BlueScouse

I'm gonna go with either France or Holland.

Zygalski
27-06-2003, 10:40
One from Portugal, Holland, France.

rebusrahman
27-06-2003, 18:32
Wales!!! Actually, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say England! I know I know but I have a feeling this time (just like all the other times!).

Zygalski
27-06-2003, 19:05
Nah, England will lose in the final but it will give them the experience to win world cup 2006!

rebusrahman
28-06-2003, 00:04
Ur being very optimistic! England will forever either go out early or constantly reach the quarter-finals. That way we forever see-saw between hope and no hope without an actual trophy of any kind...

Zygalski
28-06-2003, 00:27
I think by that time England should be better, if they keep Beckham, Owen and Gerrard at full fitness and if Sven keeps using his new management skills - like we discussed the other day.

rebusrahman
28-06-2003, 00:33
We will see... we will see. I think you cannot underestimate the importance of other players. Rooney, Campbell, Vassell, Robinson soon, Cole and yes Nicky Butt! We need these guys too. But can we pls have Bridge installed at LB and Cole as LMF?

Zygalski
28-06-2003, 11:15
Sure those players are important too but looks how far England got in the world cup with no Gerrard and a half-fit Beckham.
These three I mentioned are crucial to the team.

And Butt is important but it's tricky playing him and Gerrard as both want to play DMF.
Unless England change formation to play like France in PES2, 4-2-3-1.

rebusrahman
28-06-2003, 11:32
England cannot play like France we don't have the wingers really. But don't forget we played ok 'gainst Sweden. Well (except for 60 mins of backs against the wall defending) in the Argentina game and poorly in the Nigeria game. Denmark played poorly against us and then it was Brazil. What happens in 2006 when the heat is no excuse and we have a full compliment? When we inevitably go out we will have to think of something new to say!

Zygalski
28-06-2003, 11:57
Or maybe England can just be gracious winners!

:)

rebusrahman
28-06-2003, 12:05
If we won anything we would be as gracious as George Bush!

Craiiig David
28-06-2003, 12:10
RETOUR!!! Craiiig David here i think England could do well if we have a full strength team and do not let Phil Neville play, i hate Phil neville he's proper fucking shite. But if France put out a full strength side they will win as no-one can't match their pace and skill the only team that comes close to match them offensilvely is Holland as they have Ruud "HORSE HEAD" Van Nistelrooy, Kluivert and the best forward in the world last season Roy Makkay. I'll Reperesantay!!! England as they have a very good all round side and a very young age average. Our Kez likes them to especially that Owen Hargreaves his head looks like a toilet brush.
BO SELECTA!!!!!!!!11

Zygalski
28-06-2003, 12:21
I don't think Wiltord and Pires are natural wingers.
They are good enough to play in the system for the good of the team.

England could try this:-

-----------------------James----------------------

-Neville-------Ferdinand----Campbell-------Bridge

----------------Gerrard------Butt---------------------

------Beckham--------Scholes---------Dyer-------

-----------------------Owen--------------------

And if anyone's off form, there's also
Ashley Cole, Rooney, Joe Cole, Vassell.
This could work I think.

rebusrahman
28-06-2003, 16:07
Have to disagree... 4-4-2 (flat or diamond) and 3-5-2... or even Xmas tree. We have never been able to do deal with anything too technical, formation wise.

Zygalski
28-06-2003, 19:44
It would worth trying it a 'meaningless' friendly to see how it would work.
Maybe Nancy won't let Sven try it!

It seems that France, Italy and Real Madrid are playing this way these days so it may be the way forward.

BlueScouse
28-06-2003, 20:12
I would prefer to have Rooney on the bench aswell, i think starting him plants too much expectation on his shoulders. He can change a game alot more when he comes off the bench. Then when he starts getting older and more wiser then start the lad.

rebusrahman
29-06-2003, 22:01
Too true, bluescouse. Let him start once in a while but if it all goes to his head he'll end up like Michael Barrymore!

My team for euro 2004 is the checz republic,Although i will be praying for The Azzuri (ITALY).

rebusrahman
02-07-2003, 08:30
Czech Republic!??! No chance! The Azzuri maybe (after their dismal showing in WC2002!)...

wixon
02-07-2003, 10:18
france will win as they have some really great players both new and old.

rebusrahman
02-07-2003, 13:13
I hope not, wixon, as they have won far too much recently. The wealth has to be spread around!

Y2Jamie
02-07-2003, 13:38
Italy, I reckon they can win it after going so close at Euro 2000. Fair enough they bored their way to the final but I was gutted when they lost.
Italy or Holland.
England would be very gracious winners, as they have been in the past.
I hope you're picking up the immense sarcasm in the England part of my post.

Zygalski
02-07-2003, 15:02
care to explain when they weren't gracious winners?
they've only won the one proper trophy.

PES_GOD
02-07-2003, 15:11
I think Euro 2004 is goin to be a class comp obviously i'd like England to win but you've got more chance of Henman getting to the Wimbledon final, i noticed no one's mentioned Spain for the running but they seem to have a good team on paper but can never really pull it together on the field i think mabe Holland as they're well overdue for a cup

rebusrahman
02-07-2003, 18:19
Holland are like Spain but just do better before imploding!!!

Lorenzinho
06-07-2003, 21:31
i think france'll win but i really want italy to win! forza italia!

rebusrahman
08-07-2003, 12:50
I'd hate to see France win something again! Let someone else have a go, I say!

Zygalski
08-07-2003, 13:19
I'd like to see Holland win it.
Or England...

vdub199
08-07-2003, 13:51
France is simply the best team of the world, that's all!!!!

so france will win euro and WC !!!!!!!!

Zygalski
08-07-2003, 14:04
Like World Cup 2002?

rebusrahman
08-07-2003, 14:31
Exactment, mon ami vdub199. Les Bleus était une équipe fantastique. Mais maintenant.... un peu trop vieux? J'espere mon francais n'est pas trop mal parce que votre anglais est trés bien!

elmchee
08-07-2003, 16:55
spain have a new young and talented team so i feel they will win.

fastcow10
17-07-2003, 12:25
If Sven had any sense, he'd play the following line up:

(GK)

G. Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, P.Neville

Beckham, Butt, Scholes, (SMF)

and a couple of strikers.

Perfect. There'd be hardly any problems with teamwork either; I think the current England are weaker than the sum of their parts.

BlueScouse
17-07-2003, 13:22
Why don't you try and fill in the missing gaps with players from OTHER teams and not just fuckin' Mancs & and Ex-Manc!

Zygalski
17-07-2003, 13:50
Yeah, probably Cole And Bridge are ahead of Phil Neville.

fastcow10 is a truly hardcore supporter!
Sheringham and Andy Cole strikers with Chadwick SMF?

fastcow10
17-07-2003, 23:12
Ha, just stuck that in to provoke a response!

I did include one ex-manc (Beckham), but only cos Fletcher's Scottish. How about Luke Steele in nets and Richardson up front? And I like the other suggestions.

Homer J.
18-07-2003, 12:46
I see many people think Holland will win it :)

I have the idee we have a good chance, let's say 2002 was a little mistake(van Gaal sucks!) We have a better coach now... Plus we have in Holland a handfull of new big talents walking around... I just hope it doesn't come to penalty's(2000-Italy kicked holland out of tournament in semi finals after penalty's, while Holland had 2 penalty's in the game missed!)

But anyway, the one I would least want and defently don't give a chance is France... They really suck lately... Spain never does anything good on international level... Italy lost his touch, plays way to defensve(that sucks...)... England, well I don't know, they have the skill but it never comes out... Czech always promesis in the qualifying round but never does good in the tournament...

wixon
18-07-2003, 13:46
i'm backing the czech republic. they came close in 96 and they now have players like nedved and the big Jan Koller who are in the best form of their careers

rebusrahman
18-07-2003, 13:56
Koller is just a Czech version of Peter Crouch! Don't discount the Germans. I know no one wants them to win but they proved they are a tough team to beat in Euro 96 and WC2002 even when not that good.

Homer J.
18-07-2003, 16:04
Germany sucks...

They only hava Ballack and Kahn, and football is extremely ugly!
Holland beat them 3-1 lately...

rebusrahman
18-07-2003, 16:12
They have a nasty habit of grinding out results tho. You dutch guys are obviously hate the Germans!

jag87
18-07-2003, 16:20
germany are boring and shoddy as england orcheastrated in sep 2001

Homer J.
19-07-2003, 09:36
Yes we have a little Germany-fobia indeed...

It does me good to see how bad they are doing :D

jag87
19-07-2003, 10:48
they havent had good striker since klinsmann and beirhoff. and euro 96.

Lorenzinho
19-07-2003, 21:05
no offence to vdub but it kinda clicked on that they didnt score a single goal in wc2002 and didnt get past the group stage. holland, italy or germany will win.

jag87
19-07-2003, 21:13
realistically a team like italy and holland look favourites, if france even want to consider the euro 2004 title, they need some fresh new talent, the confeds cup was encouraging and stars like govou and guly may be the next batch of french stars. although guly is in l8 20's, he was given a chance to show his worth and he impressed me with his pace and mentality.

Homer J.
19-07-2003, 21:24
France has the skill, but not the mentality, not the courige, not anything anymore to win...

But let's not talk about WC2002, we(Holland) wheren't even there :D Only Guus Hiddink(god bless this brillant coach...) was there to save our honors...

lufc_1986
19-07-2003, 22:34
I think Spain are in with a great chance, as the team is maturing and players such as Raúl, Joaquin, Morientes, Sergi, Puyol, Canizares are yet to have a good performance in international tournaments.

jag87
19-07-2003, 22:40
my favourites for the tournament after re-deciding is holland and england.

rebusrahman
19-07-2003, 23:11
C'mon Wales! I'd love to see Ryan Giggs in just one international tournament pls! And what about John Hartson? I'd wet myself with laughter!

Tito
20-07-2003, 00:53
Spain is hopefully gonna win the tournament... They have new young players who are really good.. Vicente, Joaquin, Xabi Alonso are some examples... I hope Reyes, Portillo and Fernando Torres will be there also.. If Spain doesn't win (hopefully not), then I'll go for Holland......... But only 'cause I'm half Spanish/half Dutch ;-).

Homer J.
20-07-2003, 11:04
Well then, Tito, good for you to hear then that Rafael van der Vaart in a couple of years wants to go to Spain(probebly Real, but I don't really like Real...)

And about spain in 2004, I don't think so... They always had good players and always will have, but they always miss a touch. And I think that players at Real Madrid are spoiled and not going to do well...

jag87
20-07-2003, 11:07

Holland can't win any tournament like this! I think portugal & Spain have most chances to win it, but watch teams like Turkey, Croatia & Belgium!!!

rebusrahman
23-07-2003, 11:07
Forgot about Turkey. Hmm! C'mon England!

ginja
23-07-2003, 11:17

georginho
28-07-2003, 02:04
Stop talking about england, they have no chance.
Who says england will win their playoff ?
I hope holland win it.
Because thay have to win a tournament some time.

rebusrahman
28-07-2003, 11:05
England have a good chance of winning their qualifying group. As long as they don't stuff up against Lichtenstein and Macedonia. Then it's just a draw with Turkey. I say just but it is in their grasp.

georginho
01-08-2003, 22:56
Turkey will beat england.
With no england fans and the hostile turkey fans.
Only one winner turkey.

ricardinho
04-08-2003, 10:12

I hope Germany will make it but i think that Portugal has the best chances cause their playing at home and are aware of their advantage.

But if the Germans can bring up all their class players they could surprise like 96 where they had all theri world class kicker in the tourney. (Moller, Sammer, Scholl, Klinsmann, Kopke, Hassler)

07-08-2003, 13:05
Hi!!

Germany could win if they had Nowotny, Metzelder and Worns in defence!!
I hope Deisler, Ballack, Schneider, Hamann or Jeremies will be in top form as Klose and Bobic!!
Tschuss....

I would say its out off England, France and Spain
england and France have the Best teams on paper and Spain have raul-enough said

BlueScouse
07-08-2003, 19:35
Yeah but when was the last time Raul won Spain anything. Spain have got great players but they are not a great team.

Ghandi
07-08-2003, 19:40
i went for france in wc2002 and look what happened! but i will go for them they are the best team england will probably ge to quarter final maybe semi depending who they play would like to see spain win if england don't thay were robbed by the cheating koreans in the world cup!
mcmanamun on the left for england anyone?

Ghandi
07-08-2003, 21:27
i was just wondering who won the confederations cup-france or cameroon. I was on holiday when the final took place and never found out who won it

carmelo
07-08-2003, 21:36
italy all the they got the best defenders nesta cannavoro they got the best goalkeepers buffon toldo
not to mention 3 great attackers vieri del piero totti and they also have back up players if needed pirlo inzaghi doni cudicini i think ive made my piont thank u very much

Ghandi
07-08-2003, 21:44
italy have probably got the most quality forwards in international football but they play too defensive if they were more attacking then they would probably win more but being defensive does not work because teams like france are too good at attacking so even though they italy are defensive they will not be able to stop them from scoring. plus they can't take penalties in penalty shoot outs! their record in penalties is worse than englands!

carmelo
07-08-2003, 21:52
yeah maybe but the azurri now play a much more attacking game u just have to watch there matches no more catenaccio

Ghandi
07-08-2003, 21:57
who is italy's manager at the moment and when did they play more attacking-was it in the euro 2004 qualifyers
