I finally won a top flight league on legendary, in career mode. La Liga. I started off as Monaco and got promoted easily. At the end of the season, I saw Malaga was available, which was surprising to see a highly rated team being offered to a manager with low reputation. I took the job and won the league at the third attempt. And what a way to win it!
The final game was against Real Madrid, who were in top spot and three points ahead of me (second place). This game was at home and the previous encounter was a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu. A win would see me crowned champion. Real Madrid were 2-0 up at half time, but after a great motivational speech to my players, they went out in the second half and won it 3-2. At fucking last!
Or was it? Once the final whistle blew, I was expecting to see my players celebrate, but it was Real that were jumping around, hugging each other. Even the commentators were applauding Real's title win. I knew Real Madrid had the far superior goal difference, coming into the final game, but I thought La Liga was decided by head-to-head results. "Fucking bullshit", is what I was thinking and was close to turning off the PS3 in a rage. However, I decided against it, accepting the loss like a bitch. Went back to the career mode menu, only to see I had been crowned champion.
Great. Well, sort of. The fact there was conflicting announcements and no trophy ceremony took the shine off the long awaited title win. I started the following season but quit after a couple of games. I got bored of being a 5 star team, so I've started a new career mode, with Ascoli. That's more like it.
