Hello there, and welcome to another world famous installment of “Imaginative PES”, starring yours truly. It seems that worldwide, Spring has sprung, and has in fact even moved quickly into Summer. Where I live, we crawled out of Winter and skipped Spring entirely, and moved directly into the disgusting hot and humid weather that I can’t imagine anyone enjoys. I’m generally not a fan of abrupt change. I enjoy the seasons, I enjoy the gradual change. I like to get used to something instead of having it thrown in my face.
If you haven’t yet checked it out, our friend Seabass from Konami has appeared in a brief video discussing some initial tidbits about PES 2012. It seems that Konami is taking the stance that it has gradually introduced us to changes in PES over the years, and will be continuing the trend in PES 2012. In the video, Seabass discusses the inevitably-necessary improvements in AI. AI has generally been an area that is difficult to control in a way that most gamers approve of. The AI in PES 2011 was, to be honest, not very I.
PES 2012 seeks to have the AI on offense be more aware of space and how to utilize and create that space. The video is hard to read in this regard: it seems to show only counterattacks, with the players running full speed in a straight line at the goal. There’s a lot of the pitch out there. I can only imagine how PES 2012 will utilize this new acknowledgement of “space” in attack buildups. The video does show a little of how players will make runs into and from space to encourage successful passes. In PES 2011, I’ve rarely had AI players use their own imagination to create possibilities, or I have to send a player running forward after making a pass. Regardless, I’m curious to see how this AI situation plays out. Remember “Teamvision”? We’ve been duped before. Let’s hope this isn’t the case again.
Seabass claims the defensive AI in PES 2012 will be improved as well. OK, always a welcome statement. Defensive players will now have some sort of “hold up” play ability to help slow down a single player’s attack in the open field. This is interesting, because in PES 2011 you can either tackle/slide tackle or simply move your player in the way of your opponent and hope he loses the ball somehow. I welcome this addition. This will help greatly when playing versus those imaginative folks who use the same teams with the same top players and run that top player into the ground. All you can do is move in for a tackle, at which time he does a rainbow flick over your head and proceeds into goal. It would be great to back off, give an “aura” of pressure, use some upper body strength to hold him off, maybe to give another one of your defenders time to come help you. Sounds good to me.
But with these improvements, Seabass states that the game will become “more physical”. Does that sound good to you? Of course it does. But keep this in mind: the referees in PES 2011 are idiots. They call a foul on you if you mis-time a kick, missing the ball completely, and the defender falls over from the wind you made. In fact, I’d bet you got a yellow card for that. I completely encourage a more physical game. Let the guys have a go at it. But, with this greatness comes responsibility. The referees simply must get an overhaul. They’re atrocious, and they can single-handedly ruin a gaming experience.
And that’s my article for today. Short and sweet. Let’s have the video do the work for me. Give it a view, and let’s hear what you have to say. See dougiedonut’s previous entry, which pretty much summarizes the changes and transcribes the video.

Naturally, I’ve been, and will continue to be, skeptical about the juicy tidbits that come out about PES before its release. KONAMI always has some great ideas, but sometimes they just fall short of making those ideas fulfill our needs for the game. KONAMI recently released some unpleasant financial figures. I feel that this can go either way: either KONAMI will have to cut corners in game development, and PES will again suffer as a result; or they can throw some good money at the game that is their top earner, and bring back those PES players who have defected over to FIFA. In a few month’s time, we shall see.
Thanks for reading. As always, drop me a line at vince@soccergaming.com. For every email I get, I teach one child how to foul a referee and get away with it.

Sqaure nets!!!! Really happy about that.
Amateur, good news konami released this years slogan, “movement within space” woo hoo, and here s all of us thinkin your a delude t wat

Yep
@ rios nostills
That would be awesome if it was true. But we know you are taking the piss.
@ Sweet Disposition
I think off the ball movement could be almost completely automatic, but I think the settings for the off the ball movement should be a lot more specific if the off the ball movement is automatic.
For example, it would be cool if the user could go to the settings, select perhaps just two players (one forward and one midfielder), and assign a pattern of movement without the ball. The settings should give the user the freedom of determining where the target starts the run and where the targets finishes the run.
So that, for example,
1st — you select one player as the target, and tweak his off the ball movement settings.
2nd — the off the ball movement settings would be very specific and detailed, it would be necessary to determine (a) the exact position from he starts his run (b) the exact position where he will finish the run.
3rd — you could select David Villa as the forward, and then tweak his off the ball movement settings so that (a) the target starts his run from an advanced position somewhere near the opponent’s penalty box (b) the target runs into the midfield in order to look for the ball.
4th — you could select Xavi Hernandez as the midfielder, and then tweak his off the ball movement settings so that (a) the target stats his run from the center of the pitch (b) the target runs towards the defender who has the ball at his feet, in order to start the play from the back.
Even though the user does not manually determine the speed at which the target runs through space, the user at least has the freedom of determining how certain players move without the ball, which is something that is more or less possible in PES10 and yet impossible in PES11.
Perhaps the right analog stick or some other button could be used to trigger the automatic off the ball movement.

How do you want the off the ball movement to work?
Now we’re getting places!!!!
Need more images of the square nets
@ 159, defo wanna see more of them, especially in action to see how the new netting responds. Time for a new post now please, 159 responses equates to 140 messages from certain individuals bitching and arguing with each other like little girls, and a few responses that actually relate to pes 2012, lets try and stick to the topics eh girls.
Konami, please give us this option.

@ b-real
Yeah let’s talk about nets instead, that’s what manly men talk about….
@ amateur, sorry, i should have written 15 paragraphs of crap that nobody reads, a bit like you do,, my apologies for having an opinion that differs from yours, you are a laughing stock on this site and everyone knows you are a stupid, sad little bitch with no friends, so do me a favour and save your sarcastic comments for someone who cares, T W A T.
Yeah, no doubt about that, amateur is the biggest idiot on here, massive posts that I can’t even get past the first paragraph without falling asleep.
Nice new screen shots. Love the new enhanced level of detail. This type of graphics engine with the new enhancements should have been released in the 2008 version.
Should of, would of, could of. Seems like we have a solid platform after four long long long years!!! and the punters at Konami are listening.
Can not wait till E3 and the beta test gameplay video release. It will probably be the most watched video ever in PES history.
Looking forward to seeing the nets close up :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
@ b-real
Yeah it is always the better option to talk about nets and then refer to certain members as girls. Say whatever you want, at least I’m not the sad person insulting people over a video game.
But yeah. I agree with you, we need a closer look at those nets, yummy.
arnookibeast is a knob

I find it really refreshing that whilst there is a lot of debate and difference of opinion on this site we all seem to agree on one thing –
Amateur is a M A S S I V E T W A T !!!!!!!!!!!!
This website is going to the Dogs.
Any chance of a new blog entry?!? It’s been 3 weeks since the last one. Terrible . . .
What does twat mean?

Oh ok,
massive twat… it don’t sound like it should be an insult, theoretically at least.
Bob Bobkins is in love with me apparently, since he cannot stop talking about me. What a sad individual he could be, when all he talks about, in a gaming forum, is how some person who he knows nothing about is such a massive twat for having the nerve of talking about a video game in a gaming forum.
In WENB you had Adam saying what people are allowed to say. And in PESGaming we have people like Bob Bobkins making it their personal mission to attack people who talk about video games in a way that they (Bob Bobkins and trolls alike) personally dislike.
But of course, when Bob Bobkins says that he is a polite person in the real world, I should believe him even though he contradicts himself with his actions; why consider actions when you can believe in someone who describes himself as polite and simultaneously insults people for no reason at all?
Albert Einstein: “Anyone who doesn’t take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.”
I think that speaks for the vast majority of internet forums or websites. People who cannot take the internet seriously, will not take real life matters seriously; but of course PES is only a video game, so let’s reduce the conversation to saying “1st!” and then have people like Bob Bobkins insulting people who actually have something to say. And of course, people like Bob Bobkins, they are the ones who describe themselves as polite, and it is because they are so polite that they get out of their way to tell you how boring and how much of a twat you are.
Thank you Bob Bobkins, for being such a polite fellow, your posts are entertaining and humorous, a great example for everyone to follow. Again, thank you *thumbs up, then looks away indifferently*

i love this song i hope it’s in pes 12
The thing with witty retorts amateur is they shold n t be half an essay long with quotes by some old prick who you think will impress others as if its your own words of wisdom, i don t want to be rude but if you cant read some of your posts and see why you don t come accross well then it might be time to look into the fact you might be socially dysfunctional,
Why keep taking hits at each other? It’s not us who keep making a dreadful game year after year.
I ll be moving to fifa forums next year i would imagine if seab(ass) does n t get his finger out, time that sh it muncher past on the proverbial pes baton

Whoa! who are you? I’m the Lucifer here …..you pretender you lol
@188 FIFA forums are relatively tame and non-combative compared to this one. On the plus side they are generally visited by people who actualy like the game they play.
Amateur… Please dont leave… We will have nothing left to discuss…
If you promise to keep your posts down to a single paragraph I promise not to stalk you on here…
looooool
Amateur still comes to this site to sprout his faff. What a special guy.
People usually grow up a bit in a year…maybe it’s time to make some changes in your life…
FFS. You guys are seriously demented. Leave the man alone, if he’s sprouting nonsense then sooner or later peolpe will realise and just ignore him. Why do you keep at it? Stop taunting and teasing the man. Just leave him be. You are coming across as hoodlums and delinquents looking to instigate trouble and vandalise anything you can get your hands on.
Does anyone get the feelin that we,ve been abandoned. I feel its like we,re all on an airplane and the pilots have parachuted out………..NEW BLOG…please…..anyone..
Anyone know if they’ll be showing any pes 12 gameplay at the E3…? Think they did it last year with 11.
pes 12 looks exactly like pes 2011..wondering what seabass actually does? just add a cameraman to pes 2011 and voila we have pes 2012 :D its HIGHTIME u do something good seabass! or konami just recruit a good design director to take pes in a new direction!
