PES 2008 suffers ‘lag’ online

Lag… the thing all online gamers dread. It seems once again Konami has failed to create a game which can be played online in a lag free environment. Even with the best connections it PES 2008 stutters huge amounts during online play. This is in addition to the ridiculous amounts of slowdown during both online and offline gaming.
Konami responded to the reports of lag, made by gamers lucky enough to get their game earlier than the release date of tomorrow, with this statment…
Konami Digital Entertainment has uncovered issues which can affect the online gameplay quality of PES 2008 on PLAYSTATION 3. We are working at full strength to find a solution as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience. Further announcements will be made as soon as we have additional details.
You can leave Konami your views about the lag and give them information on which stadiums have the most lag by completing this form at their official website.
Meanwhile, posing as a customer, gaming website Pro-G contacted Konami and received this information over the telephone:
We were told that a patch was being worked on that would not only attempt to improve offline play but also online play. However, Konami does not have a timeframe on when that patch will be released.
Became time such news is being posted. Fucking annoying I cant play a decent game on live.

Who the hell in gods name tests games these days i mean its my dream job i would love to do it. Dont these people turn round and say hold on a min here your game has these errors then they get them fixed before release. Just cant see why every big release seems to have bugs,errors or lag its meant to be next gen i dont remember my SNES having buggy games.
Konami have got to pull their fucking fingers out of their arse’s and sort this out.
How long do they need to get this right……..maybe PES 2009 could be the finished article !!!

I was playing for the first 2 days on a regular TV and thought the game was fairly good I then bought a 37″ HDTV - what a difference; it’s like a completely different game. Buy a HDTV befor playing PES 2008 …better still, play in on regular TV, like I did and then HDTV and witnes the difference.

Aye i think i definetely need to get an hdtv now, its pretty fkin hard to see the ball with the wide camera view. I dont agree with there being a lack of testing though. Sometimes its hard to test for different networks, motorstorms servers had problems with some company that BT bought over, and it was to do with packet shaping their routers were using.

360 has the same online lag issues.
Does anyone know why replays from near misses is super fast on my PS3 version. also I had a penalty shootout offline and it was super slow.

Its a nightmare online! Offline its pretty good, but I have a few concerns:
- Lagging starts allready at the intro scene. Its not too bad, but its still frustrating.
- Replays look awful. Slow motion has been replaced by fast motion.
- Graphics should be better on next gen machines. I hate fifa, but I have to admit the graphics knocks down Pro :-(
- Konami really should stop relying on our editing skills. Arsenal or “north london” kits are a joke. Its not even close like they are with chelsea and man utd. This is bad because it rules out playing Arsenal online… Also bald Senderos and Diaby are now hairy, not a big concern but it just shows the lazynes off Konami..
Still the gameplay is great, and yes I still love PES!!

POOR and ABSOLUTE are the words i would use to describe KONAMI’s attempts at the more recent versions of PES!!!
They fix one issue…and along comes 6 other new problems…
Problems that were fixed in previous versions are now back again a year or two later…
DEVOLUTION SOCCER its should be called unitl KONAMI can employ people that either:
A: care enough about the game to produce a complete game…
or
B: can actualy do their jobs…
It can’t be the games developers ability thats in question - you would think KONAMI would hire the best at their company!

5% -Testing Time…………..(well…we not changed much so we don’t need to test all aspects of the game)
4% - make a semi-demo……(we’ll just make a half hearted demo for PC/360 and double the speed of it…PS3, too hard!!!)
20% - design covers……….(We cani get licenced teams, BUT we can get EPL players on the front cover!)
50% - press………………….(get sea bass to talk the game up something cronic!)
10% - Clever admition to failure…(talk about how next YEARS game will be better)
1% - produce a patch for the game months after offcial release
I was playing a player match on the 360 last night and i thought it was pretty good, much better than it was last year on 360.
I also wanna say u lot are being so hard on konami saying there lazy etc, we must keep in mind that EA is a multi billion dollar company with 100’s of programmers working on fifa, the team who makes pro has been the same team making it since ps1 when production costs were much lower.
i do agree with some of the things being said but i’ve been a fan of pro since the ps1 and it ALWAYS gets better every year, so im not complaining.

Managed to played one game on Xbox Live last night, virtually unplayable at points - skittish players, ball disappearing in flight, appearing randomly elsewhere. Not very impressive.
Having said that, the offline play was flawless, I really liked the gameplay changes and think it’ll be an ace game in time - if they get that patch sorted asap.

FUCKIN SHIT FUCKIN CRAP BASTARD KONAMI - I like everyone else have been a Pro Evo fan from day 1 and have never even touched FIFA but I have to say that I am disgusted with this game . . . . bought it. . . . . got home . . . .loaded it . . . . .went onlne . . . . . . nearly smashed the fucking TV in half. You cannot in anway shape or form play a decent game online. I saw RonaldO disapear for a split second then reappear behind my player like he was in the fuckin matrix. The ball also obviouslY travels at the speed of sound because Henry twitched his leg and looked like he was having a fucking seizure then the ball was in the back of the net.

To be honest having read all the above comments I would have to agree with some, and disagree with others.
My opinion is that it’s absolutely awfull that they haven’t sent out a “completed” game. It’s like if you bought a new house, moved in, and it didnt have any stairs yet, or the walls had massive holes in. You would complain and get a shit load of money off.
Despite saying that, the game is definitely a “grower”. The more games I play the more I’m begining to love it, and when you think about it the problems are reasonably small against the whole picture.
All in all, the game I have bought is not worth £50.

if you play it at camera long, you will find there is no framerate problems, only for the replays, well at least you can play it at a definate pace throughout the whole match, however creating a game and releasing it unfinished is a disgrace and konami should be ashamed
I was genuingly excited when i bought PES 2008 for the PS3. I even bought the fucking £10 manual because i honestly thought it would become the best thing in my life.
BUT let me say this, I AM ABSOLOUTLY FURIOUS by the fact that Konami have managed to release such an iconic sports game without checking for obvious bugs.
We deserve a solution and an explanation, because its obvious to me once there is a solution this game, it will be fantastic because I do have moments of magic (when there isnt a lag). . I just hope we can all remain patient enough untill/if the solution appears. If i was working for Konami, I would be working night and day to deliever some answers, or they possibly could of killed of their cash cow with one almighty failure.
p.s and yes, i did go out and buy Fifa 08 in a moment of rage, and yes Fifa is still shit!
being a city fan i was slightly worried when elano ran through the stadium and dissappeared whilst celebrateing!! this game is a absolute fucking joke!! its such a shame because the shooting and keepers look unreal.
the problem im finding on offline play is that the screen is all jittery when the ball gets pumped forward? is anyone else experiancing this??? and does anyone else think that the new master league layout is awful!! im not happy with this game!
Bought a PS3 2 weeks ago mainly for the PES8 release, but having bought it am disappointed to say the least. Got a 37″ HD and this really shows the flaws in great detail. Lags like you wouldnt believe when you get in penalty areas and this is only on exhibition mode. I dread to think what it must be like online. This game is total gash and I am a 100% PES fan. You might as well go and play sensible soccer on the snes. If everyone took their games back within 14 days you know for a fact Konami would get a patch out. Wankers.

A lot of next gen games have come out that require later patches. Partly due to programmers still learning how to program for the PS3 and partly as they know that they can update it later.
PES08 does not lag at all offline in wide or long camera modes. The AI is a vast improvement on PES6.
Play a master league and wait for them to fix the online mode.
A bit of patience. I’d rather they released it on time and patched it later, than delay it. At least I get to play part of it now.
ps3 slowdowns a way out - wide mode there are slowdowns especially around the box, so found myself playing the long angle yes it is a bit closer, but it is exactly like pes 6 on wide.
so now i have played on the long angle i get no slow downs, i also turned the pitch pattern back on to see if would cause a problem and no it didnt.
All my friends have done the same and responded very positively as the game play also seems faster.

my mate has bought PES 2008 and says it runs perfectly online and offline. His PS3 was bought from Hong Kong though. Does this mean that the problem lies in the crappy EU PS3 or is it genuinely a game fault?

i remember i play online when score 2-2 in 89 minute so the keeper just clear the ball then i don,t see the ball after that 1 second its goal by my enemy so i lose 3-2 because the goalkeeper shoot 200m,i think pes 2008 have a new skills and matrix skills.so i desperste about this game and from now if i buy konami game i must carefully.
