It is happening again
Both I suppose.

If that's the case you'd expect they'd put all their effort into the PS4 version, and give the PS3 some shitty watered-down port. I remember when they first jumped to the PS2, the PS1 version of the game was essentially just a squad update of the previous game, with 0 changes to the gameplay.

I think that might not be true as the renders have seen so far have been rendered on this gen console(ps3,360). Also PS4,Xbox 1 are releasing late 2013/early 2014,which makes me doubt that they'd release a weaker(ofcourse overall graphics, lightening will be weaker) version in October.

i find any trailer, of any entertainment type, that does not show enough time of any one image to be annoying. This no different, yet alone just intro graphics instead of gameplay, another pet peeve of mine.

Yeah just watched it. Graphics do look pretty good, liked the look of the crowd if its real gameplay...

Roll on E3! Can't wait for this. Especially after seeing the disapointing cartoon fifa14 demo at xbox event...

Analysis of the teaser on PESfan.com
PES 2014 - Teaser Analysis

We've decided to pay our respects to the new Fox engine by diving into some up-close analysis of the PES 2014 teaser trailer.

The clip closes with the phrase "EEE" or "Everything is engineered with emotion", and that's not wrong. The faces of the players in this teaser trailer look superb - with unmistakable looks of anguish and despair. We had anger on PES 2013 - but the visibility of skin imperfections, pores and follicles on PES 2014 takes it to a whole new level.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/Facecloseup_zps66ddf627.png

The first shot, a close up of a player, gives you a mixture of textures, depths and lighting on the player's face. You can clearly see the pores in his skin, and his designer stubble facial hair. PES 2013 had facial hair - but it looked more like colourign on the skin, whereas this lifts off. Notice the construction of the ear too.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/Grass_zpscf723acd.png

We jump a few frames forward and see the feet of a player running out onto the pitch - a pitch that has textured grass on it, with individual blades. We can see from a later shot in the teaser that a player's foot will sink into it slightly too - it definitely has more depth, and shading when compared to its predecessor.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/emotionveinsweat_zps78aee099.png

Next we move to another emotion shot. This appears to be a man on the deck - and whilst it becomes obvious that it isn't a real person the longer you look at it, you would be forgiven for being fooled at first. Look at the vein sticking out of his neck - much more convincing than previously. Other details that stand out are the scunched up nose, the furrowing of his brow and the crows feet on the side of his eyes.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/Crowdflares_zpseadd9bc5.png

More emotion now, but away from the pitch. Gone are the days of cardboard cutout fans - if this is in-game footage then the atmosphere of matches will be much more intense. Smoke and flares, rhytmical bouncing... The Copa Libertadores matches could potentially be insane!

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/clothingfit_zpsc2075f48.png

Clothing fit - nice and simple but makes a great aesthetic difference. Here, the players shirts appear to be hanging from their bodies - as opposed to be stuck to them. We can't see to what extent at this point, but could be a great for physical tussles.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/anger-despair_zps2f9334c8.png

This is possibly the most emotional shot of the lot - a man raising his hands to his face in what looks to be despair. Has he just been sent off, or lost a major final - we can't tell but you can see his pain through the realistic shaping of his mouth and screwed up eyes. The detailing of his hands is also superb.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/stadiumcolouring_zpsf2c2e04c.png

There isn't much colour in this video but this stadium shot injects some - probably to highlight what looks to be a new atmospheric feature. Notice the tiles in the stands, producing that 'mosaic' art effect that can often be seen at big games.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/legmuscles_zpsda0680e9.png

Probably not the clearest example, and one that will require a little further analysis; the legs on the models in the video had very clearly defined muscles, but in this shot I'm trying to show that it isn't always the case. The muscles looked to be changing in definition, flexing if you will, but can't be entirely certain with the monochrome palette.

http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae97/grahamday/Foxball_zps16201f80.png

Not a graphical or emotional detail as such - but the ball clearly sports the Fox Engine logo, and rightly so too. If this is a sign of things to come then I, for one, am very excited for the future. Everything is engineered with emotion? I'm certainly full of it right now, bravo Konami. Roll on E3.

...and it usually isn't.

For those who follow this series, they know that Konami always introduce a "video Trailer" on their upcoming games. None of what is seen in these videos are actual game play.

Those videos are the game engine though... Some of the animations are not though but the graphics clearly are. Except the ronaldo one obviously.

I do follow the series, I have since the first game. I've seen the fox engine and the trailer does look like it. Quietly confident this could be a pretty decent pes game.

Noticed this section:

Heart: Defining what makes football so engrossing is difficult. It isn't a technical thing, but more an emotional hook. Matches can be imposing for visiting teams, as home support barracks the opposition, and acts as the infamous "twelfth man" by cheering their side on. PES 2014's "Heart" aims to recreate the effects of team support, both on an individual player basis and across the entire team.

Each player in the game now employs mental attributes in addition to playing styles and skills, and can be adversely affected when having a poor game. However, if an individual is not playing well, his team mates can rally round and will work to support him. Similarly, one moment of individual brilliance can produce a galvanising effect on team mates. The cauldron effect of a vibrant stadium will showcase the mood of the fans, with all-new sound effects combining with stunning AI systems to create a palpable match day atmosphere.

...... in other words - scripting.

Yep scripting, like every game in existence...

Maybe, but PES has the most obvious scripting I have ever seen in any game. It blatantly cheats you on a regular basis without even trying to hide it.

It does sound as though Konami are trying to justify scripting by giving it a fancy title and typical PR bullshit explanation.

How will we know this "heart" effect is taking place? Are we now supposed to watch slow players easily outrun speed merchants or skinny wingers outmuscle huge defenders and say "Ah, that'll be because they have heart!"

Hmmmmmmm.

Not sure they are trying to disguise anything with this. The game doesnt cheat its just bad programming. They need to make the game difficult but obviously their programming skills can't disguise it very well to make it look natural.

Look at AI in shooters, the run around and maybe hide behind boxes, and shoot. I remember F.E.A.R was praised by critics for its AI because the men ran round the back and through different doors to get you! Cool. But Imagine creating AI that plays as a whole 11 players to pass, score, support each other to combine in goals and run in realistic directions and react like a real team. It is not easy...

People seem to think Konami has put this stuff in to piss people off but in reality they are still learning and will be for the next 10 years no doubt.

Some people on these forums need to give them credit, PES could be my favourite game series ever, so if we expect them to produce a game every year we should cut them some slack.

Cut them some slack???

Sorry mate but I can't feel sorry for a company who routinely rip the piss out of their loyal customers year after year by outright refusing to listen to them.

How long have we asked for a revamp of the Master League?

When are the fixture lists going to make sense?

When will they fix the random form arrows which dont make sense?

When will they give us a decent online experience that actually works?

Why have they persisted with an old outdated engine for this whole generation of tech?

Why haven't the player switching issues been fixed yet?

Why do we have to wait MONTHS for a data pack to provide the correct squad lists?

Why do they persist in adding shit like magic boots and penguin suits when no one seems to want them?

I could go on. That's not even starting to talk about the blatant scripting which has plagued every single version of PES on this tech.

No one is saying it's "easy" but they are charging us £40 a pop for this game, which is the same price as a top notch AAA title at the end of the day, so it's up to them and their highly skilled team of programmers to give us a product worth that amount of money every 12 months. My job aint easy either but if I consistently had made an arse of it the way Konami have over the last few years I'd have been sacked. Long ago.

Maybe if they concentrated on the basics I mentioned above rather than wasting time adding in magic fucking boots they would have a game worth playing and wouldn't be losing their loyal fanbase by the thousands.

Cut them some slack? I cut them plenty of slack when I was blindly paying £40 for a substandard product year after year in the hope that they would "get it right this time" when they clearly couldn't be arsed making a real effort on reproducing the kind of PES experience we all fell in love with years ago.

This is my view on PES which is why I wont be cutting them any slack whatsoever. If you like it that's great but for me it's falling way below the acceptable standard of modern gaming and has been for years.

^ Let alone removing features from the game on a regular bases!

Exactly mate. The list goes on and on!

We're paying customers, not Konami's mates! There is no reason whatsoever for us to cut them any slack.

They will, like anyone in business, have had endless meetings where all of the decisions they made over the years will have been discussed over and over again and yet they STILL thought that things like removing the league mode was a good idea? How is that even possible? Did no one pipe up and say it would be a monumentally stupid idea?

My gut feeling is that PES has simply slipped way down the list of Konami's priorities for this entire generation of tech. The only department that hasn't been on a go slow is the PR people who have been as rampant as ever in their efforts to convince us to buy the game.

Sorry, but I don't agree. I really wouldn't know the amount of hours I got out of PES this year. Hundreds at least. I don't play the competition modes, never have, so this feature didn't bother me. I either play online or against mates and the core gameplay this year, in my opinion is the best they have ever produced.

They don't have the massive team or money like EA. And PES is not the money spinner like MGS to them so why would they make it a priority? Simple business.

PES never even outsold FIFA in its heyday so nothing has changed there.

So yeah, I paid £32 last year, I've definitely got my moneys worth!

I'm not saying there can't be improvements because there clearly can be. But I can see it is moving in the right direction now.
