No league mode in pes this year

quote from Davking "as somebody wrote on another forum its to do with these boot adverts popping up in mL. so forcing everybody to play the japanese role playing game final fantasy league. good old konami 1 step forward 2 steps back.
as they say on dragons den i cant invest in this so i'm out!!!"

So you see it is to do with Konami forcing their will on its customers..(there is advertising in the ML or have you not realized??).I Don't buy this argument about disk space ..it is not going to take much disk space to incorparte a few leagues..it,s not like you making new teams just a format (MODE) in order to play in a certain format

NOT GOOD ENOUGH

A quote from someone called Davking, who is apparently quoting something another person said, is pretty much proof that Konami are imposing a role playing-esque football game upon us? C'mon. Get a grip. Just because someone says something that another person said who is probably just a fan like you and I, that's now being quoted as almost gospel? It sounds ridiculous.

I can understand your frustration to an extent oggmeista, as you've specifically said you enjoy the 'multiplayer' aspect of playing within a league. But it seems strange for others to flat out criticise the decision when they themselves are simply referring to using League Mode to play "single player". Then to top it off, stating that the introduction of "different/unlockable boots" completely ruins PES 2013 on the whole, and as such, they will boycott the game and will encourage others to do the same. How ridiculous does that sound?

There's far less complaints in relation to gameplay this year, and that in itself is huge. This is in my honest opinion, the most solid and satisfying gameplay PES has had since probably PES6 on the Xbox 360 or even as far back as the last-generation consoles. Sports games often are repetitive, and as such, what is most important is gameplay, and Konami have nailed the gameplay this year. Is PES 2013 perfect? Absolutely not, no way. I don't think I even believe in the concept of a perfect game, but for the most part, PES 2013 delivers where it matters most - on the field.

As for the "boots feature" this year. It does indeed seem quite weird, I'll admit that. But at the same time, I'll always try to look for the positives within situations, and currently, I feel it could provide a touch more longevity to the game and it's ML modes. It gives the player an extra incentive to continue, through unlocking boots, training equipment etc. So in that respect, I quite enjoy earning 'rewards' as I would consider them. But ultimately, it doesn't have a massive effect, which is why I find it difficult to take people seriously who claim to be enraged by the new boots feature, because it's just so trivial.

Some basic rules here regarding longevity in a video game. How do you add more longevity? It's simple, just add more modes, more content, and better gameplay to make it actually worthwhile to access all that content. So this year Konami got 1 out of 3 right in that department but these days, gameplay is no longer king. Yes it's definitely important, if not the most important aspect but ask yourself, would you buy Pes next year if the champions league and europa league were gone, and the only modes to play were either exhibition and ML? It's a bit extreme I know but right now we're all being dictated like sheep into how we should enjoy the game. I mean look at those automated email responses where they recognized the fact that a good amount of people loved that classic league mode and yet they told all those folks to go fuck off online or play ML because it's more fun and realistic? ML and realism together in the same sentence? Not a chance.

If we don't speak up then who knows what they'll remove next year. From a business standpoint it's a stupid decision that so far I can't bring up a single benefit for doing it. Someone mentioned disc space but first, a mode that just makes use of content that's already on disc would barely use any disc space, and 2nd, iirc Pes wasn't even getting close to filling up a blu ray disc. Disc space also shouldn't be too much of an issue since in this day and age, we can install or download more content if needed. The fact is that Konami needlessly loss thousands upon thousands of sales by doing this. Others like myself are seriously questioning our support for this franchise from now on since we're all just being pissed on for remaining loyal throughout the hard times.

The whole boots ordeal actually does have quite a large impact on gameplay because it actually changes the way players behave and we all know that boosting a stat from 94 to 99 will have a huge impact on their ability. The gamers are enraged mostly because like I said earlier, we've been very loyal to them but they just don't give a shit. So it's mostly about how Konami has been treating us Pes fans over the past few years. I for one am not going to just bend over and accept it. For now I'm still enjoying the game, but the modes really let me down and I do enjoy it less then previous years despite it having the best gameplay. I'll keep playing in the hopes that they'll patch in the league mode. As for next year I most likely won't buy it on release day, which is going to be a first for me in a long long time. Depending on which features they add or remove, I might be done with Pes for good.

Agreed 100% ML does not equal to league mode!!!

Great post bro great post :)

but one question still remains

why?

I personally still believe it could only be financial given then their are advertisments in the ML this year endorsed by various companies, if they have made a deal to earn royalties for basically advertising the various companies name, I think that could well justify their actions.....which are greeed and sod the customer who won't mind the alterations

But they mis read the situation massivley :;)

a simple yet, effective solution. Good thinking.

what do you mean? Tell me in simple words how to play normal league mode in pes.

I don't know, I don't own the game.

Hunter - please can you assist Mr Farid.

Indeed.

Akdas Farid - When you begin a Master League, you go through multiple option screens. It is these option screens in which you choose the 'settings' for your Master League. Some of these settings include difficulty, match time, frequency of transfers (of which you can turn off), as well as player development (which you can also turn off).

League Mode was very similar to that of the Master League, with the only major differences being that normal League Mode would not allow any transfers or player development, whilst also being just a 1 division campaign I believe. Now, in PES 2013, you can essentially recreate League Mode by using the ML options available, and you will ultimately have a 2 division League Mode, as you start further down the pecking order within the ML.

Simply put, begin a Master League, and the first screen that will appear is a "General Settings" screen, in which you choose the settings you want. So if you want to recreate a plain League Mode, just turn off player development and market activity (transfers).

Also, Akdas, please refrain from double posting. We've a forum rules thread towards the top of each forum section, which I'd suggest reading. Thanks brother.

I'm glad you can pull a number out of your ass. The point is, no matter what percentage of people play league mode, why remove it?

As games move forward their should be additions that make the game better, and never certain modes completely removed.

Consider this. I've played FIFA the past few years and was convinced I was going to get PES this year. All I play is offline season mode, hence, it's back to FIFA this year or nothing at all.

I'm disappointed.

Well said and moreover the masterleage is only for single player which makes it useless as far as i'm concerned as I always played this game with a few buddies and a few smokes on an evening/morning and had a blast...

What is completely ironic though is that this year they have disabled to controller side check a frustrating mechanism which stopped a second human player from taking control of ai teams ..thankfully patches disabled this crap... this year you can move freely to control ai teams ,,but what is the point if the main leage mode is single player damn idiots....btw like u said I do believe this 98% has been pulled out of his ass..the guy hasn't got a clue and I bet it is nowhere near that number

No league is a major flaw in the game.. I spend time getting my classic teams and players edited but can only play in exhibition mode... Crazy. Shame because this new version has really impressed me. First one since pes 4 on the playstation to be honest. The edit mode has kept me buying this for so long. Fifa is shit, simple as that. So, the most impressive gameplay has been pushed to the side because some arrogant prick at Konami has decided that it would be best if we all played the game the way he wants us to... online online online online.. At last, the game itself is excellent. Just no fun in actually playing it though, lol

pes diary.....
So, the new pes was out. 12 was a bit lame so we were all waiting for 13...
We had been getting together once a month for about 6 years. 7 of us last month, £5 a man and bring weed!!
I got it on the way home from work, nearly crashed my van getting home! Out the box, 5 minutes mess on...... no league mode.. Erm, there must be... There's not.
I started making the phone calls... Everyone's reply was the same... 'There has to be..'
Have you any idea how hard it is trying to play each other in exhibition then write down the score and scorers when you're baked as a muthafuka... I suppose you have coz you must've been mashed to fuck to leave the league mode out, lol..
And as for the '98% of people play on line'.. just fuck off.

I hadn't thought of putting wagers on it or is the £5 a contribution for the medical supplies?

More seriously though I agree the game looks really good this year however under that beautifill exterior lies a malicious divva!...There are alot of things wrong and if u think 2012 had problems your gonna get a big surprise...I'ts not only the dumb move of omitting the leage modes, although that is the first thing i noticed..gues we have to make do the the UCL this year..one good thing is though that humans can play for the AI ...a small consolation

My take on the whole "No League Mode" issue

For pure football realism I prefer League Mode. First update all team squads, player abilities and give them all 'real' boots. After a few days or weeks (depending on the time I ve got) I normally would start a League Mode (Eredivisie) and play with a few teams. It has got a great lifespan and I was enjoying it every year because it feels so real. If you choose one team you could play Cup matches and EL or CL.

Now this is gone in PES2013 I only play Konami Cup or CL Mode. Yes because I can still play with more teams at once and the players all look as they do in real life; with real boots no Wepes nonsens or stats raisin up because of some boots.

The Master League and BAL mode are a no go for me. I know you can make it look like a League Mode by chosing the setting for transfers 'only me' and no player development before starting a ML but it's really not even close to it.

Yes, again the boots thing turning me off here. All CPU teams have their default boots and also have to earn it(?) so I spend hours for nothing changing Eredivisie clubs players with real boots. I thought: if the opponents look real maybe it isn't that bad... but no off course Konami have ruined that also.
So it looks like we are back in 1998 without brands and alot of black boots. Same goes for BAL Mode unfortunately.

In League Mode you can play match after match just in short periode of time. In ML even when you skip in the calander it takes ages with all the same video's every match and derby's etc.

This way of gaming is making it so fake to me. It seems to me that Konami only looks at the Japanese market with all the nonsens going on in PES. I don't think any European player can enjoy the magic boots, or other unreal stuff they put in there every year but in PES 2013 you have to deal with it! That's what annoys me. The gameplay has much improved this year so that's why it's bothering me even more than it would.

If League Mode is never coming back in future of PES gaming I will also wait with buying the game after release date. That has never happend since the early days of ISS PE on psone.

I would suggest a new set up of the Master League. Many people made already good suggestions, like:

- to be able of getting offers from other clubs (depending on your Club records/prizes)
- to be able to start as an assistent manager of your nation, next to your job as a Club Manager. If you are doing well you get offers from other countries. (If you are from a nation which is not in PES you will get an offer from a nation from the same continent as your country.)
- the option to be able put match mode players rosters/ transfers after every season. All teams will be set as your teams in your option file teams, except for your own team offcourse. This will give a longer lifespan to the game.
- option to make your own friendly matches during off season(summer and winter).

just a few ideas...

first of all sorry for my bad english.
i play the konami product from times of iss pro evolution, and the base of all sucess of the series was in a simple thing. 3-4-5-6 friends playing in the garage or at home drinking beer and smoking weed, playing a league in wich u choose the schedlue of playing maches (cause u always wait somebody, one pl is still working, the other will late with no reason blabla).
i understand the world is going forward, i understand that the 90% of gaming in the near future is in the online, but konami made the money on this concept of playing
its possible that konami didn't understand that in the world egzist hundred and hundred of small " home" leagues wich play pes only cause of community off line mode, cause they play to have FUN WITH FRIENDS? or we all must become "japanese" people which are connected 24 hours on line and play pes with strangers?
