Liverpool and Manchester United licensed for PES 2009?

WENB are reporting that Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will feature Liverpool and Manchester United as the two licensed sides.
Forget Merseyside Red… strong rumours coming through that Liverpool FC and Manchester United are this year’s two licensed Barclays Premiership clubs in PES 2009! We are currently working hard behind the scenes to confirm this rumour but as it stands the rumour has solid ground. As with the previous rumours we have posted this season we are confident that this one will be true. Stay tuned for more lads….
is it just me or is this not bad news Don’t want to sound negative but I would have thought that the CL license would mean top four EPL teams were licensed. i take it this is not the case?
I am missing someone here??? Won’t all of the big 4 be in licensed in PES 2009 due to The Champions League License?????

I’m with you though PESLEGEND, I thought the Champions League licence would automatically mean the top 4 were licenced?! The champions league would be pointless if you are playing as North London instead of Arsenal etc.
Exactly. If this is the case Konami are taking the p*** if you ask me as this indicates they are going to make a seperate CL game which I for one am not wasting my money on.
Still hope gameplay is great anyway coz thats what I am more interested in.
Shame my beloved gunners are not licensed, but Utd and Liverpool is a step up from Newcastle and scum in pes2008.
well its about time Liverpool get licenced this is the best new in ages but seriously konami think we are stupid nobody should buy the sepearate champs league game i know it hasnt been anounced but they must be doing a seperate one if only two teams are licenced again its a joke but am happy coz we will have real liverpool kits :D:D
I am confused?!?! i thought having the champions league license, meant that the top four, would all be fully licensed in the whole game.
I don’t see how in this case you can integrate the champions league with the master league and yet the teams originally involved in the champions league this year not be licensed.
Is this indicating that the champions league is definitely going to be a separate mode, which kind of sucks.
I was under the impression that all the teams in the champions league this year, were fully licensed and available to be used in the whole of pes 2009, not just in a separate champions league mode.
Although this would normally be great news about obtaining Man U and Liverpool, especially with me being a Man U supporter. I am now kind of worried because im now not sure what having the official champions league license means.

Nobody ever confirmed the top four would be in the game. Its your own fault for getting your hopes up. This is good news as it surely means Old Trafford and Anfield will be back if the teams kits are done.
i just hope with man utd and liverpool being licenced now(pool kit will not have carlsberg sponsor)the rest of the league will be able to be edited. ive a funny feeling konami will lock the rest of the league edit wise so not to piss off the FA
I think it would be great if you could see the league standings in division 2 in master league, it kind of sucks that you can’t do that! Would be very happy if they could fix that to PES 2009. Cheers
GOALGERD, why won’t Liverpool have Carlsberg on the shirts if they are licenced? Coz it’s alcohol? That just takes away from the authenticity.

Hmmm interesting considering the fact that all teams in the CL mode will be licensed, so that should include Arsenal and Chelski and also the German teams, etc
The top 4 club should be licensed but am a LIVERPOOL FAN so am delighted about Liverpool.
What I still don’t understand clearly is -IF- Konami have acquired the UEFA License, then they should be able to include the Complete English Premier league and German Bundesliga, right??
I mean, the EPL and Bundesliga are part of the UEFA Confederation.
Still, Man Utd and Liverpool -is- better than Newcastle and Bolton.
I am also a little sceptical as it would now appear as though the Champions League will be, at the very least, an addition to the menu options.
I am a “scum” supporter, as Mr ‘Anonymous’ so kindly put it, so, am a little upset at the change. In reality though, I don’t mind saying “I play as North East London”, it’s only a little less embarrassing than saying I’m a Spurs fan!
Im a Liverpool fan and if Liverpool are licensed, they probably wont have the Carsberg sponser because its alcohol, Rangers dont have carling on thier shirts in PES2008, if they dont have it, the Liverpool kit will look crap, I cant Imagine a Liverpool shirt with no Carlsberg on it!
I think might play fifa more this season if you cant edit kits with badges and sponsers. Im getting fed up playing the best league in the world with blank kits. Gameplay wont be as good probably but it should e good enough to enjoy.It feels like watching sky on a sunday afternoon with the presentaion and comentry. I cant believe im saying this but Im looking forward to fifa as much as pro this year. Its a sad thing to say but fifa is improving its gameplay while pro is stagnant for me. Hope Im wrong tho…..
Maybe PES 09 will have to be an 18+ rated game now if Liverpool are to have an authentic kit!!!
Does anybody actually know how the two team licencing actually works? I mean, if Konami have bought licences of other teams in the past (i.e. Arsenal and Chelsea) you would’ve thought that they maybe able to use them again.
To be honest I’ve still never got my head around why they can’t use the old names from earlier PES games. After all, all of the teams are named after places and the FA surely can’t stop Konami from using actual place names.
Listen i think this is a rumour cause the rules suggest that konami have the right to get all 4 top EPL teams, i have been doin sum research so calm down people pes 2009 will have all 4 top teams!!!.^_^
i completly agree with what ‘SPartan’ is saying about fifa. it gives off a vibe, a feel that you get when you watch football on sky. i think also the pitches and sound make a massive contribution to this.
i hope the option of changing the angle of the camera returns and the colouring and textures of the pitches must change.
also the speed has to drop and the editing MUST MUST MUST be better. basically PES6 gameplay and editing with a few nex gen tweeks.
i bought a ps3 for PES2008, and konami gave us a shining ps2 game, it was a joke. can’t wait for fifa.

It wasn’t even PS2. PES2008 only let you edit about 6 kits. Joke.
MAN UTD fan so im happy but whats the point of having champions league licence if you cant even get the top 4 from the english league licenced. And does that mean there may be some other teams in the champions league might no be licenced??. And there no point of having liverpool if the carling logo ent on the strip myt aswell have arsenal or chelsea.

Big deal! Get a license for every team already and the master league please do something different with it. Everyone asks for different nets or small things. Fake English league, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie and Rest of the world A and B. I count like 6 and 1/4 leagues. Can’t they each be in their own Master League? That right there is what they need to revamp, THE MASTER LEAGUE. That is their bread and butter and it hasn’t ever changed to allow more leagues and teams. And make a second division filled with random made up teams and not use real teams that should be in First Division. Lets go Konami lets not be like the MLS (major league soccer) and not do things to better your product and lose fans.

I agree with eddie. The master league should have more leagues in it so you dont have national competition for CL places and represent your country in europe. I understand konami’s difficulty with the licences but that is something they can change for sure. Normal currency would help too! Just little things to make the game feel more real. As I said earlier they are not moving forwards. Gameplay is the most important thing but not the ONLY impotant thing!

LEIPZIG is Aug 20-24. We should have a better of picture of what to expect from pro then. I hear that kit editing on unlicensed teams may be removed for legal reasons. Is this true? That would be a disaster for me!! Anyone know?
as a spurs fan i must admit the licensing of your team is not such a big deal. as long as the editing gets improved. liverpool was never a hard team to edit in the old games, just cos konami fucked things up last time round with two stripes and no pixel edit for badges. as for the rumours going round, it sounds like a return to the first pro, a master league division of mixed european sides. you are right spartan, fifa looks better than ever, and not on its own merit either, just cos konami have dropped the ball
one more thing, do you think konami read forums like this. if they did they would surely know where they went wrong. they cant be sat in their office thinking they released a top game last time out.

fifa 09 is going to batter the new pro evo game im affraid!, unless konami actually pull there finger out, and get more leagues. Would be nice to see Championship, league 1 and 2 on pes 2009. To atleast try and compare to fifa and to make it sell better with english fans.

agree with mark the nets need changing, you should be able 2 choose like you can with the turf patterns, gameplay is still the best but the keepers are shite which lets it down a little, initially i didnt know what to think of the game as i feel it could be so much better, also the crowd need 2 be more realistic, its little things like this which make the game feel more authentic! i give up with the licensing, its all bout the gameplay but would be nice if the licenses were sorted.finally network mode needs to be desperately improved even tho im shithot with a rating over 700, oh yeah!x

the gameplay has constantly got worse over the years. too slow and the graphics never seem to change. where as fifa are making hugge progress in gameplay and have always had superior graphics. ive always been loyal to pro evo but this is the last chance. i might give fifa the nod this year.
i hope that this rumour is true but konami need to sort things out with what they are currently doin eg anfield is always sold out every game so y not on the game and why is kop a away stand

Hey, I saw on Wikipedia that Chelsea are gonna ba registered too!! But it is Wikipedia so I aint gettin me hopes up…but it also says that 2 Brazillian teams are registered too…yee should look it up. ps: They should have registered Newcastle too :( !!
