PES 2008 Boxart

The cover for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 in the UK has been unveiled courtesy of MCV via WENB. For me the logo should be bigger and much clearer - but it’s certainly not a bad boxart. Also confirmed is that the game will be landing in October, but no date appears to be set just yet (we say October 26th!).

OK, I won’t have an opinion in future. That’ll make this blog a whole lot more interesting.

It looks like it would make a better poster for a fan of Owen or Ronaldo than a box art for a soccer game. There isn’t even a soccer ball on the cover.

Looks fine by me. Best ones in my opinion were Pes3 with Colina and Pes5 with Henry and Terry facing each other

Big Deal - Get Over It - The BoxArt is fine - It will end up on a shelf gathering dust the same way if it had a pair of Pert Buttocks with PES2008 tattooed on each cheek.

Yes Miles, this is my website. I have been running it since PES2, and have been playing the games since the original ISS on PSOne over 10 years ago. I think this gives me at least some ground to have an opinion, and no - of course I am not embarrassed by what I have to say otherwise I would not be saying it.
This is ridiculous backlash all because I think a logo is too small and not prominent enough? I could have gone on further to say that it looks more like a poster than a game box, and that it looks odd having a player in a club shirt next to a player in a country shirt.
god all you do is complain about pes…i cant wait for the game to come out so you can be proved wrong but maybe you will still have something bad to say about it…
Jimmi we all know what the good things are about the game. I am not going to say year in year out how great the gameplay is, because we know that already. If you take the time to read my posts carefully about this years game you will see that it is not complaints but more frustration by the lack of progression with the series over the past 7 years since arriving on PS2.

Well Peter, I like you have been playing since ISS on PS1 and my video gaming history goes way back to the Phillips VideoPac when I was a kid in 70’s. By your own admission - does this make me a Video Gaming & Marketing Guru like you aswell?
Anyone who plays video games Miles can form opinions about it. This is PESGaming, a blog run by myself. Blogs are meant to be opinionated, they would be rather dull without them. I personally feel the new game does not match my expectations (we are not talking about the boxart, I couldn’t really give 2 hoots about that) and I feel I should be able to express that without being asked ridiculous questions such as am I embarrassed by my own opinion.
I have spent too long licking Konami’s ass every year with my reviews yet every year I kinda feel let down due to missing such simple features out. All I have said over the past 2 weeks is that Konami need to wake up and realise that EA are very quickly advancing and catching Konami up in terms of the quality of their FIFA franchise.

well petey maybe you are blind because the game developed a lot in the past 7 years and remained the best soccer game around for the past 7 years..yes fifa nearly caught up last year but thats cause konami had problems with the new xbox developing the game but this year pes will be the best soccer game around and yes fifa will be good but not good enough…STOP THE NEGATIVITY…PLEASE

I personally think Fifa has been the same over the last few years aswell(I should know, I worked on the QA team for 05 and 06), same old pants gameplay, 07 was a big turd of a football game, and 08 sounds even worse, all that be a pro shite. Games where you control 1 player have never worked in the past, so that mode will struggle to make an impact.
Much better than last years’s with that gay Adriano showing his fat leg to us and a gay on the background.The best besides this was The Terry and Henry on in PES 5.

You mean advancements like adding more lame tricks that players like Beckham and Marcell Jansen (according to a video I saw) can pull off with no trouble? Or keeping the old ‘glued to feet’ ball physics?
The tricks aren’t easy to do, and what’s wrong with two world class strikers being able to do them properly? This is why I get fed up easily by biased fans making claims without knowing what they’re talking about

Boxart Looks good, but they could have put the best player in the world (steven gerrard) on the cover instead of micheal owen(even though owen is a legend).
so youve been playing it since the original iss on psone????? thats pretty funny because the iss series has been running since at least the super nintendo with international superstar soccer deluxe. and theres a player in a club shirt and a player in a national shirt because newcastle appear on the game fully liscensed and manchester united dont, what about pro 3 where Pierluigi Collina was on the cover but wasnt even selectable as a ref???
