hello, thanks for all the great formation, I just wonder how do I set these value in the game?

ZonePress B
Counter B

I can only find these two in the team strategy and not zonepress or counter?

BackLine C
Offsite Trap C

My current formation now is simply 433 with (2 CBs, RSB, LSB), (2 CMs, 1 RMF), (1 LWF, 1 ST, 1 CF).

The back line is pushed more towards the mid field.

It is very similar to default Arsenal formation, but pushing the LMF to a LWF position.

Back line and the the two center midfeilds are set on High Defense, and the remaining players are set to meduim. No low defense. Spaces between my team in general are reduced to minimum to make sure the team acts as a one unit in defense and attack and to create a war zone in the midfeild to the opponent.

I will keep the attacking arrows for later hopefully when I have more time.

Team strategy is set to back line A, and Offside B.

My strategies are offside trap, Counter Attack, Formation A, and CB Overlab.

Formation A is slightly tweaked to free my front line, when I noticed they are man marked ( I will keep that formation to myself for a while). But I seldomly switch to it, except at emergency.

The magic key here is the off side trap. The second the opposition is having the ball, my players perfrom huge pressure coupled with an offside trap (activiated with circle + R2). If you master this strategy alone, You would make wonders with this formation. You just need to perfect the timing. Don't hesitate to activate it, even more than one time during the same attack. When mastered perfectly, this strategy acts more as a bug in this game :). My opponents usually complain about it, especially when they end up the game with more than 10 offsides!

Setting an offside strategy with the back players applying pressure on the midfield make the opponent have very limited space for creativity. Even in those rare situation when he manages to pull on a through pass, your back players will have very long distance (my entire half of the pitch) to easily catch with the opponent attacker.

I tried this formation against possibly all formations played by skilled human opponents and AI. I also tried it in double players, where me and a friend were playing against 2 other friends. I score an average of 5 goals per match, and I concede 1 or 2. Of course, I lost some matches, but I won more and in general I am very pleased with the performance of my team. I even tried it against skilled human players with 4*2*4 formation and yet I had total control in defense and attack. And when the team is set to all-attack, then it is really awesome!

My center back is the third scorer in the master league thanks to the CB overlap strategy and every player in the team, except the goal keeper, scored at least once in by the end of my first season.

Try it at your own risk :)

Hi men
I wonder how you put your atack arrows for each players.
I read this and i think that your tactic can be good for mewith my Arsenal team.
Some days before i was plaing default Arsenal tactic, and it was nice, if we talk about possesion and ball control, but i was not enough hapy about my ofensive style.
I must say that i dont like to play with alot of ofensive players, without midfielders and with pasing like in some kind of pinball..

I just like to play in the way like Arsenal do..a lot of possesion, short pases, quick moving of players..

Maybe you have also your opinion about Arsenal line up ?

cheers

OK Guys
I hope after this post something will go on..
I play with Arsenal team and mostly i play against my friends
All the time they play with the tactics like shit ( 3-3-4 )
Ok, sometimes i win, and sometimes i loose but i think that with Arsenal and oponents tactic like that i should kick them ass every time 5-0!

But my problem is that i cant find balance beetwen defence and atack.
im tring to play 4-4-2 . I just moving amf from default arsenal formation on ss position. Mostly is RVP with Adebayor up front.

But always i have to many houls in my team and i kick my f...xbox360 in to the corner this morning sooo i beging you for some advice..

i'm almost exclusive to using milan and i love using the christmas tree formation... 4-3-2-1

---oddo--nesta--maldini--bonera---
----ambrosini--pirlo--gattuso----
----------kaka---seedorf----------
-----------gilardino-------------

i push pirlo up, and like to use oddo on runs up the wing to cross in balls to the amf & cf.

well, here's a twist to my original... a couple actually...

i've found that if i drop pirlo back 2-3 clicks and make him a holding midfielder, it really helps in defense, especially since he can make great passes from that position and get me going on the counter.

i've also tinkered with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation since milan have many great strikers.

usually on my default lineup it would look like this

oddo---maldini---nesta---bonera
---------------pirlo----------------
---gattuso--------------seedorf---
---------------kaka----------------
----gilardino---------ronaldo-----

i also have started using pato a lot more with updated stats, and he's a great goal scorer... i do have one of the strikers dropped back to the top of the box, and have moved kaka over 2 clicks to the right, and added diagonal arrows in both attacking directions. seedorf also has a forward arrow.

if using pato i usually make him a SS... and when i bring in ambro, brocchi, emerson (usually for gattuso) i'll move them slightly in toward the center of the pitch and change them from a RMF to a CMF.

i've found this formation very effective in many situations...

which leads me to a question.... in the pre-match setup, how do i know when its better to change formations?

i mean, if i only use the 4-3-2-1 and 4-1-2-1-2 formations , which formation is better verses other formations. i think i'm starting to figure it out, but in game i'll realize that there's no room in midfield and that perhaps the other formation would have been better.

any tips on which formations are better against other formations?

I actually employ a "My formation is better than yours" attitude by where if the opposition plays a 4-4-2 i employ my 4-4-2, or if they play a 4-5-1 i counter that with my 4-5-1. It works very well and im having good results with it. I used to just play different formations kinda randomly but this strategy seems to work for me

I tend to mirror the opponent's midfield, and always use 3 defenders.
Works like this:

If the opponent midfield is the usual

LMF - CMF - CMF - RMF
I use
LWB - CMF - CMF - RWB

With 3 CB's. In this case also 3 attackers, either with WF's or SS's, depends what I'm in for. I usually prefer WF's to keep the field wide up front, allowing for more space for the CF. I mirror everything, so for instance:

LMF - DMF - DMF - RMF
will be
LWB - AMF - AMF - RWB

AMF - CMF - CMF - AMF
will be
DMF - CMF - CMF - DMF

LMF - CMF - AMF - CMF - RMF
will be
LWB - CMF - DMF - CMF - LWB
etc.

Essentially always playing 1 on 1 on the midfield. The reason this works, is the use of WB's combined with 3 CB's. WB's act as SMF's while in posession, strengthening your midfield, and when defending they act as backs and take out the opponent's SMF's, while the CB's take out the strikers. This makes the opponent usually fails to find the unmarked player on your half, and has to resort to bringing in his backs or even defenders, which puts the trap for a counterattack wide open.
So this system is entirely based on making sure the opponent has no unmarked player when he is in possession, even his DMF's are pressured by my AMF's, making buildup play sloppy, and when the opponent is defending he is looking at a strong forward front combined with a strong midfield. Another added benefit is that CB's are typically stronger and better in the air than backs, which is handy for long balls and setpieces.

can someone please cook up a good formation for my team? This is my squad:

Buffon, Terry, Toure, S. Ramos, A. Cole, , Iniesta, Essien, Fabregas, Hargreaves, Van Der Vaart, C. Ronaldo, Robben, Villa, Ibrahimovich, and Rooney

Thanks a lot

Been playing a few matches with a 2-5-3 formation, and me likes.

----------GK-----------
--------CB - CB--------
RWB - DMF - DMF - LWB
----------AMF---------
--------SS - SS-------
-----------CF---------

Buildup play is very smooth due to having both the SS's and the AMF in reach for the DMF's, the wingbacks also move up with the ball and thus providing flank support, it is a bit vulnerable to counter attacks obviously. For some reason I prefer playing with SS's in this formation, they seem to be better for buildup play, as my WF's usually tend to end up behind their defensive backs and too far from the CF to achieve anything. Also the opponent's keeper tends to fumble the ball a lot (as do all keepers) and it pays to have 2 SS's nearby to tap it in. I keep this formation until I score and lead the match. I then change it to

--------K--------
CB - CB - CB - CB
---DMF - DMF---
-------AMF-----
-----SS - SS---
------- CF -----

Immune to counterattacks really, as you always have 6 people on your half. I soak the pressure from the opposition and once I get the ball, one long shot to either AMF or SS's, and the opponent has a problem.
