Lack of feeling when ball hits the net

I have to say although I didn't like the game when I got the demo and am still disappointed by some of the graphics and the incredibly difficult long balls but overall I think the chalenges and game physics are an improvement however I sometimes make a great move and end up scoring and find that there's just no feeling when the ball hits the net - I can't put my finger on why exactly maybe because there's no sound of the ball hitting the net or because the referee blows his whistle when normally you don't hear that in real life.

Sometimes it takes me a second or two to realise I've actually scored. Now, I know this might not seem like a big issue but it's frustrating because I remember on the older versions, a great 'feeling' when the ball hit the net. It's just a shame scoring a beautiful goal and getting no 'ball hitting the back of the net' feeling

has anyone else noticed the same? Do you know if it's the sort of thing they would look at putting in a new patch?

Cheers for your thoughts

OK OK I see I'm not getting anywhere here!

There should be a sound then when it hits the net, the net should rustle and the ref shouldn't blow his bleeding whistle before the ball's even gone in, what's that all about??

Do you guys who dont agree, find it exactly the same as previous versions then or can you notice some difference?

Yep. Exactly the same. No 'swooshing', no ravernous applause, nothing. It's a failing Konami have had with this game for a while. last minute winners should cause major celebration, especially in home games. It lacks atmosphere.

Thanks for replying Fick, definitely lacks something, it's just I never remember the ball just dissolving into the net like it does in this game, I always felt rewarded when I'd scored a good goal, here no matter how good the build up the feeling when it goes into the net is just 'nothing'

Pretty hard to describe anyway but thanks for replying. Do you have any advice on the R2 button post I made just underneath, would really appreciate your thoughts

Dude I was thinking the same thing. I just got the game on Friday but didn't get any quality time with it until yesterday. There is definitely something missing and I can't put my finger on it.

Definitely, maybe I need to get the old game out and see what was different if anything. Apart from that I'm really getting into the new game after an unconvincing start

Maybe the game should go back to the arcadey celebrations of early ISS games where GOOOOOAL pops up in big bright letters.

I usually get excited if I've scored an excellent goal, or narrowly missed the opportunity to score an equaliser in the last minute.

Yeah I see what you're saying, I'm not saying that I don't get excited by scoring goals, I'm just saying the game is extremely unresponsive when the ball hits the back of the net (I dont mean the crowd, I mean the ball and net physics and perhaps sound FX) - somehow you don't get that feeling you used to on the older games, that was what this thread was all about

I think I get where your coming from.

The effect of the ball hitting the net is important in my opinion. This version is much different from previous ones for sure, not sure how I like it just yet.

Not sure if any of you play B-ball games but it is similar to that, the sound of the ball going in and the effect of the mesh contribute to the feeling of making a shot or scoring. I used to hate it when the ball hit the net and it did not move, like it was a cage, this one moves but it seems a little off for sure.

I know what you mean there is definitely something not quite right. I noticed it the first few times but it doesn't bother me that much anymore. I got rid of pes6 so I cant say what it is.
It might have something to do with the ball physics rather than the net.

It depends what the goals like, if it's a crap goal then i don't get any feeling, but when it's a fairly decent one, there is some sort of feeling.
But i do see your point about the whistle and that, i always think he's blowing it to say i'm offisde, that's probably why there is no good feeling about a goal going in.

Hey I know what you mean but I think I've found the reason - its the PS3 version!!!

I bought it on release day and have played it a lot offline but like you never felt as if there was as good a connection with the game. I don't know if it was the controller or the actual programming. Anyway I decided to take the bold decision of trading my PS3 in for a 360 Elite and bought pro evo on it. Although the controller still feels alien I already feel like this is a much better version. I can't work out why though??

Also the PSP version is great too in terms of 'feeling' even though there is no commentary.

The solution? - Get a 360. Never thought I would say it being a Sonyite but so much better.
