Official XBox Magazine PES 2008 review - 8/10

The Official XBox 360 magazine has given Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 a respectable 8 out of 10.
It’s all about the ‘feel’ for football with PES, and this newest version hasn’t lost its touch. It still plays a beautiful game.

One question for the ps3 version:
When setting up a league, eg Serie A, I choose one team and my mate choose another. Will I be able to take control of the CPU team when my mate is playing with “his” team??? Understand me - He´s playing with Napoli and next match up for him is Inter - Can I take control of Inter though they are a CPU team? I dont mean take control as in setting the tacics before kick-off - I mean if I can play as the CPU team???
You can only judge PES 2008 by playing the game 2mrw, trust me, i bought Fifa 08 when it came out, thought it was shit and returned it,,

i picked up my copy yesterday from a small independent games shop…the slowdown is appauling…how can they release a game that isn’t even finished. in game is an improvement but all the cut-scenes and intro scenes are more choppy than my old bbc computer!
Have many people ordered the PS2 version or will i be on my own? :-(
If the servers are indeed laggy then the Play.com £50k champion will not be the true champion as the best players will not get through due to lag, am i right on this?
a market stall in dudley have been selling PES2008 on xbox 360 and ps3 since this thursday for £40..i havnt seen this many customers line up for a game since GTA SA..

Hi guys, Asda are selling at midnight guarenteed, went in and asked! First come first served though! Enjoy! Im realy hoping that It’s not going to be a dissapointment. I previously bought a 360 just to get pro on next gen system, very disapointed last year, so sold me 360 and bought a PS3! Just gotta hope its worth the new system!!

You just killed my favorite game series of all time.
well im a pes fan since pes3 and for me the best pes ever was pes5. this was the most inteligent game konami has made in the series. pes5 was the most close to a real football game ever and also the more funny and challeging to play. i played the pes series in all platforms> pc, ps2, xbox, xbox360, ps3. and the best ones to play was pes5 in pc and pes6 in xbox360 (specially online). i cant understand how some say that pes6 in xbox360 was bad. it was amazing graphically and also online. pes6 on xboxlive worked wonderfully. i guess there was some problems in the begining but they were solved out and i played hundreds on xboxlive with no lag at all!! and im not joking, it was amazing really good play.
now, pes2008 is a strange game.
i always remember that when a new pes comes out, is hard to get used to score goals easily. in pes2008 its very easy. the hard thing is not to score them. pes2008 is much much much more arcade gaming. for me is a step back for the pes series. altough it can be funny and you feel you are really playing pes, its a strange game, very very different from pes5 and pes6.
i ve played some games online pes2008 on xbox360 and its hard to find compatible opponents and also there is lag in some games. on pes6 i never got any lag.
about the slowdowns in the game its very disapointing but on ps3 they are worst i guess.
konami please solve all this problems out or bring back pes5 :)
for the moment i ll stick to the genius online gaming (and offline too) of the amazing Halo3 :)
