Interfering With Play, the next generation. Got quite a cool ring to it. PESGaming.com regulars will know that this column has been following pretty much the same routine for the past 12 months, and now is as good a time as any to make a few changes. So, for all the newbies, here is the score. Interfering With Play is a weekly column, featuring news from the gaming, football and most importantly football gaming world. It is designed to provoke thought amongst its readers and gives you, the PESGaming.com public the opportunity to respond to whatever has been said, if you agree with the views or not. The article has been running for a year now, and has proven to be rather successful, so I am hoping for another 12 months of interesting topics, fierce but fair debate and audience participation that has led to its aforementioned success. With that said, let’s get going with a new year of Interfering With Play
“I Wake Up In The Morning, And I Ask Myself”
First of all, I am going to quickly run through the changes to this column, some subtle, some slightly more obvious. As many of you will be aware, there are a number of new columns starting up on PESGaming.com, a couple of which have a similar format to IWP. Therefore, instead of using generic, all be it witty, headers for each subject, I am instead going to use song lyrics related to the topic in hand. Above is the lyric from 2Pac’s Changes, and this section is about the changes to Interfering With Play! I hope that makes sense. Secondly, each Interfering With Play will now feature a poll, in which you, the PESGaming.com public can vote on a chosen topic. The topics will vary between football, computer games or even the running of PESGaming.com. The votes will give a good indication of the overall views of the community, and hopefully lead to appropriate discussion topics in the future. This is an idea a couple of people have suggested in comment or e-mail form, and therefore I thought would be a good idea to incorporate. The third new addition is a change of e-mail address. As I have said before, I get in the region of 30 e-mails each week regarding Interfering With Play, and a further 5 people add me to msn. Therefore, I have signed up for a new e-mail address, which I will use for anything related to this article. I was also be on MSN using that address, so if you have topics you wish to discuss, please feel free to add me. Those players currently playing in the IWP League, please continue to use the original e-mail address, as I have all saved data in that e-mail account. The new e-mail address is interferingwithplay@hotmail.co.uk and will be the address featured in each article from now on, so please update you address books/contact lists as appropriate. And the final new introduction this week is the snazzy new logo you see at the top of this article. This is the official logo for Interfering With Play, and will be the logo for future Interfering With Play leagues. The logo will be adapted to feature the name of the leagues first winner in a couple of week’s time, but until that point, this is it. The man behind the design is Dave Ostrander, who took the time and effort to produce this top-notch image. Dave is a member of the PESGaming.com community, and if anyone needs a design for any reason, he is willing to listen to offers. Contact me for his e-mail address. More changes are coming up, but the above should keep you going for now!
“Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days”
This week is a huge week in the PES world. Wednesday sees the media silencer lifted on those journalists that have been lucky enough to play test PES2009. Whilst no official word has been posted, the rumblings are extremely positive, and PESGaming.com will report various views from different camps as the story develops. With all the images starting to filter through, and game play reviews just days away, the question must be ‘Are You Excited Yet?’ Personally, I thought that the ‘Christmas Eve’ feeling for computer games was long gone, especially after last years disappointing online modes in PES2008. All the PR, hype and build up seemed to be let down in a number of key areas, and whilst I am still playing PES2008, and will do right up to the night before 2009 is released, I felt stung, and less inclined to ‘look forward’ to a title. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV have gone along was to bringing that feel good factor back, but those were titles that had constantly fired five star games. But today, as I sit here, mulling over what is public knowledge so far, I actually am beginning to feel that little rumble in the pit of my stomach. I am starting to become hungry for that latest screen shot, menu screen or even entrance video! Is online sorted? What about edit mode? What about the lag? All these questions still hang over my head, but I am now wondering, what tricks are in the game? Is become a legend as good as it sounds? Is PES2009 going to finally be the answer to the football sim question? So yes, I am excited, as a columnist for a PES based website, but mainly as a PES fan, and I am starting to wish the summer away, and look forward to October! Is anyone there yet? Or have too many years of next generation disappointment doused any flames of hope? Your views, either via comment or e-mail are most welcome.
“Welcome To The Jungle”
The jungle of course, is the Premier League, and following an excellent and enjoyable first weekend, my hat must go off to Hull City. As a fan of a Championship side, I always feel a great deal of resentment for any club that is starting the new season in the English top flight, especially when my beloved Wolves only lasted the single season. I always hope that the sides that go up become the league whipping boys, and fall straight back down, a weaker and more dejected side for the experience. And normally, this is true. In previous years, teams like Norwich, Sheffield United Crystal Palace have all been one season wonders, and since struggled to find any consistent form within the division. But there is something about Hull. Phil Brown does not have the look of a boring manager. The fans have a certain level of hope and lack of expectation, probably from being in an area dominated by rugby league. The players they have brought in are experienced Premier League players, who along with the mix of seasoned lower league professionals offer a certain level of experience perhaps lacking in Derby of last season. Out of the three promoted sides, Hull would be most people’s favourites to finish bottom, and my head follows those people’s views. But my heart seems to be hoping they can actually do the unthinkable. It would be a huge boost for young managers, a huge boost for Championship teams and a huge boost for fans of lower league clubs, who have seen that the magic of rising through the divisions can still happen in the money driven world of modern football. Any Hull City fans, or anyone with a view on this topic, mainly lower league fans; please feel free to express your views.
“Candlelight And Soul Forever”
If your keeping track whilst reading, the above song is Two Becomes One by The Spice Girls, and links me nicely on to a point raised by John Groth, about playing 2v2 on Pro Evolution Soccer online. Of course, this was a mode not available on PES2008, but on previous versions of the game, most notable PES5 on PC, there was the option of having you and a friend, on the same system, play against another party in a match. Some gamers feel the team with the two players have an unfair advantage, as there are actually two players, but this is only true if the two players compliment each other’s play. I have played this game mode offline with 2 mates, and find that it is easier to play by yourself, as you have more control over features such as one-twos and through balls. Of course, if you are used to playing this mode, be it in Master League or Exhibition modes, when it comes to playing against another human being, the experience will show, with off the ball movement and timing of runs embarrassing the AI. My question is, what kind of interest level is there in 2 people playing on the same team? I know a few of my mates that play Master League in this way, but when I have mates round, we do tend to go for the more competitive one on one games. Anyone who supports this mode, please get in touch and outline why you do so, as it is something that may be included in future Interfering With Play leagues.
“Don’t You Want Me Baby”
Moving on the human league, or more strictly speaking, the Interfering With Play league. The league is almost at the half way stage, and has so far been played in an excellent spirit. Providing the next few weeks follow suit, I have no problem running a larger scale league for more participants on PES2009, hopefully even separate 360 and PS3 divisions. Of course, all this depends on the online state of the new PES, but in spite of the lag, the competition is running very well, and is closely contested at the top. At the time of writing, Martin Ginnelly’s River Plate currently sit top of the pile, but with difficult games against Marseille and Anderlecht this week, there is a good chance all of this could change round pretty quickly! If your are interested in being involved for a PES2009 league, and are not currently playing in the IWP league, please send an e-mail to the new address, stating your name, age, location, console and a valid hotmail address, and you will be put on a mailing list for any future news.
“Got The Body Of A Goddess”
Finally this week is the much-promised poll. The link to the above song is of course T-Pain’s, I’m In Love With A Stripper, and of course strippers do work on poles. Tedious, maybe but is original, and well thought out. Well that’s my story anyway. I won’t be explaining these links every week, but they will be available on request! Anyway, as many you will have noticed, even if you are new to PESGaming.com, the last 7 days has seen a group of new columns pop up from different sources, all discussing different topics. Some of these have been well received, others have come in for some criticism, but the whole point of a site like this is that you get your views across, its what you are entitled to do! Personally, I quite like Steve From Stoke’s Geek Chic, as it is completely different and actually quite amusing, if taken with a pinch of salt! None PES fans would actually call a mental asylum to check him in, but many people would agree with some of the comments Steve makes, and Steve’s points are exactly about people’s love of PES!
However, having been writing a column on this fine site for a while now, I realise it is a big commitment and not always easy to come up with interesting and unique talking points, more so when the news regarding PES dries up in January time, and the site is itching for new content. I feel Interfering With Play coped reasonably well through the ‘dry season’ but I am wondering which column will be the first one to bow out. And that is the question I am putting to you in this weeks poll. Which PESGaming.com column will be the first one to disappear? This could be because you personally don’t enjoy reading it, it could be because you don’t like the author’s writing style, or maybe you feel the content is not enough to keep people coming back for more. I am of course, including IWP in there, as just like the other three columns, there will be people who would like to see the back of it, and this is your opportunity to express your views in an anonymous manor.
That’s your lot for this week’s column. As I said, over the next couple of weeks we have some exciting new features, some regarding PES, and some just for fun! If you would like to get in contact regarding anything you may have read on here, you can do so at interferingwithplay@hotmail.co.uk, or make your comment public using the little red button below.

“Am I going to s**t on my idols?”
Well…..no. Neither am I here to praise, grumble or even give you hardcore updates on our beautiful game. My purpose is to bring you a more relaxed weekly Sunday diary looking into the weekly life of an EvoGeek. And heres what I found.
Subject Number 1 – Myself
I walk to and from my mundane 9 to 5 and while on the way I drift off, in deep thought about my beloved custom Staffordshire United team. As you fellow obsessives know, when that negotiation period comes round you get to fall in love with a number of signings all over again. Bored as I am on my walk I find myself drifting deeper, even talking to these players in my head preparing them for Man United away. Then when im in full drift I then take my unhealthy geek obsession to the extreme by having full blown press conferences and being vocal about my squad/promotion chances/whether i’ll sign a new contract.
Subject 2 – The Family Man
I never told that to anyone but my friend Chris and, nervously waiting for his reaction do you know what he said? Keep taking the pills? Get help dude? Not quite. I think his exact words were: “Thank F**K im not the only one” and he proceeded to spin off about driving to work and constantly having to defend his beloved Matuidi to the harsh, nasty press we’re forced to deal with on a daily basis (in our heads)
Subject 3 and 4 – The Social Whores
A lad i know was telling me back in the day he was at school and, not being bothered with the subject, proceeded to write a number of variations on his Newcastle United formation on the back of his work. What he didn’t realise was that he needed to hand it in at the end. 2 weeks detention was a bit harsh. (i’d have thanked him for giving me the tactics i needed to sort out my underperforming misfits but thats just me). My best friend also told me he can’t wait for his fiancee to go to her friends cos he gets to blast out Evo full volume while turning the commentators down and shouting out his own variations of what he assures me is professional commentary.
Subject 5 - The Celebritys
I got a call from a mate reading out an exert from Rio Ferdinands book. I’ll let the big man’s quote speak for itself : “Pro Evolution Soccer is our favourite when not in training. and I reckon i could easily get a job as a commentator as mine is unbelievable. On one particular time when me and Fletcher annihilated Rooney and Wezza we held a mock press conference and made them explain the problems between the two and to justify their poor performance while i filmed it on my mobile”
Geek Chic : Not for everyone………..but not so uncommon either. See you next week.

Introduction
Hey guys. Seeing as Dan publishes his weekly column, ‘Interfering With Play’ on Tuesdays, I’m going to start posting a weekly blog on Friday evenings so as not to ‘piss on his bonfire.’ I always look forward to Dan’s IWP come Tuesday, and I hope that eventually people can start looking forward to Friday evenings too! My name is Francis, I’m 20 years old and a lifelong Liverpool fan. I also do games testing once or twice a week for Microsoft/Xbox, so I’m waiting on the call to go and test PES ‘09!
I’m one of the five new bloggers, and along with Krishna, paulc, Steve from Stoke and dougiedonut, I hope we can raise a few more issues, and share opinions and views in a friendly and well-mannered environment!
Love of the game
I’ve always loved ‘PES’. Ever since Pro Evolution Soccer 1 came out on the PS2, I’ve been hooked! I still remember having that red and grey case sitting next to the console. Unfortunately I only ever saw the disc a couple of times; the first being when I put it in my PS2, and the second, when it got replaced with Pro Evolution Soccer 2! Since then, the gaming world and indeed Pro Evo itself have undergone large changes. Back then I’d dream of the day I could just turn the console on and play against someone from America! Unfortunately because I own an Xbox 360, that dream is yet to become reality…
I am a fan of PES ’08, and I do still play it regularly. For me the pace is not too fast, and the only things that trouble me are the free kicks, and the online lag which is just incredibly frustrating! In my opinion, it was a big step up from PES6 simply because of the power of the next generation consoles.
The Big Question
My big question this week is what would we, as PES fans, look for in the ultimate Pro Evo? Would it be an exact, lifelike replication of live football? For me, possibly. But if a completely realistic football game was released, would it be too slow paced? Would 70% of ten minute games end up 0-0? This leads onto the question of how realistic a game can get? I believe that in ten or fifteen years, games will be so unbelievably lifelike to the point that one wouldn’t be able to tell if they were watching a real football match, or a computerised one.
It’s a fair Kop
As I’ve mentioned, I’m a Liverpool fan. And a hugely frustrated one at that. We just can’t seem to consistently win the ‘smaller games,’ which I believe is the difference between being Premiership Champions, and third or fourth place.
The crisis at Anfield is one I’m sure most of you have read about in the papers or on the internet. Our American owners just don’t seem to be able to let Benitez do his job; they said Gareth Barry was too expensive, and then offer Benitez the same amount of money to make a bid for David Silva! But who can blame their misplaced faith? The squad rotation system obviously hasn’t been working, and Benitez seems to be the only one who can’t see this. I apologise for going off on one, but I truly believe that this season we have the strongest squad for at least ten years, and it seems as if somehow, come the end of this season, we again will be going for that elusive runners up spot!
That’s all for this Friday. I didn’t want to write too much with all the PES news, screenshots and everyone looking forward to an ‘official news release’ on Wednesday, but I’ll get my brother to upload my blog for me next Friday as I’ll be at Reading Festival! If people like, they can email me at francis_newall@hotmail.co.uk and comments on your preferences to what I talk about, whether you liked it, or just general comments on the article, are all very welcome.

Just a few images to tickle your PES 2009 tastebuds.
The first one could be the Lionel Messi packshot, all you need is the PES logo, a national shirt or club shirt and a footballing backdrop, i.e a stadium.
The second image is Lionel Messi, probably how he will look in the game. (I think this is a replay screenshot).
The third is just Cristiano Ronaldo, in his signature free kick stance.

Many thanks to PESfan.com and the WENB team who have listed all the changes to PES 2009 this year. Here you go:
Gameplay:
Close control more intuitive:
• Manual cursor control
• Adjusted trick control for easier control – more within natural control parameters than via special movements
Ball movement more realistic:
• Ball has always been treated as separate entity, but 2009 has new air resistance calculations for trajectory of ball
• Instant control. Buttons presses are no longer stored, making for a crisper playing style
• Heavier foot-in tackles, depending on the length X is depressed
• New friction routines to affect ball movement in terms of ground conditions
• Backspin routines calculated so ball slows accordingly
• The bounce of the ball can be used more effectively: players can flick the ball up to tee a shot, or to lift it over a defender’s trailing leg
• Skills are now integrated more into the game. If a player has the ability, they will be able to perform deft turns others cannot and will be able to feint and shimmy within the confines of the control system
• Player has to compensate for heaviness of ground when weighting passes in wet conditions or frozen ground
Teamvision enhanced:
• Tactics change according to situation
• Better off-the-ball movement – running to receive passes, etc
• AI recognizes strategies that work and accumulates data on an ongoing basis within Master League and League modes
Visuals:
Stadiums:
• Graphic depiction of weather conditions unique to each stadium
• Much more detailed lighting effects that mimic the time of day more closely
• Key new grounds like Wembley, in total about 20 stadiums
• LED Boardings (PS3 and 360 versions only)
Players:
• All new players models in game: everything reworked for additional detail
• Specific new animations to make the game flow more: players now stumble, place a hand down so as to keep running
• More individuality to movement of players: running and kicking styles, for instance: Ronaldo’s stance before a free kick
Camera:
• New vertical camera, allowing end-to-end view including ‘Player Focus’ zoom, panning in on key one-on-one situations
• New distance drawing techniques using adjusted chromatic fields
Front End – Menus:
• All new, clearer menu system
• Match stats now on sub-menus if required
• Much improved music choice
Edit:
Sound:
• In addition to the importation of graphic data, music and crowd chants can also be added
Graphics:
• Pixel Paint function allows users to create team badges from scratch
Game Modes:
Become a Legend:
• New long-term mode sees player guiding one player to glory
• Control the destiny of a midfield/striking star
• Player works within team structure, akin to popular ‘Fix’ mode – assisting play, scoring goals, etc
• Default vertical view
• Dedicated development data for player as game progresses
• Full range of transfer opportunities: but fail to play well and you will be demoted to bench or even transferred
• Based on popular Japanese mode, first time in Europe
Legends:
• Online version of ‘Become a Legend’
• Use player created in solo mode
• Play online with other ‘fixed’ position friends
• Intricate play and teamwork rewarded with PES points
• Upload finest moments for others to view and rate
Master League:
• More intuitive menus
• Easier to understand two-tier negotiations: team level and individual terms
• Loyalty: players unhappy with terms, etc, will not play as well. A happy player will play better.
Well, that’s it for now. Do you think we will notice these changes when the game comes out? Do you think it’ll make the game better? Do you just want to see some gameplay! Let your feelings be known in the comments.

As we approach the next few weeks of optimism for the new PES game, we thought we’d temper the blind faith we all will have in the next incarnation of the beautiful game, with a gentle reminder of the cracks that never seem to dissappear in PES games.
I know we’ve covered these sorts of topics in the past, but its good to get a bit of a refresher once in a while, its surprising how much we forget, or brush over about the game…
Now before some of you think why are we being so negative about PES, don’t worry, there will be a follow up article on everything we love about PES, but let’s get the negatives out the way first.
So then, what are your pet hates with PES games? What is it about PES that FIFA players abhor? This is an opportunity for everyone (especially FIFA addicts) to give it to us straight.
If things go well, we’ll even try to put this information to Konami themselves, in some vain hope that a future version of the game will address some of the problems we have with the game.
To start us off, I’ll name a couple of things that I don’t like about the game, in no particular order:
1. Goalkeepers being totally unresponsive when they’ve just caught the ball/made a save.
How many times do you wish you could make a quick break when the keeper has possession, and found yourself bashing your controller and swearing away whilst he calmly takes his sweet time??
2. The lob button. Sometimes when I’m clean through, instead of lashing the ball home, my striker tamely lobs the ball back to the keeper as gently as he can. This is because I’ve had the RB button pressed (R1 for PS2/3) whilst shooting. There’s no easy way to reconfigure the controller to stop that from happening! Most times I can remember to release the RB button, but there are times in the heat of the moment, i’m left cursing myself.
3. This is a really stupid one, but still relevant – you can’t change and save any other commentary language other than the default one. Everytime I fire PES up, I prefer listening to the Spanish commentary over the English one, but it’s never saved in the options file. So everytime I boot up, its the first thing I have to do.
I think I’ll stop there, to allow you guys to take over. I’m sure there must be a good few more that you’d all like to contribute.
Welcome to a very special edition of Interfering With Play. For readers who don’t visit every week, or those new to the site, you may not be aware but this is the first birthday of Interfering With Play, along with the 50th instalment of the column. Interfering With Play is an independently produced article that covers and discusses a number of topics from the gaming, football and football gaming worlds, in an informal and open manor. The whole point of the article is to provoke thoughts and opinions amongst readers, who in turn will contribute their opinions on what has been put each week. Yes, PESGaming.com is a Pro Evolution Soccer site, but many of us have interests that are not solely limited to the Konami game, and this is the perfect environment to discuss ideas with similar minded individuals, or in some cases argue with them! I always welcome new posters and contributors, so feel free the give you penny’s worth at the end of the article. With that said, lets get this week’s Interfering With Play rolling.
Lost In The Premier
As with the very first IWP article, it would be silly not to talk about the huge sporting event, beginning this Saturday, known as the English Premier League. Whilst many of you will be able to predict the top four and bottom two teams, without even looking at form, or new signings, there is no denying that the elite league provides some of the best, most open, attacking football seen in Europe. The strength of the Premier League was shown again in the previous campaign, with both Chelsea and Man United making it all the way to the Champions League Final, and both domestic cups were won by teams outside the top four for the first time in many years. Some people will claim the league is more predictable than the Spanish and Italian top flights, and to a certain extent this is true, but when it comes to relegation battles, the big teams dropping points against expected walkovers and hugely entertaining games (Portsmouth v Reading, Arsenal v Derby, Fulham v Man City etc.) there is no other league I would rather watch.
So, who are the likely teams for this season’s top honours, and who is most likely to break into the top four? Well, the join of the Premier League is that you can never be sure, and for that reason, I am taking predictions on who will win the three domestic cups this season. Incredibly, the Carling/Milk/Littlewoods/League Cup begins tonight, and having won that, Tottenham Hotspur have attracted some top talent from around Europe in order to make a serious challenge on another domestic success. For me personally, I can see Liverpool winning this competition, due to the sheer power of their squad. Unlike Man United and Arsenal, the red side of the Mersey have a second string full of experienced players as opposed to exciting youngsters, and providing they can see of Chelsea in the early rounds, I feel they will be too strong for any other sides they will play during the quarter final/ semi final period, that takes place during the fixture pile up just after Christmas. The F.A Cup on the other hand is a different story. With Wenger and Ferguson both tempted to throw in their big names, it could be another case of those to contesting the final, although if previous matches between the two are anything to go by, it will be nothing to write home about. However, I am going to allow my heart to rule my head on this decision, and go for Aston Villa. The side currently are everything that the Premier League and English football want to stand for, young, hungry, exciting to watch and mainly home grown, and on their day are capable of beating anyone. Man United has knocked them out so many times over the last few years, that they deserve a little luck of the draw, and hopefully will end up the season with some much deserved silverware.
The Premier League title, in my opinion is a three horse race. I still feel Benitez lacks the ability to motivate his players for the week in week out, must win encounters, which is the reason they do so well in the big champions league games. With this in mind, it is between Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea. There is no denying that Chelsea, once again, has the fair superior squad. The two players they have brought in ooze International class, and in the form of Deco, they have a multi time Champions League winner and has won titles wherever he has played. Couple this with the fact that they haven’t really lost anybody, and the side that took United to the last day in the previous campaign are going to be doing it again. United, providing that they keep Ronaldo happy, are going to be the team to beat again. They look very ordinary at times, but with their forward line, they can turn a 1-0 lead into a 4-0 or 5-0 one effortlessly, and take games away in the process. They have an exceptionally settled back four that is swimming with both cover and experience, and as long as the goals keep coming for Tevez and Rooney, its hard to see the trophy ending up anywhere else. Yet my prediction is one based on my love of flowing football, and therefore is Arsenal. Three seasons without any major titles is not acceptable for a side that posses such raw talent and plays some of the best football in Europe, and no trophy this season will see some of the stars look for new pastures to fulfil that silver itch. Whilst still young, players like Clichy, Fabregas and Walcott have got to start turning there top performances into consistent ones, and with new signings such as Nasri, and returning players such as Rosicky and Eduardo, you get the feeling its now or never for this generation of young guns at the Emirates.
So there are my three shouts for domestic honours this season. Feel free to drop yours in the form of a comment or e-mail and I will keep a note of them until May. Of course, it is just for fun, but its nice to wager your football knowledge against others, and the result is an interest in all of the competitions throughout the season.
PES 2009, Too Much To Ask
I think with PES2009 starting to gather some pace, there is a feeling of both anticipation and nervousness in the air, in particular surrounding the online modes of the game. I have played PES online, via PC, since its inception in PES 4, and never had a lag spoiled game until PES 6 on PC, which ruined the whole online experience for me. I have dabbled since then on the PS3 version, but realise that lag makes the game exceptionally hard to read, and as many will claim, luck plays as much of a role as skill does. So with PES 2009 just around the corner, are we expecting the online problem to just disappear, and the game to run smoothly. Metal Gear Online proves that Konami can produce a working online Multiplayer title that requires quick thinking, real time decisions and online technology has progressed quickly and efficiently over the past 12 months, with pretty much every game featuring some kind of online modes, be the multiplayer or simple leader boards. So on paper this should translate into a better online gaming experience for all PES gamers? Well, I definitely hope so. With Fifa constantly providing enjoyable and variable online games, coupled with a user interface that is easy to use, and makes playing online as simple as playing offline, Konami can not afford to miss out on this aspect of the market, doing so will be a blow they may never recover from. And this goes for more than just the actual in game experience. I am of course referring to the ability to create online tournaments, send messages, create large game rooms, access downloadable content, or simply see other gamers information without having to trawl through pages and pages of menus. These are features that have been going on in other games for the last two years, and the patient PES gamers are starting to get bored of the same old excuses.
The Interfering With Play League
The Interfering With Play league has been running for a couple of weeks now, and overall is going pretty smoothly. 90% of matches have been played up to date, and whilst lag is no doubt playing a part in some matches, overall the scores are reflecting real football, and the selection of teams is resulting in no one side running away with the table, so far! One gamer has been experiencing connection problems, and therefore has had to leave the league, resulting in an opening occurring should anyone want to join. The side available are FC Porto, and if you are interested, you must be a PS3 gamer, have a working e-mail address and Internet connection, and be able to get in touch as soon as possible. E-mail the usually address if you are interested in taking part, for further details.
River Island, No, Top Shop, No… New Look
I am currently speaking to a couple of individuals regarding a logo for Interfering With Play, to tie in with our new look and the beginning of our second year! I have a personal favourite, but am slightly concerned regarding copyright at the moment, so it may take a couple of weeks to clear up all the legal sides. Until that stage, Interfering With Play will follow the same format of short topics and easy to read sections. Anyone with any suggestions for the future of Interfering With Play (and I personally have about 30 or so new ideas for the next 12 months) is more than welcome to suggest them via e-mail,
Happy Birthday, Interfering With Play
Finally this week, I would like to wish the column a very Happy Birthday! It started out on the forum as a simple post, and following some correspondence with Peter Willis, has become a weekly feature of PESGaming.com. I am aware that Peter has taken a slight back seat in the running of PESGaming.com and would to wish him thanks for all his support over the past 12 months. I look forward to working with Matt, and hopefully PESGaming.com will continue to grow in its current manor. This column is something I really enjoy doing, as I have always liked writing, and always have a lot of opinions, but it would really mean nothing without the readers, and the contributors, who do so much to provide talking points and keep the weeks ticking over. It pretty easy to talk about PES when its just come out, but to have people carrying on with discussions 10 months after the title is released is a credit to you, lets just hope Konami starts to see the dedication we all have for, what I believe, is the best football game on the market. Recently, matt posted a comment asking for new bloggers or people to contribute to the site in a number of ways, to which one individual responded, “man what makes y’all think I wanna be a part of ya little firm?” I couldn’t help but smile at this because at the end of the day, there is no pay, no glamour, no glory, and everyone involved with this site does it simply, for the love of game. And that’s what it is totally all about.
To end this years proceedings, I have decided to induct four posters into the IWP “Hall Of Fame” for their contributions over the past 12 months. They have all been regulars, and whilst we may have had differences of opinions on a number of occasions, it is these kinds of people that keep the site ticking over. I speak to none of these individuals via MSN, and don’t know any of their real names. The four people are Steve From Stoke, assache, mn9ajas and dougiedonut. Whilst I know I have many more readers and more people do in fact take part in discussions, it has been these four that have earned my time and respect for their support of Interfering With Play for the past year. If you’re a silent reader, or a fan who occasionally posts, I ask that you get more involved in debates and conversations over the next 12 months, as I would love to make the Interfering With Play hall of fame a big deal!
So that’s it, for year one, and this week. Interfering With play started off life as a 500 word column talking very briefly about certain things, and has now turned into a 2,000 word plus weekly article read by thousands at work or school, with its own associated league, a player of the year award and even a posting hall of fame! I thank everyone greatly for their support and hope for another successful and enjoyable year of writing and interaction! danbolas@hotmail.com is the place where your e-mail can reach me, and please leave your comments regarding your predictions for next season, it would be quality if someone got all three right, especially if they were seemingly ‘unpredictable’. Interfering With Play will be back next Tuesday, and every Tuesday!
