I’ll say though that the PES2008 screenshot looks to be only on “Medium” details. The difference between “High” and “Medium” are some subtle lighting details that still make a big difference in conveying a realistic sunshine on ball and players. Also “High” will have players shorts moving when you run, and the audience will be alot more detailed (Medium leaves them pixelated constantly).
I could be wrong, but looking at the ball in that screenshot it looks too dull lighting-wise to be from “high” details.
What is most dissapointign though is the grass. It will be 3D at certain angles, nut the draw distance for the fuzzy 3D grass layer is way too short, leaving grass farther away looking as sterile as ever, and the overall texture in that screenshow is almost worse than the PES6-screen.
Shame on you KONAMI.
do a 360 pes6 vs 360 pes2008 that would be a better way to judge
in my opinion pes2008 is the best!
I have LapTop xp, p4, 3.2ghz, 512ram, Radeon 9600 pro. I cant change it to high. I can only put it on low or medium. Am i doing something wrong here?
Even on Medium it looks nice but I would like to get on high. Is this just because its a demo or what?
@pauly: I have the same problem, i have an X800gto 256mb and should be fine running it on high, but its because the raedeons dont support shader model 3.0, which is a little sad.
SirJD
SirJD: thats horrible news! But I will say the game on medium looks really nice.
I guess theres no download to help with the shader?
It’s gotten a bit FIFA like with all the menus and animations but the good bits. However I am disappointed in the first time shot ability. Nobody seems to be able to pull one off unless it’s within the six-yard box.
It is kind of easier to tackle now as defenders can take the ball from behind, thorugh the legs of the attacker. Now pace isn’t as key as it was before.
The replays are also really stuttery and i am concerned about the lack of customization on the tactics on the demo.
i think it’s not a pro evolution soccer anymore,it’s a fifa only it;s better.the moves and the graphics are really fifa like.if its an original demo and not a xbox 360 transfer it’s dissapointing.i expected something like pro 6 in pc with better 3d’s but…i don’t think it’s worth bying playstation 3 for this
No ps3 demo was unveiled it seems, despite the release of new demos on the PS3 network, the only new thing to appear PES related is a trailer of what we have already seen.
@Pauly: Yeah, is a bit annoying seeing as if it supported 3.0 i could run it on high, but i agree, it does look nice on medium, and hopefully they release LOD Mixer for pes 2008 too.

I personally dont no what all the fuss is about. i think this has got to be the pest pes yet (after 2) everybody was moaning that pro’s gameplay was fantatsic but should take a leaf out of fifas book graphic-wise and liscence wise and theyve done 1 of the two but with the same superb pro evolution gameplay we no and luv.
I Dont now what you think but i think that pes 6 looked more real than this even though pes 2008 uses next generation graphics, but really what is there nex gen, only PS3 version is great PC is bad
@pauly yout problem is that your card is old it is no wonder it doesnt work on high i have 7600 gs and still have some frame rate issues on 1280×1024 high
Bruno, do you really think that PES 6 looks more realistic (graphics wise)? I just cannot agree with you. Player models, crowd, lightning, textures, it all looks just more alive in PES 2008. I think you’re just too used to PES 6. At first glance I though PES 2008 looked a bit cartoonish, but in a couple of minutes I was loving the graphics already (with the exception of a lot of face textures… it seems some were done in a rush really). As for the gameplay, I won’t judge it yet. It’s still a bit odd for me (it takes me some time to get used to new PES’s), but I think there is a very PES 5 thing of being able to dribble past 3 or 4 players in a row just with the D-pad / stick. I loved this because it was not something you could do a lot, and it didn’t necessarily require a great player, but one whose pace you knew by heart. When you pulled it off it was heavenly! Just like a good string of passes.
@Bruno: Oh, by the way, that thing about the PS3 version being better or worse than 360 or PC or both, it’s just a myth mate. Just like earlier PES games, this is a plain port. It may be crappy performance-wise, but if you got the right PC, it will look and run the same. I have an 8800 series and it looks sweet on high details, no hiccups on replays or anything of the sort. I guess I’m lucky it worked at all, being that I have Vista and its crappy drivers for the 8800s, which by the way is not even supported in this game…
fuck usa by the way
and mexico
I’m using ASUS Radeon X600XT. Can I use the high detail?
Gosh..why does it cost so much on hardware?
360 Version is Going to be Shit Because the XBOX 360 IS SHIT!
