PS2 Master League problem?

It’s been quiet on the news front lately, so I thought I would share with you a problem a reader has been having with Master League on the PS2 version of PES 2008.
I’ve got the Ps2 version of PES2008 and was just wondering if u’ve heard of anyone having a similar problem in Master League, when i try and turn off classic players, i put the setting to ‘no’ but once i’ve started the master league up the settings always say Classic players ‘yes’ as if i haven’t turned it off. Its Been frustrating, leading me to restart my masterleague 3 times having played a number of games, and most recently having to completely remake a team (AFC Wimbledon) which i had already made, (very time consuming) so i could use a new memory card with fresh option file so i wouldn’t have any of the classic players on it. I’m just desperate to play a realistic master league without George Weah popping up for Liverpool or the like. Any clues?
Any advice for the guy? I don’t personally have the PS2 version so can’t help.

Yes, I head about this problem. I mentioned it on the forum a few weeks ago as well.
I have the impression that this problem is solved once all classic players in the PES-store are locked. I am playing my first ML season with all store items locked and this seems to have solved the problem, but if you say that you also see them with your fresh option file, I will start to worry again now.
My advice is to get a 360, PC or PS3 version instead! Ok you won’t have great editing features but at least the gameplay is different!! Failing that go back to PES6 as everyone states that there is hardly any difference between the two PS2 versions. There were no bugs like that on that version!
try get/make a file where the classic teams are actually under 21s and all the classic players have names and appearances of current real players, that way your ML would be even more realistic. there was a file i had for pes5 like that so someone may do another
this problem has happned me and unfortunately if u dont want to start a new option file then u hav to live with it. Its kinda annoying when you are Newcastle and you are playing AC Milan and they have Zico and Beckenbauer as well as their already star studded team.
I heard someone turned all the classic players into keepers so Chelsea & co would stop signing them. I guess that’s worth a try if the classics are editable.
Yeah man the exact same thing happened to me but i cant be bothered to restart. aswell as classic players poppping up, like pele playing for chelsea, players like cafu are reintroduced as youngsters which makes the whole expereience fake and almost spoils the whole thing. also im 100% sure i set it as no too so it must be a glitch.
hey everyone, i also have an issue i have found, however this concerns the ps3 version of the master league. I found that you cannot and i repeat CANNOT play with your master league team in exibition mode with the improved stats when your players develop. If there is way to play in exibition mode with the improved stats, please feel free to say. But at the moment , i cannot play with the improved stats. Dont hesitate to have a word in the matter, because as far as i am concerened pes 2008 just keeps getting worse and worse, and could end up getting labeled the worst pro evo in the series so far.
Could you do that in any of the series, use your developed players? I didn’t think you could but I am not sure.
of couse u could, in the old pro evos, you had to save in “my master league data” , it would be the red master league file, not the blue one duh
would there be any point of playing the master league, if u culdnt find new hidden young talents like shaw or shimizu?and show how good they are to ur friends, obviuosly there initial stats arent great , but there development curves are amazing.
Also a further complaint about the master league is have u lot realised that so many players earn 1 pound/point as there salary.
also i hate it when players like cafu maldini and van der sar are recycled in to promising 17 year olds its just so fake but i really wanted to kep the development aspect and thats the price you pay, am i mistaken or are konami making this feature for no reason aas is there any1 who actually likes this aspects, i would have thought it annoys the hell out of most

Man, throw PES2008 in the thrash and get J League winning eleven 2007 Club Championship. It is way better than PES. I have both games and haven’t touched PES since I got J League. People will tell you that the game is in japanese, but you can get an english patch and have it translated. Still, if there was no patch the game kicks PES out of the water. It is VERY challenging and not a goal-fest like PES. Also, there is a new mode called Fantasista where you just play as one guy and become a better player and get signed to different clubs. It’s very basic and could use more things like you getting a contract and some money and endorsements and stuff like that which footballers get, but it’s very exciting.
Has anyone else played this winning eleven game?

Yes! It works!
Though I turned every one into sweepers, since none of the teams in my master league use sweepers. I also reduced the abillities on every player, down to 1. It’ll take a few hours, but hey!
I’m not sure if it’ll work with your master league in progress, you’ll possibly have to start all over.
I have had the same problem and it is a pian in the ass. I really don’t know why the bother with the classic players at all since most people who play PES are into current football and want the game to seem as real as possible so having Zico or whoever playing against you kinda ruins this. That’s a good idea about changing the players over to keepers of sweepers but it’s pretty damn time consuming! Hopefully someone will figure something a little quicker out.
Some of the option files have the “classic” teams edited so that they’re U-21s… I suppose if you get one of those, that might help, but the other master league teams will still be signing them. Better than having classic players end up in master league, though.
I’d be interested in playing a J-League Winning Eleven game, but don’t know if the disc would play on my PS2, I think the consoles are set up so they can only play the games for their own region (I’m in the US, so I have to play WE/PES2007, not PES6, for example). It’d be cool if I could play the J-League version, though.
