Postal Strikes . . . .from 15th october onwards!

I'm sure everyone is aware of the current postal strikes at the moment throughout the uk . . . ?

anyway after pre-ordering my copy of pes 2008 ps3 ages ago from play.com, these strikes started to worry me desperately. usually play send there copies out so we can recieve it the day before/day of release. i rang play.com to check whether this would still be the case . . . .

they told me that "this is still the procedure", however. . . after confirmation from royal mail in various news articles that strike action will be ongoing from the week starting 15th october . . i can't see me getting my copy until at least a good few days after the 26th.

i have now cancelled my pre-oder and will now just go to a shop on the morning of friday 26th and purchase it from there. this way i will be certain to get a copy on the day of release( GAME, GAMESTATION, AND HMV SAID THEY WILL ALL BE GETTING HUNDREDS OF COPIES IN EACH STORE).

sorry to be the pain in the ass that breaks the news but i thought i should make everybody aware. cheers again.

Amazon deliveries are continuing through the strikes so surely Play's would too?

Up the UPS! (and Fedex and Schenker and....)

Lazy bastards.

I'm out in the morning rather than waiting for the postie to arrive

and aye, Play.com are very inconsistent with their deliveries i've found out over the years.

i can order something 'In Stock' and be waiting 4-5 days for it to arrive, or sometimes it can arrive within 2, dvds or cds

Glorified paper boys.

What they're striking over is embarassing.

Exactly, these pay conditions that are so 'inhumane' have hardly been publicly announced have they? Then if they were that poor postmen would probably have public backing, however they do a relatively unskilled job and should really expect a great deal more than minimum wage. Anything over £7/h is, I feel, unjustified.

Haha. Same here. I was considering pre-ordering it from the net, hoping the game would arrive a day early and in the morning (I can't see myself getting to HMV at 9am), but I didn't want to risk it arriving too late.

And yeah, being a postman isn't exactly a highly skilled job. They really are taking the piss with all these strikes.

Yeah i know . . .right pain in the arse lads. again sorry to be the one to break the crappy news but it's well worth knowing.

tbh i've waited this long that having to get it on the morning of release as oppossed to the evening before aint gonna bother me too much . . . .still pissed me off though as would've been nice :(

Lazy bastards. They spend more bloody time on strike than they do working! If they don't get my copy of PES2008 to me, i'm gonna get angry... and then walk down to the shops and buy it and send the Play.com one back :ninja:

well i was a postie part time before i went to uni and theyve kept me on for whatever days i can manage, sat ect. i started on £7.80ish or something,so for what it is it is good pay, thats suppose to rise to £8.50 sometime.having said that all i did was the walks,i think what there actually striking for isnt pay but the fact there vans can only go 56mph so that means later starts and theres suppose to be job cuts so strikes over job insecurities.doesnt really effect me like,im happy working through a strike tbh,its easy work easy money.

anyways i order on that shopto coz it was £30 and its said to be dispatched quickly,il see what strike dates are reveiled and may cancel

It's also usually cheaper online though ;) PES 2008 for the PC is £17.99 on play.com, why pay over £10 more?

I'm a postie and there are talks of more strikes, most probably on Tuesday's for the foreseable future. The strikes are nolonger regarding the pay issue and are now about pensions among other things. Don't know if your aware but from this week postal workers are now starting work later, due to speed restrictions on postal vehicles. Most mail won't be delayed but packets may be delayed. Best bet is to pay the extra on a special delivery as these always get delivered next day.
