Interfering With Play – Tuesday 5th January 2010

Welcome to a New Year at PESGaming.com, and perhaps equally importantly, a brand new decade. Not to spend too long on the past, but 10 years ago, PES was just making a name for itself on the Playstation 2. There were no big names promoting the product, no cross console options (ISS was branded as a different game) and features such as downloadable content were nothing more than a pipe dream for the average gamer. 10 years on, and the game has improved, but is still fundamentally the same product. The limited number of games modes may have slightly been expanded, but the new additions (online and BAL) have so far failed to outshine the old favourites, most namely, The Master League. As we move into this decade, Konami’s awareness of its fan base is arguably greater than ever, and with EA Sports now producing a quality title to rival PES, it is time for the Japanese to prove they can still make a top level football game. Over the past ten years, it would have to be said that Pro Evolution Soccer won the battle for football franchise of the decade. However, it was a victory on points, and not the straight knockout that many would have expected after Pro Evolution 6 arrived in our consoles. The next 10 months will pretty much decide the future of football gaming once and for all, and whilst I much prefer PES 2010 to the FIFA counterpart, I am well aware that this is the year that PES will have to be nigh on perfect, or face being replaced as the top football franchise. With this said, lets crack on to the future with this week’s Interfering With Play.

“What’s Going On”

Two weeks off, and I for one and personally itching to get back in the saddle. I have received many e-mails regarding a number of issues, and thought it would be best to address the plans for this site over the next month or two. For regular visitors, the January to March time is usually the quietest period in the PES calendar. Excluding the post-January transfer window update, there is usually little official regarding news from Konami, with April and May seeing the announcement of a new instalment to the PES franchise. Therefore, we usually use this time to put together a structured suggestion list for Konami for future improvements for the next game, and this year, I genuinely believe we have a chance to make a difference.

Like many of you, I was exceptionally disheartened two years ago with the lack of response to my own personal letter to Konami. I felt let down by a company whom I have supported as a customer from the 90’s.  However, the last few months have given me renewed hope a sincere expectation that we can actually make a difference, and striking whilst the iron is hot and the game is very much is its infancy is the way forward.

I will personally look at a couple of different ways of taking your views on board, with the option of holding a couple of chat room events to let people get their points across in a PM style environment. On top of this, I am sure Double D, the man responsible for most of the direct Konami contact, will have many ideas as of ways to get your ideas and formulate them into a working plan.

But this site won’t just become an ideas base. We support PES, and therefore will offer a number of different articles, features and competitions designed to get you, the PESGaming.com community involved. PRO-ve Your Skills will return in June, with the opportunity to show off your unique PES playing talents, whilst there will be a number of other events and tournaments taking place throughout the next 6 months, which will lead us nicely to the summer, when the hype begins all over again.

I would like to remind you that this site is up to you guys, if there is an issue or topic you feel needs discussing, let us know and we will get it out there. My e-mail address is located at the bottom of this column.

“Don’t You, Forget About Me”

Needless to say, I haven’t forgotten about the IWP League either. I am in talks with a couple of sponsors for the league this year that may or may not be able to offer some form of prizes. Until this is decided, I am reluctant to sort out drawings, groups and even the format of the league itself. With so many entrants, there will have to be a cut off, and a reserve list. I can only apologise in advance if you don’t make the league this time, and urge you to try again in future years.

What I will say as a quick reminder to those that have applied to the IWP League is that there are no ‘major’ teams involved. There will be no Real Madrid v. Barcelona dribble fests in this competition. I contemplating using unlicensed teams this time, for the first time, and maybe even upgrading the pay packet to include teams like Liverpool and Juventus, however if I feel a team would make a huge difference, and allow a weak player to outclass a far stronger one, then I will make sure they are not featured in the competition. If there are teams people would like to see added into the reckoning, please feel free to place them in a comment or e-mail, and I will take a look at them personally.

“Stop Me, Oh Stop Me”

Thank you to everyone who has got in touch with me regarding PES crashing. The problem seems to relate to the PS3 system only, and occurs whilst the players are waiting in the tunnel pre-game. This is completely unacceptable in this day and age, and whilst games may experience occasional glitches and crashes, especially in volatile online environments, to have an offline error constantly crash the system is not good enough, and this will be relayed back to Konami during our next correspondence with them. The problem does seem to be limited to certain stadiums, with Monaco’s home ground seeming to crash for me every single time, making the trophy for playing at all stadiums inaccessible

My nature; however is to solve problems as well as moan about them. At the current time, PES crashes before certain games, but I am not going to stop playing the game if I can avoid it crashing. My tip is pretty simple, and whilst not ideal, seems very effective. By pressing start as soon as you select Start Match, the PES starts come up in the bottom corner of the screen. This means the game is loading, and will cancel the cut scene as soon as the game is ready. Every time I have done this, the game has gone on and played perfectly, without a glitch. Yes, it is far from perfect, and I for one look forward to the big game atmosphere the pre game cut scenes bring to the table, but it does mean that in the short term, you won’t be penalised online or suffer any punishment from your Master League crashing with Cheat Prevention enabled. If this works for you, fantastic, and let others in the community know that you’re having joy, or in some cases failings with it. I believe it doesn’t matter if you have n option file installed or not, and that you lucky 360 gamers don’t have the problem. Any news let me know on the issue.

“It Hurts To Be This Good”

For those of you who don’t know, I am very partial to a bit of Fix mode with my mates on PES. This means we all control a single player on a team, and battle through a Champions League or World Cup sticking with that player, and allowing the AI to control the relevant other players. For people who play this game mode, the positives speak for themselves and on a slight deviance, how annoying is it that before each game, you have to once again reassign every player to their AI team member, a feature that used to be stored automatically on PES 2009. I now sympathise with those people complaining about not being able to play as opposition in Master League or League matches. Whilst this weighs no significance to me personally, it is the removal of good features that are some of the most annoying things Konami do.

Anyway, I digress. Following a disastrous with Liverpool in the Champions League (Fiorentina, a personal bogey team for us, knocked us out in the first knock out round), and a gutting loss in the semis as Portugal on Christmas Day, we approached the Champions League with Manchester City, both with a lack of confidence and missing one of our usual 7 players. Please bear in mind that we never managed to win the Champions League on PES 2009 in fix mode, losing once in the final on Penalties and 3-2 in another final, both to Inter Milan.

After a 3-1 hammering at the hands of Juventus in the first group game, some of us were making plans as to what we would be doing after the game, it being 11pm and knockout would have meant some of us could still hit the nightclubs. However, since that point we never looked back, and went on an unstoppable run. Usually a defensive midfielder on the game, I took charge of Adebayor, and managed to bag a very impressive 13 goals, although most were simply being in the right place following a free flowing move. We made it through to the semi finals following a brace by myself against Barcelona at the Nou Camp, with Chelsea standing between us and another final. We did play well, but to win the first leg away 6-0 really killed the tie off as an affair, and the second leg’s 2-0 defeat didn’t matter. It led to a final against Inter Milan, and arguably the biggest game of the year. We had maybe managed 12 evenings of this nature throughout 2009, and this would have been the final one of them. Inter had defeated us twice in finals before, a feeling that hurts when you realise it has take 4 and a half hours to get there and to lose thanks to a penalty kick.

We won the final 6-1, I managed to bag a hat trick, and we lifted the Champions League trophy. Yet it felt empty, we felt like in spite of playing well, we were given victory. I have never once complained about PES being too easy before, and believe it is the challenge you make it, but there is no denying that the difficulty level needs to be upped again for future years. I hate losing matches on PES, but I hate winning them without trying either, and the term anti climax was the best one to describe that Champions League. If you play the game mode, you may know how we felt, but a 1-0 victory in a cagey affair would have been much more realistic, and I dare say more satisfying too!

That’s your lot for this week. interferingwithplay@hotmail.co.uk is the e-mail address on which you can reach me. I hope that this year provides as many talking points, debates, arguments and laughs as the past year of PESGaming has done. There will be more news about more features coming up over the next couple of weeks, and feel free to leave a comment about anything you have read here, or anything you have the desire to discuss.

Thanks for Reading

    First person this year!!!

  2. AKU Says:

PES should include the option of playing on LAN.

or am I missing something :-?

  3. fizzlerz Says:

    3rd one this year!!
    Better than last I guess.
Welcome to a new decade ya’ll!

  4. Steve67 Says:

Totally agree that Konami have got to nail it this year, although we felt the same with 2010 and they didnt, they really need to this time as FIFA is very soon going to fix its own problems and make a great game leaving PES too far behind.
Still, i feel Konami have improved last years game with the patch as i can now play it, where as i couldnt play more than one game before patch. IMO i feel if Konami use the PS2 version and build this years game from this with the inclusion of a proper 360 movement, then i feel most PES fans will be happy. They should get the gameplay right before adding anything else, even if there are no changes off the field, just get the gameplay right and this will be a big step forward IMO.

  5. Chiesa Says:

The game difficulty definitely needs to be taken up a notch or 2. Numerous examples, but I won a world cup last night that I set up, I beat Spain 6-0 in the final, on top player difficulty. It felt a little hollow. I’m good, but I shouldn’t be good enough to consistently destroy top teams on top player level! If the developers simply give us back the option of another player playing as the CPU opposition team! I’ve gone on at length about that before. But another thing that’s frustrating about that option not being available is that the CPU controlled teams are simply not challenging enough, except when they’re hacking you out of it in the box and getting away with it. I’m waiting on my copy of Winning Eleven to arrive in the post. I’ll see how the Superstar difficulty is on that. I’ve heard it’s harder than Top Player on PES. I hope so

  6. cartoon Says:

Totally agreed . Top player is too easy

  7. Steve67 Says:

    @ 5 Chiesa

Maybe your just one of a few that are too good for the AI. I would say most people find top player still very challenging. have you tried playing game with weaker teams? I think even if Konami made a tougher level good players would still probably find a way of beating the AI easily after a while. Like i said the answer is to find a weak team to play with.

  8. PapiLLon Says:

a new decade without pes :)

  9. ABDULKAREEM Says:

My name is abdulkareem. I LIVE IN 5 KANO.

  10. Blade1889 Says:

Two improvements that MUST be included in PES 2011:

    1. Fix the penalty problem!! You can hack a player from behind in the box and 9 times out of 10 the ref plays on?!?

    2. Make the AI more attacking in the final 3rd. They keep the ball really well in midfield but seem reluctant to take a shot at goal when they get near the oppositions penalty area, often choosing to play the ball back or out to the wing when they’re one on one with the last defender?!

These are the two main things that annoy me about PES 2010.

  11. freak08 Says:

hmmmm, i’m getting all the points in my magazine.
    keep rolling.

  12. Gazelle Says:

I want the option to have full control of all passes, including power and direction. Even the manual pass only passes in 8 directions. Football is a free game with lots of possibilities and this would make PES more realistic and fun. Isn’t this Konami’s aim, to make a realistic sim that is fun to play?

  13. Dave O Says:

In my opinion Top Player is too easy. I’ve been playing PES for a long long time, and this is probably the easiest on Top Player in recent memory, if not the easiest ever. The new patch is great, but I’m dissappointed in the end because they failed to up the difficulty at the same time. In the past there have been different ways to exploit the AI, such as the dribbling in 09, and the cut backs in older versions, but until now I can’t think of a single PES I played in the past where “too easy” was something I could use to describe it.

As a result of this difficulty issue I will have to be playing more online and against friends, but it’s sad that I can’t enjoy ML as much as I would if the game offered more of a challenge.

Dan – Time for you and your mates to play some 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 tourneys… Also, as for the PS3 glitch where the game crashes, I thought I read that it is affected by whether or not you use custom soundtracks. If you turn these off, apparently the problem goes away(?). That would also explain why it doesn’t happen on the 360, because we don’t have custom tracks.

PS – Dan, I’d still love to here some official comments from PESGAMING about the patch. Are you seeing the gameplay/animation/referee differences or no?

  14. cheech & chong Says:

    fix the online

  15. Dorothy Says:

Shut up ya lil bitch cheech, online, online, online, change the record son.

  16. JAZZMAN Says:

go to edit teams and change GAMEPLAN,i think someone forgot to do it. change ‘line up’ to 2or 3 and ‘attack minded to at least 3.

  17. JAZZMAN Says:

also play on professional, the COM attacks more, unbelievably!

  18. rTRd 77 Says:

    hey.
i wanna apologize to all you pesfans…PES 2010 is the BEST and you know when i got this revelation. After enjoying FIFA for a month and then i got back to PES.

OH GOD…the feeling of shame i felt for letting a month go by playing a low iq game.

PES 2011 needs to implement full 360 degree movement and more animations for everything: signature styles and different running animations, collisions, tackles and headers.

This game is so good, it’s a shame there is not enough variation is animations…it plays great if you have a week to play it…

oh and another thing…KONAMI, JUST LISTEN TO FIFA…IT’S EXACTLY HOW A FOOTBALL GAME SOUNDS…IT’S NOT A MATTER OF OPINION…THIS IS HOW BEING IN THE STADIUM OR TV SOUNDS…

  19. Suv Says:

This is regarding the game crashing during the intro scene in the tunnel on PS3.

I have experienced this a fair few times myself now, but i believe ive narrowed it down to an almost definite reason due to circumstances, as i know its only happened to me in only one exact situation over and over again until i figured it out. Basically every time its happened to me, and i mean every single time, ive had my PS3 still signed in online from the previous game ive been playing when ive put PES2010 on to specifically play an offline match type, either a master league or legends match. This is when its crashed on me without fail, but ive literally never had it crash while the PS3 itself is signed out and there’s no internet lead connected.

So in short, from my own experience i believe it has something to do with playing offline match types while having the PS3 itself signed in and effectively online.

If you often experience this crash glitch just think about whether what ive written above applies to you too. If it does, just try removing the internet connection while playing offline and see how many times it crashes then. My guess would be none as its had a 100% success rate with me so far. Hopefully they patch this glitch anyway but i hope this method helps some people out in the meantime :)

  20. AKU Says:

The new patch has really raised the bar for me as far as gameplay is concerned.
CPU attacks more ref gives more decision.

Playing with lower teams like hull city is now a challenge. Phew!!!

  21. canarianfrank Says:

The patch has made the game more realistic. The gulf between a great team and a poor team is immense now. I used to be able to put up a good game with Tenerife against Barca players online and win a few, but I haven’t won one match since the update, but have drawn a few. Far more realistic as Tenerife would rarely if ever beat the likes of Barca in La Liga.

  22. Suck My Full Stadiums Says:

    Fix:

    Stadiums:

    - Attendance: They’re always full in PES 2010
    - Nets: One of the biggest part of a stadium’s personality
    - Camera: This would be nice. Each stadium has the tv camera at a certain distance and height, it would be top to have a different camera for every stadium, or at least for every other league.

    Gameplay:

    - Animations
    - Set Pieces: Different commands for kicking the ball the way you want to. Inner foot, outer foot, shoe laces etc.

  23. christos21 Says:

@18 you are so right.KONAMI JUST FIX THESE TOGETHER WITH ONLINE
“”"”"PES 2011 needs to implement full 360 degree movement and more animations for everything: signature styles and different running animations, collisions, tackles and headers.

  24. vince k Says:

    wish short list:
-fix my vertical cam. i cant play pes2010. put it back how it was.
-fix the region restriction. i want to play against buddies in england.
-incorporate more dlc. and yes, it should be free. what doesn’t fit on the disk due to whatever your excuses are, make it available as dlc. not a difficult concept.

there simply is no excuse for this game not being an amazing piece of art. does mr. suzuki have to go? yes, i believe it is time for seabass to move on. almost 4 consecutive years of serious letdowns is a very generous record for a japanese company. he should consider himself lucky, but he simply hasn’t produced. you listen to me, i’ll tell you exactly how to fix this game. who’s with me?

  25. Eclipse Dj Says:

“And I will try to Fix you…”

I already filled out the official Konami questionnaire and added many of my improvement ideas in the comment section. Looks like they may be listening though as some of the questions were how important a priority do you rate things such as licences, division two leagues, online Master League etc..

“Don’t speak, I know just what you’re saying, So please stop explaining, don’t tell me coz it hurts…”

Hopefully everyone rated commentary as poor because this is one area that makes PES feel dated (along with sound effects and the main animations)

“You better think (Think), think about what you’re trying to do to me. Yeah think (Think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free. Lets go back, lets go back, lets go way on back when…”

The AI this year is broken majorly, even since the new patch and playing on professional or even top player I will go up against top sides that never achieve a single shot on target during 90+ minutes! Decent advantage is rarely ever played and off the ball fouls are never called back or punished (even PES 5 had this right)

  26. Dave O Says:

My first suggestion for PES 2011 is that on volleys you should be able to double tap shoot resulting in a volley which goes off the turf and in (as in the Fulham-Stoke game yesterday). Also on headers double-tapping shoot should result in a header into the ground which will bounce before going up and towards goal. This is a common technique used in the real game which never appears in PES.

  27. freak08 Says:

    @26 I’ve got your point, needs implementation n 2011 !!

  28. freak08 Says:

@26 I’ve got your point, needs implementation in 2011 !!

  29. AKU Says:

Got ut point @26 needs implementation in 2011

Also the new patch has tweaked up the pace of the game. A bit slow please

  30. The Kaiser Says:

    @29

Sorry to break this to ya, but the increased pace is what “fixed” the button response time issue…

  31. FOOTIE MAD Says:

Well I’m afraid the online is still a major issue, and lets the game down completely,it is imperative that this is ” near perfect “,and I mean ,no more yellow/green connection, then suddenly turn red when connected.Whoever is in charge of the online facility needs to be sacked ,or at least get some sort of technical help, because to date,in 2009 its is the worst online experience ever in any game.Animations need to be lifelike , no more tackle resistant players ,a la kaka robhino, ronaldo ,messi, the list goes on.Every player, regardless of who he is will, and can be tackled, but not on here ,it spoils the game ,when you have tackled the named players ,they still come back at you and retrieve the ball, its ridiculous. Also ,on their day every team is beatable, regardless of who they are,but the A I deliberately gives the advantage to the bigger teams, making them almost unbeatable. That is why you get the fanboys, and the ones who cannot play the game, constantly pick the same teams time and time again. I am fed up of playing Brazil, Argentina,R Madrid, Barca. And the problem with the online set up is you have no choice to withdraw from the match prior to the start, because of the way it is set up.People change their teams to the bigger clubs at the last minute and you are stuffed .Remove the ” default ” regular, play online,as it is clearly not good enough a set up,as defenders are lazy to defend, gaps still appear, and the gifted players just waltz through. The attacking options are limited,as player support does not work, you end up passing backwards ,because the support is not there, but I have noticed that the bigger clubs seem to be programmed ciorrectly ,as they get all the front and back support that is required. So it goesto show that complete programming of the system /A I is not implemented to all clubs.Konami have fallen way behind Fifa in terms of getting the gameplay right, and although PES is still the more enjoyable game ,it has a very long way to go ,as the gap seems to be getting wider.Boots ,nets ,cameras are secondatry compared to actual gameplay,so concentrate on the core of tghe game and the rest will hopefully come correct .

  32. soxnsandels Says:

    Dave O

Not sure I used double tap, but, have certainly scored the types of goal you mention.

  33. Dave O Says:

@32 – I think you’re right there. I seem to remember one or two happening, but not on purpose. Maybe there is some control for it in the game I’m just not aware of? Maybe it’s already in the game? I’ll have to try and see.

  34. Jimmy Says:

Pes need to up-date their cut scenes. The celebrations for winning trohpies are way too out dated and you don’t feel that much atmosphere or victory when you win anymore. Also they should have different types of opening scenes when players are entering…and bring back the option of turning it on or off.

  35. AKU Says:

    @ The Kaiser
button lag and gameplay speed are two different things

lag slows response to hit the ball

gameplay slows the overall pace this includes player running ball flying etc etc

    Peace!!

  36. AKU Says:

i love the song Raby from KasierChief :P

  37. The Kaiser Says:

    @ AKU

Understood but the all Konami did was speed up the game.

  38. christos21 Says:

Seabass….i hope this time you will do all that we ask for!!!

    http://www.pesfan.com/news/8737989/Seabass-thanks-Fans-for-feedback%21/

  39. kesarianis Says:

Well I must admitt that the game (PC version) has gotten better after the dlc download.
Shockingly the refereeing it seems quite resonable….
and I have been awarded 3 PKs in my last 30 games…Not bad, pretty realistic I must say.
The gameplay is terrific. It actually requires team management (formation depending on your players) The CL and Europa League Modes are wonderful.
I think liscensing should be the major issue that Konami should focus on.

    Great work Konami…

  40. Sick Says:

I used to check this site and other PES sites hourly. Couldnt sleep weeks before the new release dates, followed PES from ISS on the 64. Now its all over. 2010 is muck, not even worth playing, I played PES5 last week and it was superb. FIFA isnt much better, but its better. Thank God for MW2 and Tiger Woods. I hope one of the so called “Big Two” produce a football title worth staying up all night again for next year…

  41. Steve67 Says:

    @ 40 Sick

I know how you feel mate but after the patch download the game has gotten much better dont you think? Theres still issues with no penalties and minor stuff but after not being able to play more than one game before patch i now feel it is very much like PES 6 on PS2 which i thought was the best PES to date.
Does anyone else agree that the patch has made a hell of a difference??
If Konami improve the 360 movement and keep to this gameplay then we will get a great game next time around.

  42. Sick Says:

Yes it got better, but honestly try PES5 or 6, they are better games. I remember playing them and not wanting a match to end, having to drag myself to work. Now I could care less. FIFA is better but still a pain in the arse and no matter how much you like it, it is still not PES and doesnt have the Master League. This is the first year I have been so disheartened with the whole lot. Tiger has taken over now as our game of choice for games nights with the lads. Its not right!

  43. Dave O Says:

I agree with both of the above. I find PES 2010 post patch is an awesome improvement, however unfortunately due to the lack of difficulty I’m now playing Tiger primarily.

Difficulty level is the biggest thing they need to improve IMO (playing top player with mid-skilled teams by the way and not scoring any sort of cheap goals or anything).

  44. arnookibeast Says:

how can you play a tiger woods endorsed product, the man is a hound and a rotter who cheated on his wife, what a bounder he is, and he’s not that good at golf either, i beat him on my local pitch and putt by 9 strokes, aaaarrrggghh, anyway, newly patched pes is a joy, needs slowing down though but still great to play, as for the increased difficulty, maybe im in a minority or just not as good as you but i find professional level gives me a good game, if we all get what we want in pes 2011 we could have something mighty special on our hands, we can but pray.

  45. FOOTIE MAD Says:

Personally I think Seabass is taking the pi$$,as he is thanking us for our feed back ,and valued information.Have we not been here befotre, every year hepromises us something great, and delivers us garbage, thenhas the audacity to hope we had a nice christmas.Well actually no,you still have put out a shocking game ,and despite a patch, online is still awful, connections are hit and miss, and gameplay is dated with auto tackling and poor AI still apparent.Dont insult me with yiou wish of a good xmas ,dont try and powder over the cracks with promises of youn listening and trying to make PES2011 agoodgame. Was that not promised with this one ,or are you taking us all for mugs

  46. Cybertooth Says:

I’ve been very disappointed by this years PES, my brother has always preferred PES to Fifa but this year even he thinks it’s a sham. They seriously need to improve it this year, and they can start by sacking seabass or the development team, because the games they are putting out are unacceptable.

  47. fallensoldier Says:

    @ Cybertooth

How would sacking seabass and the developing team help pes move forward then Konami would have to hire new personel who are inexperienced in making pes. That would be great wouldn’t it.

  48. Cybertooth Says:

    @fallen soldier

Obviously the entire development team could not be replaced that would be infeasible, but they cannot keep churning out the same games with the same glitches year after year. The physics in this years PES are just atrocious, they really need to consider a complete overhaul of the development staff. The problems are not likely to be solved with the current development staff because they have known about the games issues for years but nothing changes, they have become complacent, and dare I say it so has seabass. As someone pointed out earlier, loyal buyers of the franchise are being taken for a ride.

  49. EndOfAnEra Says:

    guys wake up.

pes 2010 is just an average game. great graphics and master league and thats it.

fifa is a good game. great animations, virtual pro and freshness feel.

i brought fifa 10 on xbox 360. i thought it was similar to 09 but it was still good. i brought PES2010 also, i thought it was good at first, then rubbish then i concluded that it was average.

i sold my 360 to get a ps3 and faced a tough desicion. whether to get PES2010 on ps3 or FIFA 10.

i chose fifa because PES 2010 animations completly ruin the game and are unrealistic and a disgrace to football. its a OK game, great graphics, but when you see Wayne Rooney running like a robot it loses the feel.

Fifa 10 manager mode is rubbish yes, master league is better. yet nothing can deny the fact the keepers in pes 2010 the worst thing ive ever seen in a game in my life. they just spill the beans. the rebound goes straight to the opposition and they score.

pes 2010 is also very clumpy and clumsy. fifa 10 is more smooth.

sorry guys, u gotta wake up.

konami must copy EA in next pes , make animation at fifa level , and make online at fifa level , fix the superman like ronaldo messi & co. in reality they don’t make this difference in real match .
sort out easy cutting back goal , don’t lose time add new thing.
    fix goalkepper
    fix referee
    FIX ONLINE

    hello people,
    i must say i LOVE FIFA 10.
And i also love PES 2010.
But FIFA10 is so realistic if you put some time into it…
I had to rearrange and experiment with the MENTALITY slider and found that putting BOTH TEAMS into an ULTRA DEFENSIVE mentality, makes this game GREAT.

And that’s the magic of PES.It plays great out of the box.
I watched many gameplay videos before purchasing fifa10(32.49 from play.com) and i can say these guys suck donkey balls.
For whatever reason easports made the teams play very attacking football which destroys the GREAT gameplay mechanics.
So putting the game to slow, world class and setting the mentality to ultra defensive makes this game ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT…

I just wanted to share my joy with my fellow gamers.
    And you know something else?
PES is great two after this.I never get bored as i now have two great ballgames.

  52. AKU Says:

@ alberto those guys are superman :P

shame u dont seem to to get spanish league on ur TV set.

For me PES lacks just in the animations department. In rest its mile ahead of FIFA atleast on th PC versions of the game.

I never had a bad connection or any other thing the guys regularly complain about.

And all those who are still endorsing FIFA on a PES FAN site, please go and check ur communities blog comments first.

Peoples feeling towards PES10 vary from positive to negative, with that I hold no issue, each to their own etc… For me, what is unforgiveable is that it seems that for many, myself included that the game constantly crashes. This is 100% inexcusable, as is the fact that Konami have not come out and acknowledged the error or made any attempt to replace copies which crash in exchange for ones that work…

You can shove your Konami feed back or “we are working with the fans to deliver what the fans want” claptrap as the cold hard truth, as has been made evident by the glaring error in the latest game is that Konami couldnt give a F*ck about you or I, the so-called fans that they claim to cherish so much…

One in every 2 or 3 games I play crashes and I am guessing it is only a matter of time before this starts to affect the machine itself…

Konami: P*ss f*cking poor PR and product from you guys… I am a fan that has been around from the beginning as many are on here and we deserve better… Problem is you dont care!!!

    I am very, very disspointed!

konami need to go back to the ISS series on the n64 and re-invent this long lost opus series for pes2011.If the last fourteen weeks has demonstrated one thing to me its that fifa10 is now the game that emulates this classic series but also gives it the neccessary tweaks so it feels like a evolved version of ISS with the ball as a free entity.

Fifa10 is nothing new the freedom and control plus animation is something konami where doing themselves back between 1996-2001 on the n64 and ps1-ps2 with ISS in the west and perfect striker in japan.Would it really be that hard for konami to have a look at there back catalogue of football games for inspiration and direction when they created a game that offered animation and player control that was near indentical to fifa10 before pes in there footie games.

Pes has had its day the stat system and on rails nature of the gameplay has become tired and the same limitations and flaws make pes now feel like a relic of the last century a throwback to more simplified way of simulating football that while querky 10 years ago now just seems plain basic.

10 years i have put up with pes querks and flaws as there was never a viable alternative to iss/perfect striker so it was a case of playing the next best thing.Thats changed now though with fifa10 which is acres ahead of pes in all areas and pes fans blindly kidding themselves that pes still has something to offer are in denail.

Can konami turn it around, are we all to believe another year of empty promises with the now yearly dissapointment of just a tweaked version of the same ps2 game but with better visuals.

  56. soxnsandels Says:

Problem is, PES has Master League while FIFA has Manager Mode. A Manager Mode that works doesn’t get near the Master League and I understand that FIFA10’s Manager Mode is completely broken. Doesn’t matter how well it plays, FIFA10’s Manager Mode is broken and EA have basically said they are not going to fix it.

Hey at least Konami have, with recent patches, tried to resolve some of game players issues. Does not forgive the fact that they shipped a dodgy product, but, I keep hearing how wonderful FIFA10 is, yet, I rarely see any mention of, what is, a major game mode floor.

  57. Dave O Says:

Hey Sox, I think you mean “flaw” not floor.

Anyway, to add to that, there are numerous gameplay issues which EA haven’t fixed, such as the all-too-easy chip goals. I haven’t played Fifa much since it first came out, but from what I have heard EA’s attempts to improve the gameplay via the patch have actually left some people feeling the gameplay was better before the patch than after, and on top of that they haven’t fixed most of the issues, nor the manager mode like you mentioned.

The truth that I don’t think a lot of Fifa fans realize is that, at least in the past, EA have been an absolutely terriible company when it comes to fan support. Yes, right now they are listening, but they are 100% driven by market share and moolah. If they ever get a stranglehold on the market and squeeze out Konami then you will see a stagnant polished turd every year from them as long as they can get away with it. It’s what they have done in all the other sports gaming markets from what I have seen. Money, money, money, money.

PS – Dope, I’m actually quite impressed to hear that you are still enjoying Fifa. I was sure you would lose your lust for it after a month or two like most ppl. Maybe I will have to give it another chance soon myself.
