PES 2014 Editing

Hi guys, as some of you will have seen there has been quite a bit more info released on editing options for PES 2014. I originally posted a lot of this on my own blog a few days ago, but I have since found out a bit more so thought it was worth sharing here.

Kits

As was previously announced there are now more options for editing kits, instead of just adding a PNG for the front of the shirt, it is now possible to add one for the front of the shorts, front of the socks and one for each of the sleeves. The shirt PNG also now goes all the way up to the top and no longer cuts off below the collar. Also shirts can now have 5 layers, shorts 4 and socks 3 so kits should look even better. For more info on dimensions and to see some kits that have already been made check out the forums.

It will be possible to add 3rd and 4th kits for unlicensed teams, but there is still only one GK kit. Some licensed teams will have the option of a 3rd kit through DLC, you may have seen one of the pre-order bonuses containing 3rd kits for Man Utd & Milan (plus a few others). I think I read that these would be released as part of data packs at a later date as well although I could be wrong.

Stats

Stats have changed slightly, some have been removed, some renamed and there are a few new ones. The two new stats are “Ball Winning” and “Saving”, there has also been a adjustment to the player cards. They are now broken down into two sections Styles and Cards, the player styles effect how a COM controlled player plays as do the first 7 of the cards. The remaining 20 cards give players who have the card a boost in those areas.

Also on stats as well as the existing OVR rating the hexagon from previous PES games has returned. There is also now a whole page of stats that can’t be edited, but instead are worked out based on their editable stats to give you another way to judge player against others.

Faces

First the bad news, it is not possible to use face scans in PES 2014 and because of the new engine a lot of players who previously had preset faces no longer do. On the plus side though Konami have announced they will be adding more presets through DLC throughout the year, they are even taking suggestions here http://winningelevenblog.com/blog/what-faces-would-you-like-added-to-pes2014-after-release/ . Also the face build option has had a revamp and it is now possible to get some amazing results, so face scans might not be so much of a loss after all.

Editable Leagues

There are now three editable 1st divisions (containing 20 teams) and 1 2nd division (18 teams). Each of the 1st divisions is locked to a region, so one for Europe, one for South America and one for Asia. Each of these three leagues can be adjusted to contain 14, 16, 18 or 20 teams. If you reduce a leagues size from 20 teams the teams will go to the “Other Teams” section for that region.

Team Emblems

One of the best bits of news (& something we have all been asking for every year) is that there will be no limit on the number of team emblems. This means no more having to decide which teams to give a emblem to, and which to leave with a default.

Stadium Editor

As you will all no doubt know the stadium editor has been removed which is a shame. Much like everything else in the game the Konami make things is now different and I believe they were having issues with the results of stadiums created with the editor, hence it’s removal. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out and we will see it’s return next year, or possibly through a patch to PES 2014

Copa Libertadores & Asian Champions League

Both the Copa Libertadores & Asian Champions League players can be edited which is great news. You can also move the teams from these competitions to the editable leagues, so say you decide to make the Liga MX (Mexico) you can move the three teams from the Libertadores to that league so you won’t end up with duplicates.

Final Thoughts

Overall as a option file creator I have to say the positives of the new things far outweighs the negatives of the options no longer available (I won’t say removed as it is a whole new game, they just haven’t been added). As this year everything is basically new, please go easy on the guys on the editing section of the forum, they are basically starting from scratch. Also if you have never done any editing before now might be a good time to get involved, as a PES site we might not be the first with news or information, but I believe the editing section of the forums is by far the best in the community in regards to the amount of quality content produced.

Thanks for reading, Paul

    These are the best news about PES 2014 for home editors like me (making patches just for myself and my friends)

    Although this all sounds promising, I guess for most of us the really important info is how easy / difficult it is for option files to be shared. Lots of us will do editing of our favourite teams but the wholesale editing that goes into the full files most people don’t have the time or patience for (enormous credit to the people that dedicate themselves to doing this by the way).

    If it is relatively simple to edit and share option files that would be the best news of all… in my opinion.

    Today, I already pre-ordered the game PES 2014 :))) It costed me just 32.96 euros with all taxes x:DDD

    It’s the first time in my life when I buy a PES game !!!

    I’ve made the harsh decision thinking that this is how we can support KONAMI in further development of PES and only a PES buyer has the right to ask certain things to the company.

    I know, most of us are poor, me too, don’t worry, but I’ve saving money for 6 months for this moment :))

    PES 2014, at least in terms of competitions, leagues and players, plus almost unlimited editing solutions, is by far the best ever. So I was, practically, obliged to buy this game !

    In 5 days, it arrives at my very door of my flat at the 7th floor Ahahhahahah

    PS: See you online – my first time playing online and showing my skills…

    It’s been confirmed by a brazilian blog with contacts in Konami Europe and Konami in Japan that the Stadium Editor will be implemented by DLC in January!

    Besides that, there will be 22 confirmed stadiums additions in the next months via DLC too!

  5. Rob says:

    Good news about the stadium editor and great news about the editing options,but,we still need a net editor. I wasn’t sure about the gameplay on the demo at first but now I’m beginning to “feel” the love for it and I can’t wait for the full game. Hurry up you clever boys/girls with those OF’s .

    Could please give a website link or something ?! Otherwise, the news is amazing !!! We really need more stadiums…

    Playing Pes demo for 5 days flat and can’t get enough of it. And to read all these wonderful news about the editing options is the icing on an already delicious cake.
    Some few things I noticed about the gameplay that need to be ironed out are:
    1- goalkeepers: whilst very good compared to previous iterations, tend to do few howlers every now and then.
    2- low crosses to the near post usually results in a goal due to
    A- poor goalkeepers covering to their near post
    B- AI defenders stand still or take too long to respond to this type of crosses.
    3- AI goalkeepers never pass the ball to a nearby defender in goal kicks!!(same as it was in pes2013)
    4- why are there ,sometimes, sudden jolt of pace from some AI defenders(some usually very slow) that makes them catch up with my fast striker on a one on one with their goalkeeper?

    However the game is so good these hardly hinder the enjoyment. But it would be nice if that is sorted as well.
    Hail the return of the king!

  8. Jimmy says:

    @BubsyFaloceli

    Nice remarks…

    Yeah, PES 14 has somehow the same problems as previous versions:

    A – Bad GKs

    B – Bad shooting (like it seems the players don’t eat enough, the shots are more like crossing, and the ball is more like an air baloon, no power, no speed)

    C – Crossing and heading are laughable (very annoying for lovers of the english-style of play with pouring crossings in the penalty area)

    D – Heavy scripting (a defender will always catch you when escaping towards the goal even if you play speed merchant C. Ronaldo against a noob defender with 60 speed)

    E – Lack of game fluidity because of the replays hurricane !!! (no matter what you do, a repaly will get to your nervs… I mean, come on, replays even for out of the stadium shots ?! for every damn offside ?! for every normal booking ?! ) – luckily, there are some patchers who edit the exe and remove the replays hurricane (I keep only the goals replays), so the game has more fluidity

    And many more…

    PS: But, as usual, the gameplay patchers will save us again !!!

  9. BubsyFaloceli says:

    WOW!
    I don’t have a problem with crossing and shooting in general . But I do notice floaty shots at times…too floaty actually … But I quite like the ball physics most if the time and the crossing and the heading, along with the varying animations, I think it’s mostly brilliant .
    But as I said, the low ground crosses ( when press the cross button three times) to the near postto an waiting striker , almost always result in in a goal.
    This game, providing its gonna be the same as or better than the demo, is a stellar effort from konami considering the state Pes got to this generation. A stellar effort from those Japanese wiz kids . And should be called pro revolution soccer.

  10. Jimmy says:

    Nice to hear that you can score goals by crossing and heading… In PES 2013, it was a nightmare, almost impossible x:DDD

  11. InakZikaZeo says:

    @BubsyFaloceli

    Pro revolution soccer ha? I like that.
    Agree with you mate. Apart from those niggly bits , as a whole, this game in my opinion is up there amongst the best ever football game experiences. Am saying that and am an avid fifa player by the way . I have been playing fifa since 2008. Along with some iterations of Peses. But like many others who deflected to playing fifa 99% of the time. I am a pro evolution soccer lover at heart. And am now extremely excited to see this new Pes revolution , as bubsyFaloceli put it, appearing on the horizon. Thank you Konami for never giving up on us deflected fans. And thanks for giving us a gem of a game and a start of a new revolution. The return of the king indeed.

  12. BubsyFaloceli says:

    @Jimmy
    Yes. Scoring a header from a cross was not there at all in pes2013. Now it’s here again. Even though I scored a header only four times in my 30 odd games, but I had few headers saved by the goalkeepers and many others over the bar not by much. It’s nice to see they are back.

    @InakZikaZeo

    Glad you liked that! :)

  13. Giannis Bourlos says:

    Hi there!!
    I would like to know if i can do the same for the german teams like the Copa Libertadores example for the Mexican League?i mean if i’ll like to move these teams to the European default championship so that i’ll have to edit 3 teams less.

  14. Jimmy says:

    @BubsyFaloceli

    I’m so happy to hear that !!! I have a friend who loves the english style of playing football (lots of crossings – a spamfest almost) and he will be very enthusiastic about this !!!

  15. Valduramma says:

    “The biggest compliment I can give the game right now, is that because of it’s movement and tempo, it feels closer to what I watch on TV than its counterpart. I can’t wait to get my hands on the full version of the game to see how it shapes up”.
    This quote from a pes2014 preview in the Internet just sums up what I feel exactly . I would just add : Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Am so so happy and excited!

  16. Banayoti says:

  17. ScholesAbdul says:

    Does anyone know wether arabic commentry is available as an option in the European release of Pes 2014 please?

  18. Bryan says:

    I, too would like to see links stating the Stadium Editor will be indeed released via DLC please. And can you still add .mp3′s to play after goals are scored and the game is finished as in PES 2013 for PS3?

    My love story with PES started nearly two decades ago. I never really considered turning to other football game until Konami seriously messed things up couple of years ago. Last year I didn’t even bother downloading the demo because I was sure it would be the same bull**** as every year. Out of curiosity I decided to try this years demo and surely enough, some shortcomings were still there; mainly the terrible audio, poor GK, and floaty shots. However, the game play is superb and the graphics are pretty awesome too. I sensed a huge improvement and felt that nostalgic sense of reward whenever something actually panned out the way I had it planned in my head. For people who diverted to FIFA and who love a hard tackle, you surely miss lunging in on a bursting attacker since it never really works out in that aforementioned game. PES is a different story though. It never really was about licensing issues for me, or for most people who grew up in the nineties or early noughties. It’s all about game-play and that’s exactly what this PES installment provides. It’s a shame that Konami finally got it right as a new generation of consoles is about to be unveiled. For the love of football, let’s hope that they don’t repeat the same blunders again.

    Evety time the ball bounces off the crossbar the players freeze and lag occours. Frame rate issues. Defenders cant defend in the box. They stop and stare. The keeper remains static. Cant wait to take this ****e back at the weekend

  21. My brother suggested I might like this blog. He was entirely right.
    This post truly made my day. You can not imagine simply how much time I had spent for
    this info! Thanks!

    I created very many emblems on my own (complett Premier League,Zon Sagres, Bundesliga, etc…) but there are only 100 slots for created emblems and I understand that point at the top, that there will be no limit….
    or is there something i dont understand? :o

  26. PES plr14 says:

    Is it possible that commentary could be added for unlicensed teams in the game such as Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool etc.. so the team name is said by the commentator pre-match? I guess this would be difficult, as it would need either an original sample recorded by the commentator or a voice converter.
