I am going to be compiling a list of all online complaints reported on this site by you guys over the weekend. So this is a final call to everyone to please register your issues quickly.
Please notify other PES gamers that you know of who don’t normally visit this site.
The more info we get, the more we can pass on to Konami.

I would say there are a few things VERY wrong with online. At first I thought It was restircted to 1 version but it is actually All 3 versions (PC version surprisingly being the worst and PS3 being the best with 360 somewhere in limbo).
The things they have to fix are –
1) On the PC version when taking a goal kick when playing against someone with amber level connection (The circle is yellow/amber) the goal keeper completely misses the ball then picks it up. This happens when you try and pass it. When you try to kick it the game frezzes for a split second then speeds up. This is just terrible for this day and age.
2) It still seems on ALL versions online that there is a split-1 second delay between inputs and players actions. This is for even Green connection matches. This again is terrible seeing as I did not seem to have this issue when playing Fifa 09 (before Pro evo came out).
3) The lobby system needs to be revised, with the intro of lobbys and servers it makes it a little harder to find opponents. I feel like they should go back to the old lobby system.
I Love Pro Evo but with the Online they need to make some drastic improvements to make the game we all love and deserve.
should be able to group teams together, so a “no big teams” room makes it impossible to be brazil etc….that make sense? hopefully someone else can word it better.
the default level must be set to top player so as to make the defending AI up to scratch. i agree with the split second delay between button press and response online, never played fifa so wouldn’t know how it relates.

sorry i agree there is a button delay online but don’t agree that there should be one..!! if that makes sense..

i hav a problem with getting a solid connection, even after opening all the ports they told to, flickers from good to no communication
They have got so many servers and lobbys that it is still if not more difficult to find a game, especially if your finding someone with a good connection (solid yellow / green).
Why have they changed the way the format of searching for a online game from pes 2008. Yes the online gameplay was crap but it was easy getting a game.
Lots of people have not updated, so you cannot even play with those guys!!! Kick them off, or make it easier to update.
Why can the online play not be fluid as the offline????

Been playing pes and iss since since the N64 version always loved it, and with my recent PS3 purchase was looking forward to playing online for the first time.
To say I’m dissapointed is an understatement, how can it be this bad? at times its like a sabuteo game! The defence is really uncomfortable to play with, its as if the defenders are pissed and the response to a loose ball is laughable.
Then there’s the lag issue, I play Resistance death matches online with 40 other guys with no problems why haven’t they sorted this out yet? Does FIFA09 lag online?

And whats with the Red cards! I was sent of for clipping someone’s heels and he didnt even go down.
Where did it all go wrong, is this an improvement to the online play with pes 2008?

Scotty – To answer your question on whether fifa lags, the answer is very rarely. It does slow down quite a bit and sometimes you press shoot and there is a delay reaction. However overall the fifa online is far better than the super PES.

1) my main point, when we view a persons statistics and rating online can we add a fews things.
passes made, pass completion rate, shots made, shots on target, possession rate average per game, the main scorer of your goals, highest assister. these kind of things will shed some light on whether someone online is actually good.
sometimes you get people with high ratings, but they are rubbish and only play with barca or man utd and run rabbit to score.
2) get rid of the lobby system go back 2008, where it was easier to find match. or jus make it more easier to find consistant matches.
3) make it possible to log out of a game if an opponents connection is on red.
4)be able to ban certain teams from your room. not applied so much to ranking matches, but definetly friendly matches.
5)stop the lagging during matches
6) speed up the players responses to everything online, why do they ball watch so much!!
7) put the game setting of the AL on top player, it’s a must!!
8) sort out the red cards please!! these people who jus run all the time, get me sent off for perfect tackles on them.
9) get rid of this konami ID trash
The main online problem to me is the major slowdown. It is clear that this is a server problem since I never have any problems online with other games. Online on PES5 worked better than it does now. It is almost impossible to play a game let alone time any of you actions well.
I would also like better system to look for possible opponents.
Some simple options would be usefull and fun:
* A quick rematch if it was a fun or tight game
* Some small leagues – tournaments …
* Options to block teams to avoid players using the same teams over and over again.
Or even make a classic games room where you choose a fixed team and your opponent only gets to choose from some of their main rivals to promote the smaller competitions (Rangers-Celtic, PSV-Ajax, RSCA-FC Bruges,…)
Both online and offline the worst thing (sadly amongst many bad things)about the 2009 version is the tackling done by computer controlled players. Often when you make a dribble you’ll get a stupid tackle from behind from a player that isn’t controlled by your opponent. Same applies in the other direction of course (only yesterday Nesta charged a player that I had covered by Zambrotta at the far end of the box- penalty and red card) This is extremly annoing and looks to be the last straw for my mates and me. We have been playing an offline competition that will most likely end this years due to the downfall of PES (and some find it hard to embrace Fifa)

it was out at fifa09 but it doesn’t have all the new players whats the deal with that.. cant you do an update or something so all the players are in the right team???

Pro Evolution Soccer has been imense the last 8 titles untill now ! Dont get me wrong the gameplay is gd but there are far 2 many errors in the game which has spoiled it for me. Its really disapointing . Bought Fifa for the first time in 7 years and its as simple as this .. its better than PRO !
I think EA can only improve fifa theve got there base now and the game can only get better . If SEABASS doesnt vastly improve pes10 it will be the end of the series . Am so pissed off with the referes decisions getting sent off for good tackles its a joke ! And am not even goin to talk about online play! Its a farce ! Fifa is nearly the perfect football game give it another 2 years and it will be the best football out there ! Seabass has let us down badly .
- pes online plays like fifa: slow, unresponsive, late reactions, crap defending.
– pes online plays like pes 2008 offline: can take one player on a team and rip thru the pitch, much in part thanks to the online issues as well.
– the lag is unbearable, unplayable.
– pes turns into a truly arcade mode online where the winner is the one that runs all over the pitch and exploits the lag and crap unresponsive defense. really takes away the integrity of the game. cheapens the experience.
– why is there no option to select opponents closer to your region? ex: able to select players online in eastern usa, or north america as a whole, for a quick match game or any other type, to avoid the crappy internet users.
– why cant you back out of a game in quick match? when an opponent is found, there is no way for me to just exit the game before the match starts (or during!), when an opponent is found and its a red ping i have no choice but to put up with the frustration that is pes online vs a crappy internet player.
– why cant you have your own servers not be peer to peer systems between online opponents? have your own servers host the games to avoid lag issues.
– why cant you region free the online play? in north america, too short of a number of players are online at any given time for me to even have a decent time online. playing against south american players will probably just as bad vs european players anyways.

ive grown up with PES and i loved it all the time, even now in hard times while FIFA is pushing forward like i never believed. i will stay a PES fanatic forever, but you KONAMI have to IMPROVE our beloved game or you will disappoint millions of PES gamers, by the way you did already! YOU HAVE TO FIX THE ONLINE-MODE ASAP as A FIRST STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION——> AND TO SHOW US, THE COMMUNITY, THAT U FEEL BOUND TO US!!! NOT TO FORGET THE REFEREE DESICIONS AND STUPID AI CONTROLLINGS! IMPROVE THE GAME!!! DONT LET US DOWN!!!
Offline fantastic. Offline shocking. A brilliant game is being ruined by unbelievably poor quality online play for everyone. The lobby area’s are rubbish but I could deal with that if the online gameplay was ok but it’s not, it’s terrible. Was it ever tested and if so, who by? Someone from EA? We accept online is never going to be as smooth as offline, but this is the first PES I’ve played for a while which is completely unplayable online. That is a major shame as I think the offline game is certainly going in the right direction and is a major improvement. A fix is desperately needed to improve online gameplay to at least bring it to the reasonably playable level of the last few PES games online. Patience is disappearing……

Maybe this has been stated previously, but I would be happy with online if it worked well and the graphics were toned down. I’d rather have PS1 graphics and the choice of being able to choose difficulty levels than something I’m barely going to use at all due to the beginner difficulty level and that barely WORKs at all due to the lag. Sure, some people would be mad if Konami turned the graphics engine down for online, but maybe they could have an effects slider so that those with good connections or who value the graphics over the gameplay can “adjust to taste?”
Online,what can I say,unresponsive to button presses,defence run around like headles chickens,the “beginner”default mode has to be removed in order to make the defence more solid,terrible refeering also spoils the game and also the AI makes some appaling decisions/tackles without the players intervention.Ive been an avid pro man since the beginning ,but my patience is now wearing very thin due to the fact that once again konami have the audacity to sell an incomplete product ,but will duly accept our money for this.A repair to online is due with immeadiate effect and not until the next instalment.Dont care how this is done ,it just needs to be.The fans ,and the peoplee that put money in your pocket have now become restless,and now it is time for some posotive action Mr Seabass
I would like to see them add the option to have a friend be able to join your Master League and play on the same team.
fix the points system, at the mo you get more points for beating sum1with a higher rating and vice versa but it shud also incorporate the team u use, ie. if you beat sum1 with stoke you get more points than beating sum1 with bloody barca! any donkey can win with them!

Quality of graphics has nothing to do with how smooth a game runs online.
1)Im sick of going into an ENGLISH based server only ot be paired with a spaniard, french or at worst a italian player. Their connections are always red and the lag is god awful.
2)Even more annoying than that is when I finally get paired with someone and before i can even blink, they have picked barcelona, inter milan or brazil :| why can’t these players just man up? If I want to go rangers or try a new team that no one normally goes its near impossible as the ‘big team’ players just out muscle, out pace, etc all my players. A way to solve this would be to limit each player to going each team two or three times within a 24 hour period.
3)Players rarely move when you want them to and take forever to actually pass the ball when you want them to.
4)Wee boys who just run with eto’o and cut it bak at the by line for henry to tap into an open goal then watch the whole replay while pressing ‘GOAL!’ or more even annoyingly ‘IMPRESSIVE!’
Overall I can’t help but feel cheated when I constantly have to play Barcelona or Brazil even though I have picked Shakhtar or Scotland or someone like that. Really makes me not want to play as I easily get sick of the constant cheated feeling.

My complaint is simply: I am unable to play.
I can enter in the servers without problems, but I am unable to join or host a room, it merely states every single time “An error has occurred” when I join and no one is able to join my room (I see them inside for a split second and they’re out in a blink). However, typical quick game works normally, but match rooms don’t! Please solve this problem, I had it already in PES 2008 and it didn’t got fixed, I hoped it would be by PES 2009 but it isn’t.

Wrong place for me to tell you this mate but….
Go into your network connections and disable all connection ports that you are not using. Obvioulsy leave the connection that you are using enabled.
that will sort your problem out m8.
P.S. I posted a thread on the forum with reference to this very common problem quite sdome time ago but admin in their wisdom decided not to amke it a sticky.
You should at least be able to use your edited kit data online not the edited player stats sort out the lag big time I would create a room and have a green connection then as soon as someone enters it goes yellow. I went to that konami pes site a tested my connection I got A,A,B but not one game online that I have played has been lag free I am sick and tied of getting beat by someone who seems to be able to get to any loose ball,be tackled by my player but still manage to get up and collect the ball before me actually be able to controll the player I am using not just see him run pass a ball that is there for the taking see my pass that I know would be a perfect offline seem like some kind of amature miss kick online since upgrading to a next gen machine pes has not been as enjoyable online anymore what happened to the online tournaments.
This pes is much better then 2008 but needs to match the greatness of pes6 on the ps2.
All I have to say is make a server that only people with green lights (like me) can enter, so that people that have a good connection don’t have to suffer because of someone that has a red connection.
before i give my complaints, id like to give credit where it deserves i must say that in hardly any match i have experienced any lag, not even when i play a 2 vs 2 match, maybe in 1 or 2 matches ive experienced some but its minimal so that is one good thing, also being able to use the bluetooth headset is lots of funn!!
so with that said my biggest complaint is having to play 3 out of 4 of my matches against people who will only pick barcelona >:0, and what pisses me off is people running thru the defense like nothing players like etoo and henry are clearly not as good as before so i dont understand why konami makes them better every year.
my second complaint is the rating system should be sorted according to what team you pick, so if you win with teams like barca brazil you get like 2 points but if you win a match with a small team like groningen or wigan and beat one of the big clubs you get like 8 points or something,
other than that i cant think of anything else to complaint about,
There is an online simple option that fifa uses which i would love if PES implemented.
People are saying that when you finally do get into a room, and into picking a team, the oposition player may pick barca. In Fifa even if they pick barca, and as long as i am choosing a team then they cannot pick there side. For example, they may pick barca, and then in will say he is ready, every time i pick through a different team his ready sign comes off, this gives more chance for the players to pick teams that are more similar.
I really miss PES6 online.
The way that 300 player tournaments would kick off every 30 mins. Also within the tournaments you were given a certain number of stars to pick 3 teams that you would play with, which would stop you from just choosing Man Utd 3 times and force you to select some lower teams.
PES hasn’t been worth playing online since PES6 IMO.
I agree with many point that have been made above.. I rarely have matches online that are almost free of lag. In most matches many opportunities are spoiled due to the enormous lag and players teleporting, which is too annoying.
I also agree that the Konami ID should no longer be used. Simply use the PSN (for the PS3, that is) as it seems to be faster anyways. Furthermore, there’s no value add in having this Konami ID..
I also think that it should indeed be possible to ban certain clubs in your match room. The amount of players solely playing with Barcelona, Chelsea or Internazionale is shocking.. I sometimes try to make a point online to take an average team in the game (like my fav club Ajax), but most opponents don’t get it and still pick their unbeatable, unhuman team.
I have the impression that Konami doesn’t recognize the lag themselves. Last comment I saw from Konami is that they were surprised to hear about this and that it’s probably due to the ISP.. I totally disagree as my connection is excellent and so is the connection of many players I have played against: still suffering lag!
Have the ability to see a person connection light before you select to play him, and also be able to quit the match.
2 vs 2 online, 2 players on 1 console!!! (Co-op) It was possible in PES 6, bring it back please! Online play is ok for me, not lag free but ok! (If you have a good connection)…
guys does any1 know if the update hit the US network or not?
@ 39; Jasperinho…yeah I also like to play with the smaller teams instead of Barca, Inter, Brazil, etc. always the same!! It’s terrible…

Please tell them to fix the online mode until christmas.After that it would be too late.Everyone will buy fifa for the online only because the rest of it (fifa) is crap…………………….
I believe the online problems would be rectified if Konami just used the PlayStation Network instead of signing up to their own thing. Remember the same problems with MGS4?
Whatever EA servers has that KONAMI servers dont have as to be added to the KONAMI server because the EA server can fit 10 vs 10 online without a lag but KONAMI server cant even fit 1 vs 1 without a lag.

main problem is LAG…i used to play PES6 on my PS3 and the online platform for it was brilliant and reliable…on the other hand, the newer versions seem to be going back in time rather than forward!

1. Fix the lag. It makes the game unplayable.
2. Put limits on how many times you can pick a certain team, in say, a week or something. This would fix the ‘Barca Cheat’ problem.
3. Change the difficulty from ‘Beginner’ to at least ‘Professional’. Beginner difficulty is terrible.
4. Include the option of 2 vs 2 online on the same console. So you and a friend can can take on the masses on ONE console.
5. Keep ENGLISH servers as ENGLISH servers. By this i mean every time i go into an ENGLISH server, all i ever play are italians, spaniards, and frogs. Just for once id like to play an english player!!
The 2 main things they need to change are the LAG which is horrendous and the AI HAS to be on top player for all online matches sick of the godawful defending so many games ending up a cricket score because players just run from there own half right through team. I pride myself on my ability to defend well on previous versions but almost impossible to keep clean sheets on this rubbish.
Smaller things that need improved are the delay after taking free kicks and the referees are shocking. If they were to sort the two main points i would be more than happy with this game offline it is damn good but pes 2008 was better for online play!!!

i never had a solid game i live in nj,usa so i tried fifa 08 last year,gameplay is so arcadey and unrealistic i could not even play it and then i tried their online gaming it was spectacular i continued playin the game just for fun of it just because of their online gameplay it was so solid you can’t even believe it i played around 300 games and only 4 of them was laggy

also whats with having to sign in to konami servers every time . why cant you use microsoft servers. and why when you win a tackle does the guy you just sent flying manage to get up and run off with the ball before your player moves again. i still play pes when my mates come round but for online games must admit i play fifa which i must say is lag free and has so many option for leagues and tournaments it makes pes look terrible. but it still aint got the gameplay of pes.
people that have not updated should be restricted from online play until they update also give them a message incase they are dumb.

Have only played online 3 times all against barca for god sake. Signing in to even start playin was a complete nightmare.Offline i think its a very good game.Why cant it be the same online as well? Saying that MGS4 was crap online. It must be Konami games
they dont need to necessarily change much, they just need it to be playable with any type of connection. I’ve a few green v. green games and the gameplay was pretty solid. If somehow they got the red connection to be playable and the yellow to be as good as the green the game would be awesome.
fix the only difficulty lever is beginner, it makes difficult to defend and encourage gamers only choose good players just run and run no soccer gameplay involved.
After 5 years of PES, I only just played my first games yesterday and today. Just to give a comment here.
Yesterday I lost 0-1 against Man U, while I was playing Juve.
Today I won with marseille against Man U, 2-0. But when I saw that the opponent took ManU when I picked Marseille, my exact thoughts where “What the ****?”
Choosing the option “similar teams” doesnt work, since I never seem to get an opponent that way. People only wanna play ranking games with good teams it seems. Creating lobbys where the top teams are excluded may fix this. It would be more fun for all the football lovers among us.
While I do like the short comments you can give ingame, I would like to have the possibility to talk to my opponent while choosing teams. Get to know the player, maybe a bit of taunting, it would give more emotion during the game…
I really mis “the feel” of football while playing online.
Oh, yes, a manual could come in handy ;o) I really don’t know what else I can do beside quick matches!
Sort out the following:
1) the delay between pressing a button and the actual execution of the move.
2) more stability with connections (see cod4’s server)
3) and most importantly, the god awful defence you find yourself lumbered with regardless of which team you choose. For no reason, the all part like the red sea.
4) not the biggest thing but make the selection screens more visually appealing and easier to navigate.

Konami shouldn’t bother with online play. Lets face it, whats the point. They are clearly unable to deliver a good online experience. I’d rather they replace or get rid of the mode altogether. Message to KONAMI; Dont bother until your ready!
There´s nothing to say about online mode, everybody knows it just doesn´t work. Something funny: The local player always has a green conection, while the other doesn´t. What´s the point of this post?

Im waiting a half an our before i find a opponent with a decent connection… and when i find that person, it still lags! konami is ****. it pains me to say this but im going for fifa next year
Bring back the team ratings(stars) and when setting up a game give the person the chance to select eg,4 stars max this will stop you having to play against Inter,Man U,Barca, almost every game if thats what u want to do.
Bring back the competions option, not sure why this was removed as was full most of the time
I have concerns with the AI in the master league mode. It is something i noticed in the last game which i seriously hoped would be improved on in this one but i fear not. There is the feeling in an obvious sense that when the computer decides you are not going to win it ensures this.
Dont get me wrong i appreciate football is a “funny ole game” but when it becomes consistant it does get annoying to the point where the game becomes unplayable.
What i mean is that you can play against a team have all the possession, miss blatent clear chances, and in the last ten minutes give away a completely needless corner from which they score to win the game. Out of a total of 7 goals scored against me in the last 6 games, 5 from corners 1 a pen and the other a normal, fair goal.
I have noticed along with a few friends there does seem to be a delay in control and also sometimes the player does nt feel completely in control, sometimes even scoring with little effort but more annoyingly conceding penalties.
Just an opinion, interested to see if its a general one.
Pes 2009 Online- Unimaginative, jumbled, amateurish, mess.
Just to clarify I have a Yellow-red indicator most of the time so mines probably one of the worse.
Players are unresponsive, controls are very delayed, Players disappear, teleport, the ball does the same, players run of the pitch around behind the goal with the ball and the list goes on and on.
Rubbish Online interface, why do you have to sign up to Konami and fill out loads of info and then it takes about five minutes every time to get online and find a game, also alot of the time mine fails to get Online at all.
Konami should organise their lobby in a similar way to Far Cry2 or Fifa where you chose from the main menu multi player, choose the type of match you wish to play and away you go.
There’s a complete lack of imagination when it comes to Online competitions, as I’ve said before if Konami added an Online competition editor in the style of little big planet(sorry to repeat myself again)Then we could design our own leagues and tournaments and post them Online. There’s just so much you could, the possibilities are endless, just ask them to look around at other games that excel online, take inspiration and then elaborate on it.
Also I know this is copying Fifa, but they could have a Pes world Cup, with Online qualification for Tournament finals, like Fifa did last year, there’s alot that needs get sorted before that happens though.
Online is really bad this year…Unresponsiveness of players, delay, etc…That being said, it is not impossible to find good games….I’m not sure where you guys look but I get about 5 good games (with little or no lags!!) out 7 games….Now let me say this….A good pes player always delivers….If someone picks barca, then in reponse pick Man united (C.Ronaldo is almost unstoppable and rarely misses one on one; Rooney is also very good (strong, fast and can score goals); Tevez is just in the league of his own (fast, nimble, great dribbling skills and strong)), AC milan (Kaka, Ronaldinho and Sheva) or at worse barca….If you want a small teams’ game, then quite simply create a room and name it “small teams only” and when your opponent enter your room ask him the team he’ll use…SImple.
Now everyone let’s stop this barca non-sense and focus on online being fixed.
Do you really think creating a room named “small teams only” is a break through idea? No matter how many rooms you make with names like that you still get morons coming in and picking barca, brazil etc. Or you get spanish mongs coming in who don’t have a clue what the room name says.
Never mind who pick’s who, that’s not the problem.
The default level must be set to top player so if someone does play as a plastic fan team, they at least have to play well to win instead of run with Messi,Ronaldo etc.
Lag must be fixed.
Until then crap player’s who can’t play have more incentive to play than decent player’s.

no online tournaments ,no private online master leagues between PSN network ,not even a match score between previous head to head opponents no online player stats what-so-ever
offline played a master league game newcastle v besiktas ,and both teams played in black ,says it all really

What is the purpose of registration? I don’t understand it completely. EA FIFA never has this stupid registration! This is the main reason why Blockbuster never have PES in their store or even GameFly if you borrow you simply can’t play online. This is suck big time and the stupid side of KONAMI.
lag is the biggest problem… if there is no lag no1 would make any complaints…

i don’t want beginner mode because defence is awful with it…
why KONAMI always has to do something wrong, but so wrong it can’t be ignored… online mode is only reason i bought this game and i’m sorry now, to much money for nothing…
on the offline mode you can select unassisted semi assisted or assisted. when online you only have semi assisted or assisted! i can only play the game on unassisted as i feelit is 10times better! can sum1 fix this plz or iwill need tobe puttin the game in the bin
havent got pes2009 yet (waiting for xmas, something do xmas day) but i dont like what ive been reading. Grown up with pro evo and i was really dissapointed with the 2008 version online. seems lag is the major issue, it really cant be that hard to fix can it? ive got an xbox 360, most games on there have great graphics and dont just have a simple green pitch with 22 players to animate, how is it that other games have less online lag with up to 20 players on one game but pro evo cant deal with lag issues with just 2 players in a game?
ive played fifa 09 online on ps3 and the game is ****, people say its good but i dissagree, you cant take players on, shots r delayed, graphic wise its ok and having the other teams from lower devisions is good but game play is the most important thing, which fifa does not have, a really poor game.
hoping that pro 09’s negative comments r just peoples oppinions but theres so many negative comments, xmas day isnt looking too bright :(.
its funny because pro evo 6 on the ps2 ran quite well online but an xbox 360 version is poor online, whats that about???
come on konami get your act together and give the loyal fans what we desearve, dont save the improvements for next years pro just to make more money, its obvious that that is what the makers do. the improvements have been noted over the years but the makers ont want to make the perfect game in one incase fans dont buy the next one. RIP OFF!!!
got the new pro now, and i have to say what a disappointment, overall the game looks good and there are some good things about the game. game commentary is still poor, (why have lawernson commentatiing, sounds so disinterested)
the main thing this year is the game play, it was almost perfect last pro but this year it feels like the computer ai is playing for you, the ai passes the ball for you, you cant do a simple pass to someone. in the other pro evo’s you hold the pass button and its goes to a player further away but on this one it does not work. im quite a decent player but because the ai (helps) interferers so much it puts every player on a level playing field. so no longer can u destroy other human players cuz the comp messes things up 4 u, sucks sucks sucks!!!
however the editing is much better, music still sucks, looks bit better, i like the become a legend mode. but it takes too long to improve your player. you have to do like 10 seasons to get him ata decent standard.
come on konami makea game worth the money, this years pro is closer to fifa standard than the usual pro standard, pro is better than fifa this year tho but still sucks.
