Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is now available

For those of you who have not ordered online, PES 2008 is now available for sale! Asda are reported to be selling the game for around £37 on next-gen formats… though stocks are said to be limited. One user reported that only 10 copies of the PS3 version were available in one 24 hour store where 60 fans are said to have turned up to buy the game.
Got mine from asda at midnight….£34 for the 360 version!!!

how much was the PS3 version selling for at asda? and did it look like they were short on copies of it? which asda did u get it from? i finish work at 6am and heading straight down there to purchase…….ill probably give it about a week before my time-keeping at work becomes SO poor that im left picking up my P45!!!……..but….ILL HAVE PES2008!!!!
At my local Asda PS3 £37.71. Only had 6 copies in total on PS3 now got 0……. i bought last one. But other formats had loads of copies not sure of prices on other formats tho!

I went down to Asda and it ended up bein sold out within 10 mins so must of been limited stock so we went down to Tesco who sold it for £39.73. :D awesome game!!
Just got mine from HMV, they seemed to have plenty of copies (Edinburgh - St James’ Centre) and for only £40 (£36 with student i.d :D). Cant play it till later though as i have uni :(
am not impressed wat so ever by this game on ps3 the diving is a disgrace and its got lag an whenr these option files coming on for download i badly need it
Hi Guys, second in queue last night in Asda swindon. Had popped in earlier that day to ask, and they had a pile of games on the counter for PS3 but only about 10 it looked like. So I guess they only sold that many that night!
I think this years installment is a real grower, well I hope so, cos’ I wasnt overly enthused with my first few games.

Many people are saying they have this problem and some say they dont. Could it be that people who have an HDTV are fine?

people who think they have it bad on ps3 try playing on ps2 it is so dissapinting it worse than last years its got no real boots like addidas or reebok and there isnt any diving on the game the kits are a joke really disapointed. A good thing on the game is the shooting has improved but i would advise you to buy it on ps3 or xbox 360 i haft to give a 6/10.

play.com still hasnt delivered my copy, and i pre ordered ages ago, last time i buy something off them, mail man came and nothing GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
got mine on wednesday. from play.com, the framerate is poor in places hopefully konomi will pull their fingers out and get the patch sorted asap. apart from that the game is great.
I ordered my copy of PES 2008 months ago from play.com and it still hasnt arrived even though it has been posted. Despite what is going on with the postal situation I still would’ve expected it to be delivered on launch day atleast!
But I have played both the PS3 & PS2 versions of the game and I have to say the PS3 version is by far better. The frame rate didnt really bother me during play even though I was aware of it. I am disappointed with the limited editing mode, however the gameplay is excellent which is the only thing I care about when it comes PES really.
well i’d just like to say that play.com can piss right off in my opinion from now on, i ordered my pc version from there because it was a good price and although they didnt get the game in stock until monday it was posted on tuesday and its now friday and it hasnt arrived! what a joke!
Might sound like a noob question but is it actually possible to download a patch for the ps3 version?
Got it last night at asda for xbox 360, no problems with frame rate, graphics are great I think and all round I think it’s a great game.
You can really see the new team vision working when battling defences and passing is better

Hey Play.com are shit …trust me they never deliver on time..best online site for delivery is GAME, they even deliver a day n4 sumtyms..

Got mines last night after going to asda at midnight, there were about thirty folk there queing for it, and they only had around ten copies of the PES3 version. The framerate is annoying at first, really quite bad and feels like you’ve got some shoddy camera man with shakey hands recording the game. You do get used to it though, fucks with your eyes though. Good and bad points, I guess its just the same as every year, you just have to get used to the changes. Enjoy!!!
Its Great but the ps2 doesnt let you do club sponsors isnt there another way instead of doing it from the internet to the ps2 when you could straight away do it on the ps2 plz reply back :(
got mine last nite from xtravison, 34.99, not bad like, but as i am big fan of evo, this year am disappointed, need a good o/file 2 keep me intrested, master l is pretty good tho and the diving is fun at the start then gets borin, fun wen cpu tries 1 in the box and gets booked lol

Shopto have been great with me. I ordered PES 2008 and it arrived thursday. I then ordered DIRT from them on thursday 5pm, arrived today 9am.
You have to make sure you are at home as they require a signature on delivery.
i got mines from asda today on ps2 22.91 gr8 price been a pro evo fan since winning eleven but i feel disapointed with it, as someone said earlier konami rushed the game out lst yr they had rbk and adidas boots but this yr they have got sweet f/a plus u cant even make the vapours this yr with the default boots.. in my eyes konamishouldv waited a little while longer gameplay is gr8 so is ml but i need a patch 2 make this game what it should be.

I really like it, its a bit strange for the first hour or so because you’re used to pes 6, although it really is great when you’ve played it and got used to it.
Really REALLY disappointed with the online play. Takes ages to find someone [probably cause no-ones on it because its so crap], and when you do there is the most ridiculous amount of lag which makes it almost impossible to play. I hope they bring out a download to fix this, but i doubt it unfortunately :(
My friend is a games tester, and he says since he started 4 months ago, they kept flagging up the lag on the online play, and each time they asked for it to be re-tested, they hadn’t done anything about it.
A brilliant game but online leaves a hell of a lot to be desired.
h, theres a registration code on the back of the manual which is used to get access to the network mode although i havent actually tried it myself as can’t be bothered if the lag is that bad online. The only lag i experience during offline is when there is a replay but the actual game seems mostly fine, only a wee slowdown at parts but nothin to be bothered by IMO.

I’ve got a similiar story to those Play.com customers but with Shopto…
Shopto sent my order out Tuesday night (i.e. Wed morning) It didn’t get delivered until Friday afternoon by which time I had to go out. Went to pick it up this morning and its not there!!! They said that as it was the afternoon its most likely still at my local post office which meant realistically I wouldn’t be able to pick it up until Tuesday as it had to go via somewhere else before hand!
I’m not blaming Shopto and I don’t think you should really blame Play.com If you want to point the finger at anyone then its surely the slackards that keep striking at the post office.
My biggest issue now is whether or not I go out and purchase a 2nd copy and then return the shopto version when I get it. The problem is they said it wasn’t sealed so Game etc would have a hissy fit if I tried to return that. Any ideas? Was the Shopto version sealed in the end?
and do we know now if we can use our PS2 option files on the PS3 version??

WOW AN ANGRY PRO FAN DA GAME KUD BE INPROVED BUT I DNT THINK ITS DAT BAD….
Yes the replays are extremely weird in the sense of the jerkiness, however, I have NOT had any lag or slowdown offline during any of the matches and there have been numerous times where there have been practically all 22 players on screen.
Secondly, the commentary is great. They seem to have finally cracked it and it is much closer to that of fifa’s usuals.
Gameplay, its certainly different compared to PES6 but that is how it always feels playing a new version of PES. I’m starting to get used to it now and it actually plays a pretty good game apart from two strange things I have noticed. 1) Sometimes when you pressure the COM team and they lose the ball there seems to be a second or two where there is an invisible ‘force field’ around the ball which stops both teams getting it. 2) During a tackle the ball sometimes seems to spit out at a random angle and feels as if it glides across the screen.
I can see why people might be getting upset but hey the game has only been out two days - give it a chance!
i got PES2008 on PS2 and it seems quite like PES6…i was hoping for some sorta change…for example the master league is exactly the same when i thought it was going to be more “in-depth”…the gameplay feels a bit different i must say but im not realy sure why bcoz the animations n that are very similar to PES6 and movement with the ball etc also similar. PES2008 on the PS2 is by no means rubbish, infact its enjoyable, its just i spose i was expecting alot more…so its more of a case that im dissapointed bcoz i had VERY high expectations so im probably being biased to be fair.
so i was thinking, the lack of advances with the PS2 version is coz Konami coodnt b bothered to put extreme amounts of effort on the PS2 version as they were more worried about tryna beat Fifa08 on the next-gen consoles (coz that more important right?)…but reading some of these comments on the PS3 version im quite shocked!
does anyone know how PES2008 is on the xbox360? i was thinking bout gettin a PS3 but seeing as PES is rubbish on it im dissapointed! however ive herd many PS3 owners absolutely HEAP praise on other games on the PS3.

HMMMM, Well, what can i say….. I recieved my copy of PES2008 on Friday morning, ordered from ASDA entertainment online, i pre ordered 2 weeks back, got my PS3 2 weeks back, it was bought for PES2008, i owned the PS2 and bought the Pro Evolution series on that, even bought there International Superstar Soccer, big fan of the series.
I downloaded the trailer from the Playstation store, and it shows Ronaldo, Owen, Drogba as well as others, real smooth animation, clear graphics on the HDTV, very impressive. But im sorry to say, that i feel tricked.
The game i recieved doesnt have smooth, fluid, animations on it, even after u install the data files on the PS3, which helps alot with the general look of the game, but not no much with the animations. The animations jerk and jump, frame problems, hurts my eyes after a while. i get like a thin band that “waves” from the bootom of the screen to the top, everything it goes over the pixels or that seem to distort, maybe thats a problem with something else. The replays, like other people have said, are crap. real shoddy, wheres the fluidity?!??
All in all i think they (Konami) have been frightened by FIFA08 this year, i mean it was released like 3 weeks before, so they have seen what there competition is. I think after they saw it, they started changing the PES2008, to make it better, but i think it may have failed, well, to me, unless they put a patch out quick fast, it has failed.

hate to say it but pro evo on the ps3 is awful!
i was talking to one of my mates today and he was amazed with PES2008 on the PS3…he said is was “SOOOOO GOOOD”…e was telling me quite the opposite to what has been said on here which is confusing…e sed the graphics are really good and also it plays like a true pro evo and e sed e loves it to bits :S infact his exact words are “it has the graphics of a FIFA but the game play of PRO EVO” i must play it for myself to decide i think
its deffinitely not like a normal pro evo game, and its so slow its unbelievably crap! they’ve brought back the lil niggly fouls from number 5 and u cant slide properly and x tackle are just as bad,shootin is disgusting, goal keepin eras are worse and you see own goals nearly every game.
Pro… Konami maybe they’re just preoccupied and have sent all their best “game makers” away 2 make other games e.g. metal gear solid 4 and have forgotten about it’s other commiment nonetheless pro is pro whether it has 50,000 boots or none da gameplay is still da donkey’s bollocks
