because I felt the players became a touch more sluggish and unaware of loose balls using Konami slow-down. Jenkey's tool let me keep 100% ball speed as well, which makes it all good imo.

abu97
29-12-2011, 14:14
When you lowered the game-speed in the previous patches, players did feel skaty and sluggish but on patch 1.03 the ingame speed makes players feel more free and fast.

Villarreal, I think. I can certainly think of one big rival that Villa have.

And you and I both know that, even if Konami brought out the perfect football game, there'd still be people, in here, moaning.

Don't take this the wrong way as I'm just looking to contribute with what I consider constructive criticism, but for a person whose username is "Fully Manual" you do not seem to understand what "fully manual" actually is: yes, FIFA12 is more "manual" or "organic" than PES12, but FIFA12 does not offer anything that can be described as manual, FIFA12 is based around a 360 directional d-pad, FIFA12 is not true analog control, which means that with FIFA12 you can direct the left analog stick and the right analog stick in 360 directions, however, because FIFA12 is not manual, you do not have any range of movement within each direction, and therefore, every dribbling movement implemented into each specific direction is always an identical copy which looks "organic" but in actual fact is just the very same identical copy repeating itself over and over again, that's how the d-pad works, and that's how FIFA12 works, and thus FIFA12 should not be described as a "manual" video game.

Having said that: sure, you could argue that FIFA12 feels more "organic" than PES12, but that's all you can say about FIFA12, it feels manual, it looks manual, but at the end of the day, the fact is that FIFA12 is not manual nor does it offer anything that can be described as manual.

The bottom line is, as far as I'm concerned, that FIFA12 does not offer enough freedom to compensate for how repetitive the game is; yes, replacing an eight directional d-pad with a 360 directional d-pad is a perfection of the method, but it isn't something that I would describe as a reinvention. I'm not saying that PES12 is the better game, I'm just saying that both games feel outdated and very predictable at this point, because neither game has offered anything that can be described as a reinvention of the genre.

And lastly, being more subjective, I think the entire game with the exception of the dribbling animations, is smarter in PES12 than it is in FIFA12, when you are in a one on one situation in PES12 it somewhat feels closer to the real thing, but it is a big shame that the dribbling animations are so disappointing seeing how the animations in PES12 look like Konami is trying to copy FIFA instead of being original, that's the one massive fail of PES12, the technical aspect of the game is just very disappointing and doesn't do any justice to the off the ball movement; oh and the defensive controls are another massive fail, overly complicated to do the simplest of things.

The trouble is OCKRASS is that IMO opinion FIFA is just as bad, if not worse in many areas. I had FIFA bought for me (my third time of trying to 'get it') over Christmas, and no matter what I do I cannot gleem the satisfaction that I am after.

I have tried everything from control sets, to sliders, to difficulty levels.

The main problems that are driving me insane with rage on FIFA is the following -

1) No aerial game - every team and every game pans out the same. The ball trajectory is too flat if you send an aerial ball from back to front to have any time to manoeuvre your strikers if you did want to play an aerial game. Therefore you are stuck with Barce like teams all the time.

2) Repetition of everything

3) 45/90 minute goals. There has been countless messages on the FIFA forum about this, if you want to argue against it feel free, but IMO this is a true gamebreaker. Only yesterday for example I was winning in two consecutive games where the opposition scored in the 90th minute twice to equalise. Over a period of say fifty games, and this is no shit, I would say almost a third of ALL goals are scored at these times. THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS. CPU controlled team mates go on jollies, penalties are given for off the ball stuff which I didn't do, you name it it goes on around these times.

4) The 'no pulse' factor. Just quite simply, the games feel dead.

KONAMI could obviously take a leaf out of EA's book in terms of animations, player injuries, collisions, keepers (although this is subjective as to how the scripting is). But at the moment I'm feeling more rage toward a FIFA game that just doesn't feel right, than KONAMI's effort. Could I play Pro Evo without it being patched?!? Probably not, so therein lies the problem. A soulless product from EA, or a smash of a million KONAMI patches thrown together for Pro Evo?

For sheer fun, and I need to keep reminding myself about this is why I put the console or the PC on to begin with, Pro Evo is just about winning, but a highly modded effort is needed with increased ball weight and shot power to compensate.

All honesty...I scream at Fifa too.....but I just like coming here a throw the word Fifa around and watch ppl go crazy.

You have the right to not like Fifa ...anyone does. So its not your cup of tea ..meh. Means nothing.

You have fair knowledge about both games ...and I do agree with most points you make ...but i cant go around saying that if i want to annoy the hell out ppl when i mention FIFA ...:w00t
