i scored a goal using manual pass last night, tried what you said, i was running at a angle where using shot would not have worked so i used manual pass, went straight through keepers legs, getin!!

great read! there’s little about this manual stuff in the.. manual (at least with pes6)

i hate the 8-way stuff though.. is that analog on xbox?
i’m on PC with an analog controller, but it won’t go anywhere but those 8 directions :(

manual passing had never been a problem for me in pes with the d pad, untill 2009 came long with the stupid assisted passes. of manual isn’t in 2010, there is no point me buying it, as i like to pass teams to death, and i dont want the cpu interferring, giving away my passes to the opposition.

Paul, I am not saying that youre wrong but I know that I do have control of the ball using both L1 and D-Pad to the degree that if I am facing a player straight on I can pass it directly to his feet either left of centre or right of centre…

FIRSTLY i would like to add THIS GUIDE IS NOT RELEVANT FOR 2009 they made the manual pass AI assisted in this game so it no longer works correctly

secondly, you can’t truly direct your passes with the d-pad other than in 8 directions. manual is full 360, but you hav to play either Pro 6, or a ps2 version of 2008 or 2009

You obviously put a lot of effort in to your guide so thank you…

I would like to add however that if I have understood your guide correctly then I have mastered the manual shot/ pass without the use of the Right Analogue stick. If like me you have fingers like Chipalatas and possess the dexterity of a gold fish then constantly switching to the analogue stick can be problematic.

I may be wrong but with the skillful use of L1 and the D-Pad you have the ability to fully control where the ball goes with both normal and through pass as well as shooting. Using your example if a player receiving the ball is marked by a defender on his right, using L1 and D-Pad I am able to pass the ball directly to the receiving players left foot…

Again, my claim will only ring true if I have fully understood what you are trying to describe… If I havent understood then sorry for having wasted your time…

I’m def gonna give manual pass some practice now! I don’t like the fact that every player has the same ability of manual pass though. It seems stupid that John Terry should be as accurate with a manual pass as Lampard???

I’ve known about the power of manual pass, but I didn’t know you could apply that knowledge for shots aswell. Will give it a try later on tonight.

Its just the hard and clumsy way of doing something that we should be able to do with the left thumbstick and x,o,triangle buttons.

Great article mate!

Always wanted to give the manual pass a bash but I just always assumed I never had quick enough reactions for it. Going to give it a bash this week on 09, see if it makes the game anymore satisfying! I still have a fair few acheivments to get on it if anything.
