I have the following newsflash from Konami, that I can share with you:
PES 2009: Free January Transfer Window
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed the content of its latest free download for PES 2009 for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD.
Due for download at the end of February, the update will bring all club sides’ rosters in line with all the moves and transfers made before the end of the January 2009 transfer window. Hundreds of players have been updated and corrected in line with their moves, with approximately 200 new players added to the game for the first time. The stats of thousands of players have also been refined, in line with their performances so far this season.
The download demonstrates Konami’s commitment to continually updating PES 2009, with further exciting downloadable content set for release in the coming month
Before we’re inundated with the question about the exact date of the patch- we’ll tell you as soon as we know!

Sounds good that more will come out after this month aswell! i wonder who the new players are?
Just ones added to the teams that are already on the game during the transfer window OR players who’s club arent on the game like Championship or German League?
Certainly this is the last time I buy North American PES. not only we get shafted for 1.2, but most likely we will get shafted for all updates. or maybe get them by next summer!!!!
Very frustrating to see others enjoying the updates while Berbatov is still not in Man U roaster!!!
Maybe Konami thinks that North American users don’t follow soccer.
I’m sure their logic for this is: “NA should be thankful that they are enjoying PES early this year as opposed to previous releases”.
Thats really good news. All transfers and teams updated, 200 added players and a hint at future dl content. Tbh im pretty happy with that. It might be a few weeks away but if they’re adding 200 players to the game im not surprised as it will take a while to sort all of them out for a start.
Its definitely nice to see that they’re tryin to improve the PES experience as the year goes on. That can only be a good thing.

I agree with Pate and Sand, this is just ridiculous. American users have not even seen 1.20 unless they have a xbox. Can teh guys running this site PLEASE ask Konami why they are blatantly ignoring North american PS3 users?? its crap… I wont be buying the NA game next year.. don’t they want to GROW their share here in the states?

So if all we have to do is buy the EU version (Don American), then WHY do they even MAKE an “American” version?? What is so different between these versions that the updates cannot be applied simultaneously worldwide?
There are a lot of gamers in the US and believe it or not we also like this game. Does anyone know if we have legal recourse against “Konami USA” for negligent support of their product? This is obvious prejudice toward the “West”… it’s not just USA it’s also south America, where some of the best players are from…

I really like PES and this update sounds awesome. I have the NA version of the game can anyone confirm or deny whether NA will get 1.30 at the same time as other versions (for PS3)?
I mean when you think about it the update of the rosters and new players is great I think 1.30 will get released to NA they might have just skipped 1.20. But like another poster said we will get this in late FEB and NA will maybe late March /April that by that time PES 2010 will be announced.
it’s cool to see that an update is coming at all. It’s sad, on the other hand, that it will come in the last week of february.
To all american buyers: It is really sad that you did not get the latest update (maybe Konami will give you the jump from 1.1 to 1.3) You should have received regular updates as well. It is ok, to moan about it, and feel disappointed. But please, do not use this forum to SPAM your anger about konami. If you don’t like the game, sell it on ebay. Or write an email to Konami US. Or call the Support. But spamming and crying HERE won’t help a bit..

Can the top boys at pesgaming give us some info as to northamerica and the update. I believe 7 or so people have commented on this issue in this forum, but no one has answered that yet. When and if you do find out all we want is answer to that. Just because we live across the pond doesnt mean we know nothing. Thanks for the hard work keeping in line with konami lads.

I was just wondering if this update will finally fix the freakin’ fatigue system… Only players with stamina above 85 are able to play more then ONE game in a role! And only players with stamina above 80 can finish a entire game!

i recently sent an email to konami support about us north american ps3 owners not gettin an update and all they said was that if they do decide to give us the patch(1.2 or 1.3) our PES09 will prompt us to update.

Hi Charles B (post 47) Doesnt look like their will be a north american update. We’ll probably have to wait till spring/summer to see that. By that time all the leagues, Eurpoean championships etc… will have been decided. Wait till November for the 2010 release. I know it sucks, but Konami doesnt care about us. Thats the truth.
I am not taking credit for this response. Someone in the forum wrote it up. I thought it represents how we all and including me, feel. Very sad.
Of course, PES2010 is gonna need a miracle to beat fifa 2010, if it happens, i will be the 1st to praise konami for turning it around. But EA already have the licenses, now they have the animations, better game modes, graphics, ai, and a better simulation. Pes 2010 has a mountain to climb, if EA can improve the gameplay for fifa 2010, i really fear for the future of pes. EA always had the resources, but they never gave a **** for years, but in one year, they listened to what the fans wanted in a next gen footy game, while konami pushed out the same old crap with a different front cover, now they are paying the price.
Can i just say, there are already threads on the ea website with lists of specific improvements for 2010, the EA reps asks for specific improvements, not wether you like the game or not, and they ask you state which platform you play on. Seems like EA will once again listen to what the fans ask for and try to incorporate it into the next fifa.
Remember the petitions against PES 2008? did seabass listen to any of those? LMAO.
We really should take legal action against Konami for their lack of support for the American PES2009 for PS3, if they’d do the same for all zones it ok, but they deliberately keep ignoring us the American customers, I’ve seen lesser actions for smaller things in the video game world get a positive result on court…….

Like that freaking Eto’0, I respect him, and he’s a very good player though but his shooting and dribbling are to overated. He runs through every defense like it’s butter and makes goals from every angle :S Much players are also undergraded like: Van Persie, Arshavin, Berbatov (speed) etc. etc. Can’t wait.

Another thing is i hate it when your own defenders tackle from behind and get sent off when I havnt even pressed the slide tackle button its really annoying. The next PES better be better than FIFA.
They need to update the stats on real madrid aswell, higuain is an amazing striker and on PES hes bullsh!t they have to up his stats! and some players are overated like eto, there is no way he can run through every team and score from anywhere! hes not messi!

It always puzzles me as to who makes up the stats, i seem to remember a few releases ago someone claiming the stats were taken from Football Manager??
The likes of Berbatov need to have almost 100% on technique/passing/attacking etc to make up for the fact that they’re relatively slow in real life as the game is geared towards faster players, particularly dirbbling speed.
I’ve noticed when playing that players that in reality are slow easily catch up with, and then disposes, players that are genuinely quick but not neccasarily the best players. I’m a Boro fan, Aliadiere is rapid (rubbish….but rapid) yet he is easily caught and the dispossed by the likes of Paul Scholes etc this is where the game, and its stats, need to be changed and i talso think this would posibly have the knock on effect of making people more likely to vary the teams they use online rather than just picking Barcelona/Man Utd every time.
@73 Nakamura swerves the ball better and has more control over the ball. Ronaldo usually puts his foot straight through the ball with dip on it.
Attacking players steal the ball and defend to easily.
There has to be something inside the game that balances this.
It’s easier to steal the ball with Kaka than with Ambrosini.
It’s easier to defend with Messi than with Abidal.
Complete nonsense.
That’s ridiculous and the main thing that pisses me off in PES- besides some dumb stuff like freeze at FK, invisible walls at throw in etc.

@ post 68 shaf man wtf?? pretty much all those are speed related do you really feel that messi needs to be better?secondly becks van nist and giggsy espec are not the quickest anymore so they are probably about right at the moment their strenghts lie elsewhere aeg dribbling for giggs passing and deadballs becks and for van nist its finishing and reation trying to bulldoze through defences with pace and power with any attacking player is not real football, i do however agree that some players on your list need updating but in different areas!

I’m not all that excited about the stats changes. I just hope that other more substantial changes are included.
The main way in which the stats change would help is with online gaming (by evening out the teams a bit, hopefully), but since online doesn’t work, at all, for me… I ain’t excited.
Note: you can change the stats yourself. It’s called edit mode.
Finally,hope the patch will allow us to develop the ability for BAL as well.eg. agility,conditions and others(the most).Why PES or Winning Eleven always come up with four league even in the BAL itself?anyone?Konami had come with the best soccer game ever and i had been playing them since goalstorm..but none of the master league expanding but remains to four league and abandoned Bundesliga?Please Konami,we are in PS3 now..its expensive to purchase in Malaysia..i hope they will improving more anyway..cheersss PES Fan..i salute you guys!!

nah i kno i have put down strength and speed bt if u read the bottom, the increase could be as little as 1 n mostly because some of the abilities of the world class players hav 70’s in their balance or other areas when it is not true because Messi is the best player in the world right now and dont tell me his balance is gd enough for the stats on pes 09 because it is definitely not. messi dribbles past people easily in pes and real life so its ok but in pes eto bulldozes and thats why i have put him down in the decrease list, messi should hav more balance as in real life, he doesnt get knocked off easily. anyway it was all a suggestion of what i was thinking of after i read this post…if i take my time am sure i can think of more defensive players as well…also my main concern was really stamina and the players who always tend to be weak in the game even if their much much better e.g. fabregas, gutierrez, arshavin etc…
1 more thing i like the suggestion of how the defenders hav more trouble snatching the ball off attacking players wen kaka n messi etc do it as well as them or even better so that should be improved

After that pes09 besides the online will be wayyyy better than fifa could ever be.

I think that they need to also bring back the option where you can mix kits. I.E. have away shorts with home shirt and socks. It annoys me when my shorts are they same colour as the opposing team.

It doesn’t really bother me, but i still think they should improve pes2009 more, it doesn’t look as realistic as fifa does. there are much more things you can do on fifa eg. more tricks and many more teams. but pes is still pretty good if you don’t to play fifa they should really try and make the kits like they are in real life aswell!!

i have sent email after email to them asking for the patch
well now the games is telling me to download the new patch 1.20 but every time i press ‘OK’ my playstation says “A server error has occured (HTTP Status Code: 400) Like WTF Konami you really suck my internet is working fine and it wont download and this patch came soooo long after fifa’s like it cant be that hard. PES really knows how to lose its customers.
Guys I have trouble intalling 1.3 on my 360. I have downloaded the FEB 2009 update but its not installing. English teams are all wrong as before. And most F***ed up thing is that i am not able to play online. PES Server not available. Anyone can help pls?
