I really enjoyed the Patch 1.02, left the game much more rhythmic, and the machine is not as good as before ... is more human. PES 2012 IS NOW!!!!

An improvement over 1.01 for sure. Still not perfect but heading that way IMO. I've actually enjoyed a few good matches today.

Things that need improvement:
- GKs rushing out when you dont tell them to.. concedes lots of silly goals
- Shooting still is unpredictable.
- AI free kicks on top player still a problem.
- Penalties seem a bit more difficult?(Or just me)

Positives
- Running bug gone-Thank god!
- Ball feels a bit heavier which is good
- Shooting is a bit better but still weird
- GKs are a bit better as well... not there yet though

Well, as long as they fixed the goalies i'd be happy. Need good goalies in games like these. Because the way they have it set up now, with all this unbalanced, high-paced action, it aint working.

Superheroes on offense banging in a goal a minute. You try and get revenge but you're greeted by the Great Wall of China.

And these last second goals that seem to happen every second game.

How can you balance this game. It's crazy. All i can think of is fix the damn goalies and shut down the scoring at both ends. Make scoring a goal exciting again, not just another basket toss.

The defense seems a bit better.
As in the players dont give up their position as easily on the wings and yes Ronald Messi and co have been tweaked...but you still gotta know how to back up and call for help at the right itme.

Ball weighs and travels a lot better especially in the final third. Diagonal balls feel really good.

You can still go around the GK but you have to time it right, so its more difficult and wont result in as many goals.

What speed are people on, people are saying that the game is now much slower, I find it still pretty fast on gamespeed 0, PS3?!?

About this, on PC the game seems quite slow on speed 0, I had to double check that did I accidently left it on slower. But this is no big problem as the speed is in balance. (ball, players equally slow). Can be tuned to +1,2 or with kitserver to even faster/slower.

Also the biggest improvement, by far, you can no longer dribble the keeper. You better pass it or shoot it. :) Awesome improvement imho.

I havent yet tried the patch but are you freaking kidding me??? How is the non ability to dribble the keeper improvement? lmfao no wonder so many ppl still like this crap game, if someone like Messi goes one on one hes going to get past the keeper 9 times out of 10.

As someone who spends months editing the game play on this game and notices any small changes to game play straight away, I can categorically state that 1.02 definitely changes the way the game plays and for the most part it’s a positive change.

Com AI has been increased. They pass the ball around more and sometimes now pass sideways and backwards instead of just playing a ball up to the forward. They will also defend better. There is now much more instances of the com controlled team playing a pass that puts someone completely through and there is far more running at you with players with good dribbling stats. In my view these last two cases happen too often on Top Player and against the very best teams this looks unrealistic and can lead to you conceding a lot of goals that you have no chance of defending against (though this is using my edited game play patch, which already has increased AI in conjunction with 1.02)

The game is very slightly slower and passing needs more concentration. Chipped through balls to the wings are no longer perfect each time and can go out or be over hit, something which rarely happened before. The com controlled teams have more of the ball.

As player dribbling and response have been slightly increased the game feels more fluid and you can work shots on goal easier, but defensive AI means the number of goals you score in kept at a realistic level.

I think dribbling speed of some of the very top players needs slightly decreased to stop players like Ronaldo beating 4 men and shooting every time he gets the ball and some of the passing speeds reduced slightly to stop 3 or 4 fast passes putting someone through with you with no chance of defending it and this game has increased potential to be a very good balanced and realistic game.

I've played around twelve games now, a combination of PC, out of the box game plus 1.02 patch, and PS3 out of the box plus 1.02 patch.

I can safely say, in my opinion, the gameplay has changed for the worst. MASSIVELY.

Before this patch I had configured the PS3 with a combination of settings including Chimps stuff, and the PC with version 1.01, PESEDIT and Jenkey's tools.

I deleted the PC stuff to give this a go fresh so to speak, and I really wish I hadn't. I reached a stage on the PC where I was 90% happy with the game, on Superstar mode with all assists off. On the PS3 it was the same.

The game is now near enough a mess. I don't know what people are smoking, but it's my opinion that on Top Player/Superstar the CPU is now just scripting far more stuff against you, and is far more rampant in surging forward like the red army. Teams like Newcastle are putting together stunning moves. I feel it's gone a bit like FIFA - the CPU will now try and manufacture a position normally in and around your eighteen yard box to give that killer pass that you just can't defend against. My personal favourite at the moment is the old through ball through the box with their striker hitting that kind of funny lobbed no power shot which still goes in as your defender runs alongside him.

On the top modes the CPU are insanely efficient in defence, I really haven't had a chance to test the shooting yet because in twelve games I simply haven't had the space to get off a proper shot. Although the times I have gotten off a shot it's been quite puny. Lucas hit one which floated, Suarez now can't score for toffee, there is definitely no oomph that Jenkey could create.

My keeper is like a fkin flid. Honestly, using the same defensive setup and patterns that say my go 10 games and concede 8 goals in the last version, I'm now regularly shipping in 3 goals a game. I feel for the first time since release that the CPU has engineered moves aka FIFA style. Their keeper is fine on the other hand, performing some great saves. I have seen too many deflected goals at funny angles go against me, I've seen me miss too many one on ones, I've seen the CPU have five shots with all of them going in (got creamed by Fulham 5-1, Danny Murphy scored a goal that Diego would have been proud of, I think he took three maybe four men on and scored).

I am absolutely gutted to be honest lol, as I had the best setup I could muster. I was playing on Superstar had half a season under my belt and was 8th, games very were realistic, I had to put the hard yards in to win, but rarely felt cheated in defeat.

This game is different. I feel literally buggered every time I play.

So, that's my take on things. This patch is off, and Jenkey's stuff is back on on the PC, and I'm just hoping Chimps can make his patch a bit harder on the PS3.

From what I could gather, from 1.01 people complained about

1) Keepers - I don't think they've been fixed at all
2) Shooting - I honestly can't see a difference
3) CPU more potent in attack - hmm yeah, they've that alright now!

The only thing I have liked is the fact that the CPU keep the ball more around the box, but I feel that is just a pre-requisite for the CPU getting into positions to play in balls into the six yard box that are just undefendable.

It's my two cents guys, take it or leave it.

i'll leave it thanks lol, only jokin, but seriously i hav praised this game but cant much longer, its no longer a game of football online cos everyone just goes barca, i even do myself now just to keep up lol, and neither of us pass!!! cos u will lose the ball, we both just get the ball and run at goal full speed drifting past defenders, if its messi, villa or sanchez its a goal, and even the midfielders glide thru for a goal 9 times of of 10, i prefer to pass it about but if u try that u get beat, simple, i only play online so thats all i'm refering too

Well I just tried it a bit with the new patch and wtf lol.

The more I play this game the more I think KONAMI has no clue about soccer.

WHERE I GODS EARTH does this EVER happen unless the goalkeeper is retarded??

When someone is running towards the goal and is like 25 meters outside the area, WHEN is the goalkeeper EVER so far forward? only in PES.....

Its so ridicilous that you can lob the goalkeeper 8 times out of 10... and we all know how stupidly LOW ARC the PES lob has, in reality players can easily lob the ball twice as high as in PES and they can rarely lob the keeper lol.

Another thing is the dribbling the keeper, its EXTREMELY hard to get past the keeper even with Messi when bursting to one side.

This is completely unrealistic, if the goalkeeper rushes forward toward you he is in momentum forward, and when you burst into one direction there is NO WAY IN HELL that someone can INSTANTLY stop and run backwards. only in PES.....

And yet they haven't even touched the issues like automated shooting... whatever im done with KONAMI and done with PES.

God luck PES may u rest in piece on the graveyard with other games, im sure u wont last long with such an incompetent developing team.

I usually write long, and to some, pointless threads weighing the pros and cons of each passing patch/update. Suffice to say I'll keep this one short - this patch is rubbish.

The patch has made it even easier for those with full assists, prior to the patch I didn't notice any really crazy animations of if the player was pointing one way he would generally pass in a way the body would allow, now I see these crazy 360 passes. Still the defending is helped IMO so I'm not that bothered about the passing as I generally stop people. I beat a barca user with chievo Verona haha it was great. Also I have found my team for the reals and barca...athletico Madrid had an easy 2-0 versus a higher rated real user. It could have been 5 -0

Big thing I noticed as a user of lesser teams, the first touch can be woeful, and general close control is harder to pull off than any 2012 update before. So concentration has to be high

This game can only be enjoyed by people who have no clue about soccer and how its played on a deeper level, its absolutely ridicilous.

Imo it shouldn't even be called a soccer game because it doesn't represent soccer.

That could be said about basically any football game ever created

If the opponent is completely clear through though, I'd want my goalkeeper to come out.

Hell yes. Yes there is a chance of being lobbed, but much more of a chance of a placed shot if the keeper doesn't close him down. And even with a lob, if he's close enough by that point the trajectory of the ball won't be that high and could still get a hand to it, push it over/wide, and if not slow it down enough for a recovery to be made by the keeper or approaching defenders.

Thank you of the funniest post in ages.. You've just taken this concept of having "a small fly turned into a big pile of smelling shit" into a whole new level. I really loved the beginning of the post Well I just tried it a bit with the new patch and wtf lol.
Well wtf lol, why you post anything when that's how much you've experienced the patch yet?

1st you're playing a practice with no defenders = goalkeepers behave differently as you got so many players against him. Completely already makes the whole screenshot / rant obsolete.

2nd Steven Justice pointed there.

Now I'm not saying goalkeepers or the patch is perfect, simply having a little chuckle of such a huge reaction  Thank you!
