PC Demo Gets The Thumbs Up!!

After lots of waiting and wondering if Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 would be an improvement on the last game it seems that they have done it again. Graphics have come on leaps and bounds, passing seems more slicker and the shooting has been tweaked. I think we are all in for a treat come October the 26th so remember to order now to ensure you get your copy in time.
Quick note… People seem to be having some problems with installing and running the game.
If you are running vista then right click on the exe file and run as administrator - (Bit of a Pain I Know). Also, make sure you have the DirectX 9.0C installed on your computer.

This game rocks. I remember previous demos being a let down and then the real game being amazing. hope they do sort out vista issues though instead of taking loads of steps to install it or run it.
a complete game. as a programmer myself, a software isn’t “the real shit” if it has no bugs. so don’t complain about the bugs they will not disappear, just enjoy a wonderful game.
Damm good the graphic and the play style i like it, can wait the real 1 came out……………….
i hope the real game is better than this.otherwise i have to play pes6 for the whole 2008
Hmm, how much space does it require?… i have 12,4Gb free, and when i want to install it says “there is not enough space on the disk” :/ ?!
i installed it and it dont seem to work, im running it on xp :/ it says re installing may fix the problem, i have dont it twice now and the same result. anyone know what to do?
it says i need d3dx_30.dll?? what is that :S
Steve has posted up that you need directX 9.0c mate just type that in google and download it and it will work i had that error message a first.
does the game plays fast on a computer that is from the year 2003

I have a 2002 Packard Bell IMEDIA 5094 intel pentium 4 2.53ghz which is pretty antique. In anticipation of PES2008 I updated the RAM to 1GB and put in an NVIDEA GEFORCE 6200 GRAPHICS CARD which works well with older motherboards like my columbia 2. It then gives you a DVI connection so I also invested in a new Samsung 20″ w/s monitor with a 2ms refresh rate.
Even if you just used the VGA connection on your old screen this spec will play PES2008. The graphics card and RAM cost £50. I spent just over £200 in total with the new screen and have a PC now that will play all but the very top end games.
I have played the PES2008 demo and it is a HUGE improvement on 2006. There is however MAJOR slowdown in the penalty area (as usual) in crowded situations. Hopefully this will be ironed out by release but I wont hold my breath if history is anything to go by. FIFA is indeed substandard in gameplay but runs smooth as silk on my PC. I just wish Konami would sort out the technical glichs which plague the series on the PC.
I downloaded and installed the game but I only get black screen, how do I run as administrator??
RE: “I downloaded and installed the game but I only get black screen, how do I run as administrator??”
You are getting a black screen because your graphics card cant process the data. I got the same black screen with the FIFA demo before I upgraded.
i get a black screen and a message that says [your computer dont meet the minimum specifications necessary to run this sofware. you may experience errors during the operation. the video card does not have the necessary specifications.[vertex/pixel shader 1.x]] any help
I get some “dll load error”, when trying to install. I got directX 9.0c and I still get it.
The demo is overall not great. The menu system is better, and the computer is more intelligent. Its the gameplay that lets it down. I liked the play in PES6 but this feels closer to ISS on the gamecube. The players seem to slide like theyre on ice. I hope Konami sort this out before the final release.
totally agree with Matt… i thought it was my com which wasnt good enough for the game… but after Matt said these, i can only say the final masterpiece have to be much better… on the other hand if we tink on the positive side, maybe konami was delibrately making this demo play as lousy as fifa’s, then the final release would be the real stuff that kicks fifa away…
