You are going to like this. Here is Konami’s solution to the lag people are experience with the PS3 version of PES 2008.
After checking the matter we have found that the problem is primarily taking place where the user is not playing the game in high definition.
The solution to this problem is to play the game on an HD TV (high definition screen) with an HDMI or component cable and the PS3 set to output in 720p resolution or above. This should prevent the problem and allow the player to enjoy the full HD experience provided by their PlayStation 3.
So there you have it folks. All you need is a HD TV and the problem goes away! Konami saves the day once again…

Besides, when I play on certain pitches, Santiago Bernabeu for example, it runs as slow as anything (Yes, on 720p), even in single player, also it does not excuse the ridiculous framerate on the replays, it makes the best goals you score look stupid to say the least. I’ve even updated the firmware on my ps3 and it still makes zero difference (Not that it was supposed to or anything, just thought i’d inform everyone though).
This is not funny!! I want a patch or my money back. i tried, but i can’t enjoy pes this way. :-(

I have a 32″ HDTV 720p with PS3 - seems strange as i still have the problem(mainly on replays) but the game should not have been released with such tech issues. If I f**ked my job up that bad i would get fired!!!! Konami need to appreciate the fans discussed at this release, maybe take a good look at the game and make a huge step forward. Lets not forget that this is the second next Gen release

THATS A COMPLETE LIE!!!!!!!!! I have an HDTV 720i and use component cables but I still get slowdown in some stadiums and also slow down during corners. Konami is unbelievable when the hell are they going to listen.
I have a 360, runs perfectly ok on that… apart from the crappy editing, missing stadiums, terrible interface, lacklustre Master League etc.
I’m pissed off and I don’t even have the PS3 problems.

The single player mode is still really shit, when you clear a ball or long pass whatever, the frame rate drops massively, kicking around is ok, but the replays…dont get me started on the replays!!!

This is a monumental error that Konami have made this year releasing a game with so many obvious flaws you have to question what ethics they are working towards nowadays is it for the fantastic fan base the game has built up over the years or is it the nice rattling ching of money that is their motivation…HHMMMMMM!!!!!

I have to say i’m sincerly dissapointed in konami. Not everyone can afford a hd tv, especially after forking out alot of money out for the ps3 itself. The only reason i bought a ps3 was for pes. but now this has happened, i’m seriously considering selling my ps3 and purchasing an xbox 360 with xbox live cause atleast it doesnt lag on there. Or maybe sticking with my ps2 and buying pes on that. Atleast it has a good option file. Konami seriously have to make a patch quick because they are going to start loosing fans of a very much loved game. Also in my eyes, sony will also loose customers because pro is the only reason some people would of bought a ps3.
hd tv, HDMI or component cables are definetely not the problem.

I Can’t believe the PS3 eye toy has been put back a month now. What a load of crap. Stuck with PS2 eye toy images for another month on option files.
Just returned pes 2008 today and gonna wait till japan version and see whats up with that. Its pretty safe to say konami sees that there is nothing wrong with offline play on ps3 so that pretty much says the patch isn’t gonna help offline at all.
Anways who knows they might get it right by the NA release.
Absolute trash guys. I can only put this down to a sarcastic remark, because i have all the so called requirements and the lag is clearly still there. I have played one online game where there was no lag, but the rest of the 100 plus games i have played the lag is a big problem.

However with taking a few of the options off, no stadium effects, no rain, non pattern pitches and angle at long then i get hardly any slowdowns. so yeah that does work… But seriously i expect a game where you can play the fucking game with not having to do that!!!!!!

All those who claim they are running PES2008 on 1080i or 1080p are liars! It only goes up to 720p, so you should be ashamed of yourselves ;¬D … Anyway, the Lag isues are nothing to do with HDTV as they are simply output devices. Konami really need to invest in stronger servers to manage our PS3 online play resource demands.
you can install the game on to ur ps3 by going on to the settings on the pes2008 on the title menu n going to the bottom and it says install…but dnt c how tht will do ny gd as i tried there was no improvement..jus w8 4 the official patch by konami weneva tht will be we dnt knw…n also where is the option file 4 the ps3!!needs a release ASAP

I recall having similar problems with pes 06 or 05 with a pc version
playing with an nvidia graphics card.ps3 using rsx=nvidia 7900 basicly.

i have a xbox 360 elite and hdtv with a hdmi cable and it runs smooth offline but online can be pretty dissapointing, but overall pes is still on top like always, also my mate has a standard xbox 360 on a crap tv but it still runs smoothly, so i think its just the ps3 version of the games, thats lucky cause i was going to buy the playsation 3 version of the game but eventually to decided to buy the 360 version, ps. dump sony and hop over to micosoft, i have both the consoles and i prefer 360, its got better graphics, better online features, its cheaper, thats all i have to say, oh yeah fuck playsation 3, and konami you barstards why didnt you add the premier league you twats
