PES 2008 finally arriving on PSP

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will finally be making an appearance on Sony’s PSP on February 29th. The game, which is being released some 5 months afters it’s console counterpart, will retail for around £17.99 - Buy with Play for release date delivery.

IGN have published a favourable 8.9 review, which you can read in full here.

A bona-fide PES game on the PSP, PES 2008 admittedly only takes small steps from last year’s title, but it takes all the right ones. If there is anyone yet to be converted to Seabass’s formula, this isn’t the game to do it. However, for PSP owners who already worship at the temple of PES, this could well be their mana. In improving upon PES 6 it marks itself as the definitive sports title currently available on the PSP, and for those of a certain inclination it’s therefore one of the best games there is for Sony’s handheld.

No online facilities still on the PSP version sucks! On a brighter note at least you can play with fully reproduced strips!

Anyone got a psp slim? How do they compare to the original psp? Is there any difference really? Imported an American one in 3 years ago almost and its starting to age now.

  3. Dips Says:

There was a 1.20 update for the PS3 version of PES2008 today

  4. Anonymous Says:

there was no update 4 the ps3 on pes08 ny1 else get 1??

  5. Jasperinho Says:

I hope it supports player growth in the Master League this time and that the match commentary got better. Especially the lack of player growth in the Master League was a disgrace

  6. diggler Says:

no online option on psp is a real shame. Hope the gameplay still remains top.

Will there be a opion file for the psp version?

  7. lamboz Says:

ye sure u can transfer the option file from your ps2 to the psp if u have pro evo 08 on the ps2 that is……

  8. mn9ajas Says:

Your’ll be able to drop the ps2 option file straight on to the psp I would’ve thought. If not some one will convert it no doubt. Fingers crossed!!

  9. Dan Says:

can u acually do master leage on psp becayse i only have pes 5 on psp and there wernt master leage?

  10. Jasperinho Says:

Yep, you can. PES6 already had a ML on it

  11. Medion Says:

You can also transfer ML files from the PS2 to PSP so you can continue your campaign on the go! :)

  12. Jasperinho Says:

    Yeah, read that as well.

I also read in the meantime that “player growth” is now also supported in the PSP version of the Master League, which is great. I read a (Dutch) review about the game and the overall conclusion of that review was that the game is more complete than PES2008 for the consoles. The only thing that is still lacking in the PSP version is a transfer function from the PS3 to the PSP. Only the PS2 is supported at the moment.
