names can be turned off in settings, wouldnt the first place to check be there if you want something changed? The radar was annoying me so the first thing i did was make it translucent.

this year you can switch radar compelteley off  been waiting for this for years

Lol this is just stupid, you can still switch to the player closest to the ball by tapping L1. Also use square at times to pressure with another player.

Clearly you did not read the original post.
The point is that the switching halts the player's movement and momentum. By the time you've switched and waited for you player to accelerate, the CPU has already passed you. This is a programming defect.

It's a PS3 buddy, what do you expect ? a 2006 technology. Thank God game companies still develop games specifically for your consoles because they make better money from selling you their games.
Most of today games suck because they're design for those crappy 512mb ram consoles. And even when they're released on PC they do using a garbage port. The glory days are long gone when the PC was the brain of gaming.

Wow so the EU version of the demo really does play lot better. Frame rate issues are gone. The Team selection menu has no lag.The game speed overall feels lot more balanced due to which Dribbling is bit easier and shooting feels perfect (Not Floaty). Also your finger doesn't tire out after playing 4-5 games.

no it doesn't

Hmm, don't think I like this. It feels so FIFA - all heavy and uncontrolled. I can't do anything, the ball just stays in midfield with everyone getting disposessed. Very anti shhoting, and the throw in animation - where your player chases the ball down the touchline, picks it up and runs back to the place it went out, will fast become extremely annoying. Dissapointed so far, and can't see myself getting into it, it just feels too much like a fifa game, and I hate fifa since fifa 98. I was going to sell 2013 to put the tenner towards GTAV on Tuesday, don't think I will now.

This game has great gameplay when the frame rate is up and running well but when it drops it kills the experience. It always drops around the goal area in corner kicks or in crowded areas. Could this be because not only the crowded screen but also all the animated bill boards? Can frame rate be fixed for the retail game or should we expect this to stay ?

loving the gameplay, completley different from fifa. fifa is 1 or 2 passes and through on goal everytime very arcadey. Pes now requires some nice build up play and to actually look for holes in there formation etc. Sure there is a few annoying things but imo its the finest footy game every produced. I have played them all since football on the vextrex console who remembers that ? :D

here is the super fast sprint rush controlled by the CPU and not the person playing.... They better fix this !

http://i.minus.com/ib2yX1zW0tQira.gif

Yeah i blew past a defender with Ronaldo the other day and the CPU tracked back to me way too quickly...in previous versions i think it was called the "catch up bug" im sure it will be patched though. Other than that i do kind of like the realistic ball mechanics and how its not just glued to the players foot and looks somewhat clumsy like in real life..unless ur Messi

use the technical shot..it works alot better if ur in the 6 yard box.
hold RT, aim for the open post of the goal, press shoot with about halfbar power and it works perfect..the secret is to give ur self about arms reach space between u and the keeper before u do it or else he will jump on the ball or stop the shot.

the framerate has nothing to do with unresponsive controls and only your players walking with the ball at 1km/h. the gameplay is horribly broken. I thought I was a pes fanboy but what I read here in this topic is far worse in sticking your head in the ground.

Played a bunch more. Still don't like switching at all and AI dribbling is infuriating. Like the dynamic throws, not sure what to make of the weight system, wish I could turn replays off.

Having come to grips with the passing system and teammate movement, I've discovered that through balls (especially lofted) are borderline win button good. Hopefully won't be as noticeable with bad teams (as all the demo teams are above-average technically), but defenses (both player and AI) seem entirely unable to cope with any form of combination play culminating in a through pass. It works *reaaaaaallllly* well with attacking wingers playing off a strong striker due to the inability of the AI to track and/or nullify secondary runs and overlaps following a pass. Doesn't work quite as well with less wide formations but is still effective. It is not something that has to be spammed to work, either, as the defensive movement itself creates the opening time and again for both sides. Of all things, the catchup bug might be the only way to deal with it!

I'll be waiting for the PC version as the optimisation on consoles is just horrific, and it looks like crap.

The gameplay is not horribly broken. Plus I'm complaining about the frame rate. How does that make me a fanboy? Anyways. Can it be fixed or we will have this issue on the retail version??? The question wasn't answered !

A difference of opinion does not make one a fanboy and the other a legend. Stop pretending like your opinion is the truth. You have a right to believe in what you like and what you don't, but you don't have the right to pretend like your opinion is reality. It's only reality for you.

Not true. The graphics are superb on my ps3. It must be your TV then.

I've played the demo and came to this conclusion. Pes 14 is the best pes on ps3/360 without a doubt, but it isn't without it's fair share of problems. In my eyes, pes 14 is the first step that pes has finally taken to merit the term "evolution", but it lacks certain polish (at this stage) that it still cannot be as great as it should be.

Now, I do have two theories on this. One could be konami's fault for the lack of polish and two the console memory limitations. As you may know, the fox engine was not really developed for 512 mb of memory that these current consoles have. So in a way, it could be that ps 14 was held back.

So as for the positives and negatives:

Pros:
- Animations. It looks seriously more realistic than Fifa now with player shifting weight and battling for the ball

- ball freedom. Great.

- passing. Takes time getting used to, but I can feel it's power

- Feel. Scoring is actually rewarding now because it puts a smile on my face

- Pace. Excellent.

- Graphics. Stadiums have really good level of details.

- Keepers. Although they could always improve especially on positioning, the keepers are a massive improvement. And the keepers also have individuality. Buffon and Neuer are way harder to beat even when they're in my control.

- Individuality. Somehow the player feel even better now.

Cons:

THE BIGGEST and by far Pes 14's downfall is the input lag. This extends to shooting, passing, DRIBBLING, defending... Everything in 1 word. This whole reckless act makes pes 14 a great game really held back.

- Some of the shots are sometimes weird. Although this rarely happens.

- Keepers take time to pas the ball. It needs to be sped up a little.

- Change of speed could have worked a bit better. Although it's not as bad as it sounds.

Seriously, the input lag is really making the game seem odd. If that's fixed, Pes 14 is a great game gameplay wise.

Is it me or is it just not that diffult to beat the AI? I'm already beating the computer consistently on Superstar. Also, I get the feeling that the toggling runs from your players seems a bit overpowered.

They're not 'superb', and it has nothing to do with my TV, which is a good TV btw. You'd probably know that if you owned a PC, and from your comments, it's obvious that you don't.

I guess it all boils down to what you're used too.

First off, what does having a pc (which btw is a strong gaming pc) and comments have anything to do with judging graphics? And second, if you're referring to player faces, then that's another story. That's not graphics per se, those are part of the graphics, but not the overall graphics.

And if you're referring to the framerate, then every ps3 game that I've played in these last 2 years has suffered from frame rate problems including the late great Diablo 3.

Because I'm judging it from what I'm used to playing PES on. The new demo is the first time I've played a PES on console in a long time, and I really noticed the frame rate issues, amongst other things. It's very poorly optimised, even for a console game and needs an awful lot of work.
