PES Matters 14 November 2009

Just when I thought I would change the day I post my articles to space them out a bit more from Dan’s IWP articles, I clash with his article earlier today again!  I think i will change to either Fridays or Saturdays to give IWP more prime space before I kick in.

At the moment I am still going crazy on the Master League and with essentially players with poor skills relatively, so the game is very challenging and not as rewarding as it will be when I sign better players and train up talented youngsters.  Once I get to a stage where I am playing with decent players, I will take time out to spend some time playing the latest FIFA game to once again devote some time to comparing these two giants of footballing games.

I know I courted controversy the last time I compared PES and FIFA, and it is a difficult and emotional subject to broach, but I intend to try to be as tactful as well as honest as I can.  I am aware of the fact that this is a PES site, and my allegiances truly do lie with PES, but I believe that in my capacity on this site, I should be challenging Konami to produce bigger and better.  Anyway, the actual comparison won’t be for at least another six to eight weeks, since it’s only fair to play FIFA for a fair while to be able to guage it’s good and bad points, as I am currently doing so with PES.

In the meantime, I am pleased to announce that we have been given three copies of PES2010 on the PS2 by Konami, which I will be giving away in a competition.  I was thinking about running another “Beat the Blogger” type competition, but have decided to run this one a little differently.

If you fancy a copy of it on the PS2, all you have to do is to tell me in no more than 200 words why PES is the game for you.

It’s that simple.  The best three entries will bag a copy of the PS2 game.  Email me at my usual address below.  The competition end date is the 14th of December 2009.  The sooner I get three winners the sooner the games go out, so get sending your entries.

This talk of competitions leads me nicely to my next topic of regular online competitions.  We are going to be teaming up with www.pesrankings.com with lots of exciting prizes.  We are looking to establish a permanent presence on pesrankings.com, so this should be an exciting time for everyone involved with our site.  We will be looking to create a trial competition on the PS3 very soon to see how we fair.  Hopefully we can get pretty efficient with running them, and have regular competitions for everyone to join in on.

That’s all I have for you guys this week, so I look forward to getting some entries in soon for the PS2 copies we have available.

Thanks for reading

  3. pes_BR says:

    FIFA = England

Brazil 1×0 England, Brazil every wins… Pes every wins…. sorry EA$port$ fans, in the final, PES is the best….

  4. minute man says:

  5. will martin says:

  6. Deadweather says:

    No mention of online problems?

DD why are you not addressing the real issues?

PESGaming is now officially a Konami marketing tool.

You and Dan may well do this for ‘Free’, but, you are now so far shoved up Konmai’s arse, that you and Dan should call it a day.

  7. christos21 says:

I think that the update is coming on tuesday because they have planed a major maintenance in the online servers

  8. gooderz says:

if people aren’t interested in f*fa, then just dont read the article :)

waiting for A complete option file before i get cracking on master league…

  9. Anonymous says:

    @ 8

thts exactly what im waiting for…and konami are taking soo long

  10. FOOTIE MAD says:

Well said 6.Online is a big ,major issue, its unplayable once more. These are the issues that need addressing, instead of skirting around the issue,im sick of now ploayin online as i just had a game with a 4 second delay, and i was totally not in control. This is the 3rd year running that online is inadequate.Surely there must be a law that covers false claims on items.I know it exists, but would it stretch to vidfeo games ,because frankly this game has been sold under a false claim by the makers of everything working adequately in the game. This is not true ,and gfrankly im fed up of spending another penny on a Konami product .Ive given them alot of money, past and present. And frankly the last 3 installments have been a massive waste of money,as far as online is concerned.I will seek to find if something can be done about this ,as for me this is the final straw

  11. christos says:

Guys 4 in a row half an hour ago.Four games button delay about 3-4 seconds. If with the update the problem still remains i dont know what i’m gonna do.3 years now…

  12. FOOTIE MAD says:

you see,it isnt my connection,my system,nm broadband,or anything connected to my internet system, the re4sponsibility soley relies on Konami. Was thisn game really ested for its online capabalities,I doubt that very much ,else it wouldnt come out like this .Does anyone remember back in the ps2 days when Konami would proudly advertise their product on posters ,and tv as to when the game was due out. This has all been stopped since the transition to the PS3.Is it because they know they cannot product a worthwile product on this machine ,or is it because they are putting out a very poor product .I want this online issue traised with konami, and the pes site administrators are in a position to to this ,so make it happen

  13. bundes says:

pes is so much better than fifa this year…my advice is concentrate on one game only…playing fifa will make your pesgaming better though!!!

  14. FOOTIE MAD says:

dont be an idion bunders, online pes is useless, offline aint much better, therew is a fault within the game as far as button delay is concerned,it burns to say so but i think fifa is the better game ,and i hate fifa ,but at least it works ,and they address their faults almost straight away ,look at konamin ,out since oct 23rd,and they dont give a **** as to whether online works or not, they have made their sale ,and so what, that seems to be their mentallity,it always has been

  15. Online says:

FIFAs manager mode beats ML this year. Yes DD, why do you not say a word about the online gaming ? Cats got your tongue ?

  16. SFX says:

Will martin stop blagging you love PES 2010 admit it

  17. annonymous says:

    whens the dam patch out!?!?

  18. covert says:

Plain Fed up. pes is useless. think im going to stick to playing footie for real and when it comes to picking up my ps3 pad, i think we all know which game i will be playing……modern warfare2

  19. J says:

The anticipation will have completely cooled now, the rosy tints will be fading and people would have had more than enough time to make their own call on the game.

    Post a poll.

  20. Deadweather says:

    J

Offline = Spot on. Really enjoying it. Master League is great.

    Online = LOL!

  21. christos21 says:

If the update dont fix the button delay and the little lag the game is over!!!KONAMI have a contract with fifa i suppose because 3 years now the online problems still remains,so i believe KONAMI promote all of us to buy the fu****ing fifa game.I cant understand what the hell is going on!!!!!!!!

  22. torrent says:

christos mate, i am hopeful that there will be something to address the lag, however in my heart i doubt it.

  23. Shtoomer says:

its refreshing to see how many people are now admitting that PES is pretty poor again this year…. its nice to see people being honest and realistic and not defenting PES through “loyalty” to Konami.

FIFA is a much better game this year, even though FIFA 10 is worse than FIFA 09. PES 2010 is not as good as PES 2009 IMO….

  24. Moker1982 says:

I have no problems with the online lag of response issues…

Had it once… and I played more than 150 matches online.

Is this Fifa Propaganda? or just some shmuck with a poor connection…

    PES 2010, I Love it!

  25. christos says:

@ 24 you are very lucky as i was for 15 days.Pray the lord that never happens to you because you will understand something very bad that last night made me cry for the first time in my life about a game!!!!BECAUSE PRO WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IN MY HEART!

  26. Nick says:

Is the update to address the button lag and online issues or is it also a player stat update?

  27. Deadweather says:

“You and Dan may well do this for ‘Free’, but, you are now so far shoved up Konmai’s arse, that you and Dan should call it a day.”

Happy to retract that. Over the top.

    My apologies.

  28. rob. says:

ive got a 20 meg broadband and still every game i get button delay 3-4 secs ive turned my ps3 off and would rather quit and loose 3-0 then lose 6 or 7….. this is a joke i even emailled konami and was told to try a wired connection too see if that helps well i aint gonna go out and buy and 50 mtr cable so i can play pes online?!?! ive played over 200 games online on modern warfare without no prob…. KONAMI SORT IT OR YOUR GONNA LOOSE ALOT OF PES FANS…

  29. Caniggia says:

Online works like a treat for us up in the nordic countries. Love it. The game is broken in many other areas though.

  30. Anonymous says:

Is this the same Caniggia that posted Vids telling us how good the game was before we got it.. Please don’t be lazy and explain all the broken areas..

Got both fifa10 and pes10 landslide victory for pes10 everything I work on in the real pitch works and makes sense on pes10..

  31. Shtoomer says:

@ 30 ANONYMOUS – so in real life your passes are on rails and their direction determined by some greater force taking the control away from yourself? Does it take you 3-4 seconds to do something after thinking of it?

  32. Deadweather says:

“You and Dan may well do this for ‘Free’, but, you are now so far shoved up Konmai’s arse, that you and Dan should call it a day.

Happy to retract that. Over the top.”

I take that back actually, I am NOT happy to retract! I confirm my statement still stands:

You and Dan may well do this for ‘Free’, but, you are now so far shoved up Konmai’s arse, that you and Dan should call it a day.

I’m fed up with all these blind backings for this years edition of PES.

    Deadweather.

  33. Shtoomer says:

@ 32 LOL, well said, stand by your word!

There are far too many people staying ‘loyal’ to Konami – why? why stay loyal to a company(unless you work for them)?

There is no loyalty in football, so why would stupid fans of a past its sell by date game be loyal to konami simply because they used to make good games? its absolutey f***** ridiculous if you ask me.

And no im not a FIFA fanboy, but i am a realist and the fact is that FIFA is technically a million miles ahead of PES on almost every front… why does this loyalty s*** blind so many gamers?

Agree with Deadweather, naive followers should stop blindly backing this years game because of Konami’s past success – and even this success is becoming ancient history, as they have produced utter crap the past 3 years…heres to a great 2011, oh sorry it will be polished 2010 with partially updated squads and the same animations, game engine, response times, goalkeepers, refs and god knows what else.

Come on people, see the reality here, Konami stopped giving a s*** about PES the moment MGS4 was in the works

  34. Deadweather says:

    Shtoomer

I would but that wasn’t me. Oh well, another name change in the offing!

  35. Firsty First of the Firsters! says:

DD can your Konami contact inform us when PES might be released on the PSN for PSPGo!!!

  36. Anonymous says:

    shtoomer was it you? lol

  37. Deadweather says:

@ 34 – whoever you are (Dopecoil?) can you please stop using my name. I’ve never had this before so why target me???

I confirm Post 27 and 32 are me, but post 34 is a sad imposter.

    Deadweather.

  38. Deadweather says:

    Simple simple Simon!
