IWP League Champion 2008: Martin Ginnelly (River Plate)
Welcome to this week’s Interfering With Play. I would like to start this column with a look forward towards the next few weeks at PESGaming.com, and in particular what the site is planning to bring you, the PESGaming.com public. As always, the site has its three regular columns, In The Red, PES Off and of course IWP, which will continue to run throughout the next few months, featuring talking points from the world of football gaming along with other relevant issues. If there is a topic you would like to see raised in one of these columns, feel free to get in touch with the relevant author, who will be more than happy to bring up any new features or discussion points. To compliment my weekly Interfering With Play, I will also be writing two reviews, one of FIFA 2009 and one of PES 2009 which will be made available for download. These will be coupled with a comparison of the two games, which will be as fair and equal as I see possible, and will use the views from my own personal experiences as well as those from other websites. This will all be backed up with the latest Pro Evolution Soccer news, regarding downloadable content, server and online issues as well as online leagues and tournaments PESGaming.com plans to run over the next 12 months. With the future looking busy, lets move onto this week’s Interfering With Play.
“Video Killed The Radio Star”
I would like to start this week with a topic that is a personal favourite of mine, video editing. Anyone who watches Soccer AM or the majority of Sky Sports football broadcasts has to agree that the quality of the video highlights packages are excellent, and at times steal the show from the actual topic at hand. Features such as Showboat are a simple yet effective way of showing off the latest tricks and skills quickly, and are very easy to watch. The fact that Pro Evolution Soccer, for many years now, has given us the option to save our replays and goals to be viewed at a later date seems to put forward the question, why are we unable to create our own little video highlights packages, maybe for distribution in a community environment?
Consolegoals, a popular football gaming website, has for many years ran a Goal Of The Month competition using goals from Pro Evolution Soccer. The video clips however, range from the very shaky camera phone quality on consoles, to crystal clear screen grabs from PC versions of PES, leaving the average gamer with no real opportunity to get their best efforts onto the world stage. At the current time of writing, I know Sony are looking towards adding an action grabbing feature to their XMB, allowing you to physically record the game your playing and turn it into video format, but this is still along way off. Whilst at the same time, the latest instalment of Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 allows you to edit a group of Replays together, using screen and sound effects in order to create a top draw highlights package to brag to your mates with.
I said in last week’s column, that community gaming is the way forward, and this can expressed in a huge way with the ability to manipulate your own goals or video packages. The simplest solution would be for Konami to turn replay saves into common video formats (.avi or .mpg) meaning they could be saved and viewed on the console, or imported via USB to a PC where editing and online posting is easier. The other alternative is to have a piece of editing software built into the game, as the latest WWE game has, and allow you to edit ‘on the fly’. Other games out there, notably Halo, also provide this service, and with showing off a huge part of football gaming, it’s a feature that should definitely be featured in future instalments of football titles.
“When Two Tribes Go To War”
I have to smile when I read some of the comments left on PESGaming.com, as I mentioned last week. I praise EA for showing decent marketing initiative, and I become a FIFA fan. I slate Konami for poor PR skills and suddenly I hate Pro Evolution Soccer. That’s kind of like saying because I dislike Pickled Onion Monster Munch I hate crisps! I have cleared my case in last week’s column, but would like to bring out a point that will compliment the comparison between Fifa 09 and PES09 in a few weeks time. I am a football fan. I am also a gaming fan. I want to play the best football game available. I don’t care who makes it, if its Konami, or EA or even Codemaster’s or Eidos! I am not sure whether the best football game would be an accurate interpretation of the sport in game format, or a version of the sport that is tailored towards playability, yet I am sure that for the past few years, my personal choice has always been Pro Evolution Soccer. Familiarity also plays a huge part, as it does with many other gaming franchises. There are, no doubt, people who will argue between Halo 3 and Call Of Duty 4, or Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gears Of War and in each of these cases, the game that you have spent more time on, or are more used to, will normally win over your personal opinion. This is why I have spent a fair bit of time with FIFA 09, trying to work out that familiarity in order to give an impartial and fair review of both titles.
Its not going to surprise many people which game is going to win my personal battle, and indeed which game I will still be playing come September 2009, but my decision will be based totally at the games involved, not the company that makes them, the players that sponsor them or the colour box they come in!
“We’ve Only got Four Minutes”
I have always been one to edit my PES straight away. As I have said before, it’s either spending my first weekend editing or download an option file pretty soon. I would like to reiterate a point raised last week, that there are some great option files already available on the web. People spend a lot of time creating them, and whether it is just an e-mail or comment to say thank you, the relevant author will always appreciate it.
The main purpose for me saying what follows is down to the huge number of e-mails received on the subject. At the current moment in time, no one is 100% sure what the official Konami patch is going to edit or change, or even when it will be made available. What normally happens in these cases is that the game automatically updates, and anything that it needs to change it will do so without asking. As a result, transfers and editing may all be changed as soon as this patch installs itself, and it will install itself, meaning you might lose everything your have edited. This includes custom teams, kits and option files. I therefore encourage the solution to wait and see what happens when the patch installs, which should be no longer than two weeks away before creating your own teams or spending hours making sure every player is created and at the right club. It may save you a lot of frustration in the long run.
As I have said there are some top option files available, and as soon as the patch issue is done and dusted, PESGaming.com will provide a comprehensive review of the best files out there. I personally also find it very frustrating not having the correct kits and logos for the English sides, but a couple of weeks waiting is better than a couple of weeks wasted. You have been warned!!
“Lets Get These Teen Hearts Beating Faster”
I wrote a few weeks ago regarding trophies, and how I was hoping they’d be featured in Pro Evolution Soccer. I am fully aware that the achievements for X Box 360 work exceptionally well on the title, as well as being aware that trophies or achievements are exceptionally addictive. Hopefully the patch will also add trophies to the PS3 version of the game, although there is no official word on this from Konami, so I wouldn’t be holding my breath. What I am quite sure of though is that trophies will not be backward compatible, meaning if you want to earn these trophies, you may have to complete tasks you have already done. Very frustrating, as I am sure those of you playing Burnout Paradise or Grand Theft Auto IV will back up.
What I will say though, and this is going back against my previous views that I am impressed with how good trophies or achievements are. I was the first to think that developers would add these as opposed to quality unlockable items for games, but instead they have enhanced many games that would have been too easy to complete or too short. I know 360 gamers will appreciate this, but it is a great way to compete against your mates, and is a genuinely solid reason for playing many games to completion, on harder difficulties or even multiple times!
“You’ve Got The Music In You”
Thanks to everyone who supported the IWP PES Playlist feature over the past month. The full list is available below, but be sure to check out some other peoples alternatives in the comments section, as there are some fine tunes in the mix. I would like to take this opportunity to once again remind you that PESGaming.com and Interfering With Play does not support warez or illegal file downloading. Please support the artists or bands and download via official means.
I am personally delighted with the ability to import music and chants, but at the same time have a cheeky smile on my face every time I hear Go For The Goal in the background during the pre match scenes and build up. Like an old school teacher, it really used to bother me to the point where I would intentionally stop listening, but when I hear it now it has a nostalgic value that makes it almost good! A very nice touch from Konami! The music overall in PES2009 is much better than 2008, and although the ability to import tracks could have meant that Konami completely slack on the preset tracks, they have actually provided one or two songs of genuine quality. Two hats off to Konami on one paragraph, must be nearly Christmas!
“These Word Are My Own”
My final point this week is a quote made by regular poster passthedutchie, member of the IWP Hall Of Fame.
‘A couple of friends of mine will be over at the weekend to rehearse for our band. In between rehearsing, we will have a few games of PES and a few beers, this, to me is entertainment and at a cost of £40 (pro rata over a year) + beers. That type of weekend will be repeated a number of times over the coming year, so, you may understand that I do not feel let down at all.’
Right there is exactly what PES is all about, and when you put £40 into the context of a year, or over 250 hours of game time, your realise that the game isn’t a rip off, and that if you feel let down by it, simply don’t purchase it or play another title. As I said earlier, I know which game I will be playing come September 2009, and I know that £40 is cheap for the amount of time spent using that game.
That’s your lot for this week’s Interfering With Play. Feel free to get in touch via the usual channels, interferingwithplay@hotmail.com is your safest bet, but comments are also appreciated. I am still working my way through the huge number of e-mails from the past 7 days, so please bear with me if you haven’t received a reply. I am currently playing a great deal of Warhawk on PS3. In my personally opinion, it’s a great game, and also a superb starting point for collection trophies, if you’re a newbie to all of that. If you play the game, and would like to either join a clan or have a couple of games online, send me and e-mail with your PSN ID and I will add you. Am looking to make an official IWP Clan, so would be nice if it was done exclusively with members from this site. Thanks, as always to Dave Ostrander for the IWP Logo!
Thanks for Reading

another gr8 article m8
Good read. Makes me think it would be nice to see a review of the top ten or more greatest football games of all time (regardless of the year they were released or the platform they were on). My list would be as follows:
10.Super Soccer (SNES)
9. Sensible Soccer (various platforms)
8. WE 8
7. WE 9
6. ISS 98
5. Fifa 08
4. Fifa 09
3. PES 09 (360/PS3)
2. WE 6(FE) (PS2)
1. Winning Eleven 10 (PS2) – good balance all around, my personal favourite, but I wish it had Fantasista in it like J-League 2007/08, so maybe that would be up there too?
Surely I’ve missed some greats… I haven’t had the time to really think about it, but let me know what you would add or subtract.
WHATS DIS ABOUT WWE GAMES??
totally agree with you about achievments making games last longer as it makes you play it to completion or on a harder setting i spent some hours completing one level on call of duty 4 hardest setting as well as playing leagues in pes that i wouldnt noermally play ie: the french league great blog as usual
You don’t like pickled onion Monster Munch? :(
Nice article again this week
-F
Dave O,what about Emlyn Hughes International soccer,Kick Off, Micro pros soccer ,and for gods sake were is Football manager?
Great read as always Dan. Looking forward to reading your reviews of PES2009 and FIFA09.
You, my friends across the pond, are a lucky bunch. Still about 2 weeks to go till PES 2009 comes out in Canada.
Oddly enough, FIFA 09 comes out here today. I think Konami has made a huge blunder by letting FIFA come out earlier. A lot of people on the fence about their footiegame of choice won’t be waiting two more weeks to decide. Oh well, sucks for them. Two more weeks! (But seriously, bad decision… Would it have hurt to release the game the same time as FIFA?)
Oh and yes. Well written. In days of bias and little parity… it’s refreshing reading a middle-of-the-road article.
good shout on the video highlights package… during a season / career you should be able to select certain goals for your end of season highlights reel or something. the trouble is when you save a replay it doesn’t just save a video file does it… it saves the whole dam kit’n kaboodle… like it saves a whole match. know what i mean?
When is konami update coming out plzzzzzzzzz?
HOPE THE KONAMI PATCH, WILL CURE THE POOR DEFENDING IN ONLINE MODE OR IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Player selection is ****, pro 2009 is rubbish, to easy to score, to hard to defend (because player selection is not even as good as last years), it is now an arcade game instead of a simulation. So far as i’m concerned there is now a gap in the market for a good football game as there isn’t one at the moment. A sad day
Terry (pro evo – SNES, PS, PS2 & PS3)…a sad day
@ black person
no offence mate but i dont understand a word u are saying.
ive been playing PES09 for a good two weeks now and i dont think i like it anymore. its missing something that the PS2 versions had that freedom with the player the fredom to move in any directiona nd make fluid build up play. Konami ahve got it wrong again and its not even funny no more. why cant they make a ps3 PES taht is better that teh PS2 version taht is disgraceful and they ahve lost a die hard fan. However i wont be going to FIFA although i admit it is the better game this year.
fifa is a real next gen game. Pes use the same old graphics/gameplay engine
I always enjoy your blog mate! thank you for writing :)
Can someone please explain what the hassle is regarding this “Next gen” thing? What is it?
If i had to choose between excellent graphics and good gameplay vs. excellent gameplay vs. good graphics, id prefer excellent gameplay and good graphics…
I will still play Games like:
Final Fight
R-type
Wardner
just because theyre classics and have great gameplay…
Liverpool Legend – Mate my own opinion, but i totally disagree with you pal. PES 2009 in my opinion is the best footy game in the PES series that i have played. In the 2008 version i was disappointed with the online mode, however after the patches were made available it was more playable, and i played a true 10 months worth of games, loads. The PES 2009 version has got me back to the excitement of playing against the computer, i used to think “why is everyone so happy about the champions league” now i understand, it is superb, i great challenge. I don’t and will not call myself a great player, however i will say that i am decent and the lastest installment has really challenged me. The online mode did do my head in at the beginning but ive now realised that if you play someone that has a solid yellow light on and you have the same or better (green) you’ll have a lag free game. The defending is something to get used to, but i have found that putting pressure on the opposition player results in easier tackling etc……
How can you say FIFA is a better game mate????? I honestly want to know. My mate has gone and bought FIFA instead of PES, im gutted because he was the original dude that introduced me to PES, but he is shouting that it is great but then again he said the online is crap……I think you’ll always get people with different opinions.
Dan, something that interests me mate and something that you keep ignoring, and not commenting on!!! You keep going on and on and on about the EA marketing department, yes i agree that the EA marketing department is good, huge infact. But of course it would be by the trashy franchise that they sell with mega buck sponsourship deals. I pointed out that WENB were given a free copy of PES 2009. Perhaps you should investigate how they got one and not PESGAMING. Would appreciate your response mate??
hey guys,
great article again…
speaking of goal compilations – comments on my lil mix would be appreciated
the link is
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=v1SnKoYw-ME&watch_response
bearing in mind its my second time using windows movie maker and also expermimenting with diff camera angles. its pes 2008.
cheers
This is my legends record:
10 games
50 goals
250 asists
and so on
50 goals and 250 assists in 10 games???? whats your difficulty?
i hope the new PES update will includes player stats changes, some of them are appalling, how can torres’ speed and acceleration points slower than rooney’s???? and a longer list im not going to put down.
HALFWAY…..hes dificulty is probably in his dream.. ha ha
Halfway, KONAMI always get the stats wrong, Torres should be a lot faster as you mentioned but also look at how average fabregas and Adebayor are for arsenal, they two of the best players in the world. But its the same every year, im used to it now!!!
Yes, What is your difficulty BlackPanther?
i must suck played 15 games 5 goals 7 ass that means you have won every game 30- something i smells a farm yard!
How can you have 50 goals and 250 assists?
Great article again Dan! :)
The keepers are pish i was raging as every shot the comp hit they went in if they were right at him with power i had lots of 3-3 and 4-3 wins but still pissed me off.
I think your monster munch thing is a little wrong.
1.pes and Fifa are two flavours of one thing-football
2.Pickled onion is one flavour of one thing-crisps
therefore what you are saying is that you are being accused of hating football and not a flavour, just thought id point that out :)
what you should of said is that just because youv tried a new flavour doesnt mean you dont like the ones you normaly eat
I’m still waiting for PES 2009 to be released in Australia…….
@halfway, Konami does an excellent job with stats. They really bring out the individuality of each player brilliantly. The players speed isn’t everything; agility, body balance and dribble accuracy/speed really make a difference. Messi isn’t that fast, but he looks like the fastest because his agility is ridiculous and PES brings that out nicely. And Torres is definitely NOT faster than Rooney, without the ball… just maybe… but Torres with the ball is nowhere near “quick”.
Fabregas stats have “always looked average” because people just notice speed and shooting. And just like the real Fab, speed and shooting is not his game. Use him properly, and you’ll have an amazing midfield that goes through him.
any1 know where a good option file is? ive searched but cant find any! cheers guys
So…Benni McCarthy…is his ratings fair?
Who is the best strikers in the game?
Who is the best defenders in the game?
O yeah…is South Africa in PES 2009?
@ Moe Sizlack – I’m from Canada, so I haven’t heard of most of those games (except Football Manager, which I played a bit of on PC). I’ll def look em up though and try to get my hands on them, since I do a lot of importing and it sounds like I should have those in my footy collection.
PS – To those who play Pro Evo on the default (normal) difficulty level: It’s way too easy on that mode, and doesn’t reflect the heart of the game. There is a big jump between that difficulty level and the next one up.
Hi all,
For those who don’t like PES 2009, I would like to inform you about a new website which is purely built to express disappointment with new PES 2009 game (especially online play etc.)
This website aims to bring PES fans around the world together and pressure Konami to fix the problems with the game, make online play more stable and increase the quality of the game like previous PES games (before 2008) that we used to love and play.
http://www.iwantmypesback.com
Please share this website with your PES lover friends. The more, the merrier!
Thanks
Balcik
Agree with @17Deanosbaggio, @20Liverpool legend, and @21Tommy.
Pes 2009 is not a great game this year again! I’ve given it two weeks solid play, which against friends has been reasonably enjoyable, but against the com teams it is very boring.
These are the faults I have found with Pes 2009 so far-
1) What better place to start than then goal keepers, better than last year, though still let in some ridiculous howlers, the save animations don’t always match the situation, the sound effects are pretty bad, sounding more like a paper envelope being slapped against a stick, than a hand hitting a ball.
2) Player positioning is poor, watch a proper football match, players stand of one another waiting for attackers to make a mistake. In pes players run around like lynch mobs in bands of three charging players like they are kids playing youth football, before they learn how to hold their position. Players don’t run where you want them too, or where they would run in real life or the Ps2 editions of pes- example play a one two with a wide player, in past editions they would have made a run straight down the wing, now they run diagonally into the centre, or make a narrow run meaning they don’t use the full width of the pitch, resulting in play becoming compact in the centre of the park. Also after an attack when the opponent is about to take a goal kick, central defenders such as John Terry are standing in Rooneys position up front, the ball is kicked down the field only to find midfielder’s covering his position while Terry legs it back like an idiot. In fact players are often out of position resulting in a jumbled mess, I don’t Know if this is Konami’s attempt at portraying real life player rotations, which the likes of Man Utd use on a regular bases, all I know is it hasn’t worked, equalling what looks more like an under eleven kids match than top professional football, defenders at corners often stand around in a big clump, even when implementing man marking, then when the corner comes in often as many as four opponents are left unmarked, then either the ball is headed in the net or a pinball session ensues, consequently leading to a scrappy goal or a scrappy clearance.
3)The Passing, fluid movement and angles made by the positions of players in Pes 1,2,3,4,5,6 has been ruined, in fact this is my biggest problem with the game and is why I don’t like it. Players don’t make realistic angles any more, when you look at play as a whole it looks like play has been squashed together, a diagonal pass or shot is not played at the same angle as in previous versions, the degree of the angle has changed, meaning the passing patterns and angles that the beautiful game portrays in real life, or past editions of Pes are not represented in Pes2009. This makes Passing moves look ugly and it has become more effective to run past the whole defence with just one player and score, than to use good passing movement, positional play and formations to get goals.
Overall I could have gone on for hours here with the issues I have with the next gen PS3 version of Pes, but overall I think I’m just going to add what ruins it for me and why I also think there are no good football games on the market at the moment, which will only get worse if Konami disappear.
Pes just doesn’t feel right any more, and does not reward you with goals earned by good, fluid, inventive, skill full play that you could only get if you put in hours of practice. I Used feel like I was creating a master piece every time I scored a goal, the movement, the angles, the skill of the players, all that was reminiscent of real football and why I love the game. And that is it for me in a word Pes used to allow me to CREATE and now it doesn’t, almost like an artist having his paint brushes and a plethora of colours taken away and having it replaced with a Blue biro Pen and being told to get on with it.
Pes used to be dynamic, now its rigid. It used to be creative, now it’s bland, It used to be realistic, now it’s arcade, it used to be football, now it’s not!
So cheers Konami it was good while it lasted, I’ll see you again next year, that’s if your still around.
pes 09 is wank! iv a big fan but wot a load of crap it is 2 fifa 09 roll on fifa 2010
Dave O, You would probably struggle to get hold of some of them games now,Emlyn Hughes International soccer and micro pros soccer were out in the 80s for the Spectrum and Commodore 64, Kick Off was out at the start of the 90s for the amiga just before the brilliant sensible soccer. They look very dated now but at the time they were fantastic and were the building blocks for todays footy games.
McDermott, how many more times are you gonna tell people you dont like pes 09 then state your reasons? WE KNOW!WE KNOW!WE F*CKING KNOW! stop taking the boring pills will you. Go and get your end away or watch pornhub or something.
ok then everyone wants to kno my little secret.(how i got 50 goals and 250 asists from 10 games)
20 min matches + easiest difficuilty + best pes player (me)
= 50 goals, 250 asists in 10 games.
please dnt be offended if i am too good.
Filip, I’m in Australia too but I preordered my game from EB and it arrived last Saturday, though the official release date is the 30th. Despite many of the negative opinions about PES2009, I’m actually thoroughly enjoying the experience and have fallen in love with PES again. For me its a big improvement over PES2008. Sure its not perfect and I agree with some of the quirks outlined in previous posts. For me though, I love my soccer/football and that sustains my motivation to play soccer/football themed games on my PS3, so much so that I continued to play PES2008 for the past year even though I was disappointed with Konami’s effort like many people. I personally prefer the gameplay in PES over FIFA, so given the choice I’m very happy with PES2009.
@39 why don’t you Piss Off Sizlack, you always feel like you have to stick your penny’s worth in, I tell you what bores me is having to read your unintelligible comments about what other people have to say. And I already did get my end away with your mum last night.
So why don’t you go super glue your hand to your penis and then let everyone know how boring you found that, while typing your usual amount of offensive bollocks about other peoples comments.
@ BlackPanther – wow. You’re amazing!!!!
…not.
BlackPanther your a fag, playing on the easies difficulty
please dont be offended that i think your suffering from retardation
Well done McDermott, that post was alright,at least it wasnt about how bad pes is.Mind you i doubt you were shagging my mam last night, not unless you call sticking your dick in a urn full of ash shagging that is,what ever floats your boat mate.
I thought Simon made some good points, fair enough let him tell us he doesnt like PES this time round, but at least he states his reasons and puts what Konami can do to rectify the situation.
Fair play to him aswell, he comes up with some good ideas.
I think anyone that is going to blindly follow and thereby support any franchise, be they fifa or pes, is not doing the fans of football gaming any good. Blindly purchasing products will only result in more substandard games for the following years, so fair enough Simon, good points mate and keep your interesting and well-thought out analysis coming, no matter who says what.
PES 2009 is fantastic when i am playing my mates, really good against the computer, and crap online. But i wouldnt swop it for anythink, its entaertaining and i know i will be playing it all year. Dont know why people slate it so bad? its well, well worth £40-£50 (i payed £28 at ASDA) for a full years gaming.
And my main aim for this years game is to be as good as BlackPanther. What a player!!!!
… NOT!!!!!!!!!!
i love mickey
alright what nligger has been using simons name?
Ultimate fuk u. u racist red kneck u wasteman. give me you address and ill get my shank and make u another statistic in the news bedrin. B.B.Burger boi blood.
owh gawd, another racist attack..crap.
but to be a bit stereotype to fit into such racist comments, i will now potray myself as a typical asian man.
(btw, i am asian)
-herro, PES, why scare? angry at Konami-san? PRES2009 the breast in world Asia..i tewl yuhh nowa, thrat Fifra2009 isa the wrongest gamah in za werl. I scary see you, now the because sad angry ang-moh fighta with tha hitam mana. so srad. so rad. hello-goodbye.i thrink thisa posta isa grood dis ear. thank yew mista Dana-san.-
okay it was a mix of boredom of racism and PES-haters. i think Dan made a very good point. However, let’s respect those who decided to either join the Fifa fandom or decided to forgo both games this year, let’s just enjoy what we have..life is to ****in’ short for this kind of thing.
Post 46 was Simon McDeromott praising his own posts under a different name. Your a bit of a loser really aren’t you Simon.
holy mackerel batman.
And i thought soap dramas only happen on TV.
how can anyone say pes2009 is a great game, it is ****e!! i could defend better in pes2008, which i believe is better than this peice of rubbish. at least i could defend in pes 2008, now players jus stand there or run around out of position. tackling don’t count for nothing as when my players challenge then stand around star struck when the ball is lose!! i have people penned in their half batttering their goal with awful shooting, the ball breaks from a bad pass which i never did!! or the my players tackle each other!! the oppposition breaks with the ball(messi, ronaldo, roony, players does turns left and right which i anticipate, but yet my defender jus stops and let’s then thru with no challenge acting baffled, or jus runs into them and misses the ball. they shoot at my keeper, keeper saves it!!! no defenders react for the rebound, goal its a tap in!! and that’s how i seem to lose. and i’ve only lost so far to people who play as man utd, or barcelona in ranking matches. my good play and passing counts for nothing in this game, a load of cods wallop.
i keep hearing from a lot of people not just on this website but where i live that fifa2009 is better. to be honest i wouldn’t be suprised, i mite give it a try. hardcore pes fan no more, loyalty out the window.
RE: SIMON MCDERMOTT.
Basically i’m totally agreed what you have mentioned, the gameplay looks arcade, player positioning ability not good, passing looks diffrent….master league gameplay not deep enough and bored….honestly i’m only rate this game 7.5/10…
But from another view i really appreciate what konami have done to ensure the improvement from pes2008…..you know why? once again, this was the third times that i need let all of you know that, even the gameplay feels arcade, but it almost real as the real football match as we can see on tv. i’m not liar,.. after so many times i make the comparison in between the pes and live football match.. i found that pes almost 95% close with today live football match simiulation….( i’m switch on my sony bravia LCD tv special features, my tv able the shown tv broadcast and ps3 gameplay screen both at the same time,i ‘m compared them last saturday night(i’m from malaysia) with everton vs manchester united, from there i can saw the everton pace and passing are so quick especially second half, while i’m played master league by using manu..the tempo of passing and the pace almost same as pes2009…and the dribble also looks really close as what we can see in pes2009..from the match you can see yakubu dribble and pass over wes brown for several times.
Therefor, you looking
@53Moderator
Post 46 was not me if you like you can check the IP address to make sure!
So get your facts right before calling me a loser.
Just because like a lot of long term fans I find the current edition of Pes more like Fifa used to be than it has ever been, doesn’t give you the right to call me a loser.By excepting poor quality and uninspiring versions of Pes we are supporting the path Konami are taking the franchise down, instead of constructively using the power of the web site and fan base to let them know what fans really think of the game. Instead of excepting a game as good simply because it has the Konami and Pes logo slapped on it, we should be honestly voicing the unambiguous and veridical view that Pes on the PS3 has not been any where near next gen quality in either graphics or gameplay, and with a bit of imagination and inspiration from us the fans, could be transformed into the game we all want it to be.
I know by rocking the boat and becoming the nail that stands out from the rest this leaves me open to abuse and attack, though my motive is just like yours that I just would like to see Pes move forward and reclaim its former glory before EA ends the rain of another sporting franchise. It’s not like I’m saying Pes should become your life, that really would be sad, I’m saying that instead of excepting mediocrity, we should use the pulling power of the forum to allow Konami to better understand what their western counterparts would like to see, in both gameplay game modes ect.
So slate me, call me a boring wanker if you like I don’t care, if that’s what you think then there’s nothing I can do about that, I’m just trying to show people that we could have a greater input than we currently are.
You are a prick mcdermott
