Hey lads,
The last few days have been very strange. It seems PES 2013 is generating some serious buzz. There is no doubting from the demo build, PES 2013 is a better game, the overall feel of the game is very different. I think most people will be surprised. The thing about it, is it enough to gain (and most importantly regain) fans from FIFA. Konami are letting the battle of the casual market go and finally concentrating on the hardcore football market. They are even tinkering with the idea of making PES 2014 fully manual.
The big question is whether football gamers will play the best game come this September/October. Thats more important than anything. Sales don’t equal the best game. I always said I would never buy the inferior football game and I don’t think I have been all these years. Blind loyalty is a stupid notion. I loved FIFA 10 but since that, I think FIFA have dropped the ball. PES 2010 started this new resurgance and PES 2013 will be the perfect finale for this gen of consoles.
The question remains: Which game will you play?

FIFA2013
Thanks goodnight
Anyone know of any actual gameplay footage online.. Like from people who have played the demo??
Hi Barry I really hope the gameplay does make it feel different and surprises me but personally mate I think it
needs more than just that to regain back players from FIFA.
Your assessment of Konami dropping attempts to appeal to the casual market and concentrating on the hard-core?………I hope that just doesn’t mean they are concentrating mainly on gameplay? What exactly is marketing for hardcore gamers to you? I buy and play PES every year now since ISS on my PS1 but I don’t think I’m a particularly great player (I suppose I could hold my own) my MLO stats,it has to be said, leave alot to be desired lol. I do however spend the majority of my time in the ML like a huge number of PES fans do I don’t feel I’m in a minority there….anyway revealing that, I ask myself are Konami including players like me in this new hardcore drive? There is an argument to be had that the ML in the PS2 days kept a huge amount of PES’s market coming back year upon year surely this and the other modes like it such as BAL should be seriously revamped and improved….along with the commentary and aesthetics of the game…to me these are features that are in much more dire need of improvements than the gameplay is. You also have to take into account that even though many have apparently said gameplay is the most important feature (I personally think when asked most gamers will answer that almost instantly without thinking it through) I think many have different ideas on what exactly that consists of.from no D-Pad to making sure it stays in the game, from wanting to slow the game down to its too fast, from realising the game needs scripting to wanting all scripting in the game scrapped and so on and so on, there just is very little unison on this and personally I think thats part of the problem Konami face when taking on gameplay.
Just a matter of interest did you read Jon Murphy’s interview? just wondering what you thought?…..to me he voiced alot about ‘sandbox’ or ‘sandboxing’ hinting that it was a serious direction that PES might be going in the future? I live in hope ;)
If Pes 13 like Pes 12, then no football 4 me again this year, if Pes 13 like Pes 11, but with better improvements, then I b back kicking all u girls again online, long live Pes, let c what thee demo bring us 1st.
@Fook pes fook seabass fook you barca boys
Fook you and fook FIFA13
live long and prosper :P
when is the demo comin out
Konami need to supply a cuddly toy with every game – replica of famous players in cuddle toy form or a footy with every game…….everyone loves a free gift and it would give it the edge over fifa……or for 1 year sell pes at half price so more people buy and play it.
I think thats all it takes to win back the market…if you have the best gameplay then you need to get as many people as possible to play the game.
Vote now…..
cuddly toy or football
I’ve got a great idea.
Lets have a poll about who is excited about PES 13 or not?
@ sanjeev
so you are on a pes fan site asking if people are excited about pes 13 – so what are you excited about…… Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion 2
no need for this and anyone who says pes 11 was better than pes 12 give me a break. took an hour to turn 90 degrees in pes 11
fook fifa and ea and paying for DLC
pes 2013 is looking sh1t this year bring back seabass
Lol Dec that has to be the most crazy statement on here? It does however bring up a question I thought I’d ask Do you think that PES 2013 would have been any different with Seabass still holding the reigns? And before anyone says it I do realise it’s pre-empting but hey I enjoy speculating ;)
Any body who say’s Pes 12 is better then Pes 11 is a noob, Pes 12 an assisted game made 4 level 1 players, robot game, Pes no longer as thee best gameplay anymore, it has thee worst gameplay ever seen in a football game now, no wonder Seabass got given thee elbow this year.
@ Lucifer – It’s not just about Seabass. This happens all the time in sports game franchises. They take a year off in a sense. So yeah, obviously if Seabass was at the helm that would mean a lot of things would be different, not just one man, but total resources, focus, objective for the year, money, etc… That being said, I have high hopes for a solid game still, because a tweaked PES 2012 might actually be pretty good, and I also like the idea of them focussing more on the future.
Mickeyp.. Pes11 was better than 12 becos of that very reason. 12 is way too fast. If they slow down 12 and sort shooting we’ll have ourselves a game. And take auto out of through balls and make defending more reactive. Too static and caught up in animations. I mean if I fail to get the ball once it shouldn’t take 10 secs to recover and remember what I’m doing.

im not drinking the usual kool aid this time around… sorry it doesn’t do it for me. it looks the same with just little improvements and that’s not good enough for me.
What went wrong sinds PES 6? Is didn’t said that the PES-series are bad from PES 6 to and with 2012. But where is the snow? The winter clothing for players like thermo shirts and the nice Animations like entrance from soccer matches? The celebrations and after the shooter animations where better then now is.

@ gola
not its not better,no way lol i disagee. Go online and see how many people are playing PES11….its a joke for you to say that, i cant even be bothered stating the many ways in which it is better its too obvious…they maybe 1or2 elements that pes11 does better but there is about 100 things that pes12 does better.
i dont like the trainers you make either…..each to there own
it’ll be interesting to see if the region restriction is still here. i’m tired of playing against mexicans and brazilians online.
ill be playing the new pro evo without a doubt :)
me tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Hi Baz, there is no question which game I will be playing, and that, of course is PES. Always has been and always will be! I look forward to getting well and truly engrossed as normal and cannot wait! But until then, my plan is to aim for a div 1 finsih in ML online. I managed div 5 last year, but have been up and down this year. Currently div 2 on a 70 mil team. I have had my fair share of top class 600mil to 1bil value teams, but have managed to outplay some of them to give me the joys of a well fought game.
Anyways, love the articles dude. I have left ya some messages on msn if you care to reply when ya can.
Peace out and all that palava.
Catch ya soon!
Bob!
@ Dave O
Well I’m sure time will tell in the end but so far to me it appears like the same kind of thing we’ve gotten this past few years from them, its not like it looks like a huge shakeup has happened highlighting a new person at the helm but more of the same pace that Seabass provided. Of course this is all my opinion and like I said I am pre-empting PES 2013 though its definitely looking like its going down that path
@lucifer
I reckon PES 2013 will surprise most footy fans. Definetly most PES fans. And some Fifa fans that are not merely sheep. I for one was not going to believe the usual marketing. BUT,PES 2013 is a massive change. PES 2012 is a good game if you play it a differnet way. I understand the exploits. I recently reached number 1 in the world in MLO and I admit that I exploited the fastest players and won that way. But,offline I play a way slower paced game. Pes 2013 has addressed the pace issue.
Heya mate, I know you are a PES-aholic like myself! I left you messages!
fair play you Irish legend!
Graphically? Yes its the same but think PES 2012 with 100% better shooting, 25% slower and 25% more physical.Play the demo and see
All in PES 2014 :( not 2013…
@ Barry
Hi there
I hope your right and it does surprise me, I really do but I won’t lie to you nothing has overly excited me so far in any of the showcase trailers, yes these things such as Player ID, etc are welcomed additions I suppose even though I feel that these features kind of (for me at least) represent the same kind of improvements with just more fancy names attached. I’m left now seriously contemplating ‘Should I get this game this year?’ and this is coming from someone who has always gotten PES throughout the years, I’m definitely not into FIFA either both games I feel have dragged their heels but at least FIFA has commentary thats somewhat decent and at least some work has been put into the aesthetics of their game. ‘I’d love to be given a reason why I shouldn’t ignore this release and wait for the possibly new engined, new ‘next generationed’ PES 2014 which is sounding more like an actual ‘new different game’ and not just a tweaked clone of the last. I’m just hanging on to see what is been done in the other modes like ML and BAL.
Anyways well done on the no 1 slot on MLO, I really hate you now! lol …..I’m only kidding, you did well (where is a cheerleader smilie when you want one?) these comments sections are in real bad need of smilies…they relate so much emotion lol………. get working on it you guys! ;) can you imagine the fun the trolls would have here with them? the mind boggles
@ Barry – I hate you too, and I’m not kidding. However, if you are an exploiter and you’re saying PES 2013 won’t be as exploitable, that’s awesome news to someone like me. I play a lot of MLO as well, but would never exploit it. Seriously, if everyone played decent (try to have some build up and don’t just keep spamming the same runs with the same players over and over again like a moron) then it would be more fun for everyone. Personally though, I think you exploiters are the ones who are missing out, because if you try to play realistically you can have some great matches when you come up against someone else who plays decent as well.
gotta say looks promising…as every year does though…..wont be surprised if it is greatly underwhelming….it happens every year…..at least we can proudly say with 100% confidence that once again online will suck.
Lets wait Pes 14 then!!!!!
@Fook pes fook seabass fook you barca boys
I gotta say FIFA13 doesnt seem all that different from FIFA12, i recall one reviewer saying FIFA13 is just FIFA12 v2.0
sorry me no waiting for pes2013 to come out, me get fifa13
